Das ist super, danke!
Dave, I so appreciate your videos. I was an avid desert backpacker for decades, then lost my right leg below the knee to cancer almost three years ago. I am working toward getting back on the trail -- the Grand Canyon keeps calling me -- and your videos give me solace, hope and motivation.
You're welcome! My pleasure. I bet you hike to the bottom of the grand and more! Have you ever been white water rafting? It's a great work out and also a fun way to see landscapes too! You're an inspiration. Keep going.
@@DaveMorrow My hiking buddy, Larry, has pushed past 80, and he's been itching to raft the Colorado. I think we need to get moving on that too. But I will pay my respects to that glorious river, standing on my one and half legs, and a pack on my back. I'll send you a picture.
Keep with your dream Dave, but don't rush it and you will achieve your goal. I have always longed for something like this, I used to hill walk once upon a time, but old age has caught up with me, so this is as strenuous as it gets for me now :-) look after yourself and stay safe, cheers.
@@ianwilkinson4602 Thank you, Ian. At the now advanced middle age of 66 (my wife would laugh at that), my body has schooled me on the necessity of careful, measured progress. I will obey its dictates.
@@davidlisak1244 Hi David, I am ten years your senior, but it doesn't stop the ex-wife nagging me to do this, that and the other [ not much of the other :-) ] and we don't even live together. I must admit that the Covid-19 lock down here in Wales has greatly increased my number of excuses, even though it's a pain in the bum. Cheers and good luck.
Your videos reminds me why I enjoy landscape photography in the mountains so much. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching. My favorite place to shoot too!
Wow! The stillness captivated me from the start and it got better and better. The scenery truly speaks for itself.
If I was you I’d never reach my destination because I’d be stopping every 2 minutes to take a photograph! Beautiful scenery! Thanks for sharing!
Oh, to be young again and be able to do that! Wonderful, thank you!
You bet!
8days alone! You’ve Got some Balls Dave, I’ll Give you that. No risk of Big-cat? Bears etc etc?.. you must have some inner confidence.. very jealous of you!..
Thank you for giving me the gift of zen. I sipped my morning coffee with headphones and just basked in all of the sights and sounds.
You're welcome.
Incredible landscapes, beautiful videography! Great composition on so many shots. You’re taking your time to set them up. Excellence is the result.
Thanks a ton!
Loved every second of that.
I'd give my left nad to go back about 20 yrs to do this. Fantastic Dave!!
Awesome work!!!
I really enjoyed watching 👍
Presses like before she watches cuz, welll, its Dave Morrow! I watch alot of these types of videos. Your photography and filming is The Best. 💪📸📹🎬
I appreciate that
Absolutely stunning video!
Thank you very much!
Man, just once in my lifetime would I love to do something like this. Thank you for the inspiring video, and all the work you put into making them.
Great video, much appreciated in current times and a reminder of how photography can engage us with nature. No words or BS just serenity.
Thanks!
Absolutely, positively amazing videos Dave.
Glad you like them!
Superb overload for the senses, amazing video Dave.
It totally resonates with me, not that i walk the distances you do, but i love out the back bushwalking, far from the madding crowds.
Birdsong, spicy fruity smells of the rainforests, ancient trees, distant views.
The video hits the spot mate. Great work.
Cheers Paul.
Awesome landscape, impressive. The bird sounds along makes it perfect
Dave, I just watched your video in my lunch break at work. It actually made me relax so much and gave me energy back. Also brought me back wonderful memories of my hikes in Canada. Thanks and keep it up💪🏻
I sure do appreciate your storytelling by setting that camera up, walking away from it and filming your bit only to return to get the camera then back on your way again-sorry to mess with mystique of that for viewers but it’s a bunch of work! I especially enjoy that you captured how those high mountains are wonderfully prone to constantly changing my light and moods. Go Dave!!
thanks Sue! good for getting more miles in and practicing composition:) The mountains are my favorite teacher.
