Wasn't the idea that there is a certain fog that replaces the memories of Derry, so when they do come in contact with something from Derry, the memories kinda rush back unimpeded? That's the way I remember it. I could be wrong though. It's been years. Overall, I can definitely cut this miniseries some slack considering the other adaptations of King's work.
It's not that there's a misterious fog ereasing people's minds and they only remember when Derry comes in contact with them. Everybody that stays in town knows very well the cyclical horror that Derry is cursed to live. They just block that from their minds, as if nothing happens, leaving it to the kids to fight the evil on their own. When the boys from the Loser's Club got old, they blocked themselves the memories of the horror, putting a "fog" on all their childhood. They live they adult lifes with a deep pain lurking in their psyches, making them unable to have healthy lifes and relationships. And only when they are forced to come back and fight It, they remember ALL that happened to them, and they confront the suffering and traumas that they had to go through when as kids. It's then when the boys finally learn to become adults, and move on with their lifes.
Xavi R Gotcha. Couldn’t really remember. That also gives a fairly adequate reason for the flashbacks as ptsd sufferers really can’t control them either.
Give credit to the people in the background of the library, 'cause they have to keep a straight face while Tim Curry, in a clown costume, is making jokes and having the time of his life 😂
You watch the "Tim Curry: Laughing Legend" supercut if you haven't already, it shows off all the different layers of his iconic laugh from various (live-action) films and shows he's been in. :)
Reciting bird name does actually make sense. Concentration exercises, like list the names of birds from memory, actually scares off monsters in a lot of stories. A bit of mind over matter. By thinking of something more mundane, he’s reducing his stress levels and lessening how scared a situation is. And since Pennywise feeds off their fear, not being scared would weaken him. The mummy thing is still stupid
@@kevinmorrice Bill skarsgard pennywise is MUCH more scarier then Tim Curry pennywise..... honestly I don't get how Tim Curry pennywise was scary he was more goofy
@@dereknight861 Actually, he WAS helping! He's brilliant in that scene. In fact, I just did a YT search just to find that scene again b/c it's so funny!
And the mechanical way he was moving his left arm & then later when he was spinning that noisemaker & looking from side to side with that demented smile on his face was HILARIOUS!! And he made that poor guy yell at that librarian so she could hear him over all the noise, when for her, there WAS NO noise (& no blood on his face or on anyone else)! He was just yelling like a lunatic for no reason.
@Alfredo der Analtorpedo IT shows it's true form, but we as 3 dimensional beings can't perceive it as such. It would be like a 2 dimensional creature seeing a 3 dimensional shape. Or to be a bit more humble. It would be like us trying to see a 4th dimensional object. We wouldn't be able to understand it. There would be an object, but we wouldn't see it as it truly is. This is because IT is actually the dead lights which lives in the Macroverse. You can find out more by reading IT and The Dark Towers.
Hey, they said he was talented enough, but the college said he lacked... vision when painting humans. He was incredibly talented with scenery and architecture, but terrible with detailing humans. Really shows what kind of man he would became...
On a more serious note: I think the reason this movie was so scary in childhood, was because of the whole "only-the-children-see-IT", with the parents being totally blind to what's going on. It plays a lot on the terror of not being believed by your parents or trusted adults around you, being left to fend for yourself as a helpless child. I thought the child actors were fantastic at portraying the sheer disbelief in those scenes, as well as the complete and utter betrayal when their parents acted as if everything is fine, or even worse, threw abuse at them for being "liars" etc. That's why I loved IT as a kid. :)
The scary thing is I saw a static image of Pennywise once bob across the mirror. I was watching Avatar the Last Airbender while it happened. It had to be a hallucination but not sure what caused it. I then slept with my sisters upstairs that night.
What the fuck?! No I meant slept as in the same bed we didn't sex the fuck?! This was like when I was Elementary School did not even know about sex back then. Talk about assumptions.
