This never be a connie killer. Connie have 4 x size 5 guns and size 3 shield and this is huuuuge advantage. But depending on speed and nabuverbility, can become a Spirit/ Cutlass/ freelancer killer.
Spirit/Cutlass/Freelancer series still absolutely have things over the Zeus MkII's. It's not a straight upgrade from any of them. Look into the details of each that they compete with and it's clear that the Zeus certainly has some things that are superior, but so do the Spirit/Cutlass/Freelancer series ships. The MR for example competes directly with the Cutlass Blue. Yes, the MR has S4 pilot weaponry and an extra S3 remote turret over the Cutty Blue, as well as the EMP. But the Cutty Blue has significantly more cryopods for bounties. Zeus MR has 2x, while the Cutlass Blue has 12x. This will absolutely affect whether you can even take on larger bounty missions, as you will soon need proof of kill or need to capture them alive. Cutlass series in general will hands down out maneuver the Zeus and all have 8x S3 and 16x S2 missiles, but the real advantage over the Zeus is the main engines being VTOL. If you know anything about SC, you'll know how valuable it will be to have dedicated VTOL, and the Cutlass has the best in its class. Even better than the Spirit. The Zeus has no VTOL.
The CL competes directly with the Freelancer MAX, which is close to the same cargo capacity. Where the MAX wins is speed. Unladen, the MAX is supposed to be the fastest in its class and laden it is supposed to be just slower than the base Freelancer. The MAX will again, out maneuver the Zeus, and having a turret on top compared to the belly will make defending you while landed possible. Something the Zeus CL just can't do.
I think you get the point. It's not as simple as "the Zeus is better". They have they're advantages, but they most certainly have their flaws. For starters, their cross-sections are huge. For the category that they fit within, they have the largest cross-section. Because of this, they will not handle particularly well when compared to the Spirit/Cutlass/Freelancer series. They all lack VTOL, which will definitely hinder them in atmo when those changes come back into play. They lack also missiles and the options that provides. Each ship they compete directly with has several things that are done better than each respective Zeus.
@TheRealMinotaur667 Zeus' have dual s4 missile racks, same size as the Cutlass. Cutlass has an extra 4 racks. The cutlass black and steel come stock with 8x s2 and 8x s3 missiles loaded. The blue has 24x s2 missiles loaded. All 3 an equip the same loadout of missiles if desired. Not sure why you think the Zeus is not going to be maneuverable though. Typically the less firepower or less shielded ship has more maneuverability in SC. The cutlass is quite a bit more maneuverable than the Max and has 1/3 the shields with same firepower. Since both the CL and MR have same shielding as the Max, and the max has more firepower I would expect the Zeus to handle better than the Max, but worse than the cutlass, or at least be faster. VTOL is likely only going to benefit hover. While in motion at combat speeds I doubt VTOL will provide any benefits. There are always weird balance decisions by CIG though, especially at launch compared to 2nd patch after launch where the ships get nerfed. Most confusing is that the bounty hunter version of the Zeus has less shields than the exploration ship. Just dumb. Give the MR the 4th shield and ES should match CL. I am melting my Inferno for a CL though and 3 shields should be fine for hauling.
I have a 400i and as much as I enjoy it, I feel I know better now what I want. So in melting it, I will go for the Mk2 ES as I want to persue Exploration as a primary career path and with the spare change from the 400i I will pick up an Ursa Medivac to park in the rear of the ES and probably treat myself to some fancy armour also, lol. The ES looks like a very attractive package that is more compact and economical than a 400i as well as having a larger radar too. The ES also looks to tick all the boxes for me as a daily driver anyway👍
400i is good to get out of and Zeus Mk2 ES is a good pickup. Not clean solution as you cannot CCU downwards but still good moves. Nursa another good pickup. 400i is a tragedy because there is no 425a and 415p - 400i is the lame duck option like the 300i is for the 300 series but there is no variants to choose instead.
I don't think you can get a Ursa Medivac in the back of a Zeus- the doors are too narrow by design. The ship you'll probably like is a the 600i when it gets its rework.
@@honey-fe6pj That would be something to consider for sure... if the Ursa can fit in the Zeus, lol, something we have yet to find out. If it doesn't, I'll just pick up the Pisces Rescue as a seperate ship because I'm always buying it in game anway. I think the rework of the 600i looks fantastic, but it's just not for me. I mostly solo and intend to use the 1x free NPC crew we will all get with the account to help suppliment duties on ship. I prefer smaller, more manageable ships for this reason. Edit - I just checked and the Ursa just barely fits into the Freelancer MAX, which appears to be much wider in the rear then the Zeus... so I think it's safe to say that you are correct, it won't fit. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, much appreciate o7
@@RedJay It's a pity about the 400i. While it appears to fail on paper, I don't suffer the issues most complain about it. But I find my self using it all the time, so it isn't really a problem for me. But I know what I want in terms of usability and utility and the Zeus ES seems to fit my intended requirements exactly - though the proof will be in the pudding. However, as mentioned by another commenter here, I have to actually find out if the Ursa fits in it or not, lol.
