I'm not a huge KIA fan, but if it comes out looking like that, I will admit that it's a sharp looking truck.

Yeah, but this is marketed as an off pavement capable vehicle. Look at the off-road reviews of their other 4x4 vehicles, wheel spin, comical performance even just going up a rocky gravel road, on snow… holy hell just don’t. They need to focus less on looks and more on engineering. And PLEASE look up their rate of engine failures, not just on turbocharged engines, their failure rate is scary too. They make a decent riding moderately priced commuter car, but… other than that I’m at a loss.

I have been a KIA owner since 2013 (single vehicle) and I am a fan. I am please with the how well mine has held up. I have over 125k miles on it and have had no major issues. I'll give it a look when it comes out

On our ranch we use trucks, they all have a eight foot long bed, most are two door trucks, some are what we call Six-Packs and have four doors, most are 3/4 ton trucks, some are 1 ton trucks all of them are four wheel drive. That’s a city truck and most of them only haul groceries.
yeah i agree. this style is very popular in australia so they are fitting onto that niche along with toyota ford nissan mitsubishi holden and whoever else i missed. young kids spend nearly a hundred grand ( oops there goes my house deposit) and are having credit thrown at them. they use them to get to work, poss carry a few tools and do lots of camping on the weekends. we do actually have actual utilities here. they are almost always one tonne capacity single cab

I wouldn’t buy either. I would have possibly been interested in a Tacoma at some point but not now with the engine change and poor build quality coming out of Mexico. My 2015 Nissan Frontier has almost 100k miles and ZERO issues. Nothing but regular maintenance, not even brake pads need changing. This looks cool though, I hate the bulky front ends on newer tacos.

They’ve been talking about a competitor to the Ford Maverick for a while now and they still don’t have one. I’ll believe when I see it on the streets. All of the manufacturers have put feelers out and some have built prototypes for the auto shows but none have showed up on any dealer lots. This is one more.
Looks awesome. Kia has certainly come a long way I’d buy this over the unreliable ford ranger for sure.

KIa has come a long way
We bought a new 2003 KIA Sedona van for our famliy of 5. It has been the BEST value for our money. Paid $17K USD, and never had to put a dime into it except for normal care items and general maintenance. Sold it for $2K after 100K miles and 15 years of use. It's been to Burning Man three and survived!

Just a warning... KIA got good cars but once you need replacement parts, be prepared, 12 weeks or more you have to wait, my 2019 kia sportage has been sitting at the dealership, waiting for parts to arrive at open parking already for 5 months, useless after got rear-ended.

When they can go more than 200k miles on the same engine and no shop time I might think about it. Till then I'll keep my Tacoma. 120k and not one issue! Kia engines are JUNK!!!

Yeah the bed size needs to be at least the size of other mid-size trucks. It looks cool but you would have to immediately put a topper on it to have any usable space in the rear.
