A fun fact about the cartoon: The show literally had a total of 5 voice actors. Each voiced one of the five leads, and were all spread out amongst the various antagonists and supporting characters, except for Karen Strassman. Since Jinja was the only girl on the team, that also meant she voiced literally every other female character in the show. It's quite a testament to the whole cast's talent that they were able to showcase that much range. Methinks a lot of the budget went into marketing and merchandising, so condensing the show's cast helped save costs where they could
A lot of gundam series under ocean dub like wing or 00 while having a decent sized cast had their main actors speaking lines for a lot side characters such as brad swaille Sam Vincent and of course Scott McNeill.

I remember watching the show but thought that some episodes did better than others when it came to the monsters themselves given that they were just seen as that and no real connection was made with the humans like other shows of this genre. There was also the antagonists where I though the yellow team was the more interesting faction compared to the reds since they were a organized military unit which created the monsters for warfare. The fact I remember those good days of collecting bakugan toys and I remember when monsuno was taught to become the next big thing. One of the reasons why I'm so glad similar franchises are making a come back. The bakugan relaunch was great aside from the lack of variety like they had in the past , but the idea of chasing around to find these cute and awesome little figures is just the best. It's also really nice as an animation student to understand how they did certain stuff as well. Time to finish unravelling Jeoradys' work.
I still have to finish the video but I was excited when you mentioned the "Gormiti", I come from Italy the homeland of these characters, I grew up there and I still keep beautiful memories and many gormiti, especially of the first series, and news, soon they will release a "reboot" of the first historical characters, with new figures and colors! Wow, you just unlocked a fleeting memory of my childhood. I met Monsuno thanks to the series, and I remember watching the toys commercials from time to time, but never actually seeing them in toy stores. Maybe the distribution back then here in Argentina wasn't that great, but I remember wanting at least one to try them out. Amazing video, I finally got to know what Monsuno was about.
Really liked and appreciated that ending statement about plans, something I’ll have to remember. On a different note: SKYLANDERS GAAAH! I loved that franchise but I still haven’t finished it because my hand-me-down Wii is busted :( at some point I’ll get a new one or figure out some way to play it on PC.
I loved this reminder of Monsuno, it was a cool concept for a game similar to Bakugan(even though I never played it), and the show was awesome, even though it had nothing to do with the actual card game it was still cool with a kick-ass theme song that I still love and jam too. Also in the show the catchphrase was Launch, but they usually said the Monsuno’s name for example,” Lock, Launch” that was what the main character said
Didn't expect a very heartwarming message at the end there Jett, it's exactly what I need. A good heap of food from Hello Fresh to pull me out of this dumpy mood
I'm actually sad that I only heard about Monsuno from yours and Kohdoks really old Monsuno videos way back then when I was a kid. Because I literally don't ever remember seeing them in stores besides being only at a few Chuck E Cheeses to win them with tickets.
This is possibly the best retrospective on Monsuno I've seen so far. This is so well written. And it gave me a new perspective on my favourite little series Funnily enough, I didn't take much interest in it when the cartoon first aired. It seemed alright. I could tell it was mimicking Bakugan. Years later, I vaguely remembered this show and seeked it out. I found it again and fell in love with it. The cartoon is a hot mess, to be perfectly honest, but it's just right amount of ridiculous and cool to be fun
This video just made want to play the first bakugan video game because of the desert field theme playing when the monsunos were spinning in the Battle arena
10:18 man I need a shelf, but maybe something not that small and... themed. Or even a nice case with eva foam molds to hold my bakugan. Wish I knew a way to get something like that.
This honestly takes me back sad to see the franchise die out but think of it like they learned to crawl so skylanders could walk. Most of my memories come from the anime the openings just being fire, and first discovering it as a nickolodeon web game not knowing what it was until the anime which kid me genuinely thought the show was based on the game XD and use to draw the monters, put them in the tiny kinder surprise capsules and just launch them
my older brother and I got the starter set of this when it came out. I still have fond memories. I got Lock and my brother Evo. I lost the cards almost immediately but I remember watching the show on sketchy sites online and bringing it school to show how cool it all was. 10 year old me was devastated when it stopped airing. Since then I've been periodically rewatching the show and looking for videos online, and well, here I am. Thanks for making such a good video on something so obscure!
