Show of hands... who watched these as a kid and was terrified afterwards!!!
The theme music and watching it in the dark is scary as hell
So many memories of my childhood
Meee😊😊
Shut up
Meeee
no man could ever host this show like Robert did.thank you Robert your a true legend
Whenever you heard those words suddenly said out loud, "UPDATE", you would instantly get a rush of euphoria anxiously waiting to hear what case got solved or what important new information was gonna be told
Yeah because back then there was no other way to know. No way to even look it up. Good ole days. Lol.
Hahaha yes. If I'm not in the room when I hear the update coming, I rush in to hear it
@@babylong9191 damn I miss them days. I think of times then vs now and todays times are so exhausting. I wish I could be on my parents couch in 92’ waiting for pop corn on the stove to be done watching UM. Then we watched rescue 911. Idk if you remember that.
I liked the update music
FOR REAL!
Robert Stack's voice made this series even more scary, I remember the whole family use to watch Unsolved Mysteries together, we would get under the covers and watch it from my parents bed, as soon as I'd hear Robert Stack's voice I would get shivers, good memories 😂😂😂
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. It's great to know, that I am FAR from the only one who needed my parents to watch this with me! My Mom has to convince me that those composite sketches were not going to come attack me at night.
Yeah one of the 2 eps that really really scared the crap out of me was, The Tallmans Ghost and Resurrection Mary, Ohhh those were just frightening as a kid and to some degree still is now, great scary stories!
Robert Stack was the best. Rest in Peace and thanks for the memories. It was scary but I keep watching in 2022.
me as well. lol you're not alone
@@_Majaa saaaaaaameeeee
Still scary til this day
Right
Yup, that intro and his voice lol
I graduated in 1977. I remember these stories. Several were quite scary to think about at that time. Thank you for these.
Those drawings of the Son of Sam suspects still gives me the chills 30 years later.
Facts 💯All of those different shooters running into innocent people's gives me chills 30 yrs later too
I prefer watching Robert Stack and Unsolved Mysteries than the modern stupid reality shows. I guess I am old fashioned 😄
You know shows like this are based around reality rather than "reality shows" which are scripted for ratings
You have class and superb sense of taste !
It's called 'having good taste'.
me too haha

23:38 "Curly never fell in love again. He never married or had a family." Very chilling, and kind of makes you sad.
He was probably heartbroken knowing the girl he loved pretty much moved on with her life.
@@gregelliott5016 I think that, Curly just wasn't sophisticated. Obviously, he came from a broken home. I also have to remind myself, being born in 1973, things were different a generation or two or three before me. My generation, growing up solidly middle class, I knew about "puppy love," and that "adolescents fall in and out of love." Unfortunately, Jessamyn was probably the very first girl who showed him that kind of feeling, and he thought "she HAS to be THE one." He put all of his eggs emotionally, into the Jessamyn basket. This is a great thing to teach MODERN teenage boys: There will always be other fish in the sea. I know that looks aren't everything, but my goodness, he was a VERY decent-looking man, even into his 40s and 50s!! Look at those "5 known photos of Curly" they quickly showed. Honestly, I think that he should have courted the younger SISTER. It was common for a man to marry a girl several years younger than him, back then. I think the younger sister could have seen Curly for the good things that he was, and not just because of his "earning power."
@@unappealingundesirable2826 I'm sure the sister would have been willing to be with him. But I think he was far too heartbroken to find someone else since he probably thought he wouldn't find anyone as special as she was
The younger sister was cuter in the recreation.
One-nites was a real thing back then.
Wow, great to see the Mr. Stack episodes still being updated.
I miss him hosting this
I Miss Robert stack 😭💔😭💔😭 😭😭😭
Seeing an update on a case in a unsolved mysteries episode feels like postal 2 getting a update with something new years later ngl.

Wow season number 1 must have been back in the 80s sometimes. If u didn't live at this time, pre internet, u have no idea how wildly popular this show was. I remember the nights Unsolved Mysteries was on was a huge night. Everyone mace sure they were home to watch and the entire family would sit together, quietly and watch. Everyone loved the show whether you were 7 years old or 95 years old it was a must watch. People at work and school wud talk about it the next day.
1988
Entirely true. I was in grade school and even we talked about it.
I feel sorry for Curly losing his love afte3r going to war and experiencing such horros.
Still watching in 2024. RIP Robert Stack.
I love this show! I have loved it since I was a child.
