Looks great but my guess is the snap on won't live very long compared to milwaukee in a shop setting. With their lack of good warranty it still doesn't make it worth it.

@@austinmoore1689 Ergonomics are a huge part of tools they affect size,weight, comfort when you get into carpentry tools like circ saws they affect line of sight etc. Plus it’s just smart marketing….but sure!
I’m soooo happy Snap-On finally came out with a battery pack that matches the body lines of the their new guns. They just looked so hokey with the old battery. Now Snappy needs to come out with a high output pack so we can see the 9080’s full potential. Yes, I still love my 2767, settle down Milwaukee peeps.
I picked up an mg3255 after some guy just threw it away when warranty expired It's a good tool, i'll give you that. I'd totally buy it if it was available for the $50 i offered the guy before he said "just take it"
I’ve had my 9050 since it first hit the Snap-on truck a couple months ago. I’ve been extremely pleased with it and it’s done everything I need in a heavy diesel shop. Yoke nuts, Cummins x15 head bolts, main bolts, etc. definitely made the right decision.
For the size and price point of snapon it’s very hard to justify buying them. While with Milwaukee you get the greatest battery line on the market. The M12 and M18 lines cannot be competed with for the amount of tools that you have with such compact batteries and the amount of new tools they always release. Since I’m in the engineering field I greatly admire the engineering that gets done with Milwaukee because of the fact that they listen to your request and wishes then bring it to life.

As most have said I and agree, great to see snap on release this at more "affordable" price compared to the big daddy model. Still hard to justify against the milwaukee cost. However it's gotta be remembered about the good old drip feed payments. Alot of guys I've worked with don't have the money laying around to fork out for even the better priced milky. But the snap on guy will just drop the gun in your hand and all you see is £20 (or $) a week and all of a sudden you have a market leading gun and no hole in the wallet. All that been said, 4 years and no new flag ship release means no doubt milwaukee are overdue, and have probably been developing a sledge hammer of an impact that will probably blow us away. Not to mention the 5 year warranty. Personally I'm on the dewalt 899 with some decent flex volt 6ah batteries and to be fair day to day its more than enough for the stuff in the UK I work on. Any bolts it's snaps on suspension work etc well they were usually corroded to buggery anyway and just makes the decision for new bolts with that sus arm easier 😂
Thats what I've been saying about milwaukee for a year now and its not long till they come out swinging and claiming names. 4 years is a long time and they have the budget to develop something good.
In the world of tool truck brands, matco and snapon have continued to provide, where as Mac grabbed on to dewalt and really just overpriced the commercially available product.
Agreed but as pointed out in another comment the tool truck provides pretty decent financing (in my case 0%) for those tools I picked up my mac 1/2 with a desalt impact driver led flash light charger and 2 5 amp batteries for 650 cad and didn’t have to pay up front can’t do that at the retail stores and the pricing was very competitive just depends on the dealer

Wish Milwaukee would release a new smaller high torque. I'm sure it's in the works already, because you know during the torque wars, like trucks, someone always has to have the biggest number. The new snap on is definitely impressive and will drive everyone to do better.
I doubt it will be smaller. Ryobi went smaller and no one cared much, they just want numbers. Dewalt is going same size (8.8") so Milwaukee will be at least this same long again.
What really sucks about the "torque wars" is the absolute fudgery... you see snapon advertising 300 less ft lbs, but theyre actually accurate, compared to other that claim more, but deliver less...
Snap on calling this the Milwaukee killer is like Rolls Royce calling the Phantom a Camry killer. Sure the Phantom might be better in every single way, but it's still 6 times more expensive.

Got it from my snap on dealer because this video and I’m a lucky fella I actually have some of the high output impact wrenches this Chanel reviews ( the Matco stubby green impact / nitro cat 1250k/9010 lol m12s 8850) with plenty of work as a line tech for the past decade and this gun so far has impressed me for an impact this size to output so much power I might actually have to put the air hose down (we wish?) Just did a transmission job and didn’t have to grab the Matco stubby or the 1250k has me wishing they can make a 3/8th version so I can trade that 9010 asap there is no reason for that behemoth 9080 I recently used now lmao
I would love to see entire brands rated on your system. If I want to recommend a brand to a apprentice of mine, it would be awesome to be able to recommend a brand vs power and price.

