Penny Can Alcohol Stove Fire FAIL

  • I made this alcohol mini stove out of a couple of empty drink cans but the initial light up should have been done outside. I left the footage in to see what can happen if you don't treat this stuff with respect. No need for any health and safety comments, I know the score, we can all make errors, you just have to deal with them and move on. Enjoy.

    holes way to big and to many you only need one in the center this stove works by heating the alcohol up to it's boiling point producing a alcohol gas which will ignite the gas but if to many holes and are to large to much air is introduced and no gas is made in quantity to ignite.

    Nice one Martin nearly burned the cabin down! What does the penny do by the way?

    • @RetroHax
      @RetroHax  3 года назад

      You pour the liquid through the holes and put the penny on top. You are then supposed to pour some more liquid in the bowl and the penny stops it from leaking away. You light this liquid and it starts to heat up the container which boils the internal liquid that turns it into a gas and creates the burning flames.

    These actually do work. You put in way too much and the wrong type of fuel. You should have use white gas (camping fuel), lamp oil etc. it doesn't burn as hot as alcohol. Also, you only need a couple of capfuls! Your setup would have eventually melted the aluminum can and you would have had it spreading!
