Hi everyone! This post comes with an exciting announcement for you all. Here in Minisodes HQ I have been quietly plotting to dedicate more time and energy into the channel, giving you more Minisodes and finding more ways to share with you my love of the golden age of Warhammer. As of today, for the cost of a White Dwarf magazine circa 1997, you can access my new Patreon. I already have a podcast up for your listening pleasure, in which I (amongst other things) give you the inside scoop on the channel, future plans and a commentary on one of my favourite bits of 40k short fiction. This Patreon is very much inspired by this wonderful community and I can't wait to start engaging with patrons and hearing all about what you'd love to see from the channel (as well as having a good chinwag about all things 2nd Edition). Hope to see you over there. www.patreon.com/Minisodes
All i want is for GW to publish a new edition of Space Hulk. We have new sculpts! Hell, at this point I'd take a reprint of the current edition. It's such a shame it's OOP.
Really appreciated! Honestly I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome - it's always a bit of a concern that you commit to filming and editing a game that doesn't deliver in the end. Some lovely story beats emerged out of this and that's why I love Space Hulk! Peak GW
i left my 1st ed spacehulk, deathwing and the other one back in the UK@@edpaintsminis , so only have 3rd ed. its just not the same. The Grim Darkness of the Future Past is just the peak, and its been sliding down into normality ever since.
I really thought that last rush of stealers would be too much for Ezekiel, and he was about to go out like a lion dragged down by hyenas. His victory was a great reminder of how satisfying the uphill battle for the Terminators could be in first edition Space Hulk - outnumbered and out-clawed, but he kept his cool and played his wargear smartly to snatch the win.
This is everything my 12-year old self wanted when I drooled at an unaffordable Space Hulk box set at my local game store back in the early 90’s. Thank you.
Absolutely amazing! Love seeing a Space Hulk battle report, and honestly one of the best ones I have seen yet (trust me I've watched them all). Had a great holiday myself getting to play through all the original missions, deathwing, and genestealer with my younger brother. Something we hadn't done for 20+ years. Hopefully you'll make more awesome SH battle reports!
Thanks so much! I completed almost every scenario and campaign I could get my hands on with Tom a few years back. Some of the most wholesome and memorable gaming I can remember.
@@edpaintsminisThat's awesome! I'm looking forward to the next time I see my brother (likely December) so we can work our way through the SH campaigns book and the White Dwarf published ones too. Really hope you make more battle reports because you're excellent at them for Space Hulk!
Le meilleur rapport de mission que j’ai vu ! C’est super bien filmé avec une jolie table! Les commentaires sont top et le montage vidéo parfait! Merci et hâte de voir les prochaines missions!
Greetings my Lord! I really enjoyed thus one. I played a lot of Space Hulk back in the day. I have a set of the original metal Terminators, and they and the old plastic Terminators still serve in my Space Marine armies. True veterans indeed! Thank you, all the best from Billi.
Lovely game and great editing! I've only ever really played second edition Space Hulk, so it was interesting to see the slight differences in how it plays. Certainly an interesting and well-tuned mission - I was certain towards the end that it was all up for the marines, but somehow they managed to push through to victory!
Thank you so much. What I appreciate about 1st edition is that it applies cool RPGesque elements to an asymmetrical puzzle foundation. It's a super cool mission. The Captain, TWO heavy weapons and forcefield generator give the marines all the tools they need to get the job done. This would be insane with a regular squad i think!
I used to watch all the Space Hulk games on Scorpion82's channel, and knowing how hard it can be to win for the Marines I gotta say this game was INCREDIBLE! Awesome bold strategy and some glorious runs of dice rolls for mighty Deathwing of Legion I. Love it brother keep up with the great content! Fave hobby channel on youtube!
YES! Great to hear from you fellas. This was indeed a seriously clutch game and I could not have hoped for a more tense demonstration of one of my all time favourite tabletop gamres. Playing conservatively will inevitably lead to getting nowhere I find - gotta capitalise on the when the Genestealers are depleted or out of position. Thanks for you kind comment - means a huge amount! Looking forward to your next pod :)
Yeah. Space Hulk never really took off at my store due to too many bleak outcomes. Sure you can blame the dice. But players at my FLGS just got discouraged early. A shame really.
Okay, this is good. Seriously. I have watched _several_ Space Hulk boardgame videos on RUclips and this one was by _far_ the most enjoyable! Real suspense and everything! By the Emperor please keep them coming!
This channel is made with so much love and soul, that I could feel warm fuzzy nostalgia when opening another video. And I've played 40K only during 6-7 ed, for I'm too young to have witnessed OldHammer myself!
What an amazing game! Thanks for sharing. Space Hulk blew right past me when it originally came out. I'm not surprised they go for so much online. That games is a blast!
Great video! Painted minis add so much to a game. You really could picture your Death Wing creeping down the corridors of the hulk. Also, I now really want to get hold of a copy of Space Hulk!
I absolutely loved this battle report you have a way of reinterpreting what happens on the board into a gripping story. It would be cool if you did a series with this squad or something
@@edpaintsminis Agreed. 1st edition had it all. Hybrids, weapons, RPG. The Campaigns, Deathwing & Genestealer books are my bread & butter. Read them all the time & never get tired of them. Of all the Battle reports I've seen on YT for Space Hulk i must this this is probably the best one.
What a flawless battle report! Production so good, got across the game and rules without them bogging things down. Good narrative, great shots of the board. Subscribed and will recommend to others!
That was a really great bat rep! Expansion seems to give marines much more options, from what I remember in the base game, they are one bad roll from being overwhelmed. That is a well earned sub.
Loved this game, thanks for doing the vid. I thought Deathwing rules were peak 1st ed Space Hulk - I felt like Genestealer added complexity without making the game more fun. Couple of quibbles - I think you should have given yourself 2 more CP as long as the Captain was alive? And I think the movement rules in 1st ed allow the marines to move diagonally, and let them fire at a wider front arc. I kept wishing the terminators would fire at more doors! Anyway, minor stuff - I hope you do more Space Hulk, of any edition. Love the miniatures as well!
Thanks so much for the comment and I agree with you on the 1st ed rules. Good shout on the Command Points! Ezekiel is augmented with so many rules I think I let that one slip.
Veteran tip: if the first stealer survives overwatch and the following stealers have enough APs to get in cover or attack someone else, then you stop moving. You block LOS and the others pass without a chance of overwatch. The marine will still have to deal with this stealer with his own APs but the others are safe.

