On February 11, 2012 Rachel was privileged to play Keith Emerson's modular moog. To see Keith Emerson's introduction and excerpts of Trilogy and Hoedown, go here:
• Rachel Flowers on the ...
She totally speaks Keith Emerson fluently. What ever unique trait that Keith had that caused him to create his music, Rachel comprehends completely. We are fortunate to have someone capable of keeping his legacy alive for a new generation of listeners.
Agreed. The section where she's using both hands and both feet on the keyboards is not next level; it's next universe.
Beautiful!Hats off.
@@barryclay9084 Yeah, it's like she actually has different brains each one controlling a a hand or foot independently. It's mystifying. I guess Keith could do it as well, right?
Absolutely blown away by that playing! As a huge ELP fan, I have tears listening to her play. What a talent!
There is nothing , in between❤ her , and the music- ❤all one entity 😊
Rachel, thank you for keeping Keith 's music alive.
❤
People like her give me hope that humanity still has a chance.
***** Truly great comment, Dakota Duncan, I do subscribe it! :-)
Dakota Duncan yes yes yes! She is an angel from heaven, I love Rachel and I listen to this and tear up every time.
your so write
Dakota Duncan yes thats is so cool i think shes ok and the rest of us are handicapped i luv rachel flowers!!!
Well said!
Keith is gone, but his music continues..........
Roll up
See the show
How does she play such complex music and never make a wrong note, and all of it just by feeling where the keys are. Absolutely astonishing talent. Best thing ive found on RUclips in ages.
When you put in the time like she has you don't need to see the keys. I am sighted but enjoy playing in a pitch black room. Why she is amazing has nothing to do with her being blind. She is crazy talented, has a great ear and has worked hard to play the way she has.
Erm. Nope. Playing blind is why it is amazing.
@@judgeberry6071 I can play completely in the dark and I am not blind. She's amazing because she is amazing that is all.
Any good keyboard artist should be able to play without looking at the keys. But that said, what Rachel does is so much more than JUST play a keyboard. She's fluent on multiple instruments but more importantly, she seems to actually become a part of the instrument. She is nothing short of amazing and in my humble opinion, one of the greatest musicians alive.
@@jlimarick I agree as a keyboard player myself I am so impressed with her playing but her being blind has nothing to do with it.
Where Rachel lives, the neighbors yell "TURN IT UP!"
This is a great comment - SO funny and good.
YOU PLAYS WONDERFUL !!
Cute .. but so true ...
I would sing the GL part!!!
@@joemachunda No I would. It is a man singing it.
I’ve known this song well for my entire life. This is nothing short of extraordinary. I’ll listen to this many times. Thank you Rachel.
Possibly the finest, most gorgeous song that Keith ever wrote. Rachel does a fantastic job covering it.
Agreed . My favorite composition by Keith. Seeing Rachel do Keith one better and play her own bass lines made me smile. Such amazing talent.
She certainly is amazing. She can ably carry on Keith's legacy along with Palmer. That would be awesome, all they would need is a good singer & bassist. She plays Trilogy (which is a dynamic musical piece)to a T.Go for it,Rachel, you have a well of musical genius to draw from & people still desire to hear it.🎹🎼🎶🥁
Totally, it's a sublime work, you know I don't think ELP ever did it live!
@@countvespasian1659 I think you're right. I never thought about that.
Agreed
It’s not just the notes, this lady also gets the emotion into the music just as Keith did. Amazing.
Not to mention that the tempo and phrasing are spot on!
@@billvill61 Truly gifted !!!
how can 11 people dislike this she is blind amazing peformence amazing person a credit to mankind what an insperation
Eleven morons.
it's up to 39 now. Idiots all!!!
They must be deaf and blind!
Tom Middleton and dumb
Incredible! I'm pleased that Keith got to know Rachel and borrowed her his Modular Moog. It couldn't have been in safer hands!
