      There are agents eyeing him everywhere 😂 . All it takes is charismatic enough coach/manager to convince him to come over , this is a young potential player ready made to groom him in the best league to expand his skills . I see him like a young Michael Jordan when the coach/manager beach him cause of injury with the hits he took in the NBA early years .

  • @BarnabyBaltimoron

    I was curious to know when Sasaki might come to MLB. I read this... “Under the current agreement, players who are younger than 25 years old (or who have fewer than six years of professional experience) are subject to the international bonus pool system that also applies to true international amateur free agents (e.g., the teenagers who sign each July 2). That policy greatly limits the signing bonus potential of these players.” With that said, Sasaki is a true competitor, so I could see him wanting to play against the best competition, more so than a big payday. Although, he has some seriously deep connections to family in Nippon, after everything they’ve gone through. An international stage in the MLB will be the best way for him to showcase his talents and bring more fans to his remarkable talent and story. Love your videos!

    • @jjabrony1973
      @jjabrony1973 2 года назад +12

      Shohei Ohtani decided to go to the majors at age 23 where he was paid about $500,000 plus $2.3mil international pool money bonus. If he had waited until age 25, he would have been signed as a free agent instead and would have very likely gotten a $100-$200 mil contract right away. He didn't want to wait. He knew the money would come eventually but he wanted to face the best in the world. Maybe Sasaki will think about doing the same.

    • @uchikoshi-TL
      @uchikoshi-TL Год назад +5

      @@jjabrony1973 It's quite different with Ohtani though, Sasaki was rather iffy about his MLB aspirations during high school, while Ohtani actually told all the NPB teams that he had no intention on signing with them had they selected him in the draft. Nippon-Ham and their manager Kuriyama somehow convinced him that signing with them would actually be a shortcut to a major league roster while developing him as a two-way player, so in a draft where round 1 picks are done in a lottery fashion, Nippon-Ham drafted Ohtani without competition as no other team even bothered construing this plan.
      What this means is that Ohtani was very adamant as a high school kid to go to MLB regardless of the consequences, and Nippon-Ham got him to sign with him with under the agreement that his time with the team would be to develop as a two-way player that would actually play both ways in the majors, something that probably would not have happened had he signed with a MLB org at age 18. This is in contrast to Sasaki, who had not made his MLB aspirations clear until becoming pro.

    Nice to see him catching the eyes of baseball fans in the west. I watched him during HS, and knew I was watching something special. As a pitcher, I’d say he’s probably better than Ohtani and on the same level as Degrom. This man is gonna be fun to watch when he comes over. The one caveat is that the NPB has more grippier baseballs and are more consistent with manufacturing them while MLB seems to alter their balls depending on whether they want more or less hits/HRs and have less grip on their balls. Hopefully, this doesn’t hinder him too much when he comes to MLB.

I now believe there should be a world series that includes Japan baseball and any country that wants to play! make the play offs best out of three and the series best out of five. there s just so much talent the world does not get to see. the money would be greater through advertising and TV contracts. I have never seen a player like the Japanese young man who can beat you with pitching of with his bat , he plays for the angels I think, reminds me of the last big leader who could do that babe ruth . oh the angels also have american baseballs best all around player Mike trout.

    This has happened many times and absolutely nothing can be assumed or theorized until a pitcher has played at least 1 full year in major leagues. No matter how good a pitcher is they will be facing unbelievably talented hitters every day. Hitters that will learn and formulate strategies for such pitchers as they face them multiple times throughout each series and season. The next factor is consistent performance under spotlights of sold out stadiums, packed with unforgiving die hard fans. Lastly, is the money because though it's obviously great to be getting signing bonuses and bi-weekly pay direct deposits of more money than most people make in an entire year there is great stress for both the potential of and having access to money like that.

    I think it would be really cool if he stayed in Japan. He's probably getting paid good money there. He's living well you must think. That would be really cool never mind the fame and fortune he and just stay there still play still make money and be home

      Good money yes. But not even close to what he could make in the majors. Plus, the major leagues are harder. When you have a competitor, they want to compete at the highest level.

    Well, Roki is still ripe and his fielding abilities can be doubted sometimes. Hope to see him in the MLB soon.

      I could care less about his fielding ability as a pitcher. First people need to put the ball in play, and it seems his contact to bat % is low. Second he doesn’t need to be Greg Maddux on the mound. I’d take an ace posting a 2.5 ERA, 12k/9, 1.3 walks/9, opposing BA of .170, a whip of .87, nasty secondary stuff, and a cannon for an arm over a gold glove pitcher 😂😂😂.

    I love him, but I'm worried if he comes to the MLB and good hitters hit his ball, it will destroy his confidence. Hoping Roki doesn't beat himself up too hard over letting runs understanding that he is blossoming into a legend.

    he has arm trouble this is the reason they don’t pitch him in these big situations or limit him . also can’t count Japan against MLB stats if that is so I have seen pitchers get all their outs in a game with strike outs i have seen it happen twice that’s not a world record

    Thanks for the content. But you're missing one key factor, or really what most people fail to consider. And that's the effect/impact these shifts will have on him, assuming they get unbanned past 2023. So it's not just a matter of ERA and whatever shift the manager decides to use that alltogether maximizes a player's potential. No, no, depending on what shift they use will greatly impact his ERA. I know that sounds like smart ask answer, but unfortunately, the reality of it is that the shifts used in major league baseball are not meant to supplement a pitcher's true potential or ability. The fact that you're shifting on the ability of the hitter over pitcher is one. Second, even if shifts are based on averages, they don't suit every pitcher. Third, and going back to the first point, the shifts you see nowdays much less encourage weak contact (which is what makes a good pitcher aside from strikeouts) and rather encourage hard hit contact. So the defense/shift is essentially tailored to captilaize on a pitcher's mistakes. That is why they shift up the middle and on the grass, for fear of what the hitter can do than unfortunately, the ability of the pitcher to fool the hitter or induce weak contact on a consistent basis. So it's a fool's paradise. I hope Roki can make it through, aside from 2023. Much less to do with hitters complaining about the shift (even though they do have a point to an extent) and rather on the ability of the pitcher to influence where the ball is hit over the hitter. In fact, if you were to create a shift that was based on fear via what hitters are capable of, you would use the shifts we see today. If you create a shift that was actually based on the ability/potential of the pitcher (which is what it really means to be a good pitcher in the first place), you would not shift your defense in a way that promoted or capitalized on your mistakes; it would be more like a straight up shift but not the extreme ones. Best of luck to him though.
