- Hidden Secrets of The Royal Kitchen (Royal Family Documentary) | Real Stories
Former Royal Chef Graham Newbould who was once a chef on the Royal Yacht Britannia for the Queen reveals what goes on in the kitchens of the famous House of Windsor.
From TV suppers at Buckingham Palace, to poached salmon caught and cooked at the Royal Family’s Scotland retreat at Balmoral, Graham shows the viewers how to cook food fit for a Queen. He goes back on board the Royal Yacht Britannia where he makes good use of the Royal ice cream machine, and even recreates the wedding breakfast he helped serve up for the Prince of Wales and Princess Diana. He also gives a fascinating insight into the day-to-day food in a Palace - from eight sided cucumber sandwiches to a special dish of liver and rice, a firm favourite with the ever-present Royal corgis.

Secrets of The Royal Kitchen (Royal Family Documentary) - Real Stories
Rest in peace, chef Graham Newbould. It has been a pleasure watching your work.
I'm here in year 2024 , what an informative video to watch. Everything is perfect
I just found out a couple of days ago that Chef Newbould passed away last year. I first watched this video years ago, and have just watched it again in his memory. Rest in peace, Chef Graham, and sing with the angels.

This is one of the best chefs ive ever seen, man just walked into a decommissioned yacht galley and made 5 star meals fit for royalty just to show the camera how it was done. Gotta respect the knowledge and the pride in his work.
He's a good chef (I'm a chef myself) but in actual fact what he's doing is straight forward set in stone methods and recipes found in a lot of classical recipe books. Simply follow the recipe steps to the letter and you'd be able to do it too. It's making your own recipes that taste as good that takes skill and doing it to order etc. Therefor the fella is good yes but at what he does here, maybe not as a chef like me working at creating dishes and cooking fresh to order, who knows? I do like classic cookery mind and he has skill there's absolutely no doubt, he must have had a brigade there too, doubt it'd just be one chef.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@frasercheyne8332 i think it is the same argument to how realist painters are not really painters, they just copy what already exists, be it perfectly- you still need skills to do stuff this way and not feckitup once
The produce was left over in the galley from when it was decommissioned as well
This chef makes cooking all these meals seem so simple. The way he describes the dish makes me feel like I could do it myself. Simply made without too many ingredients.
Indeed! I want to try making the Bernaisse sauce!
You can't. Get over yourself.
@@obrienjohnj Why not? Anyone can make a decent bearnaise. She just needs patience.

What impressed me the most was how calm and humble he is as a chef.
Yes I totally agree with that opinion
Yes it's quite amazing. It's sad he's passed away.
A real profesionist !!!
With the modesty of a true master this chef explains and demonstrates the classic French kitchen. I once was the youngest qualified female chef in Amsterdam. Started my education at 16. Seeing all those wonderful dishes being created without pressure of the restaurant rush and limitations of budget makes me envious and feeling nostalgic. Thank you so much for uploading.

I have a lot of respect for the Chef. Very down to earth and talented. He is really carrying out his calling in life.
HI Nancy, maybe the royal chef Graham Newbould will continue cooking for King Charles the 111 and now Queen Carmillia too. In the castles and homes alike. For special guests when coming to visit and talk business with them too. Maybe do some sightseeing under police guard and protection aswell? Who knows what goes on in their lives? Anyway got to keep somethings private from the press I guess too? From Valerie in Oban Argyll. Scotland. UK.
He passed away in march
Nice to see a great chef who isn’t an arrogant self obsessed crank.
He might be bored of doing the classics over and over, but he’s certainly good at it
I don't care for the royals, but this chef is a master of his craft and obviously loves what he does. Kudos to his dedication and impeccable cooking skills!
Why where are you from the U.S.A.!
Some history lessons will let you know why we loathe those scammers that are called royalties.
@@boorat3573fuck the royal family and I’m English
The chef seem so humble esp when speaking about the cabin he had to sleep in on the yacht he seem so sweet and like he is such a delightful employee like he was just so grateful to just have had that opportunity to have traveled to places he wouldnt have went working for any1 else. I like that u can tell he truly loved his life as a chef it wasnt just a job to him.
thank you............HE DOESN'T COMPLAIN FOR THE SAME REASON ENGLISH ACTORS DON'T.....(their pay, their role, their billing) etc........THEIR HAPPY TO HAVE THOSE JOBS.........where as here in the USA, EVERYONE HAS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT SOMETHING...........................................
Loyal to the end. He's just an ordinary man doing the job he trained for. A job worth doing is worth doing well.
Tywanna Grice, Are you nuts? He is supposed to be grateful while the so-called Queen is living tax free off of taxpayers money. Time to get rid of the so-called "royalty", long, long overdue
'THEY'RE HAPPY' = THEY ARE HAPPY
Tywanna Grice it kind of made me sad when he spoke about how tired he is at the end of the night
My father was a professional cook. We weren't rich, but still enjoyed fine food.
Anyone who enjoys cooking and has a greenmarket nearby can eat like royalty. Wonderful video. Enjoyed it very much. Thanks to Chef Graham Newbould for sharing his experience with us all. Maybe I'll enjoy a glass of Mateus Rose tonight and toast the Queen.
She would not like my cooking lol I put lots of both when I make pasta

And Graham - what a lovely man. Loyal and tirelessly hard working. The royal family were lucky to have had him as their chef.
I wonder where he is now?
He’s probably had a restaurant of his own. Also, there are many wealthy people in this world besides royalty who employ a private chef... which I am sure is much less stressful than cooking for the queen.
@@Rick_Hoppe Sadly he died suddenly in 2023 aged 66 years. He seemed a nice chap.