If you truly know Emerson, Lake, and Palmers history and the entire breadth of their musical career, then you truly know how very special this is to hear and see! I thought at first it must be his daughter! If these interpretations of Keith’s music doesn’t bring tears to your eyes like it did mine watching all her videos, THEN YOU AINT HUMAN!
Very special, can't see the light of day, but she can see and feel the music.
I just want to get up and sing!
We’ll talk of places that we’ve been and times that we have spent together penniless and free….. 🎵🎼🎶🎼🎵
Rachel privileged? I believe the Moog was privileged to have her! Outstanding performance!
I think we are all privileged to hear Rachel play. I don't believe in any god, and I know that Jeannie, Rachel's wonderful mum, believes her talent is god given. Either way, the world needs to know that we are capable of more than blowing people up with bombs and rockets. We can move people, and become better through the power of music.
Philip Chadwick I totally agree, I got not more to say. :-)

An a n g e l who keeps Keith Emerson's life on earth a l i v e! Thanks Rachel!
I just continue to be so floored by Rachel. I have to tell her how special it is to hear ELP's music carried on, but to hear Rachel play it on Keith's moog is like a dream. Carry on the tradition Rachel. I know that Keith is proud and honored. He'll be deeply missed.
"Floored" is surely the description I would use also. Amazing talent !
Rachel is so talented! I HOPE CARL PALMER invites her to play with his ELP Legacy
What a great idea!
A PHENOMENAL idea!! Carl!!! Are you listening???
BRILLIANT IDEA !
I fifth the motion! Okay 4th; I'll learn to count any day now! 😁

This moment is so touching! 2:54
Nobody could NOT love Rachel.
Honestly there are no words to adequately describe how absolutely wonderful this is…
I am 58 years of age so I was a prime teen when this was released. An average teen with a thirst for good modern music. I have always loved the piano, but could never play more than a couple of riffs. ELP were a big influence on me growing up and I loved them. One of my first vehicles was a van, and I pumped up the stereo in there to them. Maybe why I have Tinniness now. haha
We had fun so I guess you can say it was worth it.
I was searching for some old ELP stuff and came across Rachel. I watched two of her videos last night before bed.
I had to check her out again today. You know what ?………I didn't even realize till now when I saw her walk over to the key boards that she was blind.
I just love her, and the way she plays it so like Emerson.
I am in tears. Tears of joy.
What a wonder girl and a wonder gift she has. I am so happy that she is able to express herself in her music.
Beautiful.
You know I did the same thing......................what a talent! She plays ELP so spot on you could not tell the difference.
Sadly she is all we have lefy. I'll Go to R?P tomorrow when it happens!
richaroodledoodle I’m 60 and had a few ELP 8-TRACKS. Rick Wakeman too.
richaroodledoodle:::::: Headphones and 150watt Sansui amplifiers will take it's toll but man did it sound good.
All of us ELP fans feel the same way...
wow, im out of words, this is incredible, i feel like im literally hearing an acapella version of the original version
...And on the eighth day, God made Rachel, and He listened to her play, and God said "HOLY $@#&! -- I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS EVEN POSSIBLE!"
+SwampMan
...And on the ninth day, God said "Thou shalt not giveth
any of Rachel's videos a thumbs down, for I shall smite thee."
And to top that, even Emerson was impressed!
Very likely even the great Keith (RIP) couldn't play like Rachel when he was her age... Go Rachel!
I'm the dead living.. I wonder why I stay alive, life is just so banal and perfunctory anymore. There is nothing new under the sun, I think to myself... But then along comes Rachel Flowers. It makes me happy to see her play. She could have chosen any type of music to play and master. BUT NO, she went and mastered the greatest musical style of the 20th Century.
I like that one!
I'm an absolute fan of ELP, this performance is even almost an improvement on their recordings, exceptional
Astounding! We love you, Rachael ❤
I am embarrassed to admit , until today whilst looking for Keith Emerson music and videos, I found Rachel. I had never heard of her but she is a gem. I am a fan!!!
pepe cohetes count me in
this is mindless junk made by people who do not understand prog please go and bach up another tree
@jamie wesson: You are a tasteless troglodyte with no sense of musicality. Retreat to your monotone hovel.
