Yeah, this is a LOOONG one. Let me know what you think about long form modding content? Also the Derezzed kit + Fang ReVamped motors is pretty awesome!
What is the voltage of your soldering iron?
can you do a nerf rival (Edge series) Jupiter mod? (so I can fix my Jupiter which I broke while modding)
Yes more long form mod videos. I'll need to help this winter when I start cracking open my new collection. We're an Adventure Force house!
Are FANG motors any quieter than Mieshel? Those things are SCREAMING with the worker rigid slanted flywheels in my spectrum
Cant believe Im just now finding this video. Great work man, thanks for supporting the FPS parts. :)
Much appreciated. It’s a good kit all around. Can’t wait to actually field this in a game one day soon!
Feet per second!?!? More like foam pro shop!!!
Lord !
Omg its drac lol
Drac himself
AWESOME GREENSCREEN!
Thank you, thank you, and thank you. Probably the best yet easiest video to understand all the basic modding skills on RUclips. No showing-off, no bragging, just pure passion of sharing his modding experience to a beginner like me. Damn good job done, salute!
This mod put a smile on my face!
That thing looks amazing
@Nah Halls ,I’d tint lol
This video is how I learned how to solder. Thanks man. You really helped me gain confidence to give it a shot. I had motors, cages, and flywheels sitting in my back room for almost a month before I took the plunge and cut that battery wire.
Awesome to hear dude! It’s really not to difficult, but I hear ya, cutting that first wire on your first mod can be anxiety inducing for sure.
Dude, this was an EXCELLENT tutorial. I think the step by step walkthrough with the soldering was super informative. If only this was around like 5 years when my friends and I lived and breathed nerf lol, I could I have top of the game. But anyways, great job man!
American Foam
WOW WOW
What an amazing kit. Thanks for taking us through how to do this. It was super informative and awesome. Keep up the great work.
Thanks again for the tutorial man! I just finished my spectrum. Works great! A quick tip for people soldering for the first time here, be careful when soldering the XT60 connector. It is just two brass rods running through a plastic housing. That brass really heats up when joining the positive and negative wires, which can lead to accidently melting the plastic. So buying a backup connector and minimizing the time the brass is exposed to the heat is highly advised.
Great tip!
What I like to do is plug the connector being soldered into it's other xt-60 half and use handy hands to hold the half that isn't being soldered. The physical connection gives structural support, so the plastic isn't as likely to give way while warmed up by the heat transfer from the brass.
@@SirBrass That's a good idea. It's so obvious, yet I completely overlooked that haha. Thanks for the input! (just as long as it's not the half connected to the lipo XD)
This is actually really professional from such a small RUclipsr
Great tutorial. Easy to follow and explains/shows all the steps!!
I always enjoy the mod video post. Thought it might be good to add if folks wanted to add motor braking you must take positive off the flywheels to com and not normally open. Then NO off the switch tab to battery positive otherwise you’ll burn your blaster up. I wire all my mods up that way whether I add the additional wire for motor braking or not.
Really great instruction. Don't see myself cutting wires and inserting lipos but I would like that barrel and rail. From your video that looks simple enough.
I don’t know why, but I like modding springers more than fly wheels because you are still keeping most of the blaster intact. With Fly wheels you are literally just keeping the shell and that’s about it.
haha! love the intro!
Oh my gosh yesss!! Another mod guide😍😍😍😍
great video. This really helped me get better with my soldering skills. Thanks
Very nice! Great job on the mod. Thank you. 🙂
am i the only one who doesnt hate the original big muzzle tip ?
I don't hate it but the new one looks superior.
nope
LOVE your build videos, you need to make more!
Thanks so much. The only thing I would keep is the front muzzle, I like to do the c clamp on it and it pretty comfortable to hold on to
Sweet power and wicked accurate at typical field ranges!
This is a very underrated channel good content
Thanks!
Good review!
Soldering basics would be great to see. I vote for a soldering video
Thank you for the mod guide.
Amazing video 👍
Just finished my mod. Works great getting about 90 feet with it.
Hey I loved this video! I just got a spectrum myself a day ago and I was wondering if there is a resistor that stops voltage at a certain number of volts? I would love to use a lipo but I am bad at wiring so I want to run imrs or something like that that is a double a battery with more volts. Also I had a really dumb idea I wanted to throw out to you and see if you think it will work or not. Do you think putting tape on the flywheels to make it less diameter for the dart to pass through will make it higher crush? ideally it sounds like it might but I want to see what you think.
More power 💥 ...we like that!
Nice video! 🔥😎😘
Great and thorough mod. Thanks, but what's up with using white for the neg? Black is always standard in DC circuits.
That's such an incredible increase in performance. I wish I had the tools to do stuff like this.
If you've got the skills I'll get the tools.
Love the guide!!!
I did this build after seeing your video. The only difference I did was I found free files on thingiverse and printed my own, cage, wheels and battery compartment. Not as refined as yours but it still is amazing compared to stock form. I even went all out and 3d printed some free files to do a LordDraconical "type" muzzle, grip for the front and even did a M4 style stock attachment. Thanks for the inspiration to do one of these!
doing this mod today.. did you print the wheels with PLA or PETG? found it on reddit
@@assadlayne6446 I used pla. So far still working great.
