BEAUTIFUL! I am a white woman from Michigan USA so as far from a Maori as you can imagine. EVERY time I see a Haka I am moved to tears. I dont know why, I do know Im not alone in that! Thank you for sharing this special time.
Keyvah Grant all people's who feel as you do, are created by God. We are his children and all life is his. You might like to listen to the NZ national anthem the 6 min version. In God we live, in God honour. Much love from NZ AOTEAROA.
I am also from Michigan originally. Moved to Florida in 2008. My grandson is a Staff Sargent in the USMC. We love watching HAKA. We say they are Maori Mariners. 😊
The contrasts of the men doing the ancient Haka with ties and in suit shirts makes it even more impressive. It shows that this tradition will outlast time and space and as long as these people honor the traditions of their ancestors, their ancestors will never die. They are alive in every movement of these men.
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:2-4
I am fascinated by the Maori people and their culture. I can watch a hundred of these and I will cry every time. One of the most amazingly beautiful and touching traditions. I hope I get to see one live one day. Absolutely beautiful!
@@solokomBecause in New Zealand you will get called out for going half pie. It's essentially military drills much like a kata in karate. And as with the kata, you do it with strength and purpose. Or you don't do it at all.
chinato I don't know where you got that information from? I know pre European days the family were outside the door while they did their business, but what you claim is NOT a tradition, please don't tell me crap like that is on the internet.
Honey, I'm an antrophologist specialized in sex culture. You're talking about the ancient roman tradition of the "tholemaics" (i guess it would be said that way in english). The tholemaics were some chants that were sang by the family and drunken friends in front of the house while the bride and groom were consumating. Those chants took their name after the Talam/Thalam/Thalamus, meaning the "bed" where they had sex and so forth (as a curiosity, the brain region responsible of sleep and dream is called thalamus/hipothalamus because of the same very reason). But that were in the wrongly named by you "pre European days". That's nothing to do with the maori's tradition I talked about in my first contribution. If you don't wanna believe it because of your projecting your own sexual taboos in other cultures... suit yourself; but I should recommend you to have an open mind ;)
When you specialize in Maori culture, then come back to me. From what I see you've specialized in readfin a whole lot of bullshit, as a Maori wahine myself there has never been anything of a sort. You know where you can shove your theory ;)
Awsome. Their movements and facial expressions by itself is a war declaration. Anytime I see Haka is an indescribable emotion and this video is absolutely awsome . You see real involvement . Best wishes and love to this honourable and proud culture.
This is so incredible!! I can't imagine what anyone's reaction would be to this if they didn't understand what it was about. Blessings to the newlyweds!! Thank you for sharing this.
I have yet to witness a Haka that hasn't brought tears to my eyes. That kind of passion, respect and love of culture doesn't exist on the western side of the world.
It does you're just running in the wrong circles. Probably to you nothing as impressive as the maori haka but there are ceremonies and rites passed down in western civilization as well
I've lived in "western civilization" for 41 years and seen nothing remotely comparable to this. Yes, we have traditions and ceremonies but it's not like this in the least. @@katerriboeshans4776
Just saw this for the first time. Wow! My heart rate escalated, I tensed up, and felt like this couple will tackle the future with mental toughness kind of love. And with a team of Haka chanting Maorian warriors by their side. Awesome. Thanks for posting.
I think this so more than amazing..its like when they dance ,they are in a world of their own..what a beautiful culture..what a thrill to actually see one in person..
This is the most intricate Haka I've seen so far. Fantastic!! I don't understand why the guests and newlyweds don't ever get excited over this performance. They just sit there as if nothing is happening. I would be jumping up and down with excitement. What a great culture.
Seeing this in a wedding is so great. As Haka is not agression. It's respect and unity, and in modern times, Fun. (My cousin livies in Qeensland, he explained it.. kinda.. I think)
Just wanna said that i'm from Poland and it's amazing always watching people doing HAKA, it feels Your disciple and history in that, must be great expirience
I am a white woman who obviously takes claim to no part of this beautiful culture. I don't know what they're saying, but every single video of hakas that I watch never fail to get me emotional
our culture is beautiful but the pakeha (English) people here still shit on us. So although we might all look united when you see other non Maori embracing and doing the haka that a the only aspect of our culture they care about anything else they don't want a bar of
Beautiful, intimidating, heartwarming, interesting, a bit scary but for all the right reasons! I only wish I was part of such an incredible culture. I can only imagine how amazing this would be in person. Congrats to the beautiful couple. Salude! 🥂
"The Maori people.... amazing.".............Oh yes. How wonderful the maori people are. Let us bless them. Let is hold them up high and show the world how great the are. News headline from the Rotorua Daily Post newspaper: " Child, 2, dies after Rotorua driveway accident, family member steals from doctor trying to save child's life" As hospital staff tried to save the life of a 2-year-old boy run over in a Rotorua driveway, a family member swiped a doctor's two phones and a bank card and went on a spending spree. The child died a short time later but Melissa Herewini (A MAORI) had already taken the bank card to four stores in Rotorua and bought alcohol, food, petrol, phone credit and cigarettes.
For those who haven't known this kind of culture, they might be laughing while watching this. But if you get to know what they are saying, even you do not know actually know what they are saying, you will eventually admire their performance thru their action and intensity of facial expression, loud sound, and hand gestures. Truly amazing and impressive especially the Groom facing the Men exchanging words which I cannot comprehend but sounds amazing. Hearing this in a position of a Bride feels so greatly protected by Men. LOL! 💪💗