My prose for keeping the 400 are its big shield's thick hull and hard-hitting front cannons. It's still maneuvers better than most ships its size although back in three nineteen it was a beast. I think what I will do is Is melt my C1 and go with a Zeus
Pretty sure I'll CCU my Spirit to the ES. For doing actual cargo I have a Taurus, and the ES looks great as a general daily driver for doing FPS stuff -- get to bunkers, shoot 'em up, and 32 SCU is plenty of cargo space for the loot. And that's not even mentioning the future exploration loop whenever that arrives.
Taurus is hard to beat as a dedicated hauler that can also handle vehicles well with great VTOL for its size. Zeus Mk2 ES will certainly be a great daily driver, many are thinking that way about it. Exploration is currently player run (going places that are still WIP comes to mind on PTU...) but yes when its finally in Exploration capable ships with nice scanners/radar and longer range suited crew services will truly come into their own.
I'm trying to decide between an Andromeda + Zeus CL or Taurus + Zeus ES combo. I like the Connie, but damn, that cargo elevator is buggy to hell and back.
I think they mentioned that the emp on the MR can be activated from the pilot seat. So you can use it solo but it will shine more eith both turrets maned.
Nicely done video. Seeing how the Montreal team is delivering this masterpiece, we can only hope Manchester will be sending them the Polaris for a quality check before release.
Turbulent is some of the best damn people making the Verse a better place. I sure do hope they get involved one way or another in every ship that rolls out.
@@RedJayI’d like to not forget the ship team on the whole. Really does irk me slightly when Montreal gets a lot of the credit for new stuff. The concept artist I believe is the same as many previous ships. The Montreal team has the luxury of improving on all the previous work. All the ground work, trial and error, improved pipelines, etc. was done by the founding teams. Additionally, there is a lot of recency bias with these ships. That said I’m not knocking the ship or the team, love it, but let’s not forget this work, including the improvements in ship designs is rooted in previous iteration. CIG as a whole is improving.
Thank you so much! With cit con happening I was looking for what happened to the MR (pledged it, went to buyback since...) Turns out this random, 4 week old video has more info than ANY of the current wave of Zeus reviews on the MR! Thank you very much, this is an easy like, comment and sub! ;-)
Appreciate it! I have to always consider how much to roll in for variants which get pushed back a bit, but in case of MR it was a must to cover as we knew enough about it and it may impact purchase decisions of other variants by the Community.
@@RedJay Watched the vid now, very acute! - Personally I'd almost call the MR a "flavored daily driver" for a more advanced SC-player. It does a bunch of stuff you can combine in different ways: 1. It's sooooo cool looking... That's actually HUGE for a daily driver... Think of the POS 400i and how many people bought it, even though it's objectively inferior to contemporaries. 2. Has enough cargo space, pod space AND guns/suits aboard to be flexible. From bunker mission to pirating PVP and anything in between... 3. I'd expect it to be more maneuverable than, say, Connie, so the smaller guns might not be THAT bad, sadly could not try the Zeus yet... But a daily driver being zippy is also a big plus... Banging into and out of Hangars quickly and jumping around! I'm looking forward to the MR a LOT more than the current variants! Most veterans already have ships that do all the stuff the current set of 2 Zeus does, but better... The MR, though! - That I would struggle to melt for store credit! You decided yet on your ships in that size category?
I'm a little confused why you are comparing the Zeus to the Connies. The Zeus is a full size category smaller than the Constellation and directly competes with the Cutlass, C1/A1 and Freelancer ships with the freelancer max and the Zeus CL being in direct competition. Also while there is a lot of speculation about the MR, the last thing I can find that CIG said about it was that they are aiming for all of the seats to be able of using both the QED and the EMP. Whether or not we think CIG will stick with that, I think it's a bit odd that everyone is just assuming it will work like the Scorpius.
This ship is not direct comparasion with the Cutty or Spirit, things like 40 USD more and has extra crew. I agree its not the same as the Connies but something more in between like the 400i, Freelancer max kinda range.
@@koopakinkreet Cuty has a crew of 1-3, spirit is 1-2, zeus is 1-3...seems pretty comparable. Also price point is a terrible comparison, lots of ships in similar price points have wildly different roles are are not comparable at all.
I had a Freelancer DUR, the ES was 10 bucks more so it was a no brainer upgrade. Although I do like the Freelancer series of ships. I also bought a CL.
@@RedJaythere is no money in the Freelancers, they are not „sexy“, so I don’t see a rework anytime soon, if ever. It’s better to focus on what we have know or at least in the near future.