Something funny is that I had a stadium like that and thought it was a weird beyblade stadium for years till now and I’ve only had the stadium and not the toy
Glad to see attactix get a brief shout out! I loved it as a kid. Me and my buddies had a bunch and would battle after school. It was a great way to introduce kids to the concept of wargames
Your videos never cease to entertain and amaze me Jett. You are the golden standard for comedy, editing, script writing, and all else needed to make a fun and informative video! I cannot wait for more uwu Ps. I wonder if the market for toy based card games will ever be ripe enough for a brave soul to attempt to capture the hearts and minds of those who just want a monster based adventure!
I remember when I found out about Monsuno as a kid. Me and a friend both decided to get one each thinking to ourselves, "This is the gonna be the next big thing after Bakugan." We brought them to school once, realized how finicky they were, and that was about it. I think it also didn't help that as far as I know the show never came out over here
Damn i totally wasn't expecting skylanders to be in this, and what you said about skylanders is definitely true, for like 3 years I kept asking for them and now I have a box full of them that I'm looking to sell lol. I'm only keeping a few for the memories and for their sculpting, like Spyro and Cinder, but damn yeah looking back on it, skylanders must have killed a bunch of franchises
I briefly played the original Ninjago spinner game. You get your character card with stats that dictated which support cards you were allowed to use. One such card gave you a two block high wall to protect your ninja from your opponent's attack.
i do remember monsuno, i remember getting some of the toys back then when it was going on, also i remember trying drinking from the monsuno capsule by pouring some juice in it,(i was a bit off an odd kid back then), the only reason i wanted the monsuno toys at the time because those looked cool to me, also i do remember collecting the transformers bot shots toys, i was kinda obsessed with those because they looked really and i collected them but sometimes i would unscrew them because why not, also i also remember watching Kohdok's video on monsuno and it was really good, the way he talked about it was amazing and entertaining, and now lost forever, i don't own any monsuno toys anymore, lost to obscurity back in my old house, so overall, they way you talk about it was also pretty good Jett, 10/10 on the video
2:55 XEVOZ MENTIONED⁉ I JUST got into that toyline earlier this year and while I only have one 100% complete Xevoz figure (Inferno Fury, which has some gorgeous translucent parts, the missile launcher for mine still works, and I got the sticker sheets + manual that were still mint!) I absolutely love the world-building and intricate species lore for this forgotten toyline! 💕 I'm still so surprised that my 20~ year old Xevoz figure still has super firm joints and I saw how other collectors with their own Xevoz figures have also equally aged well with their joints! There still is a very small but passionate collector base for Xevoz figures and stumbling across their niche review blogs are so much fun to look into, but it truly breaks my heart to see how such a well made Stikfas-adjacent toyline failed so badly 😭💔 EVEN THE ELUSIVE TIE-IN COMIC FAILED AFTER ONE ISSUE 😫
Man I remember seeing the commercials and stuff as a kid but ignored it cause of lego and bakugan, it really is sad it died quick since products like these really can be fun if they're improved, guess it came out too late 😰👍🔥
Wow! What a journey for something I vaguely remember hearing about and didn't realize tried to unite the holy trinity of toy based battle games into one and came so close! Thanks for sharing this!
THANK YOUUUUU I WATCHED MONSUNO WHEN I WAS LIKE 7 AND THEY REMOVED IT FROM HULU AND ALL THESE YEARS LATER IVE FORGOTTEN THE NAME OF MY FIRST ANIME AND NEVER FINISHED IT THANK YOUUUUUUU
I LOVED this series as a kid! the concept of spinning, chimeric monsters hit so many switches in my brain. I still have my alt-colored Spiderwolf and I think Whiplash's core sitting on my desk... it's a shame the series utterly died, since the show felt totally different from other ones
0:54 I've never eaten food. i have a tube going into my stomach so i've never actually been able to taste anything, it's a horrible condition i've been aflicted with.
Yes, I indeed did try to play the ninjago top game Edit: I loved skylanders as a kid, and it’s still fun to pick every now and then, but I had no idea that that’s what ended up killing the toy battling monster games.
Bro this is so nostalgic I did have them but because I was like 5 or4 don't remember I didn't know the gameplay and I was playing with the monsters and I ended up breaking them by the way I'm 12 and I'm still playing bakugan and is still awesome they did some amazing things with the cards and it's gameplay. BTW great video.