But my batteries are finally starting to die and my tools are starting to wear out. I’m considering changing brands. Any brand is an option for me.
I bought the CT9050 thanks TTC 👍 The light is very bright not sure if you mentioned in the test. Going to run for 6 months to year and will give longevity updates.
my boss has both the 9080 and 9050 and i use both daily.. the 9080 for popping ball joints out and the like and the 9050 for everything else since it has plenty of beans but much lighter
I just got my self the snapon 9050 high vis impact wrench love it so far no heavy use on it yet got it for tire rotates only and for light mechanic work on the side
I absolutely love my Milwaukee high torque but damn this kinda makes me wanna try this gun out…only reason I haven’t bought one yet is that $1000+ (CAD) price tag

Snap on has a new battery it’s a CTB1856 it’s a 5.6amp battery. I have the CT9050 and I was shocked how powerful it is for its size!! I love it.. I wanna try it with the new battery.
A great film,TTC. I cannot justify spending the funds for the Snap-on version since I wouldn’t be using it everyday, but I can understand how an everyday, full-time mechanic would. It does appear from the specs and your testing I would reckon Milwaukee might have something to worry about. I wonder who will fire the first shot in the comments war between the Milwaukee and Snap-on Fanboys?! I would rather spend the time watching this film than anything the NFL wants to do.
Also the 3/4" extensions, it was crazy how much torque they lost to the long 1/2" extension and im sure it would be less loss with 3/4". Both extension and 1/2" adapter must be tested together, my experience is that whenever extensions are needed it is for smaller socket sizes and not the typical bigger sockets for 3/4". I got all the mentioned items but no way to do consistent testing.
@@djsi38t Yes that's my theory as well and the reason I'd like to see the XGT compared to these 1/2" impacts that are basically the same physical size as the Makita.
I would also like them to test this. I want to know how much power you loose using an adapter. I would be temped to use that Makita XGT with an adapter as my main impact.
The issue with a crank bolt coming off is similar to using an extension to remove a bolt. Why cause what is keeping the engine crank from rotating when the nut is being impacted off? Just the pistons and compressed air within. They act as a damper decreasing the impacts effectiveness. Really the crank pulley needs to be locked down somehow ....
Funny thing is, I never heard about the famous Honda crank bolt until I bought a 7th gen civic that needed a motor. I was all game for it because that engine swap was a breeze. That is until I tried to get that crank bolt off with my 3/8 stubby, then a breaker bar, then a bigger bar after I broke the 3/8 one, then a 4' pipe on the 1/2" bar finally got it loose
Welcome to the Honda Crank Bolt Club. I went through a Few Impacts, torch and 8 foot breakerbar before I finally got it off with a 1inch Semi Impact from the shop down the street it sounded like a gun shot when it broke loose 🤣

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this but I just recently picked up a 9080 and I was having to remove the lug nuts on a JLG 9k forklift we typically use a 1” drive earthquake pneumatic gun which if I had to guess tightens those lug nuts to well over 600lb/ft+. Well she was breaking the lugs loose fairly easy with a good weighted socket but the gun just over heats SO fast I had to keep switching batteries out. My coworker who has a Milwaukee impact also tried to break them loose and the ones his impact couldn’t remove the 9080 handled with ease. But between the impact overheating and the weight and size of the tool it’s honestly really annoying. I’m really considering returning it and waiting for the gen 3 milwaukee to release.
Not really power tool related, but it's about Snap-On, just have a gripe with them. Just before Christmas i got a new Snap-On jacket, i tried it on to make sure it fit, but didn't zip it up. The next day i wore it to work and i noticed the zipper kept basically snagging on itself, i maybe the plastic of the zipper just didn't mold perfectly and would fix itself after use and wearing in. From late Dec to late Jan i wore the jacket probably on average every other day, minus a week where i was sick with covid. The zipper never got better and i intended to ask out Snap-On guy the next time i saw him, but then the zipper broke. The next time i saw our Snap-On guy was Feb 9th, he comes every other week and between hus vacation and my being sick with covid i didn't see him at all in January. When i finally saw him on Feb. 9th and showed him he said he cant warranty it and even if he could he cant get anymore of those jackets. Im pissed, being sold a faulty product then being told your SOL. So, i got the new jacket because I've been wearing the same North Face jacket for about 10 years now, everything still works perfectly on it, it's just getting old. It just really pisses me off that this very expensive Snap-On jacket breaks after a month and im SOL, but my 10 year old jacket that's been seriously abused still functions perfectly. Honestly im so pissed that the Snap-On guy wont get another dime out of me.
I hope everyone understands that snap on is expensive as hell but you are not dumping all that cash in one shot and that there is a payment plan that way that straight up price is a bit more manageable in paying it little by little and dose not cripple you like dumping 450 up front for a Milwaukee kit vs paying your snap on guy 60-80 bucks a week for your tools unless u get carried away and take the whole truck with you
I finally got the 9050, i got tired of my milwaukees battery rattling itself loose. Loved my m18 for 4 years but the battery thing was an issue the whole time. The 9050 for my real world use seems to be better all around. I like that its a little lighter, the milwaukee was annoying to use sometimes because it rattled too much during use, for me the 9050 seems to rattle a lot less but has more torque for sure.
About time snap on became competitive with their cordless impacts. I bet the warranty is only 1 year compared to 5 year for Milwaukee. It also still cost more coin! I can also go to a Home Depot and buy a battery or charger or tool if need be with Milwaukee. Also the M18 line up and M12 line up is just fantastic with tool options along with battery options. Team RED all the way still. I’m a proud father of M18 fuel mid torque M18 fuel high torque and m18 fuel drill M12 fuel stubby impact w/6amp hour and m12 right angle impact. I also still have air tools Matco MT2779. Gotta have a wide variety for the rust belt states