R.I.P Harry Anderson, the man that played Adult Richie. Besides that, he was known for his hilarious role on the show Night Court, his cameos on Cheers, and his unique and incredibly funny comedy/magic shows. He will be missed.
Nick Bell he either already knew about it or found out about it on a later date because that very plot point is talked about in another one of his Stephen King reviews.
According to my dad, building a dam is a thing poor country kids used to do during the summers for fun. Mainly because it doesn't cost money and it's kinda cool
Hey don't knock it. Trying to build an effective damn to turn a stream into a swimming pool or boating pool is awesome. You learn to solve some practical problems, too.
Old NC is far better than New NC, especially when it came to the “It” review. Using his terrible skits and animation skills for an “It” review just slandered the good movies. New Pennywise is scary, not stupid. The CGI works very well in a movie about a spiritual shape shifter. The acting is very good. If he’s going to criticize a movie in a video, play the actual scene.
@@babywolfg In today’s times, comedy doesn’t exist. I think Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah, & Jimmy Kimmel are an absolute joke. When “Nostalgia Critic” started in 2007, it was a better time.
You'd be surprised at how many deny that existence in the book. I really like the TV version of IT more than the book. The whole sex scenes for no real reason is really weird. And for some reason people seem to forget it exists.
yeah... the scene of which you are speaking is one of those "why, mr. king? why did you think that was a good idea? was it the cocaine? i think it was the cocaine." moments.

It's funny I'm from Maine and that penny wise is always trying to bring me and my pals in the sewer. Plus we all build dams for fun. Stephen King nailed this one
Also, I'm ust gonna assume the giant spider was what the wife was scared of, cause seriously, fighting the clown in his clown form would have been better.
LOL! Reminds me of a great exchange I had with someone while watching The shawshank redemption. He's like "Everyone says the 50's was way more racist, how were their only like four black guys in this jail? I said "Well since their's only about eight black guys in Maine, I'd say that's pretty horrific that half of them are in jail"
Before I was born, a Black family moved into the neighborhood and my family was the only one who would even talk to them and be friendly. The neighbors stopped talking to our family because of that.
Now that you mention it, I could easily see them working Pennywise into the opening of the Goosebumps tv show. Probably somewhere between the billboard and the dog :P
3:50 Trust me, you don't want the ACTUAL origins of Pennywise told to you. Taking away all mystery to a horror movie monster is one of the worst things you can do (ahem, Alien: Covenant) and Pennywise's is utterly ridiculous. I think Mr. King was on 3 types of crack when he wrote it. Apparently he's like a cosmic entity that is at war with the turtle who created the universe, and who's true form is orange light that makes ya spooked I guess.
"Apparently he's like a cosmic entity that is at war with the turtle who created the universe, and who's true form is orange light that makes ya spooked I guess" bro what kinda of ganja does one smoke to come up with this shit ?
Tyrant Lizard King whoah whoah. So what the leatherhead knockoff in his maximum overdrive review was explaining the backstory minus tmnt was actually right?!
Tyrant Lizard King To be fair it's not actually orange light, but more accurately it's something our human minds can't comprehend, and would go insane if we tried to, so for the one scene that bill sees it he perceives it as some wiggly orange thing that glows, be he only saw it for like 2 seconds. Any longer and he would have gone insane.
I think one way you could make the balloons scary is if every time they pop, a child's scream can be heard like when the balloon popped next to Mike. It could imply that they scream because they contain the souls of the countless victims that were taken by Pennywise. I don't know if it work, but it could be worth a shot.
+AuroraKnux My first NC review was Care Bares In Wonderland. At first i thought he was just commenting and as i kept watching it i ended up laughing my ass off. I love Nostalgia Critic and I'm glad Channel Awesome is now on RUclips. Despite the copy right claims, because Blip was shit.
