I Tried the R18 Transcontinental, S1000XR and the 1250GS on Track and this is how it went...

BMW Motorrad has invited us to one of their yearly track day experience, brought pretty much all of the bikes they had lying around, told us to behave and then let us have fun on the circuit. If you've never been with your bike on a competition style track, this is what it looks like.

Great film. Old beemers used to love a rear-wheel lock-up. I remember a test-ride on an R1100S, I left a dual carriageway fast and used engine-braking on the slip road, all of a sudden I was sideways. Pulled the clutch in quickly and the bike straightened up - to my great relief! I guess a slipper-clutch makes this just a momentary thing nowadays.

When you’re tracking those big cruisers, you really need to hang off a lot to get the corner speeds up. You can leave up to 50% corner speed if you don’t.