Further proof snap-off can make some quality tools, but they will do anything and everything just to get you to finance another purchase for something you either already have or don't need.
@@myusher2 I agree I have a DeWalt that's firmly in the high torque range and it will snap a lug stud but have meet quite a few bolts it would barely budge or just snap off because Ohio
The new snap on 5 amp hour battery is claimed to be significantly better than the old battery pack (so my snap on rep says) The new battery only works on the new brushless snap on tools. I have a suspicion that the 9050 may have performed very similarly to the 9080 because the 9080 was tested with the old battery pack. I think using the new battery pack on the 9080 may give it a little more power and would recommend using that combo on the next test of the 9080 if there will be one.
I love this channel and I may be wrong but milwakee price comes with battery. I cant touch snap-on , Mac ,or Matco for the price on his screen with battery. Last checked Matco with battery and charger was 900
Would love to see how the new snap on brushless ct861 matches up to the milwaukee stubby. The only channel that has anything about output shows it doing pretty well but it's a pricey little guy. Just a suggestion, as always awesome videos man!
Same here, if snap on wants to charge me double the price of Milwaukee, then I expect double the performance that Milwaukee gave. In this video, that was not the case. Sure, it did beat Milwaukee, but not by much. If snap on can match Milwaukee's price, then I might consider it, even if its $50 more, but not double the price more.
@@zzzzzz...9902 Even if Snap-On was able to match the price of Milwaukee, they don’t have nearly as expensive of a tool platform. As someone that uses a good chunk of the M18 line up, a couple ft-lbs doesn’t make a big enough difference to run multiple platforms.
Finally, a SO product that can match or better a milwaukee product. Too bad it remains overpriced, a SO SO warranty and limited distribution. I own a first gen Fuel 1/2 impact that is now ancient by current standards but continues to never miss a beat. I'm not about to change over because of the M18 tools I own. You're too late, SO! And, it won't be long before Milwaukee comes out with a new high torque gun. You guys are right; my old M18 fuel meets my needs 99.9% of the time.
The real question is….which brand of batteries have you invested in? At this point, I’m married to Milwaukee. Cordless tools are cool and all, but at least you could affordably mix these tools when they were powered by your compressor.
Good review....but no way I'm leaving the M18, sorry Snap-On...there's more to this than a few foot pounds. The whole Milwaukee experience is why I'm loyal, I'm a fan of other brands also, but I will always have trust and faith in Milwaukee and they have always delivered.
Please try Hazets most powerful cordless and most powerful air impact, I have the air impact and have found it more powerful then one of the snap on ones we have in our workshop
I haven't touched my 9080 since I got my 9050. Now I see why. I knew it was strong but didn't realize it was just about as strong as the 9080. Love that snap on is soaking up all the Milwaukee fan boy tears with their new brushless line up.
I was there at import versus domestic during the record stick shift runs. Such good race. I have the IR IQ v20 series 1/2 inch hi torque gun. I love this gun where does it fall on this list
One thing i consider when i buy power tools is the ecosystem. How do the rest of those tools perform compared to the industry’s heavy hitters? I know they offer a grinder and recip saw.
I think Snapon’s method has always been to never outsell their own brand. They still offer the brushed 8850, if they blew its specs out of the water no one would want to buy it and I’m sure they still have a lot of inventory on trucks and warehouses. I noticed too they kind of keep you in the dark about upcoming models because that would make people wait for the next best thing. Some tactics I also were met by on the tool truck were “oh this model isn’t going to be made in green”. Of course that was the case when the red tools were in hand and stocked on the truck. Put that G at the end of the part number and voila we have a green tool 2 weeks later lol. The older brushed models had a progression of motor upgrades over the years. I have two 8850’s one was rebuilt due to it being underpowered right out of the box and another that I bought for $100 that’s was trashed when I sent it in. The two guns were rebuilt a few years apart and the more recent seems to have more beans than the other had straight from service. Both rebuilds sound almost like the brushless motors I use in my Rc airplanes, maybe a different speed controller is utilized as well. Have you tested 8850 impact guns to see how they stack up?
The makita 18v xwt08z that's been out for years has been making these same numbers. BL Motor delivers 740 ft. lbs. of max torque and 1,180 ft. lbs of breakaway torque.
I have the Ridgid with the 9ah battery, the Snap-on 9050 and Snap-on 9080, the Ridgid is a beast but pure junk, bolts kept loosening up then blew the nose off after one year of use, the Snap-on cordless impacts are built for abuse, I'm a heavy suspension tech
Good to see Snap-On actually competing for once, this is only good news for the consumer because it'll just force other manufacturers to improve. Although I don't think results from Snap-on don't matter as much as some may think because the mechanics that have been suckered into the tool truck life will buy them regardless of performance, they're already so deep in debt that an extra few hundred bucks means nothing and they can just continue to shoot the tool truck guy a few bucks per week in hopes of paying everything off by the time they retire or quit the job. Its all about how their tool truck buddy sells it to them and once one guy in the shop gets a snappy impact the rest will soon follow. Case in point being that people actually bought last years models which were insanely underpowered and overpriced when compared to their competition.
At my dealership with about 20 techs you couldn't be more wrong, most everyone is using Milwaukee and I've seen several people sell and trade the snapon electric garbage for Milwaukee after they try it
@@99yellowz Guess it really just depends on the area you live huh? Just about everyone at my dealership has a fairly decent collection of snap-on stuff, of course any smart person is gonna have a mixed bag, some manufacturers do better in certain areas and whatnot. But I also live in a decent area and most of the techs there are pulling a 6 figure income. I've got tools from all different brands and can say confidently that my snap-on stuff tends to just be easier to work with as a mechanic, plus the tool truck coming every week going around replacing broken stuff and getting engaged with all the techs is a nice experience. I had planned on getting the M-18 impact but having used both I enjoy the ct9050 much more. Regardless of power output, its just a more livable gun, lighter, more comfortable, better balance in the hand imo. The fact that it makes more power and is built in the US is just a bonus. From what I've observed serious technicians poke jokes at snap-on for being pricey, the broke ones just get upset about what they can't have without breaking the bank. Out of all my tools my american, german, and japanese made tools seem to always outperform and outlast that cheap Chinese crap.
Can't wait to see the difference in power Ridgids new true 2700's cell 8amp battery will have on that Hightorque and Midtorque once it's released here shortly. The Octane 3.0 lays down some serious beans for it size so givin the Octane 9.0 is only running 18650's the new 8amp with almost triple 2700's may retake the top spot 🤷♂️ Although Milwaukee should be coming out with a smaller more powerful Hightorque with tri-beam design like the Gen 2 Midtorque soon👍🏼