Yeah I did too when I was in town I used whatch this show all the time
Me too, i loved this show 👌
Even as a grown man at 34 years old I'm still nervous when I watch this show
You must have a dark past...🤣🤣🤣
@@Aspectus the creepy ass music LOL
My older sister and I God rest her soul used to watch Unsolved Mysteries as children, even though it scared the crap out of us. Just the theme music itself is scary, then the cases make this show absolutely terrifying!
Same here, my sis n I use to watch UM all the time as kids. Good times!
I put these on to soothe me and help me sleep ❤ love this series
Me too. I think Mr. Stack's voice is pleasant
Same
Times were sure different, 200,000 was considered a fortune back then. To be able to accomplish that in 77 was pretty amazing considering how wages were back then.
In Dennis Farina's updated version of Unsolved Mysteries, they profiled this story. I can recall him saying, "$200,000, the equivalent to $1.2 million in 2005." So, if some single lonely man (like me, born in Seattle in 1973) with some worth, was quiet and kept to himself, and died with $2.4 million in 2021, it WOULD shock a lot of people!
I wouldn't mind inheriting that kind of money
43:17 "They got circlestansive evidence" 😂😂😂
I was looking for this comment 🤣🤣
Typical ignorant sociopath
Stack was good friends with actor John Wayne, the two of them appearing in "Bullfighter and the Lady" in 1951, which was produced by Wayne. In 1952, he made movie history by starring in "Bwana Devil," the first 3-D movie, which was based on real-life lion attacks in Africa. The movie broke box office records, and immediately started a craze for more 3-D movies.
Around 1955, Robert was introduced to actress Rosemarie Bowe, by mutual agent Bill Shiffrin, and they wed two years later, later having two children: Elizabeth Stack and Charles Stack. For the 1956 film, "Written on the Wind," he received an Academy Award nomination fot Universal movies while under contract to 20th-Century Fox. Afterward, his contract with Fox came to an end, Stack made the transition to television and his role as Eliot Ness on the iconic 60s series, "The Untouchables." He also starred in the television movie, "The Scarface Mob" in 1959.
Stack went on to do other television shows, such as "The Name of the Game" and "Most Wanted" while having roles in comedies like "1941" in 1979 and "Airplane!" in 1980. Through the 80s, Stack became the regular host of the series, "Unsolved Mysteries," replacing Karl Malden and Raymond Burr from the two specials. He also made the movies "Caddyshack II" and "BASEketball" in the 90s. He also provided the voice of the character Ultra Magnus in "The Transformers: the Movie" in 1986. He returned to portrayed Ness again in the 1991 TV-movie "The Return of Eliot Ness.
In 2003, Stack was being treated for prostate cancer when he died from a heart attack at age 84 on May 14, 2003 at his home in Los Angeles, California.
😂😂😂😂
I binged these. Streamed the lot. Smashed my way through them all in a week. Loved it and I’m planning on doing it all over again, because they are utterly brilliant. ! !
Edit* and the theme music is better than The X Files.
This is probably one of the most terrifying episodes in unsolved Mysteries history. This particular one freaked me out as a kid, and even as an adult. Especially the way that they approached the son of Sam segment
I was born in 1973, watched this in 1988-89 for the first time, and those composite sketches scared the heck out of me!
Hi my father and I use to binge watch this show all the time and thanks for bringing this brilliant show back ,thanks for sharing ,
Love this show and Robert Stack!❤️
The beginning of 14 consecutive years of ratings dominance for Unsolved Mysteries.
And unknowingly created a benchmark in making paranormal/crime based TV entertainment, which to this day has never been equalled. ❤

23:19-23:53 Even though both were actors for "young Curly" and "elder Curly," this scene has to choke you up a little bit. The actor for young Curly played the role well: Look at his body language, as he walked away, after Catherine told him that Jessamine went to Omaha.
The actress that played catherine played in other films....been trying to look for her name
This is the show that has lead to my life long love of the paranormal. Ghost hunting is now my favorite hobby
Curly's story broke my heart :(
I was born in 1973 in Seattle, so I was probably 15-17 when I first saw this episode. At 51 in 2024, Curly's story is a very sad story! The actors and actresses for Curly's story did an amazing job. Clearly, his heart was shredded, when he lost Jessamyn.
The reason why Curly is so secretive about his past is that he is a high level freemason, if you look at the picture of him wearing the 'fez' it has the symbols of the lodge of the 'Shriners' on it.
Some Untouchables episodes are now available here on RUclips. A lot of actors started out on this show and became major stars.
Does anyone else think it's weird that in 1989 when they would talk about the "Son of Sam" case from 1977 that it felt like that was a completely different lifetime ago? Didn't it fell like in 89 talking about something that happened in 1977 was SO LONG AGO?? But nowadays in 2022 when someone talks about something that happened in 2010 it doesn't even feel like that long ago?