Wow thats a gorgeous place! Thanks for sharing
Just magical again Dave, that scene with the old arching tree framing you after the snow, super, hope you are enjoying the Z7, had mine a few months now and think they are superb cameras.
Keep safe and keep taking us into the wonderful wilderness.
Among other things, you really nailed the sound quality. Not a hint of wind on the microphone, every nuance is audible. Great job!
Hi David, quite new to your channel, what I have enjoyed from your work so far is stunning. I really appreciate what you offer here... many thanks from Sweden!!
Awesome, thank you!
That was a change of pace. Perfect end to my of day. stunning beauty.👍👍
Thanks so much for this video ! I was completely mesmerized by the beauty and the silence. Nature in its purest form.
Awesome!
Thanks!
Love you videos Dave. Both Inspirational and show how beautiful mother nature really is.
Top video Dave ! Fabulous Scenery 👍🏼🙏🏼😊
Even better than the first part, if that can be!!! love those clouds licking the mountains as they go up! And those birds at the end, we hear them loud and clear! Great work Dave.
Thanks!
Wonderful escape from lockdown. Thanks Dave.
GOD BLESS U !!!!!!! thank u for taking us on a stunning journey ,,i would go insane in a place like that theres so much to shoot !! have you ever lost it in terms of being overwhelmed ??
The amount of work you put in is awesome. Setting up the shot, walking through, going back for the equipment, setting up the next shot... The time you spend on these videos shows. When can we get montage of all the wild animals you see while in the backwoods and maybe a little astrophotography?
Hard to believe that some one can make it through this rugged but beautiful terrain alone. You have my admiration...
Thanks Bill!
Your hikes are incredible man! I'm in awe just watching and listening
Thanks brother! Really appreciate it.
Superb. Damn I miss the mountains so much. Hopefully won’t be long till I can return.
Wow thank you I use to backpack years ago but a back injury stops that I now use a campervan I know it's not the same but its as close as I can get I really enjoyed walking with you.
That's a bummer! Sorry to hear that. I'll have more out in the future:)
What a GREAT video to end my day with. Viewed on 50 inch screen with surround sound turned to the appropriate level, birds singing, wind blowing, water flowing, crisp clear imagery, Im standing there.
Well done!!!!
Nice! thanks for letting me know. Only have a macbook pro to edit on and always wondered if it held up on a big screen with legit sound
Absolutely hold up. The only reason i turn on my tv is for special RUclips vids and an occasional movie.
Watched again for effect, yep nicely done. Your format with no voice and story through lens works.
Thanks for taking us on another awesome journey. Having to carry food, and store it in your tent, do you have any encounters with bears? How do you protect yourself against any potential problems?
Love the no-talk videos.
Gorgeous trip! Eight days solo is admirable-- the longest I've made it was five.
Magical place Dave. Always enjoy your videos and photography tips. Part 3?
Seeing your magnificent pictures is always a pleasure Dave and to see your videos particularly these types of videos really provides an insight to immense landscape you traverse to capture these images and with so much of the area/state to explore why would you want to travel further afield when you have so much beauty on your doorstep
There is a lot to see out in the Pacific Northwest. That's for sure! Glad you liked the video.
Very good Dave! Enjoyed it a lot. Makes me really excited to get back out on new adventures and make new adventure films! This year's goal is to get deeper into the wild, 2-3 days one way at least.
Loved the video. Thanks for sharing your journey
Oh My Gosh, this is an absolutely stunning video. I am inspired and envious of both your experience and ability to so perfectly capture natures beauty. Brilliant!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks:)
Awesome way to wind down after work ..... excellent production quality , birds sounded great ( sometimes lacking in the high alpine areas ) , beautiful !
I agree about the birds in the high alpine. I like this area alot because it's a mix of trees and alpine so you still get a lot of living stuff hanging out.
@@DaveMorrow North Cascades ?
I watched this video after a very stressful day. By its end, I felt completely different. Thanks for giving me perspective, Dave.
