I think this is my favorite video on the A3C you have made. And when I saw it today (after deciding to buy the A3C) I thought I was going to have buyers remorse. But actually your ability to break this down into such great use cases actually gave me confidence in my purchase and the case I ordered with a hand strap.
Again compliments for your videos, which are clear. I appreciate much your statements based on facts and not only on subjective opinions. I would be interested in some suggestions about templates for daily planning, to do lists, MOMs. Thank you in advance!
I know there are planners out there that you can use. My Deep Guide sells a detailed planner every year that's probably worth checking out. I know there are other sites that sell them as well. I think I recall seeing that on Etsy, believe it or not. I generally don't use those myself, and would probably be more likely to create my own unless I thought it was too much effort. You can do that by creating what you want in Word and then saving as a PDF. So there are some options to explore.
Adding on to that, im curious how the Marvel Unlimited app would look like, if you open up a comic from there :) Thanks for all the great info and all the work and time you put into these videos!
I know, it got bumped by over a month. It's already recorded, I just need to release it when I'm not doing a 3C video. I'm expecting to release it by the end of the month. However, next week I'll release a video comparing the 3C to the Supernote, among other devices, and will be making the case of why I use the Supernote at work. So hopefully that will hold everyone over until I release part 2.
I was sold on the 3C - until I saw reviewers paging though PDFs and comics. The bright flashes between the pages is extremely annoying and also seems to negate the eye-saving aspects of an e-ink display. Do you have any comments about that?
Yes. I know exactly what you are referring to. I don't mind screen refreshes, but I don't want to see them cell by cell or page by page. I find that quite annoying. There could be a few explanations for what you are seeing, but my guess is that the comics were being read in HD mode. That mode causes a full page refresh with every change of the screen. I use Fast instead, and that has no flashes at all. The tradeoff is that each flash is eliminating any ghosting, so not having the screen fully refresh means there will be ghosting. I find the ghosting to be acceptable, and when it isn't, I initiate my own screen refresh by swiping up on the screen (that gesture can be set up in the system settings). I find that ghosting mostly lives in the black bars of comics, which I can just ignore. It does appear in images as well, but I have a tolerance for that which means I'm not refreshing the screen that often. If you look at part 4 of my 3C series, I have an 8-minute section where I look at comics. So you should be able to get a sense of the ghosting there and if you can tolerate it or not.
Would love to see how it does reading large PDFs. I'm considering this or the new Ultra C Pro and use case is 80% writing (with pen) and 20% reading PDFs.
How well does the stylus work with SketchUp or any software that detects the stylus on Windows using the Spacedesk app? (It doesn't work well in Paint, but there are some software programs that do recognize the stylus). And how about the Obsidian app with the Excalidraw plugin (which is used for note-taking with the stylus and embedding it in Obsidian notes)? These two things run slowly on my Note Air 1; do they perform more smoothly on the Note Air 3C, or is there still room for improvement? Thanks for your videos and for listening to the community.
I don't have SketchUp but I did try Spacedesk with OneNote. It worked but featured a notable delay. At least that was consistent, but it wasn't great. I have to admit that I'm not familiar with Obsidian. I did a bit of research and did install the app and add in the Excalidraw plugin, so I can confirm that both work. For example, I was able to create shapes easily enough without a notable lag. But really, I'm just not well qualified to comment on the apps' performance given that I was pretty much just fumbling around. It seemed fine, but what do I know? For better feedback on this, I'd put a post on r/Onyx_Boox in Reddit. I know there are Obsidian users there, so I'd expect someone to respond to your question there.
Can you elaborate on what you are looking for? I don't think a Boox tablet will help your handwriting skills any differently than writing on paper will, but I may not understand your question.
Hi Jeff, Thanks at lot for your videos. Does the Boox Note Air 3 C heat if we watch videos on internet for hours(not few minutes)? appreciate if you could test personally and share the results. Thanks
Ok. I ran a video for almost two hours on RUclips. I had the audio at about 20%, the video was running on about 40% of the screen since I had the device in portrait mode, I didn't have any front lighting on, and the ambient temperature was about 66.9 (F) in the room. After an hour, the device felt a bit warm on the back, but certainly not hot to the touch. Strangely, at the end of the two-hour video, the device seemed cooler, with ambient temp. at 67.1. The video played fine (relatively speaking) throughout. The device handled this fine overall. Even the battery drain was less than expected. I thought I'd see 40% drain, but I saw 32% instead.

The 3C is a solid device. You got a good one.
your reviews are the most thorough one can find on these devices, bravo 😉😉😍😍🤗🤗

Thanks for the video! It is very insightful. I will receive my device next week.
Hope you enjoy it. If you end up thinking I missed anything or should have had a different emphasis, let me know.
Thanks, Jeff 🍻
Hi,
is it possible you could test the "perfect viewer" comic book app?
Regards
I'll take a look at that.

Hijacking with an off topic to humbly ask for that Supernote part 2 video❤

How is the reading experience with Libby and Hoopla? Apologies if you addressed this elsewhere. Thanks for the great video!
I'm not sure about Hoopla, but Libby works great.

How would you define a large PDF? Will an 80-100 page document work, or are you looking for something larger than that?

Please do a video on how to improve handwriting with Boox tablets. Are there good Android apps or Boox Apps/Templates?