Never forget the teachings of your ancestors. They live in us through DNA and we shall continue their ways
Jah lives in New Zealand too. The Rastafari faith is practiced here too my African brother.

I first learned about this from my favorite movie Whale Rider.
It brings me to tears whenever I watch Hakas being performed; I don’t know why. It’s so endearing and I wish I could be a part of it. ❤
I’m from Canada! I feel the same way!
Just stopping by honor this beautiful preserved culture. YOU ARE SO BLESSED!!!
Much love from New Orleans!

Great comment. And accurate.
Is this Tika Tonu, or another haka? Just curious.
Well put man!!
100% вы правы!
I don't care how many of these I've seen..... They will always be cool. It seems like a a lot of heart and emotion. Fantastic
SOTEX_MATPUNCHER you hit the nail on that one 😉 all emotion is expressed in a haka whether it be sad or happy. I love it
Me too.ive had tears after watching this video

So true! Why is it that every single Haka is so sincere and powerful?
Completely agree

It must have been terrifying when the foreigners met with the original Haka.. I love this.. so passionate and patriotic. ☺️♥️
Honestly one of the best I've ever seen. They were so committed. Bride looked a bit scared though. LOL
I'd be scared too. Maori's tradition implies the men can share the bride that first night. They seem quite enthusiastic about that.

Bloody amazing 🎉 congratulations to the couple! Much happiness
Respect. Much respect for preserving and continuing to honor your culture.
Every time. I cry every time. It's clearly an ancestral song because you can feel the power in it every damn time. How beautiful.
Wow, absolutely breathtaking! That couple is blessed!
the sheer emotion, excitement, and restraint on the bridesmaids faces...
So much respect for those who keep their ancestors traditions alive
So awesome! I love watching these videos. Makes me wish I lived in NZ. I have my brother in law to thank for showing me the videos on the All blacks.
This beyond beautiful. The Real men of the world!👊🏽
being a kiwi and growing up in NZ we are privileged to be able to whiteness something as beautiful as a haka.

Everytime I see haka performance, I m getting emotional, it's best....love from India
Not being a 'kiwi' I too am privileged to be able to watch this, perhaps even more so... 👌
I love this haka dance. One of the wonderful things I see is the strong unity with the groomsmen. best wishes to you both.
POWERFUL. I don't know the words, but it's Inspiring, primal, speaking of unity. Keep the Haka, spread it to all nations!
Cultural traditions promote support & bonding!
Makes me cry every time so beautiful!
I absolutely love Haka. It speaks to my soul. Please keep your culture its beautiful.