"Who would ever think balloons were scary?" Now that the new IT movie is coming out, during one of the first airings someone released a balloon in the movie theater and everyone started freaking out
I really don't understand why people are scared of clowns I saw this version of it when I was 4 or 5 and dood it still looks cheesy like I remember it. It's a lot funnier though Tim Curry is funny but yeah people fearing this movie and the new one is retarded
This movie has a special part in my heart. I have had a stutter since a really bad car accident as a kid. This movie was one of the first where i felt like i wasnt alone .
Wait I thought the point of the book was that the evil was in the people and maybe the IT was even the actual people of the town. That's one of the reasons why they don't react to the blood.............................
I didnt really get that from the book, but that would definitely would have helped me like it more when I was reading it. I dont know, I just didnt like the overexcessive detail, sex scenes, the orgy, the cosmic turtle, It being from space. It was just fucking weird for me.
FccRuinedAmerica andtheentireworld IT wasn’t from space though. IT was from outside our universe. And IT is an actual being. It provides prosperity to the town and the town ignores IT.
so, you arent 100% wrong, in derry things are a lot worse, and IT being their, sways them to be more mean and evil, IT also makes them not see things, like in the book a guy goes into a bar and slaughters half of it, but the other half doesnt even notice it until the cops show up. so like.... IT affects the town, but its not the town. if you want more info, let me know, I did take the time to read the book, and I can help clarify more things
A friend of mine who grew up in Maine refuses to see IT (either version) not because she's scared of clowns but because, and I quote, "I escaped that small town Maine bullshit for a reason. I don't need to be reminded of it."
On the DVD commentary track, the actors and actresses note that Tim Curry's characterization of Pennywise was so creepy and realistic that everyone avoided him during the filming. In the novel, Beverly makes love to all of "The Lucky Seven", but Tommy Lee Wallace omitted it from this mini-series because it was just something that didn't ring true to him. Jonathan Brandis and John Ritter both died in 2003. Brandis hanged himself, while Ritter suffered an unexpected, fatal aortic dissection. Richard Masur only appeared in three scenes. This mini-series came out in 1990, the same year that Bill Skarsgård was born. Skarsgård played Pennywise in It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019). In the novel, the group is not referred to as "The Lucky Seven". They call themselves "The Losers' Club". John Ritter was a huge Stephen King fan. In the novel, Eddie Kaspbrak lives with his wife Myra, not his mother. The American rock band Pennywise took its name from the character. Harry Anderson (Richie Tozier) died on April 16, 2018, the same week Bill Hader entered talks to play Richie Tozier in It Chapter Two (2019). Tim Curry is not in the last fifteen minutes of this mini-series. All 7 actors portraying the adult versions of "The Losers' Club" have either been nominated for or won either an Emmy or a Golden Globe. Tom Rogan has a much bigger part in the novel. He chases Beverly to Derry where Pennywise tries to get him to kill "The Lucky Seven". He eventually dies from shock after seeing the Deadlights.
I was expecting this movie to be scary, but I ended up laughing so much, lmao. The bird book thing fuckin killed me, along with the dramatic reactions, Pennywise appearing on the moon, that dog headed monster, that bully getting sucked into a pipe, one of the guys confessing he's still a virgin before facing Pennywise, the 3 seperate times someone dropped a glass out of shock, someone's last words to a dear friend being "spaghetti man", the poorly incorporated stop motion spider monster, etc. 10/10
"Oh! Fat kids are hot! Tell me about your boy tits!" OMFG, that had me ROLLING. This is my first episode, and I can't wait to see more! I hope you do an episode for the new movie, if you haven't yet.
5:22 Just out of curiosity, did EVERY bully in this time period try to murder other kids/hurt them with knives, or is it just something made up in movies?
yeah but like.. the clown killed Georgie, he didn't have to drive him crazy. The clown killed a bunch of other people, both in chapter 1 and 2, never having to drive none of them crazy- so it's not about that. And even if it was, why ? It's not like with ghosts, where ghosts can't kill you cause they're not well, physically present. This clown is 100% real. And he doesn't get stronger each time he kills someone either, or scares them, so just.. WHY
What the last two people said, plus - supposedly IT has a true form that humans can't comprehend that would, like a Lovecraftian horror, drive them to instant insanity if they saw it. So.....why doesn't it just reveal its true form to bring on that horror and insanity then eat them?
