    Wow thanks for sharing! This is the best example of what my high schools system would’ve sounded like before being replaced in 1995. We still have many 4037 horns mounted on old brick surfaces because they looked nicer than putting a cover plate over them, however disconnected. We also used to have 2903s and all that good stuff. We have a nice mix now though because the new system has been expanded

    We had old IBM horns in my high school similar to those EST horns in this video. I never got to hear them, as the system was replaced with a 4100U and TrueAlerts, but my grandmother remembers them and said they were nearly deafening. Love that there are still some out in the field. Great video!

      The 2903s at the school I last was at, was connected to a later-looking Simplex 2001 in continuous. Especially the building that has the cafeteria and music class. (or had) The first one was the closest I saw to looking like the Crotched Mountain school, from the good-old times! I was there from July 5, 1994 to November 11, 2002. The newest, would be the 2901-9833s at the group homes with Simplex 4001s (looks like at least 1985, if not 1986 or a bit later) The group home that was formally known as house two, unfortunately had a failed Simplex 4001! A thunderstorm wrecked it in 1998, IIRC! That FACP didn't even get to see 2000. It was replaced with an ESL FACP. If I exclude the ones from the 1990s. Except the 2901-9838s?

    • @RJARRRPCGP
      @RJARRRPCGP Год назад

      @@kansasfirealarms5101 Did the Simplex 2001 FACP fail? I suspect a new FACP took a Simplex 2001's place.
      And, the school I last went to, did have those old break-glass T-bar pull stations near the principal's office. That's on the floor under the cafeteria. The cafeteria is on the top floor. Music class is on the ground floor, when I was last there. Even when being the same building that has all 2901-9806s on the top floor, the floor with the principal's office and also science class, had all 2901-9833s! But they were OK. None failed in that building when I was going to school there. Half of the ground floor, also has 2901-9833s. Next to music class= 2901-9806s.

    Why am I not surprised they used Simplex 4251-30 break-glass pulls with those 2903 alarms? I've seen a bunch of 1970s-80s Simplex systems using those pulls, especially in schools.
    A friend of mine went to a middle/high school built in 1951, and they still had a few IBM 4037 horns intact, but disconnected in favor of a Simplex 4100 (or 4020) system with 4903 horn/strobes installed in the 1990s. The school was then demolished in 2015 in favor of a new middle/high school with a Simplex 4100ES voice-evac system.
