There were quite a lot of finishing touches to getting the mod parts out in time, but we're still committed to at least one tutorial a month. Let us know below what blaster you'd like us to open up next!
I'd be interested to see if the monolith's rate of fire/inconsistency can be improved
Can I use the stock Flywheel cage and just put new Flywheels and motors?
Can we see a rapid strike mod guide?
why has no one made a 3d printed lipo battery tray for this blaster already
How about some classic ones like the Stampede
The waffle has been temporarily banished to the shadow realm, as it is not required for this video.
As someone new to the modding side of Foam flinging, it would be nice to include more actual firing of the blaster once it is finished so we have more of a grasp on what it will be like
Thanks for your feedback! We have it on our list to include in our next mod guide.
I love the lighting! It makes the green and orange look kind of pastel.
Used this guide very recently and it was excellent. Makes it a very approachable project, and it was my friends first mod!
I absolutely love you soldering skills. I achieved that level a few years back, it really is an art. And your content is above par
Thank you! Your kindness is much appreciated.
As far as future mods, I wouldn't mind seeing the Monolith. That blaster really needs some help out of the box. But, it's an amazing shell and really improves some creature comforts over the Rival line.
These mod guides are so sweet and really helpful for just a entertainment value and be just straight up teaching you how to mod specific blasters and just general skill as well
Don’t have one of these never plan on getting one but I just love the way he puts the reviews together and end watching the whole thing, leaving a comment to help a guy out then wanting to buy more parts/blasters to mod.
Thanks for the guide! Grabbed the rev trigger, mag release, muzzle, tooless battery cover screw, and some coolook batteries/dummies to give me a little boost in performance! Absolutely loved it before, but now...🤩 Awesome products!
Eventually just went for the complete mod kit for it and it just riiiips, 😁👍🏼.
Been wanting to mod a blaster for a while. This video convinced me to give it a try. Just bought the whole kit
Update: finished my mod about an hour ago. Everything went smoothly and we’re firing away. This guide is incredibly helpful. I’m a complete beginner (like bought a soldering iron for this project beginner) but this video made the mod pretty simple.
How much dose the whole project cost? I got a soldering iron for my birthday and I'm thinking of modding this blaster.
@@TheJelloMancer I purchased the mod kit including a 2s lipo battery, charger, and alarm for $92, the top rail and muzzle set for $17, a 3D printed rev trigger for $3, and some loc tite for $6...... Total came to $126.94. Plus I had to buy a solder iron station and some helping hands cause I didn't have them. Got those from Amazon for about $60 for both....... Should get it all this weekend! I'm new to all this too and am not sure what type and size of solder to use. The stuff that comes with the station I bought does not have built in flux/rosin. After watching enough of these mod videos, I do know that the little bit of smoke that comes from the solder when they heat it, comes from the rosin core of the solder they are using. Wish they were specific as to what they used.
@@jaym1244 the solder he uses is sold on his website it is lead-free, 1.5mm wire diameter and for nerf mods they usually use a thinner solder wire since you can control it much easier, lead solder is better for beginners and generally more stable.
I picked my Spectrum up shortly after it came out. First thing I did to it mod wise was replace the rev trigger, mag release, and a thumbscrew with ones from your store. Need to mod a few more things and it will be perfect.
Great guide. Your videos are always pretty clean and easy to follow
As always Awesome job Luke! Really appreciate how through you are with mod guides.
Thanks for the kit and the video. I've watched it twice. Gonna do this for real tomorrow. First flywheel mod I've done. Thanks again for making it so comprehensive
Thanks for the excellent guide, this will be my first mod with your kit.
Heather: Side note about the lack of heatshrink, that will bite you in the ass if that blaster stays in a humid environment and heatshrink actually helps with that, otherwise you really don't technically need heatshrink caps because that part should not be moving.
Bro... watched this whole thing just for fun, weirdly entertaining.
I like how the trigger smiles at me and my enemies as I fling em
Bro you made my little family had much more fun. Started to mod simply because my young daughter wasn't strong enough to load springer. So I went semi auto then I. Wanted her to be as "competitive" as her older brother. Now we all kick moms bumb 🤣👍
I have the mag release and rev switch upgrades on my red spectrum, using three 3.2v cooloks on stock motors and its about as far as I want to go for playing with my son and nephew, until I get into local games that is.
Mod guides are mostly why I'm here
This was fantastic. The only thing I would add is that you need a little plinking montage at the end to show off the blaster. Great vid!