Despite plot holes, poor acting, and "so bad it's funny" moments I've noticed in adulthood, I still find IT to be one of Stephen King's best stories conceptually and psychologically. I'd like to share my thoughts on some of the criticisms in the video, but these are only my opinions and not intended as an attack on Nostalgia Critic. Feedback is welcome: 1. The balloons are not meant to be threats but represent Pennywise's presence and influence, his trademark like playing cards are for Joker. Batman dislikes seeing that card because he knows what it could mean, like these still traumatized adults react towards balloons. They emphasize the mental scars and paranoia instilled in the characters. I agree it is overused, but it's part of the film's tone, that sense of colorful innocence hiding a deeper personal dread that only those who have seen IT can relate to. 2. Pennywise toys with his victims because that's part of how IT feeds. Unlike some, whom he eats to gain strength, what provides the most savory flavor and power for IT is fear. In Jeepers Creepers, the monster similarly lets the protagonists get away several times because the chase makes their fear grow more ripe. Pennywise harassing the main kids is part of his plan to make them progressively more afraid and therefore delicious until he chooses to eat them at the best moment. What he didn't count on was them overcoming their fears and fighting back, since no one had likely challenged IT that way before. 3. What makes Pennywise scary isn't how he acts but what he's capable of. Like Kayako, he can be anywhere at anytime, almost inescapable. Like Freddy Krueger, he uses fears as weapons and disguises, making the thought of where he might emerge next maddening. Facing something that defies reality is terrifying. Like an Anglerfish in darkness, the clown is a mere lure of "dead lights" to attract prey. These kids, little fish, came to understand what that light means and swam away for years. Eventually however, they tired of running, united as a group, tore off the lure, and ripped that Anglerfish's heart out. 4. When Beth recalls how "something was wrong with Derry" and Billy mentions, "This whole town's IT in some way", they didn't mean literally that everyone was in on it. People seeing injustice or pain and choosing to ignore or do little about it is what was wrong. It's a society where people are too isolated and self interested to care much about each other, which is not a mindset a community can survive on. This made it easy for Pennywise to hide in plain sight. The adults were content ignoring the idea of evil or anything that interrupted their way of life. Even the cops, when investigating Georgie's murder, acted largely desensitized because that had become the town's "normal". They would all prefer to act as if such things never happened. From a social perspective, this is actually a clever commentary on how we often do the same when faced with tragedy or adversity. Why do many change the channel when the news discusses negative subjects or see a fight and walk away? Because that's human instinct, which Derry made a lifestyle out of embracing. What makes a community is when people see something bad or someone in need and choose to make an effort when no one else will (Calling 911, yelling for help, intervening yourself, etc), a foreign concept to the grown ups of Derry. The kids joined together because they only had each other to rely on, which ironically motivated them to eventually break the "Derry Curse" and love one another for who they were, in effect growing into better people.
+Keith Harris Right. It's a 1,000 pages and impossible to cram all of the symbolism in to a short movie. I liked the film okay. The part with the kids was great, but the adult actors seemed bored to hell.
+Keith Harris Responding in the same amiable spirit, no insult intended; 1: Fair enough, but, as you say, it's overused. 2: While he might feed that way it's still pretty foolish to keep playing that game when he was under threat. He might not have noticed they were banding together to fight him as kids when their doing it as adults he is clearly aware on them and knows that they are a threat. Under such circumstances continuing to wind them up to make the meal better is dangerous, better to have a less satisfying meal than risk dying. 3: Sure, but the performance in the film is tough to take seriously. He's just so goofy. You mentioned Freddy Krueger, which is a good example. The character was genuinely scary early on but then became a bit of a joke, with too many puns and too much quirky humour. With Pennywise (in the series at least) he starts out a bit too funny to take seriously. 4: Again this is not a fault in concept but rather in execution. The idea you're describing is a good one but the series did not explain it very well, making it look like it was "that guy didn't help so the whole town is evil." Basically apart from 2 the problem is not that the story and concepts are bad so much as the series (perhaps unsurprisingly, given time constraints) fails to portray these concepts sufficiently for those of us who haven't read to book to grasp them. That said I'm glad I read your comment, since the story is more interesting to me now that I do grasp it's point. I may pick up the book sometime. When I get through the hundred or so books I already have waiting...
