      The 6 pillars transform your relationships with toxic people. You don't attract their toxic ways of being. And you can be clear and conscious. I don't need to stay away from toxic people because they know that they need to treat me with respect.

    I want to love this but it lost me on the 5th pillar... Why is it that we have to be entrepreneurs to live purposely? What is this passion for bashing those of us that keep the world running? Do nurses live without purpose? What about the person you buy your chai latte from in the morning? Is there no chance that they enjoy the smiles of the people they make drinks for a love their jobs?
    Some of us are not cut out to be entrepreneurs, just like we are not cut out to be warriors... and the world is a better place for it. Be thankful next time your bin is emptied that there are people who are getting up and doing what needs to be done. I am certain that it is possible to do a "day job" and still live with purpose!

    • @criss5405
      @criss5405 8 лет назад +67

      +Heather Hudson It's a good point, I think we need to find our purpose and be in alignment with that. For some, that might be to practice as a nurse, or as a clerk, or else.

    • @Bism_illaah
      @Bism_illaah 8 лет назад +104

      That's a beautiful message. It's true sometimes it can come across as entrepreneurs have some sort of superiority complex which is self-esteem gone wrong. But I'm sure in this case the example of entrepreneurs was merely an example.
      Even a nurse, who purposefully cares for a patient, willing to make a positive change in someone's life is practising purposefully. I think it's more to do with intentiality than the profession. It may be that for an entrepreneur they're fighting for their life so if they don't behave purposefully they'll get slaughtered (warrior example). Thus this is cultivated quicker.
      But likewise a nurse who works hard at her art, doing things with the right intentions and not merely out of habit but with a purpose, the nurse is immediately providing and benefiting people in ways the entrepreneur may take years to.

    • @Enidehalas
      @Enidehalas 8 лет назад +80

      +Heather Hudson Good point, but don't mix cause and effet. He took the example of entrepreneurs because statistically, a gooood portion of them is doing it because they follow "what they want to do" (some do it just in hope to get more money without any purpose). But that doesn't mean others can't do a "salary job" without purpose. Your nurse example is perfect. Same with hospital doctors, masseusse, pilot/steward, fisherman, IT tech, engineer, karate instructor and so on... ANYthing can be done with a purpose. And not only in jobs, but in everything in life.
      Again, we are talking about jobs because it is easier to get "sucked in" a job (just for money to live) that has no purpose. That doesn't mean nobody can have a purpose at your job
      Entrepreneurs have a free environnement that they can shape themselves, but if you can find something with a more structured environnement that has all you need, go for it! (in fact, it may be better for most of us)

    • @klingest
      @klingest 8 лет назад +33

      +Heather Hudson I don't think he meant entrepreneurs in a physical sense. It is about living your life with a purpose. To do everything you do, because you love to do exactly what you are doing. Then it will shine through to your personality. You will be good at what you are doing, people will think that you are good, and you will be happy.
      That is kind of, what a successful entrepreneur is doing. But you could be nurse too.

    i know you have a gf but you are a good person. thank you for these videos. i grew up homeless (actually homeless) and parentless, as feral as they come, and your videos save my life. although I went to Brown I don't know how do things like normal people. anyways thank you.

    • @abhishah7139
      @abhishah7139 8 лет назад +16

      If you grew up homeless and alone, I believe you being here today is in itself big thing.
      And I must dare to say to you, don't try to be normal. Its very similar to leaving your own comfortable house to live with your normal people under a single roof. think about it. You have to sacrifice lots of things, adjust to the needs of people and you just cant be you. Yes, initially it might seem fun, but soon the magic fades away.
      In the same way, I highly suggest you to not try to waste time in 'fitting in'. Work on yourself all the time and make a purpose of your life that people would try to 'fit in' with you.
      Wish you a great life ahead.
      Kudos
      Abhioxic.

    I'm 56... Things went wrong in my life.. I use to have high self esteem.. but I messed up.. made big mistakes.. took wrong paths... ALL MY OWN FAULT... this is why I have low self esteem... Maybe these 6 pillars would work when I was younger.. but at my age things are different and I wish it wasn't. I have no skills anyone wants to hire.. I have no experience that anybody wants. I am overweight because I gave up... gave up on life. I do have physical problems.. I have bad sciatica that causes me pain just to walk to my car. I have Meniere's disease and slowly going deaf. I work for 10$ an hour because I spent 22 yrs in a career that died and nobody needs me anymore. I spent 2 yrs without a job trying to get back to what I once was.. and it never happened. I'm a loser... no matter what I do.. I fail... No woman wants a loser... I haven't even touched a woman in 7 yrs.. and the longer I go the more I feel that women don't want me. I tried everything to change this...I even moved to a larger city to try and find some kind of life. I tried dieting and working out.. I have depression and no energy..... I am messed up... and see no future. I am poor, alone with no family, never had children, no woman wants me, no friends.. I spend all my time Alone...waiting to die.

    Excellent stuff, thanks for doing these videos. I hope your channel gets more popular. I also like your name - I truly hate mediocrity and try every day not to be mediocre. Let me ask you something - do you do these videos to help others, or to really revise the concepts from each book, so that you really internalize them? Probably both - win win situation :)
    Keep it up

    • @FightMediocrity
      @FightMediocrity  9 лет назад

      CosmosVII Hahaha, good question lol. It's funny because I've probably learned more from this channel than anyone else. It's also funny because you will basically never see me try to change anyone's mind on anything (unless I can tell they're part of the maybe 5% if we were to be generous, who will know how to accept it). But it's a little different when you have a channel, and it's actually amazing. The only way you can change someone else is if they decide they want to change. With the channel, I don't have to impose myself on anyone (I'm too busy changing my own life), but everyone's already looking for change and improvement themselves. So it's really awesome. It really is a win-win in the end though like you said. :)

      Hi Manny ! I think everyone has responsibilities but not everyone is managing them good so their life screw. People are thinking just about the problems they have and not about how to manage and solve them so they can have better life. You said 20 years old? As I can see this 20 years old guy is giving examples from his own life experiences with with support of his OWN review of the books that are read by thousands of people. The main problem is that people can't accept that someone is better then them. P.S. His work is not maybe aimed to people your age, so just move on :) Find something that can help you if you are looking for help, which is sure because you step here to watch the video :) All best !

    How does building up low self esteem because of depression work? It seems to me that it just makes it a hell of a lot harder!

    so in reality.... the moment i started working on myself being better with women in general... is the moment i started decreasing myself esteem. Cause now today i can't even relax around women anymore, constantly thinking there will be a shit test....