I have been playing the Hauling loop recently (as opposed to trading) and it has highlighted something very important that needs consideration when buying new ships for cargo i.e. Knowing a ships stated maximum cargo capacity is not always enough. For example, I own an MSR (114scu) as well as a C1 (64scu) & RAFT (96scu) and, on paper, the MSR is the superior cargo ship. The problem is that most hauling jobs will give you 8scu crates for 80scu-120scu jobs and the MSR will only fit eight 8scu crates so carries no more than a C1 and it wont carry 32scu crates at all. Similarly, the Freelancer Max with a maximum of 120scu also only fits 8x8scu for 64scu. The C1 will always carry up to 64scu no matter what sizes the crates come in and the RAFT with a max capacity of 96, smaller than the MSR & Freelancer Max will always carry 96scu whether they are in 8, 16 or 32 or a mixture of small crates. Getting back on subject, the Zeus CL will always manage 64scu in 8, 16 or 32scu crates or smaller but if the contract does not include any crates smaller than 8scu then the CL will only carry 64scu, half it stated maximum. Obviously if you are buying your own cargo for trading then you can buy exactly the right sized crates to use your full capacity but even then, if you are loading by hand it is often really tricky and time consuming to get all that extra cargo in neatly. I really love the look of the Zeus CL but if I am going to melt one of my ships to pay for the CL then it is most likely to be the MSR even though it is my largest freighter. TLDR: Always look at the optimal arrangement of the cargo in the ship you are looking to buy and how easy that would be to put in, especially when you ar expected to put a later of 2 or 4scu crates on top of 8/16/32scu crates where you cannot see what you are doing and also look at how many 8scu crates it will carry
Well put! Exactly when crate sizing of SCU is not choice of the shipper like during a hauling contract this is a major consideration in choosing the ship. RAFT is one of the ships I wished had a variant as I love its style, interior, and layout generally but hauling/fastpickup-dropoff gearing niches it to me
@@QuotidianStupidity it is nothing to do with outdated designs as the Zeus will also have this issue. Let me explain with a simplified example. Imagine your cargo bay is tall enough for 3 1scu boxes to fit and is 2 boxes wide and 4 boxes deep then that is a total volume of 3x2x4 which is 24scu. If I then ask you to move 24scu for me and give you three 8scu crates, each of those crates are 2x2x2. You will load in the first 2 crates and the realise that even though you have spare space at the top, it is only tall enough for 1scu or 2scu or 4scu boxes (as they are 1scu tall) but your last crate is two bixes tall so you cannot put the third crate in and can only carry 16scu per trip.
One thing to mention ist that the CL is NOT a competitor to the Taurus. The Taurus offers more cargo, bigger weapons, heavier shields, costs around 50$ more and a lot more. So the Taurus is not the competition of this ship. The real competitors of the CL are the C1 Spirit, Freelancer MAX and also the Cutlass Black (Also pricewise).
C1 has a nice tractor beam rail system to help with taking gear off of a zero-g wreck easier, but thats its only real unique selling feature over the CL.
@@RedJay The CL also comes with a tractor beam, so thats not a selling point for the CL ^^ ya sure its on a rail and you can pick things up that are above the ship in zero g but committing like 60SCU of cargo space for that feature... I don't know man :D C1 was already obsolete as it launched. Ya for sure its a decent loaner until the ZEUS comes. But after that, in my eyes, its a no brainer to exchange it for a ZEUS :D
I own the ES but the CL makes a lot of sense. You lose the living area and a couch when going to the ML which mean nothing, but you gain 4x cargo which realy does. Sure you have less shields and scanner but with the way CIG is creating star systems how much exploration can we expect.
shields, scanner, and fuel seem to be the big selling features of ES and especially in short term as you pointed out its hard to beat CL running so much more SCU of cargo.
Right size cargo on the CL depends on what kinds of boxes it can fit. If the 128SCU can be split among 16 boxes of each 8 SCU in size, then it is compatible with loads of hauling missions. Then comes the quantum drive, the fuel storage size and the running costs. While I am looking forward to the CL, I do think that CIG need to make sure the CL-variant has downsides that keep competitors viable.
I saw a walk through of the CL and it still has 3 suit lockers. Since exploration isn't quite there yet, and I don't see any great advantages, I'll probably switch my ES for a CL when they come out.
There is one important thing to consider with the freight variant here. Or well it was don't know if they have changed it, but the freelancer max is that largest ship that can go through small jump points. And this is longer shorter and has the same width. If this cant go through small jump gates, I would either go Freelancer max or taurus. I don't know if the jump point sizes has changed, though if I remember correctly the jump point between Stanton and terra, is small. Meaning with a ship larger then freelancer, you have to go Stanton-pyro-Nyx-magnus-terra. Meaning you probably save 1-3 hours with a freelancer with the travel speeds we have today, Along with not having to go through 2 lawless systems that will probably be the most dangerous rute the coming 10-20 years.
@@norske_ow3440 If so that's new, before it was based on size. where freelancer where the largest size going through small jump points, Connie had to take mediums though. and that where the selling point of the freelancer, as at that time it where almost the same price as the constellation taurus, and the taurus had twice the loading capacity. As I said it can have been changed and will probably be changed several times again before we get anything looking close to a game.
I"m pretty sure its a 1-3 crew unless they changed it from when I last read it, so you wont need to worry about engineering too much unless you are damaged
...and for wear and tear issues on the modules - but if you keep up with them it should be ok outside of damage from attack, environmental, or hitting something as you mentioned.
True you will have your NPC Crew and AI Blades, they will be here for 4.0, in fact you''ll be a able to sleep in while your NPC Crew take the helm, its going to be awesome. I agree with you, Engineering won't be an issue, quite think CIG will pull it eventually
I have the 400i, which I love, so no Zeus Essential for me. I have the Spirit C1 and Constellation Taurus, so I can cover cargo shipments below and above the Zeus Clipper - so no to that model also. But I love the design and wanted one. The Zeus Marque is outside my normal range of activity with bounty hunting and combat focused. With friends however, I feel I can do the support behind them and enjoy what the ship offers. And can still carry some courier boxes or a small vehicle and handle investigation and similar missions, also. That's where I went.