Size wise it looks to be between Milwaukee Hightorque and Gen 1 Midtorque pretty nice. If they can shrink this down to a midtorque version the size of the Gen 2 milwaukee that be crazy. I'm sure Milwaukee should have a answer to everyone soon since the 2767 is already long in the tooth.

I have the older model it's a 2020 model and that damn thing at 3/8 drive is just insane. I use it on everything. only thing iv found it can't take off is red lock tighted and ran in with air.
I’m getting the ct9050 but right now I have milwaukees high torque with a 5.0 and two 6.0 high output and my milwaukee is about 4 years old but now the battery is crazy sloppy cuts off on me and I have to nudge it, so going for the ct9050 and if milwaukee comes out with a new high torque I’ll get that when and if it comes out.
My theory, on Snap On calling it midsize, is judging "size" on weight. Perhaps it's weight class is "midsize"? Whether Snap On usees (physical) size or weight, since they released a mid-, they gotta release a full size! I want to see it!

So the snap on beat the Milwaukee by 31 ft lb of torque but I ended up purchasing a brand new Milwaukee m18 high torque with a 5 amp battery for around 200 dollars in October due to the fact that I found some great deals from home depot so for a third of the price there is only 31 ft lb I think I got the better deal and I bet that the warranty is better on the Milwaukee and the fact that they have a much better selection of tools. I have spent less than 2,000 dollars in the last 6 months on Milwaukee on m12 and m18 and have over 4,000 dollars retail. I just bought the m12 stubby 3/8 and 1/4 impact gun and the m12 3/8 and 1/4 inch high speed ratchet and the 3/8 extended for around 600 to 650 dollars without batteries but I have quite a few of those.
I've switched to snap on 14.4 from m12 due to battery issues and terrible warranty service. Still have m18 stuff, been considering the switch to snap on completey. Just a little hesitant about the 18 volt stuff.
I love my milwaukee impact. I've never tested a snapon or matco one but after getting on there trucks at the shop with those prices scared me. Lol I had to run off there trucks. I've seen guys at the shop with lots of debt buying there tools. It looks like they are on a payment plan or something. I'm ok buying low budget tools if it can get the job done. I think I'll stick with milwaukee. It hasn't let me down yet 🤞.
You should try the dewalt 1/2” and 3/8” air impacts, I have the 3/8” air impact and it’s pretty good for the price! I’d love to see how it would perform against the other air impacts!
Ugh I hope snap on doesn’t go to a pinch lock battery like yea they are hard to remove in both 18v and 14.4v but I like that I hated my old Milwaukees due to the batteries always disconnecting while in use cause they wiggle loose
Milwakee sets the bar then 12 months later dewank and fapon catch up and raise the bar another inch then milwakee comes back in and sets the bar another 2 foot higher and the process repeats.
Holy smokes that 9050 makes some BEANS kinda sad on the Snap-on SEP only has the CT9080 listed but considering its torque numbers aint bad for 560usd for a whole kit.

snap on power ratings are with 1 bar of battery, apparently. also might retire the 2767 for this in green. everything green in my tool box. also the battery shake is annoying and my 2767 often jumps from setting 3 to setting 2 and its too annoying to deal with. im also dumping m12 line into the house box and going with 14.4 line because of milwaukee's battery issues. great tools, just can't have 100 dollar batteries falling to the floor.

