Absolutely incredible video. Thanks for taking the time to create such informative material. I purchased a Canyon Ultimate before COVID hit, largely on your recommendations and it was an excellent purchase. I spotted a gorgeous white Aeroad here in NYC a month ago and drooled all over my group set, I tried to get the guys attention but he was off with the wind. Fair. I think I prefer the looks of the previous model, more spindley and elegant but I’m sure the drag has been reduced significantly. Slightly saddened they decided to move in the Ultimate direction as I like the distinction in designs. Those Treks are sexy. Wish there was a de Rosa in the mix.
Absolutely superb video! I've been waiting on the new Aeroad since I saw MVDP last September racing on it. It's been such a long wait but oh was it worth it. You covered absolutely everything in 20mins, that's crazy! The thing that really bugged me about the Aeroad was that it's 100g heavier than the previous model, they specced the old 2020 dt swiss wheels, and I was looking forward to getting a slx frame just to find out it only comes with ultegra, not dura ace. The only options with the slx frame are sram force etap or ultegra di2. They will be adding the new, wider, 2021 dt swiss wheels with the Aeroads from 2021. Too bad for the people who already ordered theirs, haha
Love your channel subbed to it. For people on their devices could you pop a picture of the bikes at the end when going through the charts. That would help immensely. Thanks. Keep em comin!
Really great work, that table & comp. analysis is pure gold✨ better work than all of the UK mainstream bike industry reporting!! Chapeaux 👏 Got Aeroad 7 AXS for the look, feel & *current* newness of Sram. Not feeing so bad for my bank account now. Cheers
Very nice compare, but question to price chart (19:00), price segment CFR Dura Ace: Do you have in mind that the Dura Ace version comes with the powermeter crank? Are the competitors equipped the same?
I bought the Cannondale SystemSix hi-mod red eTap axs , over the canyon, and can definitely say that the cannondale is very compliant. Can ride it all day without issues, feels much more comfortable than my old felt z3r which was a superb endurance bike..
Ref to the handlebars, my understanding of hydraulic brake cables are that they are quite stiff and are normally cut to length during installation. How is it possible that they are able to hide enough of this in the bars, stem and fork for the bars to disconnect as they say it does?
i dont think they need to be lenghened when you disconnect the handlebars. i guess they just leave little bit of extra length inside the frame so that it will work.
03:15 I just paused here. the contact points are exactly the same. right? I'm really divided between ultimate on aeroad, but I cannot test them. Geometry is 99% equal, so the handling should similar right? just looking for oppinion here. Great vid as allways.
I believe the Aeroad is widely accepted as being a quite fast bike. I have one and whole heartedly concur. The Propel, however, has some reports that it's not as fast as others. Cam Nichols did a direct comparison with a Winspace bike which was about 10% faster than the Propel. Also, Ollie from GCN commented that the Propel was not as fast as the competition. He suggested that a video exists but I've not seen it. I love Giant bikes, I have an Escape and it's fantastic. But it seems they can do better with their aero offering.
no, thanks for the tip - I had a look, interesting, unfortunately I cant use the images on their site for my reviews as I cant find away to get them out the script they're in with a clean background
I feel canyon price comparisons should include the canyon postage. Stores will generally offer a bit of a discount but under stably can't change the retail price for comparisons
Bikotic, to answer your question in the video, I have the SystemSIx Hi-Mod. I find it pretty comfortable and did a Century on it with no problem at all. The headtube and fork junction point does look a bit strange if you turn the bars all the way out but honestly, you never do that while riding. It hasn't been an issue for me at all and even in wet weather water doesn't really manage to get in there. If you have any more questions please let me know and I will be happy to answer them. SystemSix is my favorite bike out right now. It will be interesting to see the German TOUR Magazine's wind tunnel shootout results next year and also to see if the new Aeroad dethrones the SystemSix as the fastest bike in the Wind Tunnel.
Great work. Looking at the older Aeroad vs 2021 could the price difference be justified for someone upgrading vs buying new . *Canyon outlet has some marked down up to 15%
Great video. Canyon have lost a potential buyer here. The price penalty for UK buyers is ludicrous with the CF SLX 8 di2 €4,999 in France (for example) versus £5,199 here. That’s a + c.£650/14% markup.
@@danielmoorhouse6506 I did the same and had to laugh at their reference to a "slightly higher price point". Hopefully the fact we have contacted them will at least provide food for thought.
Me personally I would stick with the aeroad. I considered the reacto and the foil due to the cheaper price point but then I looked at the Reacto specs. The crankset is not even entry level along with the rotors and wheels set the price would bump up drastically by the time you replaced those items. At least with the Foil you just have to replace the wheels which would still put it over the price point of the Aeroroad now I do like the fact that both companies hides the cables and I am Leary of the seatpost on the canyon. I guess it boils down to personal choice. Sorry for the long rant
Quite possibly no brand beats Canyon in terms of pricing. Being direct-to-consumer, they are commonly thousands less than similarly equipped bikes from other brands.
So much for Canyon value. The CF SL7 is $4000 for 105? I don't care that it includes carbon wheels, but that's rich for entry 105. Wasn't the old 105 Aeroad only $3500? Giant is a good option here and you get better LBS support and warranty.

Love the optical comparison to the competitors! I enjoyed listening to your calm voice. Great work.
The mid and low range aeroads are lighter than the competitors, and all have carbon wheels. You should consider this in your price compare list!

Reacto, SL7 and Venge are still the best for most people if you're going to spend top dollar.
What about the 3T Strada. I rate it
Canyon used to be relatively a cheaper option since they are doing direct sales. But this is not the case any longer i am afraid.