GriffinPilgrim Very well thought out, and thanks. I enjoy discussing different viewpoints without it becoming a heated argument. I haven't read the book myself, but did read about it online over the years and gained a better understanding of the film's tactics and message. While I agree that the execution of many concepts from the book don't translate well, I still appreciate what it tried to do and how it managed to create a character embodying the "Don't judge by the cover" mindset rather than being scary simply because he's a clown. The first King movie I really got into was Pet Semetary, I own the book now. I'm currently reading Cell, which I hope they do a good job with in the upcoming 2016 film. Considering that it stars John Cusack and Samuel Jackson, who I thought both did great in 1408, I'm confident that they'll pull this next one off as long as the writing holds up. Fingers crossed :)
Keith Harris Well, when are Cusack and Jackson not good? Even in bad films they're good. On the It film it was by no means bad, just rather wonky in places. A longer series, something in the Game Of Thrones line, might have worked better, given time to explore the concepts, but they just didn't make things like that back then.
GriffinPilgrim I would love to see a 1-2 season TV series based on one of King's works, that would be awesome with the right story. I don't know about Game of Thrones' length though. From what I've heard, it's been dragging a little lately, partially due to the adaptable material from the books running out. I don't think the show is bad of course, just in my opinion overextending itself. It should find a solid climax to resolve everything soon before fans start feeling like it doesn't know how to end.
I just ordered the book on amazon, I heard some of it on audiobook and um it's literally shity ramblings of a coke fiend. I can't wait to read this bull shit.
@@seanshogun1957 Actually, Tim Curry played both the clown in Stephen King's It and Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which "I'M JUST A SWEET TRANSVESTITE" was a reference to.
It's pretty clear Doug doesn't like this movie all that much, but I wish he could have included mention of my favorite thing in this movie; "He thrusts his fists against the post, and still insists he sees the ghosts." (try saying that 5 times fast) I love this saying so much.
I think the reason that the balloons are "scary" is that they are supposed to represent the fact that pennywise can be anywhere and do whatever he wants, meaning that he can kill them, or anyone, whenever he wants
22:10"I looked into his deadlights."(WeirdBassDrum.mp3) "You looked into his deadlights???"(TaDaaa!.mp3) "I looked into his deadlights!"(Rooster.mp3) And there's me. On the floor. Dying of laughter.
Michelle Warns it's religion that relies on insitutions, places of worship and a hierarchy, as opposed to just making it your personal thing and worshipping as you see fit. BTW I'd thought King was an atheist too, but I read an interview where he said he chose to be a believer for the psychological comfort it brings, but that doesn't mean he doesn't notice all the bullshit that's going on with organized religions. That's why he likes picking on the priests for their hyporcisy so much.
Yeah its funny too because sometimes he'll write little nods to a different story when you're in the middle of another one. I don't remember which one it was now, but somewhere in passing (in one of those 'a friend of a friend said he saw' situations) there was "He always said he was driving through Derry and saw a clown with silver eyes.'
Does The Shining take place there? I know it doesn't when in the Overlook but does the start of it take place in Maine? I've only seen the Kubrick movie so I don't really know.
Super Ninja Koopa You know? That's a very good question I hadn't really thought about that. I think they were in Chicago (for some reason that crept into my mind, anyway). Its a good excuse to watch the Critics video about the Shining Miniseries' again :D

I know it sounds ridiculous, but there actually is a thing called globophobia, which is a fear of balloons. So this movie must be terrifying to those with it.