I’m soooo happy Snap-On finally came out with a battery pack that matches the body lines of the their new guns. They just looked so hokey with the old battery. Now Snappy needs to come out with a high output pack so we can see the 9080’s full potential. Yes, I still love my 2767, settle down Milwaukee peeps.

I’ve had my 9050 since it first hit the Snap-on truck a couple months ago. I’ve been extremely pleased with it and it’s done everything I need in a heavy diesel shop. Yoke nuts, Cummins x15 head bolts, main bolts, etc. definitely made the right decision.
Yeah and milwaukee or even ridgid would do just as well and you would have had more money in your pocket for other tools lol.

For the size and price point of snapon it’s very hard to justify buying them. While with Milwaukee you get the greatest battery line on the market. The M12 and M18 lines cannot be competed with for the amount of tools that you have with such compact batteries and the amount of new tools they always release. Since I’m in the engineering field I greatly admire the engineering that gets done with Milwaukee because of the fact that they listen to your request and wishes then bring it to life.

As most have said I and agree, great to see snap on release this at more "affordable" price compared to the big daddy model. Still hard to justify against the milwaukee cost.
However it's gotta be remembered about the good old drip feed payments. Alot of guys I've worked with don't have the money laying around to fork out for even the better priced milky. But the snap on guy will just drop the gun in your hand and all you see is £20 (or $) a week and all of a sudden you have a market leading gun and no hole in the wallet.
All that been said, 4 years and no new flag ship release means no doubt milwaukee are overdue, and have probably been developing a sledge hammer of an impact that will probably blow us away. Not to mention the 5 year warranty.
Personally I'm on the dewalt 899 with some decent flex volt 6ah batteries and to be fair day to day its more than enough for the stuff in the UK I work on. Any bolts it's snaps on suspension work etc well they were usually corroded to buggery anyway and just makes the decision for new bolts with that sus arm easier 😂
Thats what I've been saying about milwaukee for a year now and its not long till they come out swinging and claiming names. 4 years is a long time and they have the budget to develop something good.
In the world of tool truck brands, matco and snapon have continued to provide, where as Mac grabbed on to dewalt and really just overpriced the commercially available product.
Agreed but as pointed out in another comment the tool truck provides pretty decent financing (in my case 0%) for those tools I picked up my mac 1/2 with a desalt impact driver led flash light charger and 2 5 amp batteries for 650 cad and didn’t have to pay up front can’t do that at the retail stores and the pricing was very competitive just depends on the dealer

Wish Milwaukee would release a new smaller high torque. I'm sure it's in the works already, because you know during the torque wars, like trucks, someone always has to have the biggest number. The new snap on is definitely impressive and will drive everyone to do better.
I doubt it will be smaller. Ryobi went smaller and no one cared much, they just want numbers. Dewalt is going same size (8.8") so Milwaukee will be at least this same long again.
What really sucks about the "torque wars" is the absolute fudgery... you see snapon advertising 300 less ft lbs, but theyre actually accurate, compared to other that claim more, but deliver less...

Got it from my snap on dealer because this video and I’m a lucky fella I actually have some of the high output impact wrenches this Chanel reviews ( the Matco stubby green impact / nitro cat 1250k/9010 lol m12s 8850) with plenty of work as a line tech for the past decade and this gun so far has impressed me for an impact this size to output so much power I might actually have to put the air hose down (we wish?) Just did a transmission job and didn’t have to grab the Matco stubby or the 1250k has me wishing they can make a 3/8th version so I can trade that 9010 asap there is no reason for that behemoth 9080 I recently used now lmao
I would love to see entire brands rated on your system. If I want to recommend a brand to a apprentice of mine, it would be awesome to be able to recommend a brand vs power and price.
Once we have enough/similar number of examples from many brands we can make an episode like that.
If it's a tool truck brand go with the dealer you feel most comfortable with.

