I have always liked the idea of using epic minis with the standard 40k rules set for a sort of minihammer game, where you simply change the inches to centermeters. (E.g. 6inches become 6cm, 12inches becomes 12cm etc). Its not an exact 1:1 scale down of the measurements, but its close enough (and simple enough) to make an enjoyable game variant i think.
My Epic space marine army is Ultramarines. Red, yellow, and light gray works well. Black and green just fade into the scenery. A Space Wolves army would be great.
I do love the sense of scale you get with 6mm; small enough that you can field them in great numbers, but large enough that you can distinguish individual figures.
I love your brand of nostalgia - the models, the music, the whole vibe is so amazing. And I think your idea of using epic minis to help tell the narrative of your campaign is such an awesome idea! I've always wanted that feeling of loss and attrition over a campaign in a 40k, and this seems like an awesome way to represent that!
Really cool project. You're a champ for doing those tiny details so well, especially the pauldron trims. I think I might have some sort of cognitive overload if I painted so many tiny trims. Any great work!
Loved this! Every one of your episodes has been brill! Trimming mold lines on a 100 miniature minis would have driven me loopy! I bet that involved a lot of concentration!
Glorious work! Painting Salamanders for epic at the moment and it has to be said that Contrast paints are a dream at this scale. Keep on doing what you're doing, dude! 👌
I know this might be much to say, but honestly your videos help me a lot, especially since at the moment I am in the middle east on deployment. Your channel has helped out a lot not just as a fellow hobbyist but also for my mental health since out here there is literally nothing but sand for the next few months before I can come back home. Keep up the great work man, and as always I am looking forward to the next video!
Oh man, using Epic as a part of a 40k campaign is a brilliant idea. I've heard of people using Epic scale minis with 40k rules, but this is really cool. Having been distantly curious about Epic way back when, I'm loving seeing it covered. A great video, as always. As for the question, I would love to see Crimson Fists, as depicted on the cover of the 3rd edition codex for Space Marines.
Fantastic video! The army looks incredible, your Blood Angels force is really a total hobby project which I love. I'm on vacation next week and this video got me inspired to smash through the Yncarne and get cracking on my Corsair killteam. Love it!
Background music made me feel a little melancholic for a few minutes there lol. Fantastic looking army! Nice choice on pin washing and the basing paint choice.
Great work on representing Tycho's 3rd Company. just wanted to make my suggestion on the remaining minis and make them Crimson Fists, maybe start a Rynn's World campaign with them?
Greetings and Salutations! I dont actually play Epic but rather 40k, but I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Back in the day I bought a metal Epic Baneblade and the box including the Ork Stomper because I wanted to scratchbuild them for 40k. I now have The Baneblade but not the Ork Stompa kit. I might get around to building a Stomper eventually. All the best, Billi
I love this kind of video, an army project from start to finish. I have a collection of these models, thank you for the inspiration. I'm doing some BADAB WAR era armies to fight each other. My main stumbling block has been what rule-set to use in order to base them accordingly. There are 5 or 6 versions including fan made.
Not sure how I missed this video Ed and loved it mate. Hope you get to play and experience 2nd edition Epic someday. Thanks for the excellent content as always Ed.
Impressive, those teeny tiny peeps look really good with a controlled lick of paint .. so many shambling epic minis I've seen in the past, deformed and mutated beyond recognition by layered crusts of paint, thick as Ben Grimm's rocky orange hide after a dose of space gamma rays.
Funny now how the Thunderhawk looks closer in scale to a contemporary Storm Eagle/Fire Raptor. 2E Blood Angels trigger one heck of a nostalgic sense-memory of flicking through White Dwarf back in my teens during the early/mid 90s. Every time I see something like this my inner hobby-gremlin really wants to start a 2E Blood Angels army project, but then I remember I already have 3 unpainted armies in the queue and plans for a further 3 after that, so it my be a while... They are so pretty though...
Minisodes Made Me Into 2nd Edition 40K And Acutual Made Me Make Papper models of Certain Units For the Ultramarines , Blood Angels , Tyranids And Choas Marines Really. And Hell 2nd Edition Is Probally My Favorite cause It Feels So Colorful And Creative And Sometimes Even Halarious ( With Some Vechiles Mind You ) And Hell I Say Minisodes And Miniscape Are the 2 Channels That Made Me A 2nd Edition Fanboy Ever Since Last Year And Just Like Ed Always Said " Happy Hobbying ! "
I have the full Blood Angels 3rd Battle Company in my own collection but my army is for 40k. All my marines are in mark VI "beakie armour" The full battle company along with all the support vehicles are all fully painted.
That's Epic! Sorry... Can't wait to see how you incorporate this army into the narrative of your engrossing and highly entertaining campaign. I'm glad you started a Patreon, considering the time and effort it takes to produce content of this quality. It's like White Dwarf of old, but in video.
Hi, I have the same project but I'm half way thru. Great scale to paint fast and great setting to play. I did the same choice for the bases but chose round ones.
Nicely done. The only thing I would have done different was to base them on the long Epic Armageddon bases. Epic Armageddon was probably the best ruleset GW came out with and is vastly superior then anything they have out today.
Nowadays there are a lot of alternatives to printing Epic40k miniatures in resin, with a lot of amazing details that would surely be impossible to sculpt by hand. But still, the original old school minis had a special magic that the modern ones will never have
Painting Epic miniatures was super easy back in the 1990's, just leave them on their sprues and grab the right can of spray paint, for Ulthwe Eldar a good can of black spray paint for Blood Angels a can of red would work. Then spray them and then cut them off of their sprues and put them on their bases and touch up the helmets, weapons and whatever else. Love playing Epic but then GW kill it off did not stop me from building up my armies so now I have 15,000 - 18,000 points of Eldar, Dark Angels, Orks, Squats and Imperial Guard.

