This is an ability I thinks gods should which is that a god or goddess is so powerfull they can change a d20
This is affected by how powerfull a god is, so a lesser god might only be able to do it some times and maybe only a little, while a greater god just crits and you a 1-5 unless you have a god on equel power on your side to help you

The Nazgul (Ringwraiths) are the riders. They rode Fell Beasts.
Would you recommend Theros for the beasties in general? Oath of Glory and College of Eloquence got repub’ed in Tasha’s so don’t need it for the subclasses. Now I’m already seeing use for the Ashen Rider in the late stages of my current campaign!
The Dracolich, Kollogoroth, summons one of these to act as his general or to carry out his personal grudge against the Company of Caenbry.

      You're the best.
But yes these make good nazguls
I'm sure some monster is a good substitute for the fell beasts

@@MonstersMulticlass there is a Fell Beast statbloc in Fizban’s.
Okay, just looked it up.. it's under "Dragonnel" but it's essentially a Fell Beast.

I used Ashen Riders once without knowing the lore and just came up with something lmao
Ashen Riders just kinda became angelic bounty hunters. They aren't fully fallen angels but they can't reenter Heaven, either.
So they hunt down actually fallen angels in hopes of being forgiven and being allowed back into heaven.

Honestly they're easy to make up your own lore for

@@MonstersMulticlass They're really cool stat blocks, though all the updates y'all suggested were solid and worth using.
Also, they give big Paladin vibes thanks to the aura and mount. So, if I run out of homebrew ideas, I might turn them into a Paladin subclass lmao

Reduce to ash is NOT a bad ability but it is circumstantial. Excellent counter for killing wild shaped druids or polymorphed wizards, it goes around temp hp and would be the go to move for hitting anything through the blade barrier while maintaining an effective 23 AC against ranged attacks.
I also like the idea of this as a miniboss for an Empyrean since the Monster Manual suggests the Empyrean can be neutral evil. Good executioner if anything.

Still only about 20 mins in, but I just realized the Thunder immunity is probably supposed to be due to the "aura of silence" ability, akin to how anything in the Silence spell is immune to Thunder (did that with my Shadow Monk to completely invalidate a close range Elder Tempest encounter)

Since this is a creature that escaped from the underworld a good set if dms want to make use of the turn to ash abilities is have a lot of undead creatures that reduce max hp that the party has to get through to get to this final encounter. So that their hp max goes down little by little each encounter and for the final one it is more feasible to get them to 0.