That ending message was inspirational, I’m gonna pick up my tcg again today and develop it further. Thank you JettKuso ^-^ Also thanks for the video, never knew what Monsuno was until now
I played the Ninjago spinner game. My favorite card is Jay’s Throwing Star. During the spin phase, you can THROW THE CARD AT YOUR OPPONENT’S SPINNER. I love that you can attack your opponent physically, imagine if you could do that in Bakugan! You can defend with proper placement sure, but image throwing a metal card at a Bakugan mid-roll.
Man, I remember watching this show and recording the episodes. When I could, I’d watch the new episodes first release. Loved the show so much. It sucked finding out it got canceled when I was young.
11:25 Am I the only one who digs how you portrayed the "Multi-Launcher", with screams and fire sounds, scary slow-mo and "One-Winged Angel" (not even the Advent Children, Remake or Crisis Core versions, but the original "One-Winged Angel") playing in the background to really sum up its sinister presence.
I honestly loved this anime and the toys literally gave me so many memories to the point I bought $300 Worth of sealed boxes and untouched sealed packs of singles for a collection
when you play Monsuno, you can call out the name of your Monsuno, example: Backslash, Lock or any of there names Launch, I still have my monsuno cores back than and its still cool back in the days
I actually remember someone at school brining a few of these and showing them to the class we were in during break. I completely forgot about this stuff.
I only ever had 2 Wild cores, thought they were pretty cool. What I loved about ‘em is that in-person, once they really got spinning it really looked like there was a glowing orb in the center, no joke!
I miss 2011 alot. it's so hard to find a fun yet engaging and a tinsy bit complex game that doesn't involve a screen these days. beyblade,4wds,bakugan,bdaman or whatever was a simple fun thing, but it was a thing. and i really do miss them. cause there's nothing that will ever feel as crisp as pulling that cord or pushing that trigger or taking your mini 4wd to the local track that you got to go to once a week.
I feel that the price point they were asking for Monsuno also hurt them, but I do know I liked them. However, the best item in the entire line is one that came during Combat Chaos, or in other words, after the toyline had died. The Multi-Bomb. While I'm not entirely certain on its function, it had a spinning top that could be loaded up with 8 Monsuno that would launch while it turned, and you were supposed to strike a pad at the base with your own core to pop the top open until all four panels opened up. Honestly, I still hope Jakks has the molds around and reuses it as a 'boss' for the Sonic line they've got going, but I doubt they will.
I remember when I was a kid, my friend's cousin (a city kid) visited him. We were playing cards, and I noticed something in the corner of the living room along with his luggage. It was a frekin Monsuno Case! Lots of cores+monsters inside, and I only managed to borrow like 1 or 2 of em that day...
Remember seeing ads for it and the show. I was very much getting out of that collectible monster game toy franchises. So when I saw it I was intrigue (I mean I can only think of a few franchises were the main heroes uses a polar bear creature) but I never got into. And hearing what happened to it is tragic.
in my country it's simple there's a certain time every morning, around which kids usually wake up for school (7-8) and in that time you can usually run like two cartoons so there was only ever one major toy based battling game at a time the one that managed to get the morning spot

Didn't expected for a Monsuno video to be part of the Jett Kuso lore
I'm actually sad that I only heard about Monsuno from yours and Kohdoks really old Monsuno videos way back then when I was a kid. Because I literally don't ever remember seeing them in stores besides being only at a few Chuck E Cheeses to win them with tickets.
This is possibly the best retrospective on Monsuno I've seen so far. This is so well written. And it gave me a new perspective on my favourite little series
Funnily enough, I didn't take much interest in it when the cartoon first aired. It seemed alright. I could tell it was mimicking Bakugan. Years later, I vaguely remembered this show and seeked it out. I found it again and fell in love with it. The cartoon is a hot mess, to be perfectly honest, but it's just right amount of ridiculous and cool to be fun
just want to say this channel has upped my Ebay searches. I've been subbed because of Bakugan. loving these toy breakdowns.
Most of my memories come from the anime the openings just being fire, and first discovering it as a nickolodeon web game not knowing what it was until the anime which kid me genuinely thought the show was based on the game XD and use to draw the monters, put them in the tiny kinder surprise capsules and just launch them
3:12 does anyone remember what this is called?
my older brother and I got the starter set of this when it came out.
I cannot wait for more uwu
Ps. I wonder if the market for toy based card games will ever be ripe enough for a brave soul to attempt to capture the hearts and minds of those who just want a monster based adventure!