You watch the "Tim Curry: Laughing Legend" supercut if you haven't already, it shows off all the different layers of his iconic laugh from various (live-action) films and shows he's been in. :)
He has that effect
Tim Curry’s laugh was certainly not scary. Our Vice President has a far scarier laugh.
Yeah I agree completely with you
still dumb
I have a feeling that a _lot_ of stuff like that is easier to make sound sane when you have 400 pages than when you have two hours.

He was just yelling like a lunatic for no reason.
technically the "spider" isn't it's true form, but it's the closest thing to it's true form the human mind can comprehend, thus it appears as such
Yup
yeah but the miniseries doesn't address that properly enough, so it looks stupid.
And Lovecraft would be like: "Come at me! I made some incomprehensible things for a living!"
So the human mind can only comprehend cheesy stupid crap? That explains a lot of the cinematic remakes nowadays...
@Alfredo der Analtorpedo
IT shows it's true form, but we as 3 dimensional beings can't perceive it as such.
"Easier to get into than arts college"
Heh, try telling Hitler that.
I am dying of laughter here because that is the EXACT thought that popped in to my head when he said that!
Next thing you know Critic pulls out a gun and yells "Heil Hitlah!!" XD
Hey, they said he was talented enough, but the college said he lacked... vision when painting humans. He was incredibly talented with scenery and architecture, but terrible with detailing humans. Really shows what kind of man he would became...
+Darkest Night I am also bad at paiting humans......*gasp*, I am next Hitler@
+Glorious Slovan Untermensch
He wasn't "bad" per say, he just missed details. Like, super detailed clothing and hair, but bland face and skin.
Thought Thinker Well he is the nostalgia critic. It's in the name right?
The scary thing is I saw a static image of Pennywise once bob across the mirror. I was watching Avatar the Last Airbender while it happened. It had to be a hallucination but not sure what caused it. I then slept with my sisters upstairs that night.
Jay M Jesus Christ mate... that's a bit harsh. What did they do to deserve that?!

The new nostalgia critic is hilarious but, oh the old nostalgia critic will have a special place in my heart :)
I agree
I remember watching this and thinking "This NEW NC is so good!"

To be fair, back then King was actually doing a whole bunch of drugs, so that really isn't out of the question.
And that cosmic entity whom calls themselves Pennywise? It's a girl! Yah, betcha didn't see that one coming!
That's a really good and creepy idea.

5:22 Just out of curiosity, did EVERY bully in this time period try to murder other kids/hurt them with knives, or is it just something made up in movies?
APersonNamedBob bullies probably had knives but I doubt anyone used them
Oh it MUST have happened SOMEWHERE...but 99% of bullies aren't that psycho.
No. Most of the bullies in Stephen King novels are psychopathic and try to kill the main characters.
Mostly
There are 0.0000000000000000001% people back in those days that we’re crazy and psychopathic
He doesn’t kill them because he wants to drive them crazy first.
We do understand that.. but the question is why and also why does that make a difference for the protagonists but not for the ones he did kill...
yeah but like.. the clown killed Georgie, he didn't have to drive him crazy.
So.....why doesn't it just reveal its true form to bring on that horror and insanity then eat them?
that makes no sense. also, it's not scary.
close.. it feeds on fear
Feedback is welcome:
It should find a solid climax to resolve everything soon before fans start feeling like it doesn't know how to end.
anyone saw the new IT trailer? New edition of "Stephen King's Drinking Game" awaits us! Yaaaay! :D
IamARobot7 I will be playing it in the theatre. I don't even care that I'll be underage. By 3 months.
IamARobot7 I was thinking of the Nostalgia to review the new It that would be funny
Waha!!!!
Pennywise(1990): "They float, they always float".
27 years later,
Pennywise(2017): "Hold my beer".