But my batteries are finally starting to die and my tools are starting to wear out. I’m considering changing brands. Any brand is an option for me.

my boss has both the 9080 and 9050 and i use both daily.. the 9080 for popping ball joints out and the like and the 9050 for everything else since it has plenty of beans but much lighter
I just got my self the snapon 9050 high vis impact wrench love it so far no heavy use on it yet got it for tire rotates only and for light mechanic work on the side

Also the 3/4" extensions, it was crazy how much torque they lost to the long 1/2" extension and im sure it would be less loss with 3/4". Both extension and 1/2" adapter must be tested together, my experience is that whenever extensions are needed it is for smaller socket sizes and not the typical bigger sockets for 3/4".
I got all the mentioned items but no way to do consistent testing.
@@djsi38t Yes that's my theory as well and the reason I'd like to see the XGT compared to these 1/2" impacts that are basically the same physical size as the Makita.
I would also like them to test this. I want to know how much power you loose using an adapter. I would be temped to use that Makita XGT with an adapter as my main impact.
If you can test some old nicad powered impacts like the snap on ct4850ho and others to see how it compares to modern lithium powered impacts

The issue with a crank bolt coming off is similar to using an extension to remove a bolt. Why cause what is keeping the engine crank from rotating when the nut is being impacted off? Just the pistons and compressed air within. They act as a damper decreasing the impacts effectiveness. Really the crank pulley needs to be locked down somehow ....

Funny thing is, I never heard about the famous Honda crank bolt until I bought a 7th gen civic that needed a motor. I was all game for it because that engine swap was a breeze. That is until I tried to get that crank bolt off with my 3/8 stubby, then a breaker bar, then a bigger bar after I broke the 3/8 one, then a 4' pipe on the 1/2" bar finally got it loose
Welcome to the Honda Crank Bolt Club. I went through a Few Impacts, torch and 8 foot breakerbar before I finally got it off with a 1inch Semi Impact from the shop down the street it sounded like a gun shot when it broke loose 🤣

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this but I just recently picked up a 9080 and I was having to remove the lug nuts on a JLG 9k forklift we typically use a 1” drive earthquake pneumatic gun which if I had to guess tightens those lug nuts to well over 600lb/ft+. Well she was breaking the lugs loose fairly easy with a good weighted socket but the gun just over heats SO fast I had to keep switching batteries out. My coworker who has a Milwaukee impact also tried to break them loose and the ones his impact couldn’t remove the 9080 handled with ease. But between the impact overheating and the weight and size of the tool it’s honestly really annoying. I’m really considering returning it and waiting for the gen 3 milwaukee to release.
Not really power tool related, but it's about Snap-On, just have a gripe with them. Just before Christmas i got a new Snap-On jacket, i tried it on to make sure it fit, but didn't zip it up. The next day i wore it to work and i noticed the zipper kept basically snagging on itself, i maybe the plastic of the zipper just didn't mold perfectly and would fix itself after use and wearing in. From late Dec to late Jan i wore the jacket probably on average every other day, minus a week where i was sick with covid. The zipper never got better and i intended to ask out Snap-On guy the next time i saw him, but then the zipper broke. The next time i saw our Snap-On guy was Feb 9th, he comes every other week and between hus vacation and my being sick with covid i didn't see him at all in January. When i finally saw him on Feb. 9th and showed him he said he cant warranty it and even if he could he cant get anymore of those jackets.
Im pissed, being sold a faulty product then being told your SOL.
So, i got the new jacket because I've been wearing the same North Face jacket for about 10 years now, everything still works perfectly on it, it's just getting old. It just really pisses me off that this very expensive Snap-On jacket breaks after a month and im SOL, but my 10 year old jacket that's been seriously abused still functions perfectly. Honestly im so pissed that the Snap-On guy wont get another dime out of me.

I hope everyone understands that snap on is expensive as hell but you are not dumping all that cash in one shot and that there is a payment plan that way that straight up price is a bit more manageable in paying it little by little and dose not cripple you like dumping 450 up front for a Milwaukee kit vs paying your snap on guy 60-80 bucks a week for your tools unless u get carried away and take the whole truck with you
I finally got the 9050, i got tired of my milwaukees battery rattling itself loose. Loved my m18 for 4 years but the battery thing was an issue the whole time. The 9050 for my real world use seems to be better all around. I like that its a little lighter, the milwaukee was annoying to use sometimes because it rattled too much during use, for me the 9050 seems to rattle a lot less but has more torque for sure.
About time snap on became competitive with their cordless impacts. I bet the warranty is only 1 year compared to 5 year for Milwaukee. It also still cost more coin! I can also go to a Home Depot and buy a battery or charger or tool if need be with Milwaukee. Also the M18 line up and M12 line up is just fantastic with tool options along with battery options. Team RED all the way still. I’m a proud father of M18 fuel mid torque M18 fuel high torque and m18 fuel drill M12 fuel stubby impact w/6amp hour and m12 right angle impact. I also still have air tools Matco MT2779. Gotta have a wide variety for the rust belt states

Further proof snap-off can make some quality tools, but they will do anything and everything just to get you to finance another purchase for something you either already have or don't need.

