Been following the similar Philosophy in my mini Restaurant for a while now.. selling at half prices of other well funded restaurants in town. Done good for a couple of years but.. came to a point where I say" Fack it while people serving with half the quality we maintain get all the goodies,houses, Cars & whatnots. Whyd' I have to still ply through the markets with my old scooty??? Still can't be progressive enough to charge equal prices as others though.. 25% profit is enough for me and my family😅😅

I had eaten there just last month and the food so good, the ordering was tricky though as my Vietnamese not so good, but I received a great bowl of this mismatch stuff amazing broth

Of all the countries I eat noodles ,, Vietnam have the best dry noodles and liquid noodles in the world it’s soo delicious their broth is another level ,, their meatballs and springrolls aresoo good and fresh
I have no issues adding truffle to a meal, at least it adds some sort of flavour. But Gold Leaf is literally just to boost the price and justify the insanely high price tag, it offers no benefit to meal other than that.
Whenever one of these shows come out you can guess the 5 ingredients that will be in it, regardless of whether they have any purpose. All it's missing is the caviar. The gold leaf in particular is super lame.
I think a lot of normal-income people would give her more than 20 cents. Those customers feel they're contributing to a good cause and the owner can continue to provide 20-cent meals to those who really can't afford it. It's a win-win strategy.

Great episode! The authenticity of the banh canh cua of that lady is mindblowing. Its one of my all time favorites of vietnamese dishes (even in the states, not many restaurants even bother to have it on their menu, which sucks) The color of the soup here is so vibrant and rich, you can really see how gelatinous the soup is from being slow cooked and how fresh the udon noodles are. The soup is like drinking creamy bone marrow with a crab essence and is not fishy at all. Her positive attitude for not wanting to change the recipe or lower the standards is awesome enough, and so is the portion size. I want a bowl NOW. Also its great to see Sonny and Calvin appear again!

Yeah, fantastic comparison! I remember back in 2006 they seved Bánh mì for 6500 dong on the street for breakfast on my way to work in Trương Định in Destrict 3. Phở for lunch... and Cà phê sữa đá after lunch. Vietnamese cuisine is one of my favourite.

That amount of seafood for 14 dollars isn't even that crazy in that second noodle dish. It looks amazing and everything is cooked to perfection. A dish like that with that amount of seafood could easily cost 20+ anywhere else but everyone just loves to complain about something
TBH I live in Cali. You can not get a decent bowl of Pho for less than $15 and there's no crab at all.
Minimum wage in Vietnam is $200/month. So $14 for a bowl of food- especially street food that has no restaurant overhead costs- is quite a lot.
@@cademancadencost of dish should depend on how it tastes, quality and what is put into it, if you do not have that kind of money then just eat 0.2 dollars bowl , stop complaining

For the dish that cost $160 is normal cause theres truffles but the banh canh is really really over price for the locals