Once in a lifetime. Never see this level again. Yes, ahem, God does exist.
Ah, Jamie... you again. I grant you the freedom to express your opinion, but I also grant the world the freedom to disagree with you, as I'm sure it does already.
I had seen Rachael's videos years ago and was quite impressed. 5 years ago I was given a ticket to Greg Lake in Ventura and sat behind Rachael and her mom. Was talking to them for a while before I realized she was the same girl I watched on RUclips. Then last year went to see Zappa plays Zappa. Dweezil brought her out on stage to play guitar. She was as accomplished on guitar as you see she is on keys. I've been around musicians my whole life but.....it's not just talent...the best part is she's a wonderful person🎹
Thomas Richmond Thanks for sharing this. I feel like I was there too.
What a wonderful experience to share with us ELP fans... many thanks 👏👏
The most fluent cover I've heard of this on RUclips, great job Rachel!
I'm in awe. I sat here with my mouth wide open. This young lady is truly a genius and treasure and she has great taste in musicians...lol
If you haven't heard this (or even if you have), you might just love this: ruclips.net/video/jG0eKE1LVgE/видео.html This woman is simply wired into music. What a joy.
I started playing Trilogy on the piano while I was in high school. The only way I could play it was to start and stop a vinyl record and learn a few measures at a time. It's a truly difficult piece but Rachel is amazing, and she captures it like no one else. Famous people who shall remain nameless have tried to play this, but they don't have it almost note for note like Rachel does, nor do they have the feeling for the piece as she does. She puts everything into it. She also gets the EXACT sounds that Keith used. BRAVO!!!
I am sooo amazed by her. To remember EVERY note of Keith Emersons compositions is just incredible and beyond belief! I love this girl!!!!
Welcome Back My Friends to The Show That Never Ends. Keeping ELP Alive. Love you Rachel for everything you do and a big shout out to your mom.
Amazing gifted child. It's almost as if Keith lives on in her.
+Stephen Quinn In the profile view, at least on this performance, she even looks like him.
@@bradtarr3283 Yes! Lol

Indeed
she is Keith Emerson reincarnated
Tears in my eyes now! Closet rendition yet! All those fond fond memories of family & friends who are lost & gone
When I was 8, my begged my brother to let me listen to music on his Sony Walkman. I had no musical taste of my own, so he gave me his ELP Trilogy cassette hoping I would like it. This song is burned into my memory because I would fall asleep to it as a kid many nights. ELP had a major influence on music in my life along with Yes. I don’t know why, but it makes me emotional listening to Trilogy. You have done Keith proud. Good work!
All anguish pain and sadness
Leave your heart and let your road be clear . tears in a good way
If I didn’t know better, I would’ve thought that I was listening to Keith Emerson himself! 👏🏻
This girl is absolutely phenomenal. It's like a sign from God or something. It's like it just defies logic, given her age and condition!
Not everything is a sign from god.
truly phenomenal and if Keith were alive, he would smile at this young lady
@@boboladouche5268 this is one of them sorry you have no faith
It's a sign that she needs a new wardrobe
Marty this was done before his death tho
I LOVE THIS. THIS IS AMAZING. She was able to get the church organ out the backdoor, into the parking lot and pushed it all the way home without anyone seeing her. My God she is talented. It was 45 minutes into the 8 O'clock Sunday morning sermon before anybody said anything. "Morning Stan, morning Bob gosh it's quiet in here. WAIT A MINUTE WHERE'S THE ORGAN?" I'm telling you this chick is going places.
I've never seen someone so inspired by Keith Emerson in my life as much as Rachel.
The woman has the whole setup down to a science.
No doubt if she could see she would be Slammin the Hammond?
This is so beautiful what you have dedicated your talent to and to a fabulous keyboardist such as Keith Emerson.
