I know this is a small thing, but I like how PF have separated "beasts" like owlbears and hydras from "animals" like snakes and bears. It avoids that weird "monstrosity" category that is just way too broad.

Thanks for tempering the “it’s so easy!” hype about Pathfinder. It *is* interesting and powerful, but there’s definitely a trade-off.

I have loved every second of it. But people saying it's 'easy' are ignoring the time people want to spend thinking about rules.
I know it's gotten us some flack but every time we play we run into the same issues.
Rules the reference rules that reference rules.
Does it work out once you get all the rules? Hell yeah! But do i get a headache learning the system? Yep haha

@@MonstersMulticlass When first starting, my most annoying hurdle was how they use symbols to communicate what and how many actions an ability, spell or action uses. It would have been a lot more clear if they had just used the extra white space to just write out what the action cost was.

Every party member should grab an adventurers kit at character creation. Adventurers kits have torches. Torches can be used as improvised weapons doing 1d4 bludgeoning and 1 fire. So... every party comp had access to fire damage.

My party did almost tpk top a Hydra Last sunday. IT jumped our lvl 4 Party at night, one-shot my rogue and i was not able top get up after our Cleric healed me because of AoO.

The Hydra is one of my favorite monsters in PF2, so it was great to hear your impression of it (and yes, more hydra variants are coming in Howl of the Wild, so I’m excited for that!)
It should be noted that in Pathfinder 2, Attacks of Opportunity are triggered by more than just movement; they are also triggered by any ranged attack, or any action with the manipulate trait, which includes all spells with somatic components, Interacting with objects, and performing actions such as Battle Medicine, so the party REALLY needs to watch what they do around these things (my group’s Ranger almost went down for trying to Battle Medicine a teammate who was downed by the Hydra within its reach).
As for the accessibility of different damage types, the power of alchemy in the world of Pathfinder is very accommodating. Alchemical bombs like Alchemist Fire and Acid Flasks are trivially easy to acquire, as long as the party had access to some sort of settlement. And even if they don’t, a simple torch can do fire damage too.

I know this is smaller than Sand Worm, but I think Hydra is great candidate for mech fight.