All great ships in your lineup. Zeus Mk2 MR certainly will be a solid support vessel. Dampener and EMP with so much shields is a great fleet support vessel.
@@RedJay totally. I’m very critical of having a good forward and down view in my ships and as much as the lil windows in the msr helps, the CL is going to be a dream to fly I think. Now my galaxy maybe not as much but I don’t care 😂
Imo, the es cargo space looks like it can hold a lot more than 32 if you aren’t that worried about the grid. For me the ES is basically a bigger avenger titan/nomad. “Heavy starter ship” in a way. Curious to see how that changes when Terra comes. Side note: I’m sure they won’t, but it would be really nice if the pilot could slave the remote turret to the main guns. The placement of it seems like it won’t be useful enough to have a “gunner” instead of an escort
More intensive ship is on having at least two players on board less heavy starter ship it will feel. I get what you mean though, and on the escort or not question it depends on how manuverable the ship is - even if it is just over tuned for atmo that will give the ship a chance in most situations to get away or even light up some of the gun/missile heavy bricks in SC
For most backers I believe the CL will be the better option, unless you enjoy the rail mounted two position remote tractor beam. It is a helpful tool when removing cargo from a wreck in space instead of havinng to turn the whole ship to be lined up with direction of desired cargo.
The MR has two remote turrets an EMP/Quantum dampener and only three seats. Unless one of the seats operates both turrets I think your wrong about the pilot controlling the EMP/Quantum dampener.
MR is the elephant in the room of the entire series of ships, even though its not slated to rollout in 3.24.2 it is coming out and will be a unique fleet support ship/bounty hunting vessel. I added the decent size section just covering MR during editing and glad I did as like you I find it to be an exciting ship.
The problem with a small 3 man hauling ship is splitting the profit 3 ways, this is only good for when trading in high value goods, not for hauling or delivery missions. I have the MR but if the pilot cannot engage the Damper and EMP it will be a melt!
I initially got the MR because I wanted a troop deployment shuttle of medium size for ground FPS missions. I hope the "Armory" delivers on that promise and we can roll around as 2-5 people to a bunker mission that by then is scaled to be challenging and worth the time of so many people and kick some butt. I also have a C1 that I absolutely adore (mostly for looks and the easy internal layout) but appears to be severally underpowered compared to the Zeus MK2 hauler variant. I hope the C1 gets some serious maneuverability, propulsion and top speed buffs to have a valuable niche for itself next to the SCU monster that the new Zeus will be.
CIG has a philosophy that a ship with space for a few of something in a hallway will not be as robust in that as a whole dedicated room for that service and bigger room will of course do it even better then a small room. The fact MR has a dedicated armory and CIG is looking for more time to get the ship right is a good sign for it to have plenty of space for weaponry and suits. On the CL it's going to be hard to beat thanks to its well placed remote tractor beam, even the C1 running same capability has the large rail system back and forth more suited to looting wrecks then planetside rapid loading/unloading of bulk cargo like the CL. But of course will need to test the ship when it comes out to be certain. Yes Zeus Mk2's are niche monsters and as long as we all are ok with niching down on that size of ship they are great.
Would it not be more practical to have a proper drop ship that can carry a Nursa? Assuming everyone in your party can turn up with at least a pistol, they will be able to loot new armour and weapons on the fly?
Echoing what I said on a different discussion, I believe it will get Scorpius Antares one way or another to prevent a single player being able to do it all. Hope I'm wrong for solo players, but would advise those holding Zues Mk2 MR CCUs to leave them unapplied just in case it does not break the way they intend. Again, hope I am wrong on this one.
@@RedJay Well the Antares came out before Master Modes and CIG has stated they want the QD/QED/EMP to have its own master mode in the future too. So having the pilot using it would limit them to only using the QD or EMP so maybe that's *something* that may debut on the MR
@@RedJay For the MR there is also the consideration that 2x of the crew will be using turrets, they will also need to do various engineering tasks. So as Zaktii says, with MM it might now be viable to go back to pilot also being able to trigger them. Though they have seen player count drop to 1/4 of what it was pre MM, so it might not be this way forever
Im a solo player. I don't enjoy playing with other people. Ill be buying the CL and the ES. As far as multi-crew ships go. Why not implement an AI crew that we can hire to man the seats that need to be manned? Maybe that's already planned, I'm not sure.
There are computer blades planned which ships can use remote turrets without additional crew but will take up space so you cannot use other computer intensive upgrades instead. The other option is AI crew when that finally gets in which can work the way you describe. Both are great options and hope to see them soon.
@@RedJay That's good news! I'm genuinely happy to hear that. I've just always been a loner and prefer that in everything I do lol. I've been hearing people talk about being screwed on using multi crew ships if you play solo, but that just doesn't make sense to me. It would be a ridiculous oversight to lock out solos on some of the best ships in the game. Anyhow, thanks for the info man, I appreciate it!