"What is your name, new brother marine?"
"Barrels, sir!"
"I am sure we will find a role for you"
'Come! Show me what passes for fury among your misbegotten kind!'
And the crowd goes wiiiiiiiiiiild
Ezekiel is basically Doom Guy at this point - I love these retro game videos!
Haha! Yes. I was listening to the soundtrack on the commute to work the other day as it happens...Ezekiel is metal as hell!
@@edpaintsminis it's a great hype soundtrack!
Malum Caedo vibrates distantly.
Hahaha! Uh oh!
Ezekiel would eat Doom Guy’s brains for breakfast
17:54 “Brother Darius, a true hero of the Chapteuuuuurgh” made me laugh out
You are the oldhammer equivalent's of Play on Tabletop. Keep them coming
*Please* do, these are brilliant
Please play the whole campaign! This was fantastic
Seconded!
that might have been the cleanest marine win I have ever seen in a game of space hulk
All i want is for GW to publish a new edition of Space Hulk. We have new sculpts! Hell, at this point I'd take a reprint of the current edition. It's such a shame it's OOP.
that clutch forcefield thrown right in front of the pursuing stealers was so satisfying!
Wow, what a great battle report! Both the actual battle was great with some surprising twists as well as being very well shot and edited.
Really appreciated! Honestly I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome - it's always a bit of a concern that you commit to filming and editing a game that doesn't deliver in the end. Some lovely story beats emerged out of this and that's why I love Space Hulk! Peak GW
Brother Barrels is doing the Emperor's work!
He loves his work.
I love Gary Chalk's artwork on the tiles for Space Hulk.
Thanks for another fun glimpse back in to the grim darkness of the future past.
I considered using the 2nd or latest edition tiles for all of three seconds. The Grim Darkness of the Future Past shall live on. :)
i left my 1st ed spacehulk, deathwing and the other one back in the UK@@edpaintsminis , so only have 3rd ed. its just not the same. The Grim Darkness of the Future Past is just the peak, and its been sliding down into normality ever since.
It was a rare sight to see the Marines win back when we played it as kids. Good game and keep it WEIRD!
I do my best.
You still make the most engaging battle reports. Good fun.
He trusted in his wargear. From such games 28mm miniatures become heroes.
That introduction was a glorious hit of early '90s nostalgia.
This is everything my 12-year old self wanted when I drooled at an unaffordable Space Hulk box set at my local game store back in the early 90’s. Thank you.
30 years later and it’s still unaffordable 😂
Absolutely amazing! Love seeing a Space Hulk battle report, and honestly one of the best ones I have seen yet (trust me I've watched them all). I thought that the Marines were doomed halfway through. 😱
Thanks so much! I completed almost every scenario and campaign I could get my hands on with Tom a few years back. Some of the most wholesome and memorable gaming I can remember.