Thank you for the kind words!
I remember when I found out about Monsuno as a kid. Me and a friend both decided to get one each thinking to ourselves, "This is the gonna be the next big thing after Bakugan."
We brought them to school once, realized how finicky they were, and that was about it.
10/10 comment, thank you.

I remember finding a Monsuno capsule from my neighbors.
No character inside. Just a tube.
I actually think the Season 2 stuff drastically improves on season one, but it was too late…
Wow! What a journey for something I vaguely remember hearing about and didn't realize tried to unite the holy trinity of toy based battle games into one and came so close! Thanks for sharing this!
Loved this video! Will you make more videos covering those "toy battle" franchises ?
I’d like to!
Just got my first bakugan
Haos pincitaur
Big fan
Bro this was ligit a trip down memory lane I wish they rebooted this
Yes, I indeed did try to play the ninjago top game
Edit: I loved skylanders as a kid, and it’s still fun to pick every now and then, but I had no idea that that’s what ended up killing the toy battling monster games.
BTW great video.
i wonder if digital integration used in skylanders would be good for a bakugan game. Like you can scan your real bakugans to use them in the game
That was called Bakugan Dimensions
That ending message was inspirational, I’m gonna pick up my tcg again today and develop it further.
Thank you JettKuso ^-^
Also thanks for the video, never knew what Monsuno was until now
i did frikin nijago pretty good
I played the Ninjago spinner game.
God this is wonderful
God this was so nostalgic, I used to love these things, and over half the other toy brands you mentioned were things i had as a kid
Man, I remember watching this show and recording the episodes. When I could, I’d watch the new episodes first release. Loved the show so much. It sucked finding out it got canceled when I was young.
amazing video. you definitely unlocked some memories I didn't know I had ;-; thank you
11:25
Am I the only one who digs how you portrayed the "Multi-Launcher", with screams and fire sounds, scary slow-mo and "One-Winged Angel" (not even the Advent Children, Remake or Crisis Core versions, but the original "One-Winged Angel") playing in the background to really sum up its sinister presence.
Could you make more vids about toy based games like beyblade, battle strikers, etc? Loved this vid
Loved playing the ninjago spinners as a kid, such a throw back I still have some of my figures and spinners with the cards
I do miss Monsuno. I loved coming home from school and playing with my monsunos l wish l could get more of them.
Oh my god you just unlocked a memory from deep inside my brain I remember seeing the ads on tv now
I remember seeing this at cartoon network as a ad
And man i actually wanted one lmao
But now ive forgotten about it
until i saw your vid lol
I did not expect komm susser tod but I am glad you included it
You're good at this, I hope you make more videos on dead toy battling games
I actually remember someone at school brining a few of these and showing them to the class we were in during break. I completely forgot about this stuff.
I used to see those ninjago spinners at stores, I always begged my grandma for one but she ain't give me
I only ever had 2 Wild cores, thought they were pretty cool. What I loved about ‘em is that in-person, once they really got spinning it really looked like there was a glowing orb in the center, no joke!
1:18 You are fresh hello fresh (drum sound)
I miss 2011 alot.
it's so hard to find a fun yet engaging and a tinsy bit complex game that doesn't involve a screen these days.
beyblade,4wds,bakugan,bdaman or whatever was a simple fun thing, but it was a thing. and i really do miss them. cause there's nothing that will ever feel as crisp as pulling that cord or pushing that trigger or taking your mini 4wd to the local track that you got to go to once a week.
14:24 whenever I hear this music I have expected to hear a distorted anguished scream fade in, particularly the famous keemstar Minecraft one
XD gotta love the bakugan background music at the very beginging. I also still have one of my monsunos, it was a ram like hypogyph
You got a song I haven’t heard in a decade stuck in my head.
11:20 i love how advent; one winged angel starts to play
monsuno could possibly make a comeback, both beyblade and bakugan are back as strong if not stronger than they were before
I remember when I was a kid, my friend's cousin (a city kid) visited him.
And hearing what happened to it is tragic.
in my country it's simple
there's a certain time every morning, around which kids usually wake up for school (7-8)
and in that time you can usually run like two cartoons
so there was only ever one major toy based battling game at a time
the one that managed to get the morning spot
I actually did play the ninjago battle top game with the neighborhood bully! I beat him and he never talked to me again. Good times.