I m solo player too. I made milions in GTA Online from busseneses solo and they are made for group play. But Star Citizen. You just naturaly bond together with other players, fly big ships together as one happy crew united against one common enemy....bugs
cant wait for the ES to be playable, it will be the first real multicrew ship ill have. gonna have lots of fun coming up! not sure if your getting on but if you wanted to do a real review of one you have access to mine
Appreciate it Toast! I currently have an MR and not sure which I would get as a loaner. Probably will pickup CL as a CCU bridge depending on pricing. Will be a big changeup for you coming from MSR to a brand new ship!
Re: Are the EMP and quantum dampener pilot-controlled? Zeus Q&A (Comm Link, 1 year ago): "We are aiming to allow any seat to control the EMP and quantum dampener, though if this causes issues, we’ll restrict it to a subset. On the MR Security variant, the gunner and co-pilot will both have control of one of the remote turrets."
I don't think the CL competes against the Taurus at all. There's a 40ish scu cargo difference, more firepower, and later, possibly a deeper component range. After watching the latest ISC, it's pretty clear how engineering will impact ship choices. To me, the CL is great for the solo player while the Taurus CAN be ran solo, it can grow into a multi-crew vessel. So I still look at it as a big brother to the CL. Not a straight line competitor as the Taurus beats out the CL in every way save the subjective design language used. I actually skipped the CL and chose the Max as my middle-of-the-road vessel between smaller and larger contracts.
Lancer Max is a solid ship in that class. I have to admit hauling and mining are my two limited experience fields in SC, and I have to rely on my Org/Combat Logistics brain thinking through how useful this would be to an Org Outpost and what use cases I could see for it. I think the CL will have less operating costs and repair bills along with not suffer from the Taurus blind spot to fast movers on its belly... if it can manuver better than a Taurus - but in their actual roles I agree Taurus is a better choice for many.
@@RedJay Something I like about the MAX is how it appears to be the only ship in the medium sized hauler class that can carry an URSA. It doesn't look like there's space to haul one in the CL. For this reason, the MAX remains my favorite in the class.
I may be wrong , but the videos of the tractor arm LOOKS like it has the mech's cargo movement to it without a visible hologram....I'm torn , would be great but insults everyone who bought the "essential" mech....
Good point, and honestly even as an ATLS buyer as well... I hope ship tractor beams do get that capability. Would finally quell the storm innthe Community and get people back to testing.
The cargo height is too low for an Ursa medical. Wish they made a smaller medical vehicle. I think an explorer ship is too small without a medical ability … either built in which this ship would be OP with that or the ability to store an Ursa medical. Exploring with out access to medical is risky.
It truly is risky venturing off to deep space and having reasons to leave the ship without medical. I'll test out Zeus MR capability to fit a Nursa as soon as its in PTU... who knows might get lucky with forcing down with that big Ursa suspension on the huge wheels... or breaking off the wheels then tractor beaming it in. Again I'll test it and see how it goes.
@@RedJay it would be nice if we had a cargo container that was a low tier medical bed and workstation but that will never happen. Maybe an open air medical cyclone ?
yeah.. i was considering ccu to get it, but i dont know anymore... ive an odyssey, and it is too big to fit in the hangar. Anyway it should be better a smaller industrial one.
Good planning to think out fleet interoperability. Yes it won't fit in Ody hangar unfortunately. There are a few indy and utility options that would fit in Ody's hangar depending on what you are looking for. Also don't forget Ody has a decent size cargo/ground vehicle area connected to the hangar, so some indy work can be done with ground vehicle planet/moonside
you can form an 8 slice pizza pie with these babies! Too bad it cant fit an Ursa. :( I am holing on to my MSR. Especially since its really good and just got approved for an S3 shield. Cargo bay is real good.
It is a shame it can't run an Ursa in there - especially post Nursa. MSR has a nice ramped vehicle friendly cargo bay Nursa and more can fit in there yes.
CIG said they would allow the pilot to operate the QED and EMP if it did not create any issues. That is wiggle room to me to not allow it if needed, i.e. too strong during internal testing etc. I recommend to those with MR CCUs to leave it unapplied even if you get a loaner soon for another Zeus variant until we can test it in-game.
Is the maneuverability of the MR already known? The es and the cl are both not capable in fighting as they are maneuvering not fast enough. So my hope is that the mr will have better performance in that regard
MR is a wildcard as it may be tuned better for manuverability and also have to consider its EMP knocking out little faster movers long enough to pop them with missiles.
I believe it will get Scorpius Antares one way or another to prevent a single player being able to do it all. Hope I'm wrong for solo players, but would advise those holding Zues Mk2 MR CCUs to leave them unapplied just in case it does not break the way they intend. Yes, they are smaller Connies in scale but niche differently due to lack of a 4th and a few services for crew differences... but always be mindful of the Connie pass they will eventually get yet again.
They did mention that the support seats are for the scanner array on the ES, and the tractor beam on the CL. So it's likely the MR support seats handle the EMP & Dampener also. CIG is set to push multicrew more now than ever. @RedJay
@@RedJay absolutely they are not a jack of all trades like the Connie but they are the most feature rich in their class. I think they are saying if it turns out to be too op they nerf by moving the qd emp control around lol The armour its supposed have is appealing. I'm probably going to ccu to it after the release, if it's terrible or gets nerfed I'm probably going to bounce up to a Connie.