Has Carl Palmer ever sat in with this woman?
Everything I see this woman play goes straight to my heart. What a rare and precious human being she is!
Honestly, I feel like an idiot (partially because I'm at work) but this makes my eyes uncontrollably wet.
+punishmentforall same here.
+Ez Acosta You two aren't alone, believe me. There are no words; it's just too amazing.
The reason for that is because her playing illustrates Keith's artistry almost better than the records. Tarkus especially is a gorgeous thing on grand piano alone. Such a loss. RIP Keith. I miss you so much. Thankful I got to meet you, albeit briefly.
Dude, this made me cry. I don't care who knows it, it's a fact.
@@russell_szabados me too
It's crazy! I can't believe to what I am listening tò and watching.....
Having just picked my chin up from the floor. Now my goosebumps have goosebumps. Wow. Fantastic.
Beautifully done. Rachel, you are a gift to this world. Appreciate all of your posts! 🎹💊❤
I am left speechless.
i like it ..!
Viktoria VanHolten We all are!
Rachel you should be doing world tours (but I wouldn’t want to be your roady with all of those keyboards).. There are heaps of ELP fans all over the world. You bring such life back into the music. I’d definitely pay to see you.

This frigging made me cry
Rachel must really love it also. Thank you, Rachel!
Astonishing performance. I was totally transfixed. Rachael is a truly amazing!
Thinking about the endless number of times I have listened to this incredible album…
We all love you Rachel!
My favorite version of this epic poem, Gracias Rachel. That poster by the Moog looks like the Genesis Trespass album cover.
Incredible. This girl has more talent in her fingers than I have in my entire body.
awesome - now it is Rachel's job to keep Emos memory alive - and she has been doing it well - such an amazing young women - and what sad news we have just gotten - yes getting older is no fun especially with illnesses - but we will she Keith in the resurrection soon here on a peaceful earth - all your support for Rachel is much appreciated Jeanie - and such a joy to hear Rachel play the ELP music - and yes Rachel will have her sight soon -
Rachel - you are privileged indeed to have played Keith's Moog, and we are privileged to witness it here. You are awesome and an inspiration in equal measure. Quite the most remarkable talent I have come across. So long as you have breath in your body - please keep Keith's legacy alive!
I started listening to this music in 1970 when I was 14 years old. I had my bedroom in the basement and would crank this up so loud. I wonder what my mother thought back in those days. So happy to see the legacy live on in Rachel.
That performance brought tears to my eyes. This is the first I heard of Rachel what an inspiration.
What a great performance! And what an impressive setup of instruments and hardware. Rachel indeed has the musicianship and technique to get the most out of it.
I must be going a little crazy! That made me weep openly. I am a newly converted fan of Rachel's (longtime fan of ELP)
AND she also plays Zappa? I'm headed right to it...
Might be an understatement to say she "plays Zappa." Maybe it's beyond that. FZ passed away December 4, 1993, and, also in southern California, 17 days later, on Frank's birthday, Rachel was born. Keep that in mind when you hear a Zappaesque solo come out of her.
Are you suggesting soul transmigration?
It probably sounds like I'm suggesting "soul transmigration," or something like that, but I find such a thing exceedingly unlikely. However, I do believe in examining all strange phenomena with an open mind, and the Frank-Rachel thing qualifies. Listening to this young woman's casually-Zappaesque guitar solo on her cover of Inca Roads, while thinking about the chronological and geographical connection between her and Frank, causes me to tilt my head at the loudspeakers, like my dog when I play a recording of a howling wolf.....There is SOMETHING goin' on here...
Long time Zappa fan. Long time ELP fan. Recently became big time Rachel fan.
" FZ passed away December 4, 1993, and, also in southern California, 17 days later, on Frank's birthday, Rachel was born".
If that doesn't give you goose bumps and/or make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, nothing will !!
caveatemp I did the same she is soooooo good , I can't find the word to express how I feel so how bout Rachel thank you sweeeetie a fan for life.