Travel hammer!
I've seen some people did this for necromunda a few years back.
I'm working slowly on such a thing. (Fan made)
It's better if you just leave the measurements as is. Then it feels like the guns actually have range.
My Epic space marine army is Ultramarines. Red, yellow, and light gray works well. Black and green just fade into the scenery. A Space Wolves army would be great.
You continue to be one of the most underrated 40k channels.
This.
I Mean It Just Feels Really Creative In Some Areas To Be In Complete Honesty
That Thunderhawk is such a precious baby
I do love the sense of scale you get with 6mm; small enough that you can field them in great numbers, but large enough that you can distinguish individual figures.
6mm was always one of my favorite historical scales too.
That thunder hawk gunship sounds effect spooked me. It sounds 3D
Shrooms are kicking in...

Would love to see a battle report in epic from you. Your battle reports are the best on the web. Love the channel.
I don't have any plans to do this, but it was fun and quite easy to paint these guys...maybe one day! 🤔
@@edpaintsminis no worries, forgot to say the army looks great.
@@edpaintsminis we’ll all be here to support if you do :) they look brilliant, too!
Legitimately my favourite retro 40k channel
How cool! I'm excited to see more. Maybe a campaign map that shows what elements are where on a map of Armageddon? Looking forward to more!
I have been thinking about doing this! Maybe writing up each mission and compiling it into a fanmade supplement.
Really cool project. You're a champ for doing those tiny details so well, especially the pauldron trims. I think I might have some sort of cognitive overload if I painted so many tiny trims. Any great work!

I don't know why, but even that green plastic color feels nostalgia.
I was quite surprised to see that when I stripped the paint! Must've been from the 1st ed Space Marine kit.
Glorious work! Painting Salamanders for epic at the moment and it has to be said that Contrast paints are a dream at this scale. Keep on doing what you're doing, dude! 👌
Best 40k channel by mile
I cant wait to see the other 9 companies 😉
An absolute feast to watch. Thanks for sharing

Nostalgia Overload. Well done.

