I remember playing TRILOGY and my mom asked who was playing the piano. I told her it was a Rock and Roll artist named Keith Emerson. Teamed up with a brilliant guitar/bass player/vocalist and lyricist in Greg Lake. And a power drummer who can find nuances as well in Carl Palmer. "Three Guys?" "Yup,THREE GUYS!" RIP Keith wherever you are.
Makes me happy to know the music lives on. I last met Keith on May 5th 2010 on the Emerson Lake tour. I first met Keith in 1972. It's people like you and Rachel Flowers that keep his memory alive.🎹
Rachel is also one of the most incredible phenomenons on the planet. I got to sit next to her and speak at length to her and ask really deep questions about her musicality. A wonderful soul and off the charge with talent at many instruments.
A truly beautiful rendition of this wonderful ELP song. I am in awe of how you captured Keith so well. Please continue to keep his now silent musical voice alive.
Thank you kindly. These guys were some of greatest of all time -- I'm only trying to emulate their greatness. I appreciate the kind words and your thoughtful comment.
There's no better honor than to have talented people reproduce your creations. Keith deserves that honor in spades. But this effort/homage comes with its own reward. If I could ever do what you're doing, I would be the happiest man.
Kyle, that was a beautiful rendition of Trilogy. The music of ELP means a lot to me, I grew up with them in the 70's. And they say that "you can't take it with you". But let me tell you this: If my spirit survives beyond this mortal coil, I will take the feelings and memories of their music with me for all eternity!
Just subscribed and I feel like singing now. Thank you. I've tried to mend The love that ended Long ago although we still pretend Our love is surely coming to an end Don't waste the time you've got to love again We tried to lie But you and I Know better than to let each other lie The thought of lying to you makes me cry Counting up the time that's passed us by I've sent this letter hoping it will reach your hand And if it does I hope that you will understand That I must leave in a while And though I smile You know the smile is only there to hide What I'm really feeling deep inside Just a face where I can hang my pride Goodbye Goodbye We'll talk of places that we went And times that we have spent Together penniless and free You'll see the day another way And they could put the sunshine for a nighttime where you lay You're love began I don't know when But if you do I know that you'll be happy in the end
@Kyle Moore I was listening to ELP’s “ The Three Fates” tonight. The middle section, Lachesis, is so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes in some of it. Can you play that?
Amazing! You're amazing. Just let me respectfully say something: this bass note around 1:58 is A sharp actually (slightly before Lake sings "goodbye"). I don't know this was deliberate, but I enjoyed anyway. Cheers
Lovely! Now your next challenge is to mic that piano better. I'm listening on a really good sound system and your playing is beautiful and expressive, but that Steinway has lost its lower register.
I was waiting for this part ruclips.net/video/mbTVIpN5zeM/видео.html but it never materialised. I can see why, cuz it's fearsome difficult to convey on a solo piano ...
Very good point. I decided to just do the first part of Trilogy, the grand piano section. I do have the sheet music for the rest of the song, and seeing the video you linked to makes me realize it's totally possible to do it on grand piano. Someday I will make a new video where I play the entire thing! Thank you for the inspiration 👊
Why do you keep damping the sustain instead of letting the notes ring out ? It keeps breaking the mood of the piece and makes it sound fragmented and loses the natural flow of a beautiful composition. You seem to have managed to lose all the lyrical qualities and fluidity of Keith's phrasing and it just sounds stilted. It's a shame because you sure can play - but for me the soul of the song is not there.
@@KyleMoorePiano You are very good at this, far better than me, but let the thing ring out and flow like Keith did. It is just a piece that is very special for me and I am sorry if I came across as the Emerson police ! I love your humour / sarcasm - much appreciated and pure class.
Tony: Intentional variations in tempo comprise a vital dimension in musical expression: Maybe a version with lyrics will put this into a different perspective: ruclips.net/video/Vcxw0UFyxi0/видео.html Wishing you well.
It's almost good. Too much key dynamics are absent. You are not allowing the note sustain to work and ring out. It is NO WAY close to the studio recording. Emerson accented more of the treble notes. This lack luster performance gets a C + . Put some effort and work into this piece and you will bring out the acoustic brilliance. So, this was a good, first-pass, attempt. Sorry.