It's like that for me and I don't know why other then it's very strange and even a bit creepy. Does this happen to anybody else ?
Absolutely... I guess we’re the only ppl who feel this way.
ALL THE TIME!!!
I feel the same
The quality of life has degraded so badly that the years just blend together with no significant achievement making the distinction
I think this is mostly an aging thing along with the change in lifestyle and activities as you age. When you are 10, a year of school feels like forever because its 1/10th of your life and you've only experienced 10 years. When you get older you have more time to compare events to, so a year doesn't feel so long when you have experienced 30 years. Also when you are younger you are constantly learning new things and interpreting them etc. No idea if that's right, but I do think there's a vsauce video about time passing that explains why illusion of time speeding up. I can't remember what they said right now or if my answer is even close to the answer they gave because I'm half awake, but that is how I have thought about it myself. 🙃
Robert Stack was the Rod Serling of the 90’s
The music in the opening theme use to scare me as a child... And now I am a grown ass man and I am still terrified of the music...... :(
The composite sketch at 5:48 is the most terrifying out of all the Son of Sam sketches. 😱
At first, when I was 15 in 1988, the ski cap man sketch scared me the most. Now, it's the curly haired bad guy whose eyes scare the heck out of me.
I love the love for Robert Stack in the comments section to every episode tbh! 👌♥️
Some people don't like to talk about their pass is too painful for them.
His estate probably ended up in the Nebraska state treasury long ago.
The Ultimate Evil - by Maury Terry - 1987
His book is well documented.
The details on the occult secret society behind the Murders.
Netflix documentary did a show on his book.
Maury Terry, thank you for devotion of life's work to get the Dark Truth out.
a bunch of crap. the son of sam worked alone
That book is terrifying
"It is the sound of America screaming"
Watching this at night made me scared to go to bed. Had to sleep with that light on, for real…
Hahaha
I was terrified when I watched the episode where the guy got missing and they somehow got on camera where the guy was standing at a teller machine withdrawing money and there was a person standing behind him like he was forcing him to withdraw money. You just saw like a scary person's face behind him .
Yeah, that was me.
Matthew was his name.
Unsolved Mysteries is one of the most fascinating, mysterious and gripping programs you could ever watch. You will be addicted.
But never ever watch it before going to bed.
Watching this show as a kid was a family tradition 👍
I feel sorry for Curly Green. He was risking his life in the mud of WW1 France, and Jody steals his girl!
A story old as time
Yep
What's the deal with yellow Volkswagens & serial killers?

Whomever posted these .... thank you so much 😊🙏
20 years before Dinosaur Train debuted, that music when Curly Green was on the train sure sounds like the Dinosaur Train theme. Thank a nephew and niece who used to love that show for knowing that.
This guy's narration voice is "legendary "
Love unsolved mysteries
“They got circle stansive evidence, all hearsay” 😂
Rip to All the victims 🙏💔
Thank you for uploading this this is awesome I remember this from when I was a kid this show is still great even better with Robert Stack and I just wanted to say that the Son of Sam story is real interesting and I personally have always believed that the Son is Sam killing was done by a group of people I think that the Zodiac probably was too
I don't know about the Zodiac Killer but I definitely agree that there was more than one shooter in the Son of Sam murders.
@@roguegirl29 I agree with both of you as well! Definitely a group of people involved! Question is, why were they not brought in for questioning? Why was Berkowiz the only fall guy!?1977, but still! You would think they would have questioned him more snd dug deeper in the investigation!
That double homicide in a church clearly was no robbery but an intended murder. The shootist didn't shoot the first lady, but waited until Harold Swain got to him. That was the target. Probably, he checked the identity first (are you Mr. Swain, Harold Swain ? and then, upon confirmation took out his gun. The spectacles probably were a cheap disguise, but so "thin" he probably wasn't a local person who feared to be reckognized. Sounds almost like a hitman. But why ?
HATE CRIME
Look up the name Eric Sparre. His DNA was found on those glasses. His mother submitted a DNA sample to the authorities and shortly thereafter she was dead. Authorities have yet to release the autopsy results.
I like the way he talks while actors pretend to be cops and lawyers, that was a nice touch.
ROBERT STACK CAN MAKE ELMO SOUND GUILTY OF SON OF SAM!! AT MIDNIGHT ELMO WAS SEEN WALKING DOWN THE STREET!!!!
20:47 "He would never feel the same way about anyone else." Those words (and facts) are very deceptively chilling, if you think about it.
My personal opinion he should have moved on. No person worth life long loneliness especially if they reject you. But some people wait for the same type of love and never settle for less.