Imao
23:17 oh no, the talking head turns into Tommy Wiseau...
Funny, when I first watched this review I thought the same
Oh, hi !
I was expecting the Climax to be that each balloon was actually the corpse of a child IT has murdered
Well in the books, balloons are basically the souls of IT victims.
ah but that would require Stephen King being a creative and original author who writes smart stories.
Sounds like a bad creepy pasta ending.
I just ordered the book on amazon, I heard some of it on audiobook and um it's literally shity ramblings of a coke fiend. I can't wait to read this bull shit.
Now *_that_* would've been an freaky and awesome way to end the film. ;D
I love how at 14:21 you have Tim Curry singing from Rocky Horror Picture Show.
15:59 This is still to this day one of my favorite moments in the early Nostalgia Critic videos.
Same
my favorite is when he says different ways of “he’s dead” in the room review after johnny kills himself
I'm your--
worst dream--
come true--
I'M JUST A SWEET TRANSVESTITE
BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT
Aggronn erotic nightmares
@@seanshogun1957 Actually, Tim Curry played both the clown in Stephen King's It and Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which "I'M JUST A SWEET TRANSVESTITE" was a reference to.
They called me mad, insane...Wendel!!!
Hilarious review and some great points made! Damn the adults really don't compare to the kids in this film at all.
That was the issue with this. The adult actors couldn't give a flying fuck and you see that in there performances.
Shatamx you mean couldn't?
HORROR ADDICTS oh hot damn wat does that mean for the sequel of the new one?
Yeah, they even made John Ritter look bad in this.
I think it means the bar is much lower than it was for the kids, but also that they don't have as much good material to work with.
It's pretty clear Doug doesn't like this movie all that much, but I wish he could have included mention of my favorite thing in this movie;
"He thrusts his fists against the post, and still insists he sees the ghosts." (try saying that 5 times fast)
I love this saying so much.
Beep Beep! =D
"It's great to be back in Dairy. Breathing in that Dairy-Air!"
My favorite line is Harry Anderson's response: No offense pal, it ain't workin'.
I think the reason that the balloons are "scary" is that they are supposed to represent the fact that pennywise can be anywhere and do whatever he wants, meaning that he can kill them, or anyone, whenever he wants
Derry is Pennywise's playground. Or, maybe a hunting ground is a better term.
Seth Green is attacked by a werewolf in this movie? Huh, irony.
Vilmundur Gunnarsson WHY IS THAT IRONIC?"
He played Oz in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a werewolf.
RM_Prime ooooh
Oh no scooby's gone rabid
That is not irony that is a coincidence.
I always lose it when Critic slams the book
Lechat especially the Sweet Transvestite part
AlbeitBeast ba-dum-crash
•Chickens8 • From Transylvaniaaaaaaaaaa!
“Excuse me sir!
Do you have Prince Albert in a can?
You do?!
Well ya better let the poor guy out!!
u-HA!! u-HA!! u-HA!!”
26:40- “They can either bring a machine gun or a slingshot, Rambo or Dennis the menace, you’re going down Mr. Wilson…” cracks me up 😂😂
This will always be one of my all time favorite Nostalgia Critic reviews, if not my favorite period.
I think monsters are scarier if theyre not explained.
extremelyhappysimmer I think your grammar is scarier when it's not explained.
I was lazy so I left out the '. Please forgive me DX
+extremelyhappysimmer oh well now your grammar isn't as scary now.
"Not explained" is different than "not described"
extremelyhappysimmer Worked with Heath Ledger.
"She's easier to get into than an art college." Sadly, I think Adolf would disagree.
Godly comment
விஷ்ணு கார்த்திக் and at one point he was a kid that wanted to go to art school
Wait wouldn’t he agree that she’s easier then?
😂
Lauren Sowards
XD
Bev really gets around doesn't she
I just got flashbacks to the book that i don't want to think about
22:10"I looked into his deadlights."(WeirdBassDrum.mp3)
"You looked into his deadlights???"(TaDaaa!.mp3)
"I looked into his deadlights!"(Rooster.mp3)
And there's me. On the floor. Dying of laughter.