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching Mike!
I love the fantastic sceneries, n interesting sound enhancements.
Thanks!
Greetings from Adelaide South Australia:.....Just spectacular vision....well done indeed.
Many thanks!
I like this format of your videos
Thanks Pavlo! They are really fun to create, but take waaaay longer than a vlog. So will do them here and there. Appreciate the feedback:)
@@DaveMorrow The thing is that even without your great narrative, as a viewer, I'm "travelling" across every segment and cut of your video, so it makes it more immersive. Your educational videos are absolutely different.
Well Dave, I watched your video and now I’m going to go take a nap. Lot’s of humping trails and boulders, made me tired. Not sure I would attempt this alone (even with a videographer in tow). I can get lost in a Walmart Parking lot, but loved the video. Saw hundreds of “photo worthy” shots all along the way. Landscape and macro! Thanks for sharing.....b
Thanks for watching. Enjoy the nap!
There we go! Part 2 at Prime Time!
Hope you enjoy it Marius! Thanks for watching buddy.
Love the remote zoom in and out!! Is that in camera or post? Subtle but very effective. Good stuff, as always.
If you’d guide me up there, I would never leave
Makes me wish I was 30 years younger and as wise as I think I am now. Nice!!!!
hahaha! Well there are always steroids...
Thanks, Dave, felt like I was there! Love the bird calls. I would love to know what mountain range and what time of year.
The scenery is fantastic? Worth every step to get there, one question? How to recharge the camera batteries in this cold? And how? Unless you have a solar charger? Being in such a remote place isn't that simple when they die on you. Did this happen while shooting this video? Everything on my screen went black. Have a great one David.
Nice work buddy. Enjoyed this one even more than part one. Those conditions looked insane. You get the shot out there!?
are you really not with him on this?
Thanks! Some of the best I've seen for sure. Got lucky with the snow dusting.
Beautiful place Dave, thanks for sharing! How do you do to not stopping every 10 min and setting for long exposures with that moon and sunset? :D I would never get from point A to point B! Hahaha Keep these up they are gorgeous.
Dave, How do you know where you are going. Sometimes there seems to be a trail other times there is none to be seen. Are there maps of the trail?. Who made the trails. The point, you are out in the wilderness away from all civilization, how do you know where you are? Not generally but specifically. Your videos and info is great, keep up the good work, Gregg
Looks very beautiful ,I have a question DO YOU come across wild animals like Bears and such??seams like you go very remote areas ,Thanks for the great information mate..
Did you ever consider leading groups on back country photography trips? I would definitely love to visit some of these places but would likely never go it alone. The area in these two videos seems like a landscape photographer paradise.
Love the silent style. What do you use for recording the sound. ?
Man, this is wonderful. I have never watched a youtube video two times in a row before . First time on the ipad, then on the big screen with headphones for the full effect. It is literally like being in nature. Are you still shooting video with a gopro? What do you use for microphone? The sounds of nature are wonderful.
Hello, very informative and entertaining videos, thanks for sharing. How do you protect yourself against wild animals, for example bears or mountain lions when you’re out there by yourself?
Good question! I do a Q&A every sunday for subscribers to my channel. I can add this to the list of questions.
@@DaveMorrow Thanks, I’ll be sure to stay tuned.
Thanks for the adventure Dave gorgeous country , I know your are a landscape photographer but I am just curious do you ever take any photos of the wildlife in these areas i would imagine you see all sorts , thanks for the video as always take it easy and stay well.
Thanks for watching. I don't but mostly because equipment for wildlife is so heavy & I enjoy just watching the animals instead.
Beautiful video Dave. I have a [hiking-related] question about your photography journey in nature -- a thought I observed crossing my mind many times when hiking -- Imagine you set a goal for the day to get to a point you scouted on a map. Your trip is planned and food is rationed. While getting there, you pass through many gorgeous spots that catch your eye as potential landscape images, if only you were to cut your day short, stay there, waiting for light conditions and composition.