I enjoyed watching this very talented chef create these beautiful dishes. He obviously enjoys his position, of which he can be very proud. I'm very happy with my so simple life after seeing this though.
I thought he wasted a lot of food.. the potatoe shavings and the bread for the croutons.
I am sure all of the scraps are recycled and do not go to waste. The purpose of the docu is to show what they eat...not what happens to the scraps...I am sure it is compost, for other animals (like the pigs)...even the staff...like the bread...nothing wrong with that.
The large noble estates are run incredibly efficiently; they take the growing of their fruits and vegetables, and the raising of their live stock very very seriously. Their ways of farming, and animal raising and breeding is used as a model. I think we can be absolutely sure that nothing goes to waste; it would be donated, composted, used in any way that it can be.
stfu u dumb royal groupie! they wouldnt give 2 fucks about recycling u idiot unless parliament got onto them about it nicole. and as for u 'debruyn' i think if its such a good fucking model, why dont her 'sunjects' get the same benefits!
i can guarantee u if there's any class A eggs or royal dairy cream left, it wont be heading off to windsor local food bank .
@Mahfuz Actually, they do care...these are very efficient kitchen. "Efficient" does not mean charitable, it means recycling to keep their own costs down. You better believe they know how much stuff costs and where it is going! Remember the peanut scandal and they stopped putting them out because the servants were eating too many? I never claimed they give it away...quite the contrary! ;)
I have so much respect for the chef ! Omg it brought tears to my eyes . He’s so humble and so loyal !!! God bless you and your reward is with God 🙏🏿
This chef is the real MVP !
I admire this chef and others who serve in Her Majestys kitchens. The simple ease that this chef and other chefs and kitchen staff exhibit, carrying out an enormous responsibility especially at state banquets, shows professionalism at its best. The British are not known for their excellent service, especially on ocean liners for nothing.
Well, sir, it was a REAL honor to observe your wonderful cooking skills and the BEAUTIFUL food you prepared, thank you so much
Everyone seems upset about the royal family and their meals. For me, I really just admired the chef, how he took so much pride in his cooking. So nice to see someone who appreciated his job knowing he was chosen to cook for royalty. :)
It's so rare anymore to see someone take pride in his work. Taking pride in providing the best service possible is one of the finest qualities of the British, much like the Japanese.
I agree, it's a rarity nowadays.
I felt for the chef! He has no life, but agree he takes a lot of pride on his job. That's nice. But I wouldn't wanna be his girlfriend...seems like he doesn't have time for anything else besides cooking for the Royal Family LOL!

I have so much respect for the chef and the pride he has for cooking. God bless him. I’m disappointed about the chefs cabin. They could have done better. That’s just mad disrespectful considering the amount of work he puts in to serve them 🥺
He was their chef in the 80s. The standards back then were far from what they are today. (Crew) Cabins have come a long way since then but for the 80s his cabin was fairly nice especially because it was actually really spacious for a crew cabin.
I suggest you visit the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh. None of the crew spaces on board are very large. It was a serving Royal Navy vessel.

Doreen, the GMO protest annoys me. Every vegetable and all the meat was bred for taste and productivity --just not as precisely has we can do with GMOs. Monsanto alone is going to save millions of lives.
One of my rules in life is to compare no one to Hitler. I have three exceptions. Joseph Stalin and Mao killed more people than Hitler. Richard Mahoney, the CEO who turned Monsanto into a biotech company may have saved more lives than the world's most evil men took. The guy should be added to Mount Rushmore.

I'm finding that the two World Wars really had an impact on how the Windors' eat. Early rulers were (in)famous for not just their feasts, but what they ate alone or with immediate family. Edward VII was rather wasteful in a lot of ways with food, but his son George V, having lived in the Navy most of his life, had a much more restrictive diet, allowing him to adjust to rationing in ways I doubt his father could handle.
You really should learn how Roman numeration, thus Royal lineage works. VII is '7', while V is '5'. Last I checked 5 precedes 7, but please do correct me if I'm wrong...😂
@justsayin5609. Correcting you; It's EDWARD VII & GEORGE V. The 7th king named Edward & the 5th king named George. Not going from 7 to 5.

Ok, here in Scotland, a developed and allegedly wealthy country, we have children going to school hungry or going to breakfast/after school clubs just in order to be fed. There are areas of severe poverty here. 'They' (the royals) will happily scoff our game and salmon, but Charlie won't eat our vegetables. Doesn't like them, he's only related to them 😂😂 honestly, the cost of shipping his fresh veg daily? The whole thing is a bloody racket. That guy though, is an amazing chef. The onions and garlic comment is only because she doesn't want to offend anyone with smelly breath. When I heard about some of the fashion rules, I realized they all have a practical purpose. Like, not wearing bright makeup or nail polish is to make sure you always look well groomed. Chipped polish and smudged and fading lipstick (which the Royals don't always have the time to refresh) is a bad look. The point is to keep looking good for as long as possible with the fewest mishaps. So, strong-smelling food and food that could cause embarrassment (like spinach which can get stuck between teeth and requires using a toothpick) is avoided. It's all just about practicality and saving face - kinda literally.
Like anyone gets that close to her... I'd swallow the spinach! It's so healthy.