@@mdgiebel nice ! Was it the one via thingiverse by opcolu?
Just got into nerf 12/2020, the only mod I’ve really done besides paint is to the nexus pro per Bradley Phillips video. Now I have a spectrum, I wanna need it up, and having just watched this video I am scared 💩 less. That’s a big jump in complexity
Please do the soldering tutorial video. I would really appreciate.
I took the locks out of my Stanpede using tape to keep the switches pressed. Love your videos btw
Noice! Time for some paint!
I really like the colors on this blaster.
I was curious if this uses normal picatinny rails on the bottom. Are their proprietary geometry like Rival, or are they regular 20mm rails?
Yeah I can’t wait to meet you guys in 2021!!!!!!
Notification Squad™.
Finally a mod video its been too long!! Hope to see some more mods
Ordering more mod parts as we speak.
Also hope to see some integrations
Nice love it
YES to solder tutorial!
What type of attachments do you like for your dremel? I'm kinda new to the hobby and have a dremel, but I don't seem to have the "drill like" attachment you use.
I mostly just use the cone shaped grinding stone for most things. Good for popping holes for wires with and for grinding down and even cutting away plastic.
Can those flywheels be used in the stock spectrum cage? Would it change amount of crush or stay same as stock wheels?
Need. More. MODVIDEOS!!!!!
can you do the icon longshot mod guide??
I dont care what u upload as long as u upload
This video is the reason I even attempted this mod. That said I ordered the kit but my cage is different as it has only half of the dart guide. I'm not sure why or what effect it will have if I use it. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
I wish I could even buy a Spectrum, it's been out of stock ever since I found out about this blaster.
Check walmart . com
You can have them send you an email when it's back in stock, that's how I got mine
I found tons of them on stock at a Walmart
@@nerickgomez yeah, the green one is out of stock but the identical red is plenty in stock.
Very cool!
can you do a nerf rival (Edge series) Jupiter mod? (so I can fix my Jupiter which I broke while modding)
I'm going to pick an unusual one for a mod guide, the Rebel mech, it could use some love but seems like a great blaster since I haven't been able to get my hands on a spectrum still.......
I’ll see what I can do with it. It needs more love.
@@AmericanFoam my biggest thing is that it could be made smaller but the ergo is pretty good as is, its very comparable to the ecs-10 size wise, it really should be made full auto i think though its going to need a lot of 3d printed parts designed to make it really good.
Do the stock Spectrum motors have the threaded holes that aftermarket motors have?
What else do I need? 2 motors. Switch battery and battery connection. Do I need a new cage and or rollers?
Can I use the spectrum half dart pusher kit with this mod?
Where can I get worker barrel material? Not much is coming up when I search for it. Can you put a worker scar on it?
This may be a stupid question, but has ANYONE found the parts for installing an N-strike Barrel Lug into the Spectrum? I want my extended barrels and options for tactical rails!
Mmm half dart conversion? Also, what about using a 1s lipo for lower power if needed?
What were the darts that you were firing?
I’m stuck between this and worker Phoenix. I just don’t know. I think it’s gonna come down to accuracy and performance
I need more of these im my life
Nice!
I’m sorry but it’s hilarious to watch his hand flick up then the phone mirrors it 😆
The delay is crazy sometimes. I often found myself distracted by it. 😂
I’m new to this whole modding scene. Can you wrap to Lipo without changing the motor or flywheel? Does that burn out the stock motor?
It’s basically all not nothing if you’re converting to lipo. That kind of current will burn out the stock switches and motors pretty quick. Learning to solder isn’t too hard really. The expensive part about using lipo is buying the battery and charger up front. But once you have them you’ll never need to buy batteries again. So it does save money over time.
I've followed your guide to the letter and my battery bulges out the side. Other than that I think things are good, a little worried about flywheel alignment since the cage I got is different than yours(maybe a revision since yours came out to reduce the flexing on the right side of the blaster?). Realistically I'm just curious if you have any thoughts on why my battery bulges.
Bulges by how much? A few mm? Some batteries are slightly different in thickness, but if it’s only by a little bit you can sand/dremel down the inside of the battery door to make a little more room.
@@AmericanFoam yeah I've got everything cut and sanded down like you've done. It does only bulge a few mm in its current state. It's probably just a battery thickness thing. I don't think sanding it down too much more would make much of a difference. The only things I'm worried about are the battery door breaking or the battery having too much pressure on it from the right fit. Otherwise I can deal with a little bulge.
Sweet mod! Can you please please pleaseee review the adventure force v twin?
Where do you put the alarm?
Why not use a MOSFET? Would save a whole lot of messing about fitting that rev switch.
Sorry if I missed it, but what gauge wire do you prefer for this type of mod?
I usually go with 16 awg.
I want this blaster so bad but it's not in stock locally. When I get one Id like the eventually do this mod. Never sodered before so I need to learn.