I swore happily several times while watching. This is such an awesome project, and well recorded. Fantastic work
This looks amazing! Love the idea behind them too. I'd really love to see some epic scale Space Wolves some time
Fantastic video! The army looks incredible, your Blood Angels force is really a total hobby project which I love. I'm on vacation next week and this video got me inspired to smash through the Yncarne and get cracking on my Corsair killteam. Love it!
What a belter of a video! Seeing the whole Company together is such an awesome idea and they look amazing!
Amazing job, thank you for these good old vibes! ❤
The simple yet bold aesthetic is really motivating me to paint my own models. Thank you for another amazing video!
Thank you for making my weekend just a little better everytime!
Must be so wonderful to have those retro boxes of full armies... I dream of one day finding one.
Beautiful, just beautiful! Brings a tear to my bionic eye ;)
This is absolutely incredible!
Can't go wrong with your videos always great to watch. (Doing two companies of Epic Blood Angels myself at the moment.)
Love the background track that you're using for these videos, very '80s early '90s electronica. Perfect for setting the mood.
you have a very calming voice, and i love the retro style music. and its amazing to see a paint scheme i could follow. loved it.
Impressive brush control to paint the pauldron trim with contrast paints at that scale. amazing
Background music made me feel a little melancholic for a few minutes there lol. Fantastic looking army! Nice choice on pin washing and the basing paint choice.
Love you old school 40k content! It makes me wish I was born in the 90s
That thumbnail is so cool!

Fantastic, Thank you
Love the way you painted those marines: fair and square, no useless BS; lots of good tips for my future Host and Admech army. 💪
Literally Epic ❤
That diorama at the start is amazing!
Crimson Fists - The first 40k Artwork cover.
These are lovely models and what a wonderful job you’ve done with them
Beautiful lil munchkins! I’m so glad you’re doing these videos!! 🙏
Lovely collection! Im so hyped to see what you do next.
Outstanding work!

I've been painting some 6mm chaos stuff recently, really enjoy painting at this scale, quick and fun!
Wow. Love it. 🤗
These are terrific! Thanks for sharing such great eye candy! ~ Gordon
Another incredible video. Love it!
Ah man, I love a bit of epic!

Always a good day whenever you post ❤
Contrast was definitely the way to go, looks great mate! Tempted to do this for my Dark Angels.
Dude that's so cool
Beautiful work! Love it
I love the video, especially the glimpses of the beautiful cat you have.
Amazing as always
This tickled all my nostalgia bones!
I have the full Blood Angels 3rd Battle Company in my own collection but my army is for 40k. All my marines are in mark VI "beakie armour" The full battle company along with all the support vehicles are all fully painted.
That's awesome - and beakies too!

Great video, loved seeing this come together! :)
class, love og marines
Great work!!

Yes! Aesthetically I never really like the strips, but it does make them easier to paint.
Agreed. Solid decision making the whole way though, worth playing every turn.
Great project!
Awesome force!
Awesome mate!
Anyone ever told you the way you move is very ASMR .
I always enjoyed epic battle reports it’s a shame they discontinued it.
WHAT A SATURDAY TREAT!
Now that's Epic
(I'll see myself out)
Love your vids, Ed. I'd love to see you paint up a Dark Angel or two sometime
I know they don't have much for legendary companies, but I'd love to see how you'd tackle a raven guard army in epic scale!
Great video would love to see you paint the remainders as either the sons of Medusa or the knights of blood
Your voice is so good for this!
It's a tiny space marines we got here for sure
So cool
Sweet vid
Really cool video
You should definitely add some Death Company to your epic army using some of those spare Marines. They had rules in WD210 if it helps!
Nowadays there are a lot of alternatives to printing Epic40k miniatures in resin, with a lot of amazing details that would surely be impossible to sculpt by hand.
But still, the original old school minis had a special magic that the modern ones will never have
Dark Angels 3rd company. Their symbol is just a diagonal red line on the knee, and I feel like trying for smaller details would be interesting
Babe wake up, Minisodes uploaded
❤️
Keeping with the Armageddon theme. Grimaldus' Black Templars at Helsreach might be cool? Plus you can add titan support then too
Awesome job but why you glue your toy figures to biscuits?
MOAR videos please!
Please Standby...
Amazing stuff! As for extra marines, what about the legion of the damned?🤔
Armageddon dunes seems to work best if you dry brush it back up. I usually slather tyrant skull on.
Excuse the pun but this is EPIC!!!!
Well done 👍
Well this was fun. And they look great too! But I kind of feel, they are missing their black armored brethern of the death company! :D
Great. Now I have go go buy epic stuff