Needs to be balanced due to the EMP and QED. MR is going to be strong fleet support vessel for small gangs flying around and making it too hard to pop moves it from tanky to impossible (this is all my guess though)
I'm glad they are quality ships, but I just really dislike the way they look. And to me Look > Function. I can't get passed over their simple triangle shape, which is strange because I quite like the Polaris.
Fair, ship has to have lines you appreicate. RSI's latest styling is very angular maybe that makes you less appreciative of it? Also checkout the Solstice paintnas it draws attention to details and away from overall look. May be an option for you.
@@RedJay I'm more of a MISC fan. Rounded shapes and retro futuristic look. However the Polaris is an exception. Maybe because the angular shapes work better for me on larger ships. i almost got the Odyssey instead of Polaris, but it ended up too fat, and I want speed, even in large ships.
As a CCU holder of a Railen I too want to see it happen and thought with the Syulen launch like many we would see Railen rolled out after. The honest answer is I am not sure when, but there are hidden ships in the pipeline and Railen would be a no brainer to print money selling.
At some point you have enough workload for 2 players or in the future 1 player and 2 AI crew. Solo player cannot go fix something, put a fire out, handle the remote turrets of either type and still fly the ship. Engineering is the crossover point to me - even if blades come in for the remote weapon turret.
@@RedJay I think it's important that if there are two players in a spaceship that one of them doesn't get bored and cig is responsible for creating good gameplay for this second person
The name status was on a slide but I'm in the camp it just mean this is the status of the WIP Zeus series for the presentation, just a title on the slide. Zeus Mk2 ST absolutely existed in pictures and then was pulled. It has unique geometry on the wings many debate is it for better atmo stability for luxury or just indicating racing variant. I hope its a luxury variant for daily driving.
That's why I am reminding folks MR may have an issue operating QD and/or EMP from pilot seat no matter what CIG promised to attempt to do and encouraging MR CCU holders to leave it unapplied until after ship hits testing. Always a good ifeanto play with all the info when talking CCU game.
Back when the Zues Es was first announced I purposely upgraded to a Spirit C1 just so I could upgrade it later to an Zues MARK (not m k ) 2 ES, the spirit has always been a ccu placeholder. MARK 2 not M K 2, that was driving me up a wall.
I'm waiting for the AI server blades that will make turrets automatic defensive weapons on my cargo haulers and sometime offensive on my medium and heavy fighters. I plan to keep a cargo ship at each major location, instead fly a smaller craft versus flying a large ship around. The CL does have storage for an extra suit... it's any empty bunk. ;-D
Good strategy on cargo vessels pre-staging. Blades would take a ton of pressure off ships with remote turrets to have big crews for size of craft to be truly defended. I hope that comes in soon as Pyro will be wild.
I wish people making these videos would at least read the Q&A before spreading misinformation. A solo person can fly the ship just fine; they will lose out on the turrets. The Q&A officially states the MR quantum dampener will be controlled by any seat (including the pilot seat) unless it becomes a problem in the future. Multicrew being forced down players throats is not a thing for the Zeus; it's just better with multicrew.
I have made sure to stress MR may or may not have QED and EMP on the pilot seat due to that wiggle room CIG left itself in the Q&A. Scorp Antares in particular shows inclination to forced 2-player usage for balance. This is imperative for backers to think about before applying CCUs to MR for loaner for whichever loaner Zues it gets very soon.
Zeus Mk2 CL went up initial sale for 150 USD credit or 135 USD Warbond (no credit). It is likely on flyable to go up a bit, based on precedence in past for a ship of this size 25-50 USD for both prices would be likely but we don't know exact price yet. Expect a sale of the ship as soon as it is flyable in Live server, likely on launch of 3.24.2 live
Connie has had many passes, its going into its 6th when it finally gets another pass. Lancer is badly due up for a pass itself but who knows when that will get surprise dropped on us.
"What do these ships bring that makes the value...." Absolutely nothing... Multicrew is dead on arrival, always has been, always will be, until CiG milks the whales to death and can no longer hawk big expensive ships to solo pilots
The changes coming to pilot controlled weaponry and engineering will force multi-crew ships. Add to that there are only specific capabilites that can be done on such ships many backers will at least run tandem 2 player ships.
Don't forget operational costs - Polaris is a great solution to haul cargo to a player outpost for yourself/your Org where combat is possible on the way, or escorting dedicated haulers while hauling yourself sure. But that is a lot of ship to maintain, fuel, and crew for general hauling in safer space.
Fair criticism, as a fellow long haul backer I too look at my ships and wonder when they will be flyable, but note these Zeus ships are helping further build the RSI Design Language database to help make the other RSI ships which sit in backlog. It won't help other brands to be fair, but worth noting.
They did not fully commit to that - CIG said they would try and want it to be usable at all stations, but that's not a 100% commitment. I would hold any unapplied CCUs for MR unused just in case it comes out and systems are not available from the Pilot seat.