I was pretty amped about doing this, nervous, but excited. Got to gathering everything up though and it just go to be too much for me. $60-70 for the kit, and all the materials(not bad), but then after the lipo charger, the dremel, and soldering iron I was looking at something like $200+ 💔. Stock spectrum for now
Haha yup, just went through that same gammut. Decided to take the plunge. Gotta say, having that blaster now makes it feel very worth. Hopefully you'll be able to save up the scratch soon my boy!
@@reedpratt1985 👍🏼 🙏🏼
Does the stock from the Nexus Pro fit the Spectrum? Does the muzzle brake from the Nexus fit Derezzed muzzle piece? I almost want to buy a Nexus just to find out, but will be bummed if the stock or muzzle dont fit 😂
I’m almost certain that that nexus pro stock won’t fit and the barrel probably can though you may need to saw a little
I guess I'm in a different camp. I don't dislike DRAC's kit in the Spectrum, I don't like it better than stock Spectrum front muzzle. I prefer a bit more beef up front, even if on a bullpup-platform. Infact, for my preferred mod, the additional front muzzle conceals my 4" long 9/16" ID Brass Barrel that improves accuracy.
I don’t know how to mod if I was to send you my spectrum would you modify it for me if I paid you???
You should test the worker neo motors instead of fangs, 190-200 fps and ad a barren for improved accuracy
Have you done this?
YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
What gauge wire did you use, and does it matter? Putting together the materials list for the mod.
16 or 18 gauge silicone wire should be fine.
@@AmericanFoam thanks! I used the out of darts link and saw there were options and my brain exploded 🤯. Tried listening for the gauge in your video with no luck.
Has anyone made a 3D printed battery tray for the lipo batteries? Seems like an easy sell.
Can I do 3s lipo and motors? Would that even make a difference if I did?
Yeah. Different combos of motors and wheels get different performances. There are charts online that detail the performance numbers with different setups. I’d check on the Nerf subreddit.
Could you add a potentiometer to dial it down when playing with the kids?
That is certainly doable.
@@AmericanFoam would you just run it in series with the battery?
basic sodder toturial would be great
Which drum mag works best with this? Looking at getting my hands on one I think
Any really. The buzz bee 30 rounders are pretty great if you can get one.
@@AmericanFoam i’ve really been stuck between this modded spectrum and the worker Phoenix and I think I’m gonna go with the spectrum. Saw you using some drum mags so I figured I’d ask. Thank you so much for the reply
Basic soldering tutorial please 🤧
my real question is why hot glue instead of super glue?
I would like to see a mod on the Mega Strike
My kit did not come with the screws for the top rail either, and the front of the rail is a bit loose
UPDATE: I emailed them to ask about the screws and they said to use the screws from the original muzzle
I think I would just print a barrel lug to have attachments in my opinion.
I'd be worried about too much crush on the darts.
At that FPS, many kits almost seem to shred them.
🤔
Flywheels with ridges or other texture do that more than crush depth as long as the crush isn't so tight as to pop the head off the dart.
Depends on what you’re using.
Are there ways to get these to fire Rival rounds?
You would need someone to design a flywheel cage with proper spacing for rival rounds and for upgraded motors and wheels as well as designing some sort of mag adapter for rival mags. Not impossible but not easy either.
Lectron pro 7.4 2000mah 50c battery works great
Oh lawd!
Do i use the 18, 16, or 14awg wire?
I’d go with the 18.
Can I get the link to the fly wheels and cage?

Anyone know what the performance with waffle head darts is with this mod? Thank you for the tutorial, it really breaks the process down nicely and also for the links as well.
I just ran it over the chrony and got 167 FPS on average over 10 waffle darts fired.
@@AmericanFoam Thanks! That's still pretty good. I was a little concerned, since waffles have the slightly broader head than other darts to feed through the blaster.
That effect is usually more pronounced in springers. I love them in flywheels.
@@AmericanFoam Glad to hear it! I'm just stepping into the flywheel realm, and I need to upgrade to deal with all these Nexus and Aeon wielding nerf-herders in my group.
At goodwill I got a retaliator and a rapidstrike and a retaliator stock and barrel including a gun barrel and scope for only $25
Does it work with a red spectrum?
Yeah
Hey, Brad, not sure how big of an ask this is, but would you be willing to build one of these for Ollie for Christmas? I could pay for the blaster, parts and your time. Just let me know how much. I had planned on trying to find him a spectrum anyways, but this thing looks awesome. I would love for him to have something to compete with my Prometheus! Text me.
Ah, don't throw out stock motors and flywheels. Give them to meeee!
Oh I still have them. Lots of them.
He meant spare parts bin, not trash bin lol, those motors run off 9v stock so they may be a bit beefier than normal nerf motors and the wheels could be used as a replacement for something like a barricade that has funky wheels
What app are you using on your phone in the background
The app for the chronograph? It’s just the Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chronograph app.
@@AmericanFoam like the one you use to see what you camera is looking at
Just the GoPro app.
@@AmericanFoam ok thank you
