I’ve watched GA for 3 yrs but this is my first comment. I just wanted to say that projects like re-using what you already have are like the broken fountain are the projects that impress me the most. I’m a 73 yo grandma & I don’t have access to a huge budget/help etc. So projects like this inspire me to look around at what I already have & use that! TY.

Yes, me too!! I have items I've saved over the years, just waiting for the right DIY project. I have two buckets of rocks just waiting to find a gabion to use in my garden! I may resort to making one from fencing or some old tomato towers I have.

Lynne here. I really appreciate that you are reusing something that is perfectly functional as a planter. In this throw away society and the need for perfection it’s tempting to go buy new. Well, just look at what you created……. It’s beautiful and I’m sure many of your viewers like me, enjoy these kinds of videos that inspire us to do something similar yet on a smaller scale. Bravo! very impressive Laura.

It could use a little bit of replastering, staining (like she already did) and sealing. It's only "trash" to them because they don't know how to maintain things like fountains or have too much on their plates to do more than cosmetic refurbing on it. It's not really trash at all.

I love everything about this project. I am one of those people who saves broken stuff that is still pretty. Giving life to the fountain again was just amazing. The stain, the plants you picked, the ground plants - all of it is perfect for that area. My sil passed away in 1999 and we had an angel statue at her grave. When my mil passed two years ago, we found the angel statue been broken in many places. We got new for her grave and I brought home the broken statue. I planted it with succulents and it is gorgeous. Now my sil has a granddaughter who is her namesake. I just bought some Snow White figures and a cottage. The plan is to make a fairytale garden for her granddaughter when she is at my house (we just moved my 89 year old fil here so we expect more visits now).

So when you first mentioned using the old fountain, I was excited and anxious to see it make the video project line-up. (By the way, "Bondo" would easily repair the broken concrete areas.) I used it last year and it was so stunning that I have used it again this year. It is the prettiest of all the coleus if you ask me. Does so well in sun and shade - but in sun...oh my - it gets huge. And it has this ruby color in the sun that is spectacular! More subdued in the shade. I CANNOT wait to see this one grow and mature. Gotta love repurposing things. That fountain/planter still has life! Love the boxwood/hydrangea/sedum/ coleus underplanting too!!

Hi~ Thank you for your comment. Once I read it, I realized I have the PERFECT spot to put a circular garden. I just had an old fire pit removed from the backyard. Once the ants are gone, I can use that area.😉👍 TY, again!🙋

I love the look of the fountain! It adds so much character from its flaws. Your flower pairing this year is top-notch. You do a beautiful job every year, but I'm particularly loving this season 💜

You are so amazing Laura! It was meant to be! The gray stain is perfect! I also understand you didnt want it too tall so you could still see the Hartley! The arrangement of flowers is beautiful!!! Carry on!

Gorgeous....loving this. I absolutely love your channel. I am 77 and you give me so much inspiration. Everything your mother, sister and you touch just turns out so lovely...........I can't say enough of how much I just absorb your knowledge like a sponge. It has assisted me in knowing different flower names and how to tend them and the light requirements they need..............you are an amazing teacher!
    Blessings !

I’ve been watching you for years and have never written a comment. I am just in awe with this project! Everything about it is stunning and I appreciate that you walked us through the staining process. I had no idea you could you this type of stain on concrete. Thank you for your daily post as I start my day with them.

As Windy as your area is do you really want a water feature in your awesome sitting/play area? Your planter transformation is fabulous!!! Great job, Laura, showing your audience how to repurpose and reuse! Beautiful!

Hi, Laura! First, I’ve been a loyal GA fan/follower for 7 years. You have been a tremendous influence in my garden which has in turn impacted my life in beautiful ways. Thank you 💚 Second, I agree, the scale is perfect! I have found that in my own home and garden designs that sizing in thirds is most pleasing to the eye. It looks like the fountain takes up 1/3 of the outer planting circle. Perfection!! 😃 Excited to see how things progress!

I love that you repurposed . I really admire how you and Aaron make each project with attention to all details. Staining the fountain was a step above. It turned out beautiful. I really like the wispy vibe. Another great project by Laura. Also I was really caught by surprise when you mentioned Benjamin going to school. Of course he is and I remember when you announced to this gardening world that you were pregnant..wasn’t that just yesterday. Don’t blink..you might miss something. They grow so fast.

This is by far the best planter you have ever done and has so much character !! I own a greenhouse business and design a lot of pots this is absolutely FABULOUS!! Never ever change it !! Fix that fountain if you can ! Oh and I love that you repurposed the fountain instead of buying a fancy new one !
