  • Here are a few ways that I like to force my opponents into half guard in order to facilitate pressure heavy smash passes. No Gi BJJ has seen time and time again that pressure heavy passes, especially from half guard, are highly effective when compared to looser outside passes.

This new format is simply amazing Andrew and Bird. I teach the beginner classes at my academy and I've recommended your channel multiple times. This has of course led to everyone doing diving kneeslices (which from the perspective of learning Jiu Jutsu is amazing, but horrible from the perspective of testicles).
Thank you for all the amazing free content, I will be joining the Patreon after this month.

I force all the beginners to try to cut at the knee more than where the thigh connects to the crotch; and so far I have only lost one testicle!

    Notes
1:07 get opponent to his back first and foremost
1:53 another view of the ankle grab underhook knee slice
2:06 how to drop and balance from HQ position-don’t posture up; lean forward
2:19 when you cannot step inside to get HQ- step in to double butterfly and break one leg grip
2:40 the knee that is still has ankle grip will roll forward over his shin and thigh to HQ
    2:54 dive into half guard
3:30 (your left hand)reach past his trapped butterfly hook to hip
    3:51 details of hip switch
4:22 secure position by lifting his hips to place lock
4:50 other option- your coming down without hip switch looking to dig underhook with your right hand
5:44 cross step into RDLR and emphasize control of free leg
6:08 if you can keep his leg away, pop your hips backwards and straighten his, get to mat
    Stopped here

stop forcing, work on your bottom game. if you really want to keep them down glue yourself to them before they start to wrestle
