I just got a vxl for my slash ultimate 4x4 and it is awesome! By the way it's not your middle diff that's making you flip it's the body if you take it of it can probably go full speed and put some wait in the front that will help also.
As an advice, I would recommend to change to lcg chassis, it REALLY changes the way it drives, important for me to build an ultimate basher! Hope you do it in a next video, love and peace ✌️
Thanks! I’m not sure if that’s an upgrade I’ll end up doing cause I have noticed that I get more run time with my Hcg Slash compared to my Lcg Slash especially in tall grass and in mud
Low center of gravity and high center of gravity low center of gravity basically means the chassis sits lower and then the mass point is lower and it wont flip over easely
Do you think you can put a 13-tooth PIN and a 4s battery? on my slash VXL 4X4 with the original ESC, original motor and original servo? only on sporadic occasions. Thank you
Hey hello Nolan one cuestion: Do you recommend metal pinion and steel spurg gear? or plastic spurg, which do you think is better? And what is your favorite brand?
Ideally I wanna keep a short course body on this machine…..unfortunately parachuting is a problem across the board when it comes to short course bodies…..as for the lcg chassis…..it’ll handle better but I prefer the increased ground clearance for bashing
@@RCKnockout you can keep the short course body on the LCG, and also there are several bodies that fit it, that don’t parachute. Proline has several, plus if you check with Schorched RC they have a complete dirt guard that is very reasonable for what it is that stops the air from getting up in the body. Also there are several bodies from Tamiya that are 1/7 or 1/8 short course bodies that fit.
Great vid! That machine is so fun to watch on 4s! I like the idea of gearing up but that ratio looked great for bashing haha im a complete noob tho I don’t have the experience for opinions lol
That big of a pinion might overheat the system though…..I’m not sure if I wanna put weight on the front cause that might negatively effect how it jumps
Altough is A 4S better than a 3s for bashing? I mean if its the 'ultimate BASHER build' Then wont 3s be better? (as someone who has literally never driven a 4s, i literally dont know the difference )
is this the 3mm or 5mm shaft on the motor. I need to replace my velineon 3500 cause my last bash I hit a sidewalk at a bad angle against the rear bulkhead which bent the motor shaft and broke the bulkhead. So I would like to fit a 5mm but wondering if anyone has done this and still found 32p gears for the pinion
@@RCKnockout you don’t get any extra ground clearance with the hcg chassis cause the front and rear bulkheads are still the same ride height I guess if rolling over makes bashing more fun than go for it. And it will SIGNIFICANTLY reduce parachuting but gotta be decent sized cut outs
@@tylerbates8198 you’re kinda right….you “do” and “don’t” gain clearance…..I’ve actually tested this side by side with my Slash 4x4 Vxl HCG and my Slash 4x4 Ultimate LCG…..using the exact same battery…..I’ve gained as much as 5 minutes more run time out of the HCG Slash when going over very rough terrain or through tall grass or mud…..just cause less of the chassis is dragging on the ground
Yes, I have a 4s 2wd slash and if I am doing speed runs the wheels rubbing on the body really sound like gears grinding.
That’s unfortunate…..you might need to go belted

Nice man! It’s partially the body…..it’s also the center diff…..I can’t get to full speed even with the body off
the slash is 1 of the best rc cars ever its the car that i started my youtube with
Yeah it’s a great machine to start off with! 👍😉
What gear ratio your running? Asking for my lcg traxxas slash 4x4 street/drag bash car build 😎
I think I was running 13/54 but I’m not for sure….this video was a while ago
What motor and esc you running in this vid. I want to go for us in mind, but I don’t know exactly what to buy.
Castle Copperhead 10 Esc with 3200kv (1412) Castle Motor

Is there a LCG for 4x4 Slash?
@@phillybrc yeah….the platinum and ultimate models come with it stock….you could swap it onto a hcg Slash 4x4 too though
Pro-Line Bash Armor would fit the Ultimate Basher theme. Maybe the Monster Fusion Bash Armor with some 2.8 Trenchers, might be worth a look.
I don’t wanna go up to 2.8 tires….liked to keep it 2.2 short course sized
Yeah I noticed the clipless conversion kit really destroys the slash bodies... Had to switch back to the clips. Sweet ride yo.
Thanks bro! Yeah I had to swap out the RPM body mount system cause it couldn’t hold the body on during hard impacts
Do you think you can put a 13-tooth PIN and a 4s battery?

No I don’t think the stock esc will allow more than a 3s battery

1:44 brooo you got me thinking im watching the last video (you said the same thing there too🤣)
I must have repeated myself lol 😂
What is better senserd or sensor less
Depends on what you’re doing….Sensored is much better for slow controllability….
@@RCKnockout I am more into speed
@@dhb5032 Sensorless is probably best then

I would follow the advice above about the lcg chassis but also a different body that doesn’t make that thing parachute

I have 4s too in the Slash, with Wheely Bar from the Arrma Senton. The Front dumper with Soft Attitude and Rear Hard 😂

@@RCKnockoutWhich is better to start with? Traxxas Rustler 4x4 vxl or Traxxas Slash 4x4 Ultimate?

Nice video! Slash will always parachute at a high speed, maybe a completely different body?
Thanks! Ideally I wanna stay with a short course style body though
maybe try venting the body.
@@thibster5590 yeah I could try that out…..not sure how much that would help though

Thanks man! Yeah it was a ton of fun! It seems like the gearing is pretty good for bashing
Everyone's opinion matters m8 ;)
Looks like any short course truck when you’re going fast. The body catches to much air. Need vents or a new body.
Yeah the venting could help but it still probably would catch flight….just the nature of short course bodies
You probably should put some weight on the front of that and try a 25 pinion
That big of a pinion might overheat the system though…..I’m not sure if I wanna put weight on the front cause that might negatively effect how it jumps
center diff in a slash?
Yep!
Altough is A 4S better than a 3s for bashing? I mean if its the 'ultimate BASHER build' Then wont 3s be better? (as someone who has literally never driven a 4s, i literally dont know the difference )
4s means more power….more power means bigger jumps and bigger crash’s so I’d say it’s pushing the rc more than a 3s battery would

We call that Chinesium metal
Yeah probably lol 😂
gear it up
Heck yeah!
Get a wheelie bar
Lcg chassis but more importantly cut out some holes for the air to escape out from under the body. Prevent the parachuting 🪂
