I love smoke bushes. I have the wine coloured one in my backyard, they love water too. It also is great because when its getting a bit too bushy in my smaller space I can trim it back and amazingly it bounces back with new growth and new leaves flush out, which is a bit brighter red then the older leaves. So pretty! I keep seeing the blush or peach toned one in yards, and they get more smoke blooms than my variety. I would love one of those but need to find a spot for it first in my already developed garden😊

I'm with you! I never understood people's distaste for hosta blooms. I work at a nursery, and at this time of year you can't go a single day without seeing dozens of hummingbirds in the hosta section. They love them. I get that the stems can be a little wobbly and messy, but I feel like it's worth it for the pollinators.

They provide cooling shade, absorb CO2, and release O2 as well as adding beauty to our neighborhoods, towns and cities. They do require upkeep and maintenance which can be an expense, but we need more trees, not fewer!

I love to see people planting trees in a world where most people are tearing everything down…..gives life for the future. We planted a ton of trees on our empty property and it brings so much character and shade to my home.❤

Tulip Tree: we had a tulip tree in my childhood home. It was such a beautiful tree and when it blooms it looks spectacular! Great choice.

I started planting trees about 35 years ago, when I was younger. At that time, all I had was full sun exposure and I couldn't wait to have some shade. Now, I have lots of shade and, you're right, it does make those areas much more user-friendly, but I miss the full sun areas lol I should be slowing down, as an aging gardener; instead, I find myself making plans to "re-vamp" certain areas, making them more age-friendly. Once a gardener, always a gardener!

We have a tulip poplar that one of our kids brought home from school as a tiny tiny plant. It is probably close to the 60 feet max height and growing. This year I've found small ones growing in some flower beds. I'll be transplanting them soon! Just love them!

I'm in Atlanta and tulip trees are abundant in my yard. They do get really messy. Many people around here have them cut down because of the mess they drop... I just love seeing how it's no big deal for you guys to plant so much in one day! It's truly so much fun!

I live in my childhood home. Over sixty years ago my father planted a row of Norway Spruce. They are now at least sixty feet tall. They have brought much enjoyment over the years and they make such a a wonderful backdrop for our gardens. I have managed to squeeze a good number of trees in the yard. I refer to it as my mini arboretum .
