His wardrobe was very professional and elegant, his hair was perfectly done, and he had an overall great personality and character. This episodes are magnificent thanks to Robert Stack. He is definitely sorely missed as he is and always will be IRREPLACEABLE.

@Jewel Clark thats what im thinking...i mean, this guy went out of his way to take Smith to see his daughter and was publicly seen by many people. it didnt seem like he had any intentions of killing Don. It seemed more like he was trying to help this drunkard. Then the drunkard got out of hand and probably attacked him and he probably lost his patience and killed him. i mean, i think all of us have lost our patience with certain drunks...more or less strangers who are drunk. he prob overreacted. so i wouldnt call it homicide. but it could be seen as manslaughter or possible self defense if he was attacked first. then he panicked, dumped the body where the incident occurred, and probably ran when he realized what he did

Mule left the area after the broadcast and was gone for three weeks. He was arrested on August 3, 1989, upon his return, and was the 25th fugitive arrested after being profiled. Mule pleaded guilty to child molestation, assault with a deadly weapon and failure to appear in court. He was found guilty of all charges and sentenced to fourteen years imprisonment. Seven years into his sentence, Mule became eligible for parole and was released. He has not been charged with any crimes since.

It's so sad how people will take advantage of your kindness. I remember years a go riding down this old highway in the pouring rain with my mom and sister in law and there was a man walking, he looked probably early 20's and my mom didn't even hesitate to stop and give him a ride to his house. He was so grateful and a sweet guy. Looking back-- I realize how dangerous that was and I sure as h**** wouldn't do it now as an adult myself!!

That's actually a good theory. They could have argued while letting the dog's out and it could have turned physical and maybe even the hitchhiker grabbed the tire iron from him and hit him in self defense.