The new snap on 5 amp hour battery is claimed to be significantly better than the old battery pack (so my snap on rep says) The new battery only works on the new brushless snap on tools. I have a suspicion that the 9050 may have performed very similarly to the 9080 because the 9080 was tested with the old battery pack. I think using the new battery pack on the 9080 may give it a little more power and would recommend using that combo on the next test of the 9080 if there will be one.
I love this channel and I may be wrong but milwakee price comes with battery. I cant touch snap-on , Mac ,or Matco for the price on his screen with battery. Last checked Matco with battery and charger was 900
Would love to see how the new snap on brushless ct861 matches up to the milwaukee stubby. The only channel that has anything about output shows it doing pretty well but it's a pricey little guy. Just a suggestion, as always awesome videos man!

Same here, if snap on wants to charge me double the price of Milwaukee, then I expect double the performance that Milwaukee gave. In this video, that was not the case. Sure, it did beat Milwaukee, but not by much. If snap on can match Milwaukee's price, then I might consider it, even if its $50 more, but not double the price more.
@@zzzzzz...9902 Even if Snap-On was able to match the price of Milwaukee, they don’t have nearly as expensive of a tool platform. As someone that uses a good chunk of the M18 line up, a couple ft-lbs doesn’t make a big enough difference to run multiple platforms.

I own a first gen Fuel 1/2 impact that is now ancient by current standards but continues to never miss a beat. I'm not about to change over because of the M18 tools I own. You're too late, SO!
And, it won't be long before Milwaukee comes out with a new high torque gun. You guys are right; my old M18 fuel meets my needs 99.9% of the time.

I haven't touched my 9080 since I got my 9050. Now I see why. I knew it was strong but didn't realize it was just about as strong as the 9080. Love that snap on is soaking up all the Milwaukee fan boy tears with their new brushless line up.
I'm not a milwaukee fanboy, but I'll keep the few hundred in my pocket for such a negligible improvement in power.

One thing i consider when i buy power tools is the ecosystem. How do the rest of those tools perform compared to the industry’s heavy hitters? I know they offer a grinder and recip saw.
I think Snapon’s method has always been to never outsell their own brand. They still offer the brushed 8850, if they blew its specs out of the water no one would want to buy it and I’m sure they still have a lot of inventory on trucks and warehouses. I noticed too they kind of keep you in the dark about upcoming models because that would make people wait for the next best thing. Some tactics I also were met by on the tool truck were “oh this model isn’t going to be made in green”. Of course that was the case when the red tools were in hand and stocked on the truck. Put that G at the end of the part number and voila we have a green tool 2 weeks later lol. The older brushed models had a progression of motor upgrades over the years. I have two 8850’s one was rebuilt due to it being underpowered right out of the box and another that I bought for $100 that’s was trashed when I sent it in. The two guns were rebuilt a few years apart and the more recent seems to have more beans than the other had straight from service. Both rebuilds sound almost like the brushless motors I use in my Rc airplanes, maybe a different speed controller is utilized as well. Have you tested 8850 impact guns to see how they stack up?

The makita 18v xwt08z that's been out for years has been making these same numbers. BL Motor delivers 740 ft. lbs. of max torque and 1,180 ft. lbs of breakaway torque.
I have the Ridgid with the 9ah battery, the Snap-on 9050 and Snap-on 9080, the Ridgid is a beast but pure junk, bolts kept loosening up then blew the nose off after one year of use, the Snap-on cordless impacts are built for abuse, I'm a heavy suspension tech
Good to see Snap-On actually competing for once, this is only good news for the consumer because it'll just force other manufacturers to improve.
Although I don't think results from Snap-on don't matter as much as some may think because the mechanics that have been suckered into the tool truck life will buy them regardless of performance, they're already so deep in debt that an extra few hundred bucks means nothing and they can just continue to shoot the tool truck guy a few bucks per week in hopes of paying everything off by the time they retire or quit the job.
Its all about how their tool truck buddy sells it to them and once one guy in the shop gets a snappy impact the rest will soon follow.
Case in point being that people actually bought last years models which were insanely underpowered and overpriced when compared to their competition.
At my dealership with about 20 techs you couldn't be more wrong, most everyone is using Milwaukee and I've seen several people sell and trade the snapon electric garbage for Milwaukee after they try it
@@99yellowz Guess it really just depends on the area you live huh? Just about everyone at my dealership has a fairly decent collection of snap-on stuff, of course any smart person is gonna have a mixed bag, some manufacturers do better in certain areas and whatnot. But I also live in a decent area and most of the techs there are pulling a 6 figure income. I've got tools from all different brands and can say confidently that my snap-on stuff tends to just be easier to work with as a mechanic, plus the tool truck coming every week going around replacing broken stuff and getting engaged with all the techs is a nice experience. I had planned on getting the M-18 impact but having used both I enjoy the ct9050 much more. Regardless of power output, its just a more livable gun, lighter, more comfortable, better balance in the hand imo. The fact that it makes more power and is built in the US is just a bonus. From what I've observed serious technicians poke jokes at snap-on for being pricey, the broke ones just get upset about what they can't have without breaking the bank. Out of all my tools my american, german, and japanese made tools seem to always outperform and outlast that cheap Chinese crap.
Milwaukee all the way guys. Not worth the expense for snap on they all pretty close in torque also only 5amp hr batteries from snap on.
I swore I would never pay Snap-On money for an electric impact but I'm going to get one. I'll report back in one year with my review.
Can't wait to see the difference in power Ridgids new true 2700's cell 8amp battery will have on that Hightorque and Midtorque once it's released here shortly. The Octane 3.0 lays down some serious beans for it size so givin the Octane 9.0 is only running 18650's the new 8amp with almost triple 2700's may retake the top spot 🤷♂️ Although Milwaukee should be coming out with a smaller more powerful Hightorque with tri-beam design like the Gen 2 Midtorque soon👍🏼
Imagine if Snap On dropped a battery with 2700. I'm pretty sure the side latch battery in this video is the same 18650 as the other ones.