Wow. Thank you for the kind words 👊
Great to see someone keeping Keith's spirit alive....thanks for posting !
Oh thank you for listening. We need more people like you to appreciate this music!
Wow, fantastic job. I'm a 64 year old ELP fan that teared up hearing this.
Thank you Matt! 😭
56 Years Old but same result. Thank you Matt. I found you via a Rick Wakeman play list. You have to be thrilled about that.

Most definitely agree!

So much addiction / devotion - one of my most favorite songs and so perfectly performed !
Thank you for your kind words!

Wow, that's gotta be the kindest compliment I've received in a while. Thank you. Happy new year to you!

Just beautiful.
Вечная музыкальная тема, а пианист умница. Так держать.
Well-done! Nice and unique interpretation.
I really love beautiful music like that.
Fantastic rendition. Marvelously played. And that Steinway sounds fantastic.
Right on Mr. Tennis, thank you! Yes, that Steinway can't be beat :)
Kyle, that was a beautiful rendition of Trilogy.

I've tried to mend
The love that ended
Long ago although we still pretend
Our love is surely coming to an end
Don't waste the time you've got to love again
We tried to lie
But you and I
Know better than to let each other lie
The thought of lying to you makes me cry
Counting up the time that's passed us by
I've sent this letter hoping it will reach your hand
And if it does I hope that you will understand
That I must leave in a while
And though I smile
You know the smile is only there to hide
What I'm really feeling deep inside
Just a face where I can hang my pride
Goodbye
Goodbye
We'll talk of places that we went
And times that we have spent
Together penniless and free
You'll see the day another way
And they could put the sunshine
for a nighttime where you lay
You're love began I don't know when
But if you do I know that
you'll be happy in the end
Obra cumbre de ELP, disco épico. Felicitaciones, excelente interpretación 👏
Gracias amigo!
Hermosa obra del gran Keith Emerson
Excellent. I love that you play the melody instead of the backing chords. I play the same way! NICE
It's the best way to play! RIGHT ON
Wow...takes me back to a totally different time - a better one in so many ways.
Funny how the past always seems better. I totally agree with you
Very nicely played, thanks it made my day. Keith was a genius and is sorely missed 👏👏👏
Absolutely agree
You should sing this amazing song! I love your rendition.
Oh you don't want to hear me sing!
Bravo from New Orleans Kyle🎭
This really warms the heart. TY

Masterful music and beautifully played. Thank you 🙏

It’s a beautiful piece isn’t it? Keith Emerson was a giant.
I really like your touch.
@Kyle Moore
Well I have to say since you commented I had to watch your video again. I smiled the whole time. You are a beautiful player. Bravo!

How very kind of you to say. Thank you :)
Perfectly played. And that Steinway sounds great.
What an awesome thing to say! Thank you! Yes indeed, that Steinway ruled
I liked it. I find there's a good balance between delivering the original sound and giving the piece a personal touch. Cheers!
Thank you Riccardo - that is a solid compliment! Always striving to honor the spirit of the original while doing my own thing :)
That was really great. Thank You.
🙌
Magnificent

Incrível como a imaginação logo traz a voz de Greg Lake com Keith Emerson tocando.

keith would be proud of his legacy
Thank you kindly, Luc
Wonderful God bless Keith and Greg😢
Absolutely yes, thank you for listening!
That sounds very similar to Spartacus from the group Triumvirat..
Some songs are just perfect for Solo Piano renditions. I love ELP but I like this piano cover more than the original.
You are correct, some songs are perfect for solo piano interpretation. I feel this way about a lot of musical theater.
Lovely! Now your next challenge is to mic that piano better. I'm listening on a really good sound system and your playing is beautiful and expressive, but that Steinway has lost its lower register.
Where can i get transcriptions of Keith Emerson solos?
I would try musicnotes.com first

Keith rip lost use of his hands couldnt deal with it among other issues
Note perfect, but the timing and pacing is a bit off. Listen to the original and feel it instead of just playing it.
Yeah, I barely tried
Pessimo
Guy looks like he's got indigestion ..
🤮🤢
Bad timing ..
Just waiting for your video to show us all how it should be played !

Brilliant song played in a ludicrously affected way by a narcissist.