Racheal has really highlighted how many of the greatest contemporary composers of our time were rockers, Keith Emerson and Frank Zappa being perfect examples. Thank you, Rachel, for your fantastic interpretations and for giving the next generations a chance to hear these treasures in a fresh context.
Heaven has sent us an Angel ! Thank you Lord ! ! !
Stunning song and playing here.
So being blind she obviously just hears the music and remembers it all. Truly amazing. I wonder how many listens it takes before she can recall all the music. She obviously has perfect pitch. And she shares a birthday with Frank Zappa!
"And she shares a birthday with Frank Zappa!"
THAT speaks volumes.
""And she shares a birthday with Frank Zappa!"
I, too, did not know this ! (Although I saw a RUclips video of her playing with The Dweeze and wondered what the connection was - beyond her amazing musicianship).
Amazing coincidence (?) ! I am a huge fan of Frank's (and Rachel's) !
Look at her video's. She plays live with Dweezil. in the Zappa plays Zappa Band. I know they do "Montana" and maybe some others.. her guitar is no less brilliant than her piano.
Check out her bio on Wikipedia. It says her mom showed her how to play twinkle twinkle little star at age two and she had it down instantly. She could hear something and through a little trial and error learn to play just from hearing it. She started formal music training at age 4 1/2 at the Southern California Conservatory of Music. She has performed with the likes of Dweezil Zappa, Arturo Sandoval, Taylor Eigsti, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, Marc Bonilla, Jordan Rudess, Steve Porcaro, Rick Wakeman, Burt Bacharach, Bob Reynolds...
I am in my 60's so I grew up with ELP. Every show blew me away! So I come upon Rachel and not since all those years ago have I been moved by music. Until today. You Rachel are fantastic. Well done!
This is wonderful. I've listened to this on vinyl enough times to recognize Rachel's interpretation is spot-on. it does make me tear up that she's assimilated this piece so well, such a fitting tribute to Mr. Emerson. Nice programming whoever worked on all the patches for this. Bravo, Rachel.
Gene Stopp works on it. It's entirely possibly that those are Keith's patches she is actually playing.
How did patches exactly work on a Moog Modular? Did he have to sit for hours twindling knobs until sounds sounded good, and then save it to a button or something? I don't imagine he started messing with knobs during the concert.
Yes, the process involves using patch cords to connect modules and adjust knobs until you get the sound you want, then repeat for the next sound. Keith's Moog had the selector box modification (on the bench beside Rachel) with pushbuttons to select from multiple pre-made patches.
Bob sure had to work like hell while projecting presets for his analog synthesizers!
Fsaxwas9 well said couldn't agree more 👍
Watching her videos bring back memories of seeing ELP on the Works Volume II tour, unbelievable.
That's one crazy music room she's got there. She obviously knows how to get the most out of every one of those keyboards.
She needs a great vocalist and Bill Bruford.
Not often I cry, but watching this I am - tears of joy.
I add myself to the list of men eho cried listening and watching her play. Keith is there, on her shoulders. This is beautiful. Music is a miracle.
Toujours agreeable de vous entendre Rache.🥰🥰🥰
love this song brilliant tribute to Keith, think she is a classic on the keys, thank you Rachel❤
Every now and then I see Rachel Flowers playing on RUclips and it makes me cry facing such greatness. Now I understand how transcendence may be exemplified.
I am just stunned speechless. I'm 65 and remember when this came out. Rachel is just amazing.
Greetings from Oregon. Fantastic. Keith is smiling. Hope to meet you someday.
I wish I could upvote this a thousand times
It was around 4 09 her Parents started shouting "Turn that dowwwwn"! This is amazing. I never knew this lady was blind until I saw this. Mind blowing.
Holy Jeeezus... I'm dreaming, right? A blind maestro playing ELP Trilogy?? This girl is absolutely positively amazing. Bravo, Rachel... you are incredible!
