  • Khalk'ru is a fictional extra-dimensional creature created by Abraham Merritt for his novel Dwellers in the Mirage.
This dark octopoid horror is worshiped as a god by the Uighur people who inhabit the Gobi Desert, and whose ancestors migrated to both Europe (giving rise to the Norse people and their legends of the Kraken) and to Alaska, where they settled within a hidden warm valley, unknown to the outside world.
ST Joshi in HP Lovecraft Encyclopedia, suggests that Khalk'ru, as an extra-dimensional octopus demon, may be an analogue to Cthulhu.

@cosmicandbodyhorror It is happening throughout the whole thing. I started listening yesterday and again today. Same problem. Sounds like skipping on a Cd. As if it is skipping several words at a time. Otherwise, it is a great reading and story.

W00t! A long one, nice! Abraham Merritt is a pretty good author. I've read two of his short stories, but had no idea he wrote a mythos tale.
I shall digest this one during my mandatory insomnia tonight.