Awsome video! Would love to see a villainator mod soon
I'm starting to think electrical mods may not be as scary as I originally thought. May finally do the Rayven mod I've been wanting
I’ll be honest, it wasn’t extremely hard but it also wasn’t easy at all. As someone who never modded any kind of blaster before my main concern was messing up and wasted money.
Really hope to see a foregrip at some point. Doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of options out there and it is a bit uncomfortable holding that area due to the rails.
Just modded mine. Thank you for the help 😎👍
I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time
And you didn’t disappoint :)
The Buffer Tube Stock add-on makes more sense as it would fit better both in the Adventure Force Eco System as the Nexus uses one as well as separating AF/DZ from N-Strike as they isn't a guarantee that Nerf will keep producing N-Strike. By using Public Domain Formats like Picatine and Buffer Tubes you keep the AF/DZ modding safe
This mod guide is definitely one of the better ones I've seen. Do you plan on making a nerf stryfe mod guide, since it is such a popular blaster?
Great VIDEO...Spectrum is awesome!!!
great guide. very pleasant watch
Glad it was helpful!
You have the greatest quality video production!
Thanks!
It looks so much better without that huge muzzle.
Just got all my parts in the mail today
Nice mod as always just like a longer barrel
Great video, as always.
Although I disagree about the rev trigger. I love the Spectrum rev trigger.
Looks super good
You are a perfectionist. Full Stop Period Over and done with. :)
I didn't like the slip in the rev trigger without the spring, so I cut my switch tab a bit so I could still use it
I'd love a mod guide on the Modulus Regulator. With that replacement board that came out, there are possibilities, but I feel like everyone kind of gave up on it before that realization could take hold.
In particular, I'd love if someone could figure out how to get that conveyor belt system to work for half darts.
I might have to get another spectrum just to mod. I'm really just getting into the hobby so everything I have is stock but I have definitely been curious about modding. This video might push me to do it.
Hey weird question is the sound of flywheels and presumably HIR firing off from the first HIRicane video? Something I always wondered
Would really really love to see a full auto kit and a half length/full length pusher for this. If you can find a way to produce those Luke, I'd be buying 3-5 of them from you myself, im sure there are others like me! 🙏🙏$$
Already have the mag release and rev trigger and they're great. Not interested in the LiPo mod at this time (just not something I'm ready to take on at the moment, plus it really does run shockingly well on alkalines) but I desperately NEED that stock cap adapter because the stock Spectrum stock sucks. It's the only part not listed on your website at the moment as far as I can tell (as of 9/21), but I'm hoping it will appear soon.
So psyched to put a Worker AK stock on this bad boy!
EDIT: Posted before finishing video. I see it's forthcoming. Buffer tube works, too. SWEEEET.
I always want to mod but have been scared to brick my blasters. This one doesn't look so rough, I may attempt this.
Just go slow and use a guide/video
I would like to see kits sold. All the parts in one package.
Also, if no one has noticed, moddin/fixing nerf blasters is a fantastic way to bond with your kids.
We started with the Spectrum and we intend to work our way through popular builds to make complete mod kits for blasters. Stay tuned for updates!
For SURE the Monolith can use a mod guide!
Just as a constructive comment on these mod guides, it would be instructive and entertaining to see at the beginning a before and after shooting comparison and an overview of what mods are going in and what they do. These videos tend to assume the viewer already knows about these mods and has purchased them.
Thanks for the feedback! We'll try to take that into account in our next tutorial.
@@outofdarts Thanks for all your effort doing these videos. They look like a lot of work so I want you to know I am grateful for the info!
I already have a Mk 3
(I got the mod kit for that)
But I think either my spectrum or my Raven is going to get modded next
I want a 3d-printed battery compartment replacement. There is underutilized space and, uh, it's just nice to keep the stock option just in case.
Oh, and full-auto/select fire kits!
i really like that stock adapter, but is there any way you can fill in the gap between the blaster body and the stock? maybe add some material that matches the spectrum's body lines?
Touché
Please do a proper mod guide for the Monolith or Quantum! Nobody has hardly even mentioned either one except for Drac and couple of people doing reviews or unboxings. I haven't heard anyone mention the flywheel problems with the Monolith. 3S WILL break stock flywheels! I have Nerf Charger flywheels in mine. I used 14awg wire, 16amp switches, a 1500mah 100C lipo, and a Kraken for the conveyer. I couldn't be happier with the results! Oh and PLEASE make a trigger for the spectrum so u can have the mag release, rev and fire trigger all match
For the Worker Prophecy not using the XPT (the normal size plunger tube) do you know if using a 12kg spring with the blue Stefan kit would you need to change the barrel to the orange Stefan kit barrel due to the more power
I recently rewired my stryfe and yesterday one of its motors wiring broke so now I have to do it again
Hey I did this mod about a month ago and ran into a problem with the pusher mech. At 25:10, you can see that your pusher gets off its pathway and gets pushed up by the next dart in the mag . I’m assuming that yours happened because the trigger came off but it seems to happen every time for me even when my trigger is screwed down and the blaster is fully closed. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
Is demolishing the battery tray really necessary or is it possible to just swap it out for a 3-d printed version???