@@TheRealMinotaur667fair, but the Zeus can attack ground targets from the air
With cit con happening I was looking for what happened to the MR (pledged it, went to buyback since...)
Turns out this random, 4 week old video has more info than ANY of the current wave of Zeus reviews on the MR!
It does a bunch of stuff you can combine in different ways:
I would hate if they did that to MR. Everyone hated that idea with scorpus. It was the dumbest idea they could have done with the fighter
ES CCU upgrade was a good move. Lancers will get their pass eventually but who knows when. Buying two is certainly a workaround for niches haha.
@@RedJaythere is no money in the Freelancers, they are not „sexy“, so I don’t see a rework anytime soon, if ever. It’s better to focus on what we have know or at least in the near future.
I loved my freelancer, but…. It desperately needs a pass
RAFT is one of the ships I wished had a variant as I love its style, interior, and layout generally but hauling/fastpickup-dropoff gearing niches it to me
Those limitations, is that because the ships are older and the grids haven't been updated, or a design restraint?
Without a rework the C1 doesn't seem to be much competition
@@QuotidianStupidity The C1 was already obsolete in that moment as it got into sale :D
The original old zeus looks good! I'd purchase that one too
Right size cargo on the CL depends on what kinds of boxes it can fit.
Well said. CL has advantage of last through the ship pipeline currently and needs to be cargo balanced.
Nice, always hard not mix in personal views but I shared it to my group, well done.
I saw a walk through of the CL and it still has 3 suit lockers. Since exploration isn't quite there yet, and I don't see any great advantages, I'll probably switch my ES for a CL when they come out.
100% the Zeus is my solo ship lol, my daily driver, and my home. I will own all 3 cause that's how much I like them. W video though.
I think jump point size is based on weight rather than dimensions. But I could be wrong.
@@kristoffernordlund8392 I don’t study enough to decipher what is actually the plan vs what some random guy said, so you are probably closer to right
I"m pretty sure its a 1-3 crew unless they changed it from when I last read it, so you wont need to worry about engineering too much unless you are damaged
...and for wear and tear issues on the modules - but if you keep up with them it should be ok outside of damage from attack, environmental, or hitting something as you mentioned.
I went with the es for now, but have a similar opinion, and will probably upgrade to the mr when it comes out
Got a CL and MR waiting. Can't wait to give them a try. Really excited for real bounty gameplay
You'll be able to do it in just 5 short years from now.
No one mentions the msr as a competitor, cargo wise it’s right there to and was my daily driver. But this CL will become that I’m thinking.
CL has the advantage of being from the new ship pipeline, will be a pleasure to fly and MSR will be fighting from disadvantage when comparing them.
@@RedJay totally. I’m very critical of having a good forward and down view in my ships and as much as the lil windows in the msr helps, the CL is going to be a dream to fly I think. Now my galaxy maybe not as much but I don’t care 😂
nice sum up brother, i've already put down for the CL as I love it. can't wait
I cant wait for this ship!
@@RedJay I'm guessing it will be similar to the C1 in intensiveness and maneuverability, but... time will tell
I already have a C1, but bought a Zeus CL to see which would be my daily driver
For most backers I believe the CL will be the better option, unless you enjoy the rail mounted two position remote tractor beam. It is a helpful tool when removing cargo from a wreck in space instead of havinng to turn the whole ship to be lined up with direction of desired cargo.
The MR has two remote turrets an EMP/Quantum dampener and only three seats. Unless one of the seats operates both turrets I think your wrong about the pilot controlling the EMP/Quantum dampener.
You can fit a ROC in the Zeus CL.
It's going to be a great ship for owners and I love its price point.
It’s more interesting for me if you can fit 2 Roc in the ES.
You should ass the MR to your title because you seem to be one of the few who even speak about it, and that's what I was looking for
MR is the elephant in the room of the entire series of ships, even though its not slated to rollout in 3.24.2 it is coming out and will be a unique fleet support ship/bounty hunting vessel.
Hopefully CIG keep to the idea they had with the MR QD/EMP being useable from all seats. But one having priority (Like the Super Hornet)

Got it ship is one crew pilot just like everything else Got it understood. Can't wait to fly my Galaxy Solo
The MR looks sick
Yep, I picked one up myself ages ago and I can wait a bit longer for it.
I lovexseeing new ships. I plan to buy the cargo type and it has the colors i love.
Also don't forget Ody has a decent size cargo/ground vehicle area connected to the hangar, so some indy work can be done with ground vehicle planet/moonside
such a pretty ship, i own the ES i dont intend to use any of the cool functionality its gunna be purely an A-B ship lol
It'll be a good daily driver for you! I use my Connie Phoenix for the same role currently. RSI makes great ships that fit nicely for that.
This is so Beuitful, shame the game is shit right now for me, but I do have all three waiting in a hangar.. Im hoping to test fly it myself soon.
Two of them will be in testing very soon.
you can form an 8 slice pizza pie with these babies! Too bad it cant fit an Ursa. :(
I am holing on to my MSR. Especially since its really good and just got approved for an S3 shield. Cargo bay is real good.
It is a shame it can't run an Ursa in there - especially post Nursa. MSR has a nice ramped vehicle friendly cargo bay Nursa and more can fit in there yes.
