RIP Vivien Leigh (November 5, 1913 - July 8, 1967), aged 53 And RIP Marlon Brando (April 3, 1924 - July 1, 2004), aged 80 You both will be remembered as legends.
In this first meeting, notice how he asks her questions, then minimises the answers. “It’s a little outta my territory!” “Lot of people don’t touch the drink but it touches them!” He’s actually very cunning, but hiding it behind a mask of obfuscating stupidity. He senses she’s trouble, and she’s hiding something. He lets her check his physique to see if she’s “loose” by the standard of the time of course And the cat shriek he lets out, in some ways is indicative of his cruel nature - we see a lot of that later - but also him testing her nerves. She’s incredibly highly strung. Something he used against her later In no way praise of Stanley’s character, rather a case of brilliant writing from Tennessee Williams and acting from Brando. Bullies can be both physically imposing and psychologically controlling. They’re well aware of what they’re doing & know how to push peoples buttons. Later in the film we see how Stella never gets a fixed “allowance” from Stanley, so that he can control where and when she goes out, if at all His friends are quieter and mild-mannered. He uses just the right amount of swag and control (even something like keeping their voices down or turning off the radio) to keep them in line Sure the movie is probably very slow by today’s standards but it still is a masterclass of writing and drama
@@sekarpertiwi4077 His face and acting style will be always modern, he was and still is one of the best actors that ever lived, I am talking about stupid things he did when he was older.
Marlon Brando was absolutely robbed for best actor for this. It would have been the first film to win the four acting Oscars, a feat still not achieved to this day
I totally agree. Imagine If Brando had won that Oscar, "A Streetcar" would had received all the acting statuettes (Vivien - Best Actress; Brando - Best Actor; Karl Malden - Best Supporting Actor and Kim Hunter - Best Supporting Actress)

@@omarhuanga7139 He was only 47 when he played The Godfather and he was in fantastic physical shape. They had to pad him to make him look heavy and apply prosthetics to age his face. He made Last Tango in Paris the same year and did a back flip from a standing position - who can do that? He was fit and in shape. His acting was so great in The Godfather, people don't notice it. As a fit, youngish man, he perfectly played an old man whose every move showed age, stiffness, soreness, etc. yet he had to exude power. Try that sometime. Every tiny crook of his head or shift of his weight showed "age". He was matchless at acting. It came so easy for him, he took it completely for granted. By the way, don't watch Last Tango....it's deeply disturbing. Just yuck.
I wonder if Marlon wasn't such a tortured soul ,which eventually made him grossly obese and killed him, also which kept him a closeted bisexual, if he'd have been such a great artist, actor? Same goes for Vivien who was an untreated extraordinarily mentally ill person which eventually killed her, too.
Vivien Leigh deserved the Oscar for her fantastic performance. And Marlon Brando was terrifying as Stanley.
abslutly right her play is really ecellent!! as for Brando as usuel perfect!! ( from Belgium )
did they get oscars?

He was a stud
Yea I guess god damn. Never understood why people said that until this clip lol.
Yowza❤
Marlon was ahead of his time
Then he was, and for years to come, and after that...He was behind his time, out of touch with the time, space, and reality...
Yeah....his face and his acting style Soo modern

he's the best ❤
As much as I like Humphrey Bogart, his performance in The African Queen is nothing compared to Brando's sensational turn here.
FOR SURE!
Die schuldeten Bogart einen Oscar was sie Jahre zuvor verwehrt hatten sonst hätte Brando eigentlich gewinnen müssen.

The Oscars have always been a rigged sham. I think that is the real reason he refused to accept it for The Godfather.
Brando was DEFINITELY robbed 😔 what a GORGEOUS and phenomenal actor he WAS 😍 he DESERVED the award! 😫

Stanley looked & behaved more modern & natural than his time.
that was MY thought as well! 😳
Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh stole the show with their memorable performances. Even after 73 years, nobody can top these performances.
Two sensational actors
I just got pregnant from watching Brando's hotness ❤🔥❤🔥
Yea I think the lady in the scene did too! lol woman was SHOOK.
ditto! 😆 Marlon Brando was one of God’s GREATEST works of ART 😍🔥😱🥵 he was soo HAWT 😳

And of course, Vivienne Leigh 🩵
My God ... Marlon Brando... There's Marlon Brando ... and then there's everybody else.
I had the hots for Karl Malden.
I always found it ironic that Vivian won two Oscars playing Southern Belles. And she was British !
Not really
10.5 years his senior
He's so hot I can't look at him!
What’s this and it looks old
Ouuuuffff 😢😍