@@natalijaasbjornsen8827 I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. Solidly upper middle class. So, at least I learned from family and peers about "puppy love," and how kids fall in and out of love at that age. Sounds like Curly had an unstable home life, with "an abusive step-father." He just wasn't sophisticated. He put all of his eggs emotionally into "Jessamyn's basket," and he just couldnt' get himself to invest that emotion to love another woman. I know that looks aren't everything, but my goodness, look at those few pictures of him: He was a VERY decent-looking man, even into his 40s and 50s!
@@unappealingundesirable2826 I agree with you.
@@natalijaasbjornsen8827 Thanks. I never considered this angle: I went to church, mostly with other Japanese-Americans (although that part is less relevant). I was around a lot of people, and saw other boys and girls hook up, and break up. I don't think that Curly was ever around a social group growing up, especially in his teenage years, when he could have witnessed such, and learned from it. I think about an early episode of Silver Spoons, where Ricky's first heartbreak was when he was 12, and Ricky thought that he would never love another girl again. What I love, is that his father Edward "just let Ricky vent," but Edward knew that his son would come around. But, that just further shows how, Curly's lack of a good father figure (certainly not his abusive step-father), and unstable home life, left him "unsophisticated," and unable to cope with hooking up, breaking up, but picking yourself up and moving forward. Looks like Curly got "knocked down," and he "stayed down."
@@unappealingundesirable2826 looking at it from the different angle I think some people are perfectionists in their approach to life. If something does not go right they just withdraw from the whole idea. I also had a very dysfunctional family probably more so than Curly but I can not imagine cut ties with my relatives. I choose to stay in contact and live no matter what. I also had some heartbreaks in my personal dating times, yet i tried to create family no matter what. But some people prefer to withdraw from the idea if something does not work smoothly. I have a friend , he is active in church and with friends but he had one heartbreak and stayed single . It's more like lack of motivation I guess. He is not depressed or anything. He did not find his perfect match and he seems ok with that. So people are all different
This show singlehandedly kept the Hanes company in business.
I luv this Whole Entire Series
Yellow Volkswagen ted bundy lol
Fun Fact: Robert Stack played Ultra Magnus in The Transformers The Movie.
Classic!
I love this show! Yes, sometimes left me feeling edgy after some episodes but Stacks voice in combination with the theme music was genius. When Jellybean Benitez remixed the theme music, it turned the tide!!!🔥🔥🔥 Now it’s got a nice bounce to it!
Lol. Benitez isn't an insanely common name, and it surprised me. My stepdad's surname was Benitez, and he passed long ago.
This show should be brought back!
25 years jails for a serial killer’s .. this is beyond stupidity..
“ They got circlestancsive evidence “ - Jerry Strickland 🧐
circlestansive evidence = freak took him out & shot him; Missy's a witness! Poor kid! (not Missy, her baby)
Hahaha I thought I was the only person who caught that
I watch this every night before I go to bed not I'm kind of under the weather today but I watch this like I watch The bold and the beautiful and Young and the restless I watch it like my story on channel 9
Poor Curly. Jessamin definitely lost out on a guy that was ultimately loyal, only loved her for his whole life.
I was a little kid probably about 10 years old. I remember driving downtown Schuyler they had the street back up for awhile with people honking horns. Nobody knew what was going on i found out later what it was about. Crazy i still remember it like yesterday.
Thanks for posting this up.
Had to pause the update on the Swain Murders....thinking - FINALLY the case has been solved, not realising that when I carried on playing the vid dudes DNA didn't match 🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾😫
What if the glasses they found did not even belong to the killer? What if they just were lost by someone else. I am surprised they overturned the person's conviction who had confessed
I love this show!
Unresolved. Sadly, Maury has since passed away. Authorities still consider this case open but inactive; Berkowitz has refused to speak about the cult or anyone else who may have been involved in it. He has been eligible for parole several times since 2002; however, each time he has been denied.
Terry would be 78 now if he were still alive, very unlikely he'd still be actively involved trying to solve this, hell, he probably would've given up anyway. Berkowitz probably likes the free meals in prison.
Eligible for parole for his next life sentence..he was given multiple life sentences..
The barber, friend and Curly's fellow Riley Maher knows more than he says...
Orders from a Barking Dog? I get mine directly from my neighbors lil dog when he comes over. I give him a piece of Beef stock and some letting, then he gives me my orders.

The music for this show is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
On the one with the preacher and his wife being killed, did you notice on their grave stone that he was born on July 4th and she was born on December 25th? This was one of the best shows on TV. I've heard they re-made it but not exactly the same because they said they could not find anyone as perfect for the narrator as Robert Stack was. So they don't have one, or as many re-enactments. I have not see the new one but it seems it would not be as good.