Hey I loved this video! I just got a spectrum myself a day ago and I was wondering if there is a resistor that stops voltage at a certain number of volts? I would love to use a lipo but I am bad at wiring so I want to run rechargeable imrs or something like that that is a double a battery with more volts. Also I had a really dumb idea I wanted to throw out to you and see if you think it will work or not. Do you think the stock flywheels with some ridges added on like a sleeve of sort will increase performance, or will it just do nothing. Also I thought of putting tape on the flywheels to make it less diameter for the dart to pass through, which means more crush. Let me know if these ideas would work or not.
A sleeve of sorts is likely to slip and cause issues. We have not tested tape as an option, but I imagine it might do what you're suggesting. If you're willing to risk your stock flywheels or the tape leaving residue on them, go ahead. I think we'll stick to Daybreaks though, as we've gotten really consistent performance with a variety of crush options.
@@outofdarts sweet thank you so much for your thoughtful response Luke!
@@outofdarts hey luke I had another question! In the stryfe, there is a voltage regulator to stop it from going over a certain number of volts. IF you twist it and short that, then you can use over 12 volts stock flywheel. Is there a similar thing in the spectrum?
@@tejasm1977 youll fry the switch.
would it be possible to put the barrel extention of the max stryker of the new muzzle piece and do you have a extended pusher for short darts love the modguids by the way i am more of a springer guy and love my max stryker (will that be getting upgrades?)
The Max Stryker "muzzle brake" attachment would probably negatively impact the performance of the spectrum, but we do have a sort dart pusher in the works. The Max Stryker also has many compatible upgrades and accessories on the shop! Just search "Stryker."
great video. i just received a kit from out of darts. just a question. can I use loctite 243 threadlocker on the motor screws? will it attack the PLA cage?
Yes, Loctite 243 is safe for PLA and can be used for your motor screws.
thanks so much!
I have 2 demolishers I want to buy the double flywheel one but not sure how to put that together. Would love to see that done.
Stock cage works just fine. You can just change motors and flywheels. Snip the back retainers slightly to clear the motor terminals and clear the lips around the screw holes for 41mm spacing and done. OOD cage never worked for me...
Ok. I want one. Curse you! Off to Walmart...grrrr. also am wondering if it would be possible to create a dedicated pusher that could do both long and short darts as a drop in like the one that worker does for the stryfe?
Hey Luke. Can you please make a mod guide for this same Spectrum showing how to make full auto with short darts?
I can't guarantee it will be our next mod guide, but I will certainly put it on the list of possible mod guides we produce.
Hello! How would you go about getting the stock cap adapter? I can’t find it anywhere on your website!
this seems like a fairly simple mod, but do you think it would be a first time (flywheeler) mod? I've got a spectrum and have been wanting to do this for a while, now I've got a great mod guide, I think it's feasible?
It's certainly feasible! Like the Stryfe before it, I think the Spectrum is a great beginner mod project, and Dart Zone gave us loads more room to work with.
Awesome! This is a great for kids while adults use nexus pro or stryker. This looks like the dartzone mk 3 and will be a good kid companion to that adult blaster!
Finally
I have a question about the spectrum, I went to Walmart yesterday and found a yellow spectrum.
is that like a weird thing that somehow happened in the factory when it was being colored?
The Spectrum has come in Green and Red. If you've seen a yellow one in the wild, that might be the next color they're going for.
Need to show final performance on a range or in the shop.
Thanks for the feedback! We had some hiccoughs getting this out with everything we wanted to, but we will certainly add some range demos in future mod guides.
what size should i choose to fit a normal no shell modding spectrum
just finished mine, unfortunately the cage does not seem to seat down enough for the dart to feed well. I've tried cleaning up the print as well as I can and seating it down fully. could there be an issue with the current version of the cage or I got a poor print? thanks.
Shoot us an email with pictures and we'd be happy to help! orders@outofdarts.com
if you never fixed this i ended up trimming the screw posts and it worked, however make sure your wires have room.
So does the Spectrum cage have the same mounting and wheel placement as the Stryfe and Rapidstrike, or is it different?
The mounting is slightly different. As with all other Daybreak cages (with the mounting holes tailored to each blaster) you can get them in a variety of spacing options.
