This is beautiful. The fact that whomever owns it respected the history of this home and didn’t make it “modern”, absolutely was a brilliant move. It looks so much better.
Warmth and history emanate from every room of this house and love the squeaky floorboards. So nice to see an old house that hasn't had its guts ripped out and painted grey.
@@sallyanneotton4348 as an agent dealing with lots of interesting spaces, it’s been refreshing to see more people going bold with colours. I think grey might be on the way out.
I am besotted, speechless, infatuated. Never wanted to own a home til this moment. Light years out of my reach, and I'm ready to cry, but this vid has given me great enjoyment. May its owners cherish it.
Used to work on Brick Lane & it was so sad so many of these types of houses being converted & modernised to point of soulless so glad to see a building been honoured such a dream home & beautifully kept.
P E R F E C T I O N ! I have never been a money oriented person, it doesn't control my life choices (it sometimes should) and I generally have little respect for fortunes and those who have them BUT suddenly I would like to be rich enough to live in this incredible house that looks exactly like a home I would have chosen and curated! Thank you for allowing me in for a little time.
How refreshing to see an authentic Georgian townhouse "dans son jus"! Oozing character and charm - so unlike the modern renovations that strip everything away. Thanks for this tour.
The way the owners listened to the house and responded with respectful sensitivity is to be applauded. The use of natural materials and timeless colours seem to straddle so many eras. The walls literally whisper with history and I love it. Thank you for showing us this magnificent house.
My partner’s ancestors were Spitalfields Silk Weavers, this is wonderful to imagine the space they would have lived and worked with their big families. The Owner did a great job, keeping so many authentic fixtures and fittings along with adding sympathetic wall colours.
Thank you - I've been in the US for many years now, but before we moved over here we owned an end terrace Georgian in Stoke Newington with lots of gorgeous paneling like this one. I often reminisce about that house - basement level kitchen with coal holes just like this too & an old huge fireplace with ironwork fittings ! That area & that Georgian house were very 'posh' in their day, our home was built in 1720, not particularly 'favored' when we lived there - but now 35+ years later I understand it has again 'boomed' & I hope that house is still being appreciated for it's historic value ! Miss you Stoke Newington Church St & that Red Lion pub ! I always enjoyed discovering the history of that area during the 3 years we lived there ! Not so long ago houses like this were considered too 'scruffy' to keep, and many rows got torn down, I think we have all learned to love them now & that is not happening so much!
A lovely home with loads of character! I am glad that they kept the character to this 303 year old home. Older homes have so much beauty of the past and creative design. Thank you.
My mothers family were part of those who fled , all those years ago , and some of the family are artists , etc so this is beautiful thanks for sharing xx
Over 300 years old, it's spectacular! I love it! I could cry when I see the soul of an old home destroyed to "update" it. This one is almost untouched. It's a treasure! I'm in Canada and very few houses remain that were built prior to 1800. Saint John, New Brunswick does have a few but a huge fire in 1877 destroyed most. Our house is 100+ years old with original floors, windows, woodwork, and fireplace. I love our creaky floors, treadworn stairs, and wavy bubbled window glass. It's old for Canada but would be considered almost brand new over there! Thank you for the tour.
If you are the type of person who has a great imagination and decorating comes naturally this could be turned into a really warm and inviting home. I wish I had those skills. Thanks for the tour.
What an amazing space! If only I could afford it I would snap it up in a heart beat. A piece of history that works well for modern day living in a great location. So much natural Beauty and character with no pretence. I have to say this is probably one of my favourites. But then again I say that about most of the properties you show 😊 Thanks Simon
Love seeing that some of the house is "raw" and the rest is exquisite. Reminds me of the row houses in Savannah, GA USA. I am past negotiating the stairs, but really enjoyed this presentation.
I’d love to hear more about this area from those days. I’ve worked there since the late 90’s and it’s changed unbelievably since then. Goodness knows how it’s changed since the 50’s.
Very cool! Thank you for the comment. If you're interested in finding out more, you musy visit this place, dennissevershouse.co.uk/ it's even more historic that this house!
Original wooden flooring does "talk" loolo.... How lovely is this place - thanks for the tour! Absolutely wonderful that its all in tact over the centuries.
What a wonderful challenge for an Interior Designer and an Architect. What a magnificent property. The best to whoever developes this historic property.
Reminds me so much of the homes in Society Hill in Philadelphia where I live. Beautiful house...the floors. fireplaces, woodwork. Would love to live there. Thank you for the tour.
I can imagine it in the 1700s, with looms in the loft, silks for sale in the ground floor, designs tacked in a workroom, and someone cooking in the basement. I also have Huguenot ancestry, but they skipped England and went to Ireland for a couple of years and then to the colonies.
Wow. Beyond delightful, and so quiet. I have never seen homes like this. I am from Australia and thought all the old London homes were all dark and mouldy. Good luck finding the perfect owner. Thank you for your efforts.
The layout and features (esp. in the kitchen) are almost identical to Dennis Severs' House, which by the looks of things, must be very close to this property indeed, perhaps even neighbours. Highly recommend a visit to anyone who loves history, esp. at Christmas time, when they do candlelit tours. This house is its twin!
