Hey Johnny, I really enjoy watching your videos. Its refreshing to hear someone talk about equipment without any brand loyalty. Right now I'm running a Grasshopper 325D with the 61" deck and a 25 horse Kubota diesel. I really like the cut. It's like just about every other mower I've used, shoots clumps in the morning dew ( I've had a few people tell me to experiment with different blades.) But it cuts the high stuff just fine, and leaves a nice finished product. I'm definitely not a deck expert, no idea how they work. As long as they cut the grass even and clean I'm happy. It's a very heavy built mower. I like the diesel engine, it seems really powerful even compared to the higher horsepower gas engines I've used and the thing sips fuel. Having to go to 2 different pumps for fuel is a pain in the a**. Also at $12,700 that's a bunch of mowing to pay for itself.
I really enjoyed this one! Thanks for addressing this. While I agree with you 100% on exmark decks, I am not as big a fan of Scag. I have not owned one but I have demo'd several. They just weren't for me I suppose. Three years ago we picked up a Grasshopper 223 with a 61" Duramax deck. It has really become the perfect balance of everything for us. It cuts great in all conditions with minimal clumping in morning dew. Throws great and has optional rear deck discharge which I didn't opt for. So much to the point that we picked up three GH 225s this past season, again with the 61" Duramax deck. As far as Walkers go, we had one years ago. I personally loved the machine. I did not like the third wheel line in the middle of my stripes much like you. We were able to purchase a kit from our dealer that eliminated that single wheel and converted it to dual wheels on each side that ran down the midmount tire's track. I found that the Walker eliminated a LOT of trimming for us. Because of the design and shape of the deck I was able to fit it in to a lot more places and save a lot of time. As far as the deck "not clogging much" I would have to disagree completely. When it was brand new it didn't clog much. As it got older and the plastic chute didnt quite line up as well as it once did, just from normal use a small amount of grass would catch on the lip then it was all over. More and more grass would catch on it until it finally clogged. Wet grass or leaves... just leave the Walker in the trailer! It could handle it but if you like getting in and out of a place... leave it behind. Mid summer, Walker is a winner, Spring and Fall... not so much. One thing I really enjoyed about it though was the ability to pin the deck up vertical during transport. Saved a lot of space for sure. If I had to run one mower though, it couldn't be a Walker. I have never tried any Toros but I have heard great things and am anxious to give them a shot. Thanks for this video. Really enjoyed it.
SCAG very heavy duty. I start cutting at sunset. The v ride is the way to go. Not so heavy BC the motor is in the middle. I never got that thing stuck. Also time is money. If you have a large lot that needs blown off. Put the blower on your back and go.
BOB-CAT is awesome. Their decks have the same design from the low end line of mowers up to the high end line. The only difference is the gauge of steel used. They have a unique baffle system that allows the grass to get out better. You can find all that information on their website. From a person that did a ton of research before buying the BOB-CAT, they are the best decks around. The Dura-Deck is the only one I will use. They do NOT clump unless cutting off about 7 - 9 inches of wet wet grass. I cut about 4 inches of wet grass and the bottom of the deck was completely clean when I got done. The grass comes out in fine pieces and not long blades. Very nice deck. If you want any more information just ask and I will let you know.
Johnny Mow It for sure throws 2.5 passes but in good conditions I can get 3.5 - 4. I run 51" decks because of the properties I mow. In a 60" you can get a couple of engine options with the larger being 31hp I believe, but don't quote me on that
I jut put in an order for a Pro Stance 48, I was at the dealer while the Gravely rep was there and he stated they were changing the decks on the 2015s to their X Force deck. He stated that they have been using a great dane style deck ( i guess they bought them out years ago) and just decided to put on the X Force instead of updating that older design. Hope that helps some. The X Force is the deck on their higher end zero turns.
This will be my first commercial mower, that's a lot more info that I can digest for now but appreciate your help greatly. I've tried many different brands at that price point this machine felt like it was an extension of my body and around my area that's pretty much what everyone's running.
The controls and ease of use was one of the things that sold me too. A guy about an hr or so away from me just bought 22 ProStances for his business, he has 3 locations/150 employees.
What about wright stander you didn't mention that in deck talk what do you like and dislike about those

I think you can solve the issue you talked about with the turbo force not picking up the blades of grass by closing the baffle down
The geek sent me over here, and yes you got the thing on decks something I just poo pooed, sort of. great description of different decks.

Great info on the walker and grasshopper

Excellent info. How many passes does it throw? What is your deck size with engine option?

Thank you this is the information I was looking for.
This is an interesting topic! I can't offer anything of value but I'm glad you brought up gravely I have my eye on the pro stance.

Yeah they had said that its due to the single hydro unit. When I compared to the vride it was way to touchey for me.
Loved the video
Deere s 7 iron pro deck is the best in the business. I also live in the north east . Maryland
I believe the icd deck gives a poor quality cut