Gracias / Thanks Rachel , you make me cry just to feel the way play this gem of ELP God bless you
My heart overflows …. I am speechless. You are a blessing and a flower in WAY more than name. Angels hover over you. Thank you. Big hugs.
I've listened to this many times and it's moving everytime. I think it's better without lyrics. Hats off to you Rachel
This is the only way I can cope with Keith passing... I don't know about you the rest of you, but I keep coming back to this vid, and it makes me feel better... Rachel does not only play the music, but also puts her feeling and soul into it!!!
Thanks Again and may God bless you and your family!! -Luis
OH WOW, IM BLOWN AWAY, that was sensational, well done that girl, Keith would have loved this. ❤️
Rachel - you're the best!
I have been the biggest Emerson, Lake & Palmer fan for many, many years. You have no idea. I know their albums inside and out and never grow tired of their amazing music.
Now enter Rachel Flowers. I am blown away again and again by your ELP perfection. I have seen your outstanding group performances and now this solo. These are my favorite videos on RUclips. Endless Enigma, Karn Evil, and now this. I am so totally impressed on so many multiple levels.
God bless you, Rachel. You're the princess of music.
My absolute favorite parts are your piano solo on Endless Enigma and your surprisingly phenomenal guitar playing on Karn Evil. I get teary eyed and choked up. Wow, I can't say enough.
But really every moment of your playing keeps my undivided attention. Because, like you, I love every single keystroke of Keith Emerson and I love everything else that comes from Greg Lake and Carl Palmer.
I can go on and on but maybe that's enough.
Thank you. Thank you so very much.
This girl is a genius!
Miss Rachel Flowers is a miracle, and a musical phenomenon.
Fabulous. So pleased to see that she will be playing at the Keith Emerson Tribute Concert on 25th July 2017 at Birmingham Symphony Hall. I've got my ticket - so looking forward to it.
BLOODY AMAZING. RACHEL ❤❤❤
I wept through the whole tribute ..she is a treasure and an amazing blind keyboardist.God bless you for making so many happy with your incredible gift!
Gene Stopp bending down and tweaking knobs… gotta love it. RIP Gene
at first..watching this... my comment was going to be... extremely impressive... after watching further my comment has changed to... absolutely amazing
I don't think Rachel knows she's blind. I've been in awe for years. Nobody else would even try to play ELP.
Ok Rachel, you are unreal. I have now seem you do flawless versions of Trilogy, Tarkus, Hoedown and Karen Evil 9 so you can play the whole ELP catalogue spot on. I would say there are not many people currently on the planet that can do that. You are keeping the spirit of Keith Emerson alive. Your parents must be beyond proud of you. All I can say is wow.
I found this video 8 years later. But the performance is timeless. Trilogy has always been one of my favorite ELP pieces. So, thank you.
AMAAAAAAAAAZING .. from a ELP fan .. you are perfect
I played this a for talent show in 1980 in my High School. I came in 3rd place. The winner was a fellow who played "Johnny Be Good". There is no accounting for taste... Rachel, you have exceptional talent. I hope to have the privilege to meet you someday. Great things are ahead of you. Just keep doing what you do. As my son says... "You be you!" And remember- always have fun doing what you do.
Any why do 5 people vote thumbs down? Do they live in some alternate universe where beauty and discipline are scorned? This is nothing short of magnificent.
tenementgeek they’re Bieber fans.
Or they were also blind and just couldn't hit the thumb up button correctly 🤷♀️
They like Country or Rap music. Half this country is made up of idiots.
They want attention, no one else will listen!
They don't know great music.

Just AMAZING!!!!!!! I found Rachel a few months back while playing some ELP songs on RUclips.
So good hearing you again .souch talent wow.❤
Imagine having this much raw talent. I've been a composer and pianist for 20 years and I can only imagine being this good. 👏👏👏
How only is this possible? ❤
Thank you Rachel, for this excellent version of Trilogy by the one and only Keith Emerson.