@RedJay MSR is criminally under rated. Just needs a slight interior remodel and elevator
@@thegeneral1955 MSR is Bae to me.
It can fit an ursa just not with wheels. SO if you wanted a medivac it would work
@@Abcdefg-e5r LMAO! Ghetto fabulous!
The MR was stated that pilot cam use the EMP and qed
CIG said they would allow the pilot to operate the QED and EMP if it did not create any issues. That is wiggle room to me to not allow it if needed, i.e. too strong during internal testing etc. I recommend to those with MR CCUs to leave it unapplied even if you get a loaner soon for another Zeus variant until we can test it in-game.
Is the maneuverability of the MR already known?
The es and the cl are both not capable in fighting as they are maneuvering not fast enough.
So my hope is that the mr will have better performance in that regard
MR is a wildcard as it may be tuned better for manuverability and also have to consider its EMP knocking out little faster movers long enough to pop them with missiles.
nice video!
Thank you, happy Sunday!
Q and a confirmed dampener and emp from all seats on mr unless it cause certain issues, they might then restrict to subset. They are baby connies.
I just want it for the look
Why does the MR (Combat Variant) has 1 less shield than the ES (exploration Variant)?
Needs to be balanced due to the EMP and QED. MR is going to be strong fleet support vessel for small gangs flying around and making it too hard to pop moves it from tanky to impossible (this is all my guess though)
One thing, the blue doesn't have an emp.
Yes that's true, Cutty Blue just has the Quantum Dampener not the EMP as well.
Ohh that opening music, is that original SC material?..
It's licensed from Everything Everywhere All At Once - great movie btw.
Lol you said “the Railen is out there somewhere waiting in the wings”. Lol where! Where is my Railen???
Lol
As a CCU holder of a Railen I too want to see it happen and thought with the Syulen launch like many we would see Railen rolled out after. The honest answer is I am not sure when, but there are hidden ships in the pipeline and Railen would be a no brainer to print money selling.
Will it fit in the Polaris?
Extremely unlikely unless Polaris hangar has grown again.
When is it going to be flyable?
I would measure testing flyable in the coming days or next two weeks.
Mate you still get the suit lockers on the CL
I’m cashing in my carrack for a odyssey
Two different types of explorers, can't go wrong either way.
Where are you all seeing the suspected prices?? Or are you just comparing to ships that are out already?
Zeus Mk2 series had concept sale with prices for both WB and Credit, then estimating flyable prices on comparable ships of its size.
15:53 That would be really stupid. Only having one guy for the turrets or tractor beams. He'd be bored to death
Yay......another new ship....yay....Don't fix the old ones....keep makin new ones....yay....
Have you seen the MFD overhaul across every ship?
@@RedJay Nope.
If you watch the talking ships video from CitCon... they actually showcase the Zeus ST during the talk and it actually is shown with the name Status.
Remember when buying new ships, CIG may nerf it some time after sale, just like how they downsized the size5 guns on the redeemer
Yea a few folks are getting on me on that one haha. Always good to plan out CCU Chains for now, near term, and long term.
Medicate that OCD Nigel
I'm waiting for the AI server blades that will make turrets automatic defensive weapons on my cargo haulers and sometime offensive on my medium and heavy fighters.
I plan to keep a cargo ship at each major location, instead fly a smaller craft versus flying a large ship around.
The CL does have storage for an extra suit... it's any empty bunk. ;-D
Good strategy on cargo vessels pre-staging. Blades would take a ton of pressure off ships with remote turrets to have big crews for size of craft to be truly defended. I hope that comes in soon as Pyro will be wild.
Mk is pronounced "mark". Mk is just an abbreviation
Yep, been getting that reminder from a few folks haha.
Jumping the gun calling this a first look I think
How much is the CL
3 times the price of AAA game.
There is no price yet, possibly $400, 450 for the ST
Zeus Mk2 CL went up initial sale for 150 USD credit or 135 USD Warbond (no credit). It is likely on flyable to go up a bit, based on precedence in past for a ship of this size 25-50 USD for both prices would be likely but we don't know exact price yet. Expect a sale of the ship as soon as it is flyable in Live server, likely on launch of 3.24.2 live
i Got all 3 just in case
That's one way to avoid variant issues haha
"there will be passes on the connie and lancer series" LOL
Si
So say we all.
cargo hauling with the Zeus CL nahhh. Cargo hauling with the Polaris yeahhh
@@RedJay that was Not serious.
Stop making new ships that add NOTHING to the game. Work on the 10 year backlog of already sold ships you ripoff artists
Fair criticism, as a fellow long haul backer I too look at my ships and wonder when they will be flyable, but note these Zeus ships are helping further build the RSI Design Language database to help make the other RSI ships which sit in backlog. It won't help other brands to be fair, but worth noting.
Great, 👍 subbed now
13:14 CIG Said they want that all of the three Sites can aktivate the EMP and dampener.
They did not fully commit to that - CIG said they would try and want it to be usable at all stations, but that's not a 100% commitment. I would hold any unapplied CCUs for MR unused just in case it comes out and systems are not available from the Pilot seat.