Bought this mod pack from Out of Darts and I have to say it was very easy to install for my first mod. The only issue I had is the cage seems to be misaligned. When the dart gets pushed into the cage, it doesn't line up correctly. The dart seems higher than the cage entrance and trigger pulls seem forced and sometimes the dart wont go in at all and has to be manually guided using the jam door w/ my finger. This is not an error in installation as the cage only fits one way and there is no modification to the pusher or the mag depth. I wonder if I got the wrong cage from them. The blaster I have is the red version Spectrum from Walmart, not the green one seen here. Also, the lower flywheel rubbed hard on the jam door assembly screw after the first assembly. Flywheels where seated as low as they could get on the cage too so again, not an install error. I had to remove the screw and much of the housing then secure with hot glue to prevent it from rubbing again. I cannot see them making an error in production, the only thing that makes sense is the red Spectrum may be slightly different than the one seen here and the cages are not aligned alike. It still works just not as good as I hoped.
I would like to add here though, that his mod guides are second to none. Extremely well done and informative. He grasps every detail and explains it all in a very easy to understand and comprehensive way. Definitely a new sub here!
Feel free to send us an email with pictures! We may be able to help figure out what's going on. orders@outofdarts.com
I have exactly the same issue! did you end up having a suitable solution?
this seems to be a common problem, but the 4 rubber vibration dampeners raise the cage, so you need to trim the screw posts they sit on to account for them. sometimes 3d printed parts arent 100% perfect.
when will you have the stock adapter for the spectrum on your website for sale?
I like to see a mod on an Adventure Force Matrix fire that would be cool
When will y’all be printing/selling that stock adapter?
Idk bout anyone elsw, but i like the big oj muss
Can I saw off the original barrel instead of taking all the screws out and splitting the blaster into half?
If you are prepared to sand down any sharp edges created by cutting off the barrel, then yes. I've found the look and feel cleaner to warrant unscrewing the Spectrum and putting in a new shorter decorative barrel.
more is better. would love to see something for the Mega XL when it's more common.
We just got one off the shelf of our local Kroger for 40% off! Expect a review soon!
@@outofdarts yay Fred Meyer! Gotta check myself soon.
Will this blaster ever get a mod for half darts? I'm a fan of the half darts.
What’s the name of the switch you put into the handle please get back with me I’m trying to mod both of my nurf guns my other one is a matrix fire and do you have a mod video for it too
All parts and accessories should be linked in the description. We also have complete mod kits available for this and many other blasters.
Where did you get the stock cap from?
Any chance on a short dart kit for this blaster?
Where can I perches part to mod my spectrum I have to same one
I can't find the stock adapter on your site
what happened to the stock point attachment?
That stock adapter is not as good as the merged version on thingi, it's much more sturdy and gives you a couple more inches in length for the stock
My motor cage isn’t quite level to the dart pusher, how to fix?
Shoot us an email to orders@outofdarts.com with pictures! We'll be happy to help you there!
Does this also work in the Thunderbolt?
I tried doing this mod but my fly wheel cage didn’t fit right what should I do
Shoot us an email with some pictures: orders@outofdarts.com
Omg I’m a big fan I don’t think you would respond
Does Nerf make any flywheel blasters?
Next mod... adventure force tomahawk pls :)
is the green dart zone and the red adventure force completely the same?
Dart Zone is a company that sells walmart exclusive blasters under the Adventure Force brand, alongside X-Shot and Buzz Bee. It is quite possible that where you are in the world they sell the spectrum with the same internals with either Dart Zone or Adventure Force branding.
@@outofdarts is there any known blaster where the internals are different between dart zone and adventure force brands? another question. can you tell me the shipping costs to germany for a package containing 2x the spectrum mod kit (cage, motors, rails, buttons, switche ect)? thanks alot
@@buckethead420 If they don't have "Powered by PT-DZ" somewhere on the blaster, then it's probably an X-Shot or Buzz Bee blaster.
We cannot easily calculate shipping costs outside the shop. If you add 2 kits to your cart and enter in your information, it will calculate the cost of shipping before you click "Purchase." If you have any other questions, shoot us an email: orders@outofdarts.com
@@outofdarts i already did before i asked here on yt... hoped for a shortcut xD looking forward to your answer via email :-)
Out of darts what does younkit for the spectrum get the fps to
It varies depending on the flywheel spacing you select, but this mod guide features the 42mm spacing and gets an average of 139 FPS.
I'm not modding
Just like watching how things are done
What about an N Strike barrel mod?
design a battery tray so it looks better inside like outside !!!

Where do I the grommets?