Has this happened to you? Curious to hear what your thoughts and feelings were in the moment and how you managed them. If so, how do you make the call on where to stop, when all of nature is soooo gorgeous :-)
.
Thank you :-) I appreciate you reading this and replying. Elia
Good question. I'll add it to the possible questions for this sunday's q and a vid
@@DaveMorrow Thank you Dave. I'll make sure to tune in to hear your thoughts.
Thinking about my question again, it feels somewhat like a psychological or philosophical one -- and I often find myself letting go of my camera just to practice being present and appreciative of the moment. But then that works against the practice of landscape photography :-)
This was beautiful? Was this all done on your GoPro?
Thanks! Z7 & Go Pro.
How do you do the zoom in / zoom out shots, is that programable gear connected to the lens, or is it a Z7 feature?
In post. Ken Burns Effect in Final Cut Pro.
@@DaveMorrow Makes sense!
Dave I have no doubt you have been asked this question many times before.....do you ever have a need for heat in the tent or a small campfire?
nope. If you need external heat it's a massive liability because you may not find it. Down everything. Layering.
What teriffic venture you take us on. Thats what makes photography so amazing. Sharing landscapes, birds, techniques, nature etc. I do have a question I noticed in yourPart 2. At some pont you stop and take a few shots and return the camera to its carrier. But I saw you eject the battery and place it in the case separately. Is there a reason for that. Cheers.
Do you pack bear spray? Have not seen any in your hiking videos.
only in griz country.
Your a machine!! How many extra miles did you add by having to set up your camera and video yourself hiking the trail. Then retreiving your camera? Thanks for the adventure!
Hey Dave, dont know if its on purpuse, but the video ends at 13:40 with a few minutes black screen.
The landscapes you have over there are just crazy man. Keep on.
Thanks for the heads up. Not sure why it did that. At least it was at the end! Nothing was cut off, just blank. Landscape photography heaven out here.
@@DaveMorrow Haha, yeah thats right mate. Nothing too bad. Hope COVID will be gone this year, so I will be able to go to the swiss alps again...
I think your videos are great What about you running into dangerous wildlife
Dave, how often you clean your camera and what products you recommend?
Solid Question! Will add it to Sunday Talk / QA list.
Love these videos Dave. Is that the Hyperlite back pack you're using? If so are they worth it? Im in the UK and considering getting one shipped over here for a 5 day solo hike in North West Scotland.
Thanks Damian. That's the Porter 5400 by Hyperlite. I'd probably go with the 4400 if I didn't use it for pack rafting. Yes. Well worth it. Love that pack. I have around 300 nights on that pack and it's still holding up well
@@DaveMorrow Great stuff mate thanks for that, I have read some really positive reviews so im going to order one now. Keep up the good work Dave love this channel, Ive learned a lot from it
@@damianburton9829 You are probably aware of this, but watch out for the Customs Duty and carriers fees when getting stuff shipped from the US... won’t be paid at checkout .... If you have a friend coming over the pond, get them to bring it, or depending on how much you are spending .... fly over and pick it up yourself ....
@@IamRecon001 i think ill just pay the additional duty cost. Ill only get busted for non essential travel 🤣. Thanks for the heads up though 👍
Am I missing something? Where are you? Sawtooth Range?
Pretty close, within 500 miles! Similar landscape. I don't give out locations for wilderness preservation purposes. Nothing against you. The internet ruins the wilderness:)
Hey Dave, aren’t you afraid of a shake or a bear or a puma?
Nope, they hear you from far away and take off. They are more afraid of you then the reverse.
@@DaveMorrow tks, my friend! Good journey!
I like the fact that you hike/walk at a ‘no hurry’ pace. This video is food for thought and although I don’t track the heights / distances you do ~ I like the experience of being alone in a remote location here in the Scottish Highlands which is very similar to your video here 👨🦯
Zone 2 pace. Can't put in big miles going any faster.