Quicktime Events that’s honestly one of the best moments he’s ever had lmao
Same, especially with the faces he made
It...
And they can figure out the rest from there. *head slams on the desk*
Oh hey, it’s a beautiful Tim Curry out tonigh- *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA*
the bike scene at the end is actually really strong in the book
The only real reason the movie is remembered is because of Tim's performance
THAT IS SO UNTRUE!!!!!!!!!!! THERE IS ALSO... Um.... also...... aahhhhuuuummmmmmmm.........
Yah never mind.
I would like this but it already has 69
And he held out his bird book like a shield and said every bird he knew
The power of bird compels you
THE BIRD IS THE WORD!!!
RED CARDINAL!
DUCK!
I wonder if Doug knows that King actually considers himself a believer in God, only dislikes organized religion :D
SaturnineXTS that's pretty cool!
WTH? I always have thought of him as an atheist just like myself...
James.T .Adams You cant even get pass the Archers, how do you expect to beat us?
What's organized religion?
Michelle Warns it's religion that relies on insitutions, places of worship and a hierarchy, as opposed to just making it your personal thing and worshipping as you see fit.
BTW I'd thought King was an atheist too, but I read an interview where he said he chose to be a believer for the psychological comfort it brings, but that doesn't mean he doesn't notice all the bullshit that's going on with organized religions. That's why he likes picking on the priests for their hyporcisy so much.
I honestly love this movie, sure it’s super cringe but it’s hilarious it’s actually probably one of my favourite movies
Not cringe at all.
I love how he quotes I Love Lucy when he is "drunk".
I think he actually was drunk
He wasn’t drunk. He’s said in another video it was apple juice.
all of Stephen King's stories take place in Maine. so i guess Maine must be like Gravity Falls. all these supernatural events happening in one place
And a bubble or "dome" if you will to keep all that shit in.
+Perid0tStar Yeah true I think I'm gonna go rewatch that now. Who knows maybe it is in Chicago?
i lost it at the line "the lost member of the insane clown posse" that was golden
saaame
I lost it at "said no to his hoe on the go"
Dunno, "Just came back from a Black Mass at McDonald's" was pretty close.
boogie woogie woogie wu
“Bev, you need me. BEEEEEEEEEEEEEV!!!”
Yeh, great emoting, dude.
“BEEEEEEEEEEV!!!”
"BEEEEV!" *while flapping my hands*
23:16 - What Clown?
- I cannot tell you, it's confidential.
- Oh, come on. Why not?
- No I can't, anyway, how's your sex life?
I didn't hit her, I did nawt! Oh hi Mark
YOU ARE TEARING ME APART, TIM CURRY!
Oh hi werwolfy
-Can I have a dozen balloons please?
-Oh hi Pennywise I didn't know it was you. Here you go.
-That's me!
-That'll be 18 dollars.
-Here you go keep the change. Hi doggy.
-You're my favourite customer.
-Thanks a lot. Bye!
the room all over again!
BALLOONS!!!!! :O
I know it sounds ridiculous, but there actually is a thing called globophobia, which is a fear of balloons. So this movie must be terrifying to those with it.
Gracie J and clown phobia ofcourse
BALLOOOOOOOONS!!!!
They so scery
He literally has an orgasm Everytime anybody mentions float or balloon
"Oh no she dropped her beer beer"
*I'M DEAD*
You're DEAD DEAD*
Omg this is almost 10 years old. Felt like it was just recently...
23:17 a quote from Tommy wiseau's "the room" everybody
Nice approach
The awkward shower exchanged stares were much scarier to me.
Hey its a beautiful Tim curry tonight AHHHHHH
9:00 Fun fact: In the book they actually went out of their way to establish that Bev's father DOESN'T drink.
In this case especially with the Cinematic version, I'm not sure if that's better or worse