Brother Darius is a legend!
I hear that he is actually two space marines in a single suit of armour. 💪
That’s the best Space Hulk battle report I’ve watched on RUclips (and I’ve watched a good few!). Good work. I hope you do more.
Thanks so much! It was quite a bit of work - 40k batrep is likely to be the next one!
That was easily the best battle report I’ve ever seen! The image of the genestealer swarm in turn 9. Wow!
What a game! I was on the edge of my seat. And that intro/outro is terrific, I love me some FMV.
Thanks so much - I owe it to White Bat Audio and the wonderful FMV and live action stuff from Gamesworkshop's days of yore.
The Emperor protects ! What an epic battle. Loved the atmosphere, the narrative and the action. Please run the complete Deathwing campaign...
That would be quite an undertaking!
This was the coolest battle report I have ever seen of Space Hulk.
Thank you so much - Not the most crowded of markets, but super pleased you think so!
This channel is underappreciated
Le meilleur rapport de mission que j’ai vu ! C’est super bien filmé avec une jolie table! Les commentaires sont top et le montage vidéo parfait! Merci et hâte de voir les prochaines missions!
Space hulk bat reps, a glorious thing to witness
Thanks for that , was a great reminder of how tight the rules were in this game
Excellent battle, Space Hulk is always worth waiting for.
Ezekiel absolutely malleting them there!
Greetings my Lord! I really enjoyed thus one. I played a lot of Space Hulk back in the day. I have a set of the original metal Terminators, and they and the old plastic Terminators still serve in my Space Marine armies. True veterans indeed! Thank you, all the best from Billi.
Cheers Billi! Glad you enjoyed it! You're very fortunate to have those classic metals - beautiful sculpts.
Go Darius Go!
So good! The blips seem genuinely terrifying as he moves them lol
Cheers sandman! It was lots of fun to film. Loving your content and so awesome to see your channel go from strength to strength!
Man, what an incredible game. Awesome announcer work, I could honestly watch these as episodes of a greater show.
Simply put this is the best thing I’ve seen in a long while.
Cheers Rob!

Awesome watch, despite playing 40K since 96, never played or watch a game of Space Hulk, need a rerelease now! Thank you
More space hulk content please! You are delivering your batreps concisely and effectively & it really suits the clutchy nature of the game :)
This was cool. Space hulk is such a thematically cool game.
This was amazing! Ive been playing 2nd ed space hulk this winter, what a great game
That was sooo good! The music and the old school models really hit me in the heart.
Thanks for this, liked and subscribed!
Thanks so much and welcome to the channel! Glad you found it!
Man, what an exciting game! Thanks for uploading this, really loving your vids!
Outstanding game! The tension was palpable, the whole thing felt cinematic. Loved it right up to the last moment. Great stuff
Never seen the terminators ever win one of these, nice work!
new terminators are OP
Yeah. Space Hulk never really took off at my store due to too many bleak outcomes. Sure you can blame the dice. But players at my FLGS just got discouraged early. A shame really.
Thanks for the spoiler my guy...
@@don_bernacz Maybe instead of doomscrolling you should watch the video instead
@@TheKsalad I'm not doomscrolling, you're the top comment, and on mobile it just shows your comment. I accept your apology
Fantastic report. Love 1st ed Space Hulk. Still a fun game and Deathwing is a great expansion. More, please!
We'll have to see...:)
Space Hulk really was that awesome. Very good video about a very good game.
I really like how you narrated this. Simple, short, and thematic! Great job!

Really enjoy these retro 40K minisodes!
Really enjoyed this - a very dramatic game for both sides, and the mini’s looked great!
amazing battle report yet again!
This is my first video of yours that i've watched and Brother Darius killing those 3 Genestealers at 17:58 earned my subscription.
Just added that captain to my collection. Lovely model
One of the first models I ever had - so evocative.
An absolute blast, fantastic production!
Probably the best battle report I have seen, makes me want to try space hulk!
Recommended. Such a good game.
Easily earned a sub guys. Brilliant stuff! Spectacular models and committed storytelling!
Thank you for posting this excellent battle report
absolutely wonderful video, i find myself rewatching these over and over
Loved this! The growing terror of the genestealers was amazing. And your video production is too notch!
This channel is made with so much love and soul, that I could feel warm fuzzy nostalgia when opening another video.
And I've played 40K only during 6-7 ed, for I'm too young to have witnessed OldHammer myself!
That was extremely well made and... actually very cool. Loved nostaligic touch. Stayed and watched everything instead of cooking dinner :)
More space hulk! I swear I’ve watched this about 20 times
This is excellently put together, great work! Hope to see more like this =)
What an amazing game! Thanks for sharing. Space Hulk blew right past me when it originally came out. I'm not surprised they go for so much online. That games is a blast!
An absolutely brilliant Battle Report! Thank you!

Excellent content! Gripping battle, tense combat, and plenty of explosive heroics
I absolutely loved this battle report you have a way of reinterpreting what happens on the board into a gripping story. It would be cool if you did a series with this squad or something
wow! great game! excellet battle report. Thanks!

That you guys, that was really entertaining, wonderfully engaging to follow along and fantastic narration
Cheers! It was a lot of fun to play.

Such a great game! Ezekiel went wild and Brother Darius too! Absolutely loved watching this and can’t wait to see what is up next!

Such a great game! Curse those dice! Barrels is truly the Emperor's chosen. Keep those videos coming!
