I feel kind of bad for him.. From his comments you can see he's just a humble guy who likes covering music on his piano and appreciates the support he's given and I can just visualize him looking over the comments and thinking "Who is this Jojo that everyone is talking about?"
I am struck by the amount of 'like' that is receiving 'roundabout'. Fourth for the amount of views (the first three are very previous), it is second, going to become the first, for the amount of 'like'. I am struck also that the Italians represent only 7% of the audience, while the USA reaches 36% (Brazil and Japan 6.5%, UK 5.6%)
You don't have to worry about italian audience. That because its musical education is shifting toward other "qualities". If you don't believe me look for "rovazzi" now 1° in hit parade. But I warn you, it could hurt you ;-)
Thanks for your comment. What you say it is true, but my observation was based on the consideration that the Italians seem to prefer much more Genesis that the Yes or Emerson. All my videos are seen by a large part of Italian, but for those of Emerson and Yes are more views from the USA.
+Massimo Bucci + simply, Genesis are more popular. And their recent musical history is far more commercial than the other former progressive rock bands. Of course, just my opinion. I would also suggest to yt search for "Sandro di Pisa - Il rock progressivo", an ironic clip about progressive rock that gives his own answer to your question.
At this moment, "Roundabout" is a very popular song on the internet due to the use of the song as an end theme to the Japanese Anime "Jojo's Bizzare Adventure". The song is used to highlight the "cliffhanger endings" with the tagline "to be continued" appearing at the end of episodes. Subsequently, the part of the original track where the bass comes in has been used as a joke to highlight videos that end in cliffhangers.
Genesis is more popular and better-known today (although their pre-1980 work remains a specialty taste). That wasn't true in the early 70s. When people thought prog then, it was ELP and Yes they thought of. Genesis and King Crimson were more obscure and practically unknown in the US. Of course, Yes have continued to tour, playing their old stuff and some new. I saw them last year in Boston. Roundabout in particular is so well known, that even people not even close to being born in 1972 recognize it :)
a fascinating piano rendition of yes's "roundabout" i always thought that chris squire's bass line was untouchable. you watch this guy replicate it with his left hand and it looks even harder than i ever imagined.
Again, a big thank you to the US public about the large number of views and 'like' ! (the number of far even higher than that relating to the Italian public).
Mountains come out of the sky and they stand there. Yes....I've tried to live my life by those words of wisdom by Yes. Keep positive. Keep loving. Keep it real. Massimo is a beast on the keys. Thank you for sharing!
In this moment, among my videos, "Roundabout", with 1658 'like' has just become the most liked of all. Thank you for your enthusiasm! I announce that I am preparing the full (piano) version, even with the Wakeman Solo :)))
It's a real good cover, just hope you know a large chunk of the following is thanks to the anime Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (they used Roundabout for the credit sequence and would go to 'to be continued' with the intro from the song)
Honestly just came here looking to learn the opening part, ended up sitting through the whole video because this is amazing. How does this not have more likes?!
Fucking incredible. I looked this up to see if it existed, and my expectations were blown out of the water and into the stratosphere by an atomic blast.
On 4 May, it was my birthday and you have given me 121 'like', just for this video, and another 10 for other videos: a great record, from 2012 to today! :)))
Sir you may be wondering why is this video so successful, so let me tell you: First of all, you are amazing. Since my early childhood, I aime to be at least a 10% as talented as you are. And secondly, this song appears as the ending theme song of a Japanese anime show called JoJos Bizarre Adventure, that may explain its popularity since it is a show known and praised around the world.
I have to say. I've been playing piano for 11 years and I didn't practice like I should for the longest, but after having watched this video several months ago, I've started practicing seriously every day for multiple hours. Thank you so much. Good work!
The Pillar Men were brought to their knees by this amazing performance! Seriously, you're so good at piano. I wish to be able to play like you. I was swaying to this. Really brightened my day! Thank you!
it speaks to the genius of this man that, every time I want to listen to roundabout, I can't decide whether to listen to this or the original most of the times I end up listenign to both
Ho scoperto solo oggi questa gemma. Questa cover è eccelsa. Non va perduto nulla del mood e del sound originale del pezzo. I miei complimenti più sinceri 🔝🔝🔝
Hari Having played classical piano and been a devoted fan of Yes, I think it is really well done considering that he has to cover melody as well as different instruments with one instrument. Well done!
Thank you for expanding to YES! in your prog rock repertoire. You are a master of translating good old prog rock into your instrument. They have MANY compositions worthy of your covers. Have you ever listened to their album MAGNIFICATION? A later work that is simply a tour de force, under-rated and relatively unknown, which used a symphony instead of keyboards (oooh sorry!), but lends itself to a keyboard copy by someone such as you who is so masterful.
Algorithm's unfair. This deserves millions of views. Hands down the most beautiful piano rendition of Roundabout ever!
@accountformality Thank You very much!
this man infused his piano with hamon energy to ward off three aztec god of fitness. joke aside, thank you for this beautifull play.

@@rec_unit6360holy crap I just realised the Zeppelis are a reference to Led Zeppelin. I'm really stupid lol

It has been 2 years so im sure he know.
just to clear what jojo is, jojo is an anime show that in the first part end cutscene, uses this song.
It's the best rendition of roundabout I 've heard on piano. 👍

I first heard this song from jojo. Now its one of my favs, Nice work.
A single man performing the greatness of chris squire, steve howe and jon anderson AT THE SAME TIME! Simply genious
and Rick Wakeman too.
Even Bill Bruford's influence can be heard, I think.
He's doing the bass line and the piano line at the same time. It's genius
When Hamon, manliness and music come together in an unholy fusion of pure awesomeness.

***** beautiful comment, thanks!
The way he integrates Wakeman's keys and Howe's guitar lines into the main body of the song is pretty damn awesome. Excellent job.
Thank You Michael O'Connor😊