Size wise it looks to be between Milwaukee Hightorque and Gen 1 Midtorque pretty nice. If they can shrink this down to a midtorque version the size of the Gen 2 milwaukee that be crazy. I'm sure Milwaukee should have a answer to everyone soon since the 2767 is already long in the tooth.

I have the older model it's a 2020 model and that damn thing at 3/8 drive is just insane. I use it on everything. only thing iv found it can't take off is red lock tighted and ran in with air.

I’m getting the ct9050 but right now I have milwaukees high torque with a 5.0 and two 6.0 high output and my milwaukee is about 4 years old but now the battery is crazy sloppy cuts off on me and I have to nudge it, so going for the ct9050 and if milwaukee comes out with a new high torque I’ll get that when and if it comes out.
My theory, on Snap On calling it midsize, is judging "size" on weight. Perhaps it's weight class is "midsize"?
Whether Snap On usees (physical) size or weight, since they released a mid-, they gotta release a full size! I want to see it!

So the snap on beat the Milwaukee by 31 ft lb of torque but I ended up purchasing a brand new Milwaukee m18 high torque with a 5 amp battery for around 200 dollars in October due to the fact that I found some great deals from home depot so for a third of the price there is only 31 ft lb I think I got the better deal and I bet that the warranty is better on the Milwaukee and the fact that they have a much better selection of tools. I have spent less than 2,000 dollars in the last 6 months on Milwaukee on m12 and m18 and have over 4,000 dollars retail. I just bought the m12 stubby 3/8 and 1/4 impact gun and the m12 3/8 and 1/4 inch high speed ratchet and the 3/8 extended for around 600 to 650 dollars without batteries but I have quite a few of those.

I've switched to snap on 14.4 from m12 due to battery issues and terrible warranty service. Still have m18 stuff, been considering the switch to snap on completey. Just a little hesitant about the 18 volt stuff.

I love my milwaukee impact. I've never tested a snapon or matco one but after getting on there trucks at the shop with those prices scared me. Lol I had to run off there trucks. I've seen guys at the shop with lots of debt buying there tools. It looks like they are on a payment plan or something. I'm ok buying low budget tools if it can get the job done. I think I'll stick with milwaukee. It hasn't let me down yet 🤞.

You should try the dewalt 1/2” and 3/8” air impacts, I have the 3/8” air impact and it’s pretty good for the price! I’d love to see how it would perform against the other air impacts!
i really want to see the husky H4480 air impact from home depot. they advertise 800 ftlbs. it hits really strong and is only 119 . great value.

Well. If I was going to buy a snap on torque gun this would be the one. But I'm very happy with my Milwaukee.
My 9080 has been stopped once by a rusted old leaf spring shackle but nobody had a weighted socket that size. it eats crank pulley bolts for breakfast
i would like to see how long they all survive in heavy use
Ugh I hope snap on doesn’t go to a pinch lock battery like yea they are hard to remove in both 18v and 14.4v but I like that I hated my old Milwaukees due to the batteries always disconnecting while in use cause they wiggle loose
Milwakee sets the bar then 12 months later dewank and fapon catch up and raise the bar another inch then milwakee comes back in and sets the bar another 2 foot higher and the process repeats.
Holy smokes that 9050 makes some BEANS kinda sad on the Snap-on SEP only has the CT9080 listed but considering its torque numbers aint bad for 560usd for a whole kit.

snap on power ratings are with 1 bar of battery, apparently.
also might retire the 2767 for this in green. everything green in my tool box. also the battery shake is annoying and my 2767 often jumps from setting 3 to setting 2 and its too annoying to deal with. im also dumping m12 line into the house box and going with 14.4 line because of milwaukee's battery issues. great tools, just can't have 100 dollar batteries falling to the floor.
