- The Long Ride to Milford Haven! (26/03/22). I've ridden this route as far as Cardiff plenty of times now, but this is the first time I have stayed on the service all the way to Milford Haven. And what a beautiful day to do it! :)

Getting up at 2 and walking for 2 hours? You are dedicated! My wife and son went by train from Inverness to Norwich today. Loved the film G, great positivity as always!
Oh my word, you're on my doorstep!!!! I live not far from Milford. I don't envy that journey, it can be, and usually is a nightmare, especially for locals here, Transport For Wales out here can be shocking!!!
Done Milford / Cardiff return 3 times. Beautiful scenery from Swansea to Carmarthen. BUT the Milford train was cancelled 3 times. Absolute nightmare all times. The class of train from Carmarthen (when I eventually made it to there) was a mini bus! Great video, enjoyed it.
Best 8 minutes of TV on a Tuesday night.

Did Crewe to Swansea on the way to Tenby from Stoke on Trent, 2 coaches absolutely rammed , was dreading the return a week later, could not believe my luck, a loco plus 5 empty coaches, happy days. Great video.

I like your new glasses! Great long ride down to Milford haven especially on a pretty 158. The scenery and weather was amazing. Did you make your train home?
Thanks Sam! I made me train home, stayed awake the whole way and then stayed up pretty much all night then went out filming again 😂😂

Nice ride TfW 158830 was actually the first 158 i ever rode on in their fleet back when it was with ATW
I don’t like their 158s as the air conditioning on their units never work and they usually use their 175 coradias on the Milford haven route so it’s odd seeing them use a 158 express sprinter unit

If I was a manger of network rail or whichever I'd offer you a job riding around all day assessing platforms trains service etc ..
Growing up.in Milford Haven I got used to having to travel for ages to get anywhere. I remember that I used to be a 9 hour coach journey to get to Milford from Nottingham when I was at uni.
Loved the bit on Gelliswick beach, great childhood memories.
Another great video. Can't beat a long scenic train journey. Also surprising how long the Cardiff to Milford Heaven section takes in comparison to Manchester/Cardiff. Respect the early starts and walking. It's definitely worthwhile to get out on the trains.
Discovered this Welcome to my town I live near Gelliswick and worked at the Yacht Club for many years and still enjoy a dip at the beach. Great video
Rode a few TfW 158s last Saturday on the Cambrian Coast. That line's well worth a trip!
2am start? Now that is dedication - I don't think I'd be as cheery as you are if I was up that early! Those 158 noises are so familiar to me up here - keep hoping to get one of the ScotRail Class 43s every time I'm getting a train, but it always ends up being a 158.... Not that I'm really complaining! Those views on the journey are super!
I used to do that when i had trouble sleeping, esp in the summer months with the daylight hours. I had no problem with it. The coppers did, mind, when they saw you. Went through the 3rd degree a couple of times with them, which is fair enough, i suppose. Did'nt think so at the time, after getting searched, like.
Just watched this G. Very enjoyable. Some surprises. Blue sunny skies in England in March? Milford Haven? I had to Google look it up! And a week off work? As what? No need to of course say where.

£25.70 for a ride from Manchester to Milford Haven, I honestly cannot disagree on the price for a six hour journey, I agree that worth the price. Also cannot disagree in riding the line while the recent warm weather we had during the past week (or two when this vlog goes public) But finally you can kick that journey off your bucket list, nice vlog G!

Well done you G great video you looked good as usual. The longest train journey I tried was from Penzance to Glasgow after eight hours on the train got off at Preston and visited Blackpool instead stay beautiful xx

You did very well not to fall asleep on that train ..those trains are the cosiest and most comfortable on the network, especially when the heating is on! Loving the glasses look btw!

G have you ever traveled First Class with Lner from London To Newcastle? My family and I have done this route lots of times and The Trains and the Lner Staff just make this Journey so special.

I think that Milford Haven train used to run from Liverpool? I caught it to Newport when I went to friends in Bristol once. It is a nice run.

My favourite Day Ranger is your Lancashire Day Ranger, however. Next time we're in the UK it looks like we'll have to do your Long ride to Milford Haven. We've never been to Wales. Great video. I can empathise with the early start and sleep deprivation, my last attempt to do some of the Harz steam railways started with a 2:10am train from Cologne, after a couple of hours pottering around the riverside with Mcdonalds coffee in hand. Fun though!

I've done it Piccadilly to Swansea once, normally Piccadilly or Crewe to Newport, and once Swansea to Fishguard Harbour and Tenby to Pembroke Dock,
You are very brave traveling 6 hours on the transport Wales service and to have a seat it's a nightmare sometimes traveling on the valleys services but travelled the heart of Wales line many years ago on a class 116 valleys DMU was a long 4 hours from Shrewsbury to Swansea 😆 needed the loo arriving at Swansea

Got on the train on Saturday to Millford Haven it was packed as hell. It was a nine o clock train on a crowded 2 coach 150.

wonderful to see you once again do one of my old regulars, last one was navigation road in Altrincham,,, an im from Shrewsbury i would often get that one or the Altrincham via Chester but that way was always a northen pacer with the old bus seats god i hated them things

Lovely line that G, only ever travelled as far as Newport on it although the day after on my return trip on a Saturday the train was diverted from Shrewsbury east through Telford and turned northbound at Wolverhampton to go up towards Crewe to resume the correct paving route

Longest train journey I've done was from Calais to Berne in Switzerland back in the 70s. Pretty sure we didn't change train and it was over 30 hours in length. We didn't have sleepers either so had to sleep sitting up.
Plus we had been stuck in a massive storm outside of Calais on a ferry for 4 hours which had even made the BBC 9 o'clock national news that day.

if I'm going to South Wales I always go from Yorkshire to Stockport and then pick up the South Wales services, as it is considerably cheaper than going direct though Birmingham.