The rebooted Netflix version has been out for 3 years now, kinda late to the party much, there's been two seasons and a third coming this October. Ofc fans of the original would be skeptical at first but it's actually really good, you get the same chills even without a narrator, and they also cover UM from outside the US sometimes. You can probably stream them online somewhere, check it out, it's good, don't have preconceptions.
I am a fraternal twin yet my sister and I at times we get a feeling of each other's pain or the sense that we are going through something and we call each other. If my memory serves me correctly Berkvovich's lawyer applied for and received S/S disability payments for"son of sam".The lawyer said jail made his client"NERVOUS".😜😜😜😜😜😜😜
Isn't there a law that forbids people in jail from receiving SS payments?
Why was a pastor carrying $300 in cash? In those days that was A LOT of money...
He had to answer a booty call later on that night.
The son of sam composites look like different people because they are different people David Berkowitz absolutely did not work alone.
It's commonly known in my organization that there were 4. David, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Gordon Ramsey.
Harold was born July 4th and Thelma on Christmas what's the odds of that?? Two people born on two holidays getting married wow
Those composite sketches used to scare the sht outta me as a kid.
Only the diabolic would kill people praying in a church.
Fantastic series!!
I looked up Catheryn Saalfeld and Jessamine (Rominger) Hardwick on Find a Grave, and if Catheryn was 9 years old when Curly arrived Jessamine would have only been 13 at the time. 😳
It seems they were going out together for awhile until he enlisted in the army.
Back then age of consent wasn't totally enforced until the 1920s. Not excusing it is still pretty weird! Plus teens were much different back in the turn of the century than they are now most of them were "adults" and some even got married after the age of 16.
Curly was only like 3-4 years older than she was. He was around 16-17 and she was about 13. That wasn't abnormal for the time.
What other dna evidence was at the scene besides the blood of the victims? If the killer was wounded, how and by what?
They only had glasses supposedly belonging to the killer
How can a beacon be carrying 300 in he's pocket? That was a lot back then..
People didn't use debit cards back then. It was common to carry around a lot more than $300.00.
Wtf is a beacon??!
@Erika Smith A light? I think Reversed Smith probably was a light, a shining light very bright.
She probably meant "deacon". That who the man was. 300 dollars he carried alone because there were not debit cards then.

13:45 who walks their dog at 2:30 am😂
It’s New York a lot of us do that when get home so our dog won’t wake us up too early in the morning
If she had been out all evening, the dog probably really needed to go for a walk when she got home 😅
The Son of Sam, and the tragic double murder of the African-American couple, are the biggest stories. But, it's Curly Green's story that I think about most. I was born in Seattle in 1973, and saw this when I was 15-18. Now 51 in 2024, I find Curly's story very sad and heartbreaking!! On another board, a woman commented, saying Catherine was her grandmother. The more I think about her, the more I really like Catherine! She seemed like such a quality person, the type of woman every man should try to marry.
Who walks their dog at 2:00 AM?
Different era back than 🙄🙄
Someone who doesn't want their dog to take a shit and a piss in the corner at 2am I guess.
Me
Someone without a yard to let their dog out into in the middle of the night? Someone who works odd shifts and isn't around during the day to do it? Someone with insomnia?
If the dog is howling to go out at 2am, out you go
Since a young boy these old shows are like a car ride to a baby for me. 😴

UPdate 2020? WTF? I thouht this was from the 90's
Season 1 was from 1987. The updates are from whomever runs this channel.
I have the intro song of this show as my ring tone 😊❤
How do they put updates for 2020 on the show?
I was wondering the same
It's quite obvious those edits were done recently, and Filmrise made all the UM eps available online in 2020 after Viacom whom previously owned the rights refused to release the series on any platform for years, they weren't even on Netflix or anything let alone free to view on YT.
Did anybody consider putting this season playlist in episode order? Why make a playlist if it’s just an arbitrary order?
were they really this naive, or ignorant back then with eye witness reports. 1)its very high stress moment 2)it happens in the matter of seconds 3)it is at the night 4)when you hear and see gunshots your first instinct isnt to stare at the person doing the shots. of course all of them will look different
Man that thumbnail pic 🙈🙈🙈
Whoever the gunman was… was able to point out to the lady that was leaving pacifically who he wanted to talk to! Showing he knew Mr. Swains.
Just an update: The DNA on the glasses found at the crime scene proved that the man who was convicted of killing the Swains didn't commit the crime. Another man did.
Pacifically? Lol. Is that like specifically?
