But if powdery mildew rears its ugly head again, I'll be ready! lol And if anyone needed it in approximate US MEASUREMENTS: 4.25 C water, 1 tsp neem, 1 tsp dish soap, 3/4 tsp baking soda. =)
Hi! I used hydrogen peroxide 3% to spray from powdery mildew. It works by burning fungus and spores with active oxygen and doesn't harm leaves Also, glad to see you back!
@@betsybegonia you can also spray top soil with hydrogen peroxide to kill or prevent mold from growing. Active oxygen can be beneficial for roots too. And as it degrades to water and oxygen, it is not toxic, so doesn't need ringing off
That bicarbonate of soda is a top tip, thank you! Next time I will remember to try that instead of skipping straight to the wailing and the gnashing of teeth.

Hey, I got one bit of info a little wrong, which was brought to my attention by @Its Minal: neem oil must be ingested by insects in order to affect their hormones and kill them. For this reason, it is not SUPER likely to harm pollinators since they are not eating the plants. However, one should avoid spraying neem oil directly on flowers which pollinators visit.
Neem oil smells bad, but it's a miracle worker! I've cured so much with it! My schefflera is fighting off recurring powdery mildew right now, but I'm worried it could or has passed to my begonia. My poor begonia is going through enough as it is with some serious legginess and an accidental case of too much neglect-I also just had to repot it, which I hope will help. If I can get it balanced, I'll probably prune and propagate, but I'm tryna arm myself against what might be inevitable. I think I've seen some on it, but it's not as aggressive as it is on my schefflera and previous Neem treatment kept it at bay.
My begonner I got in the mail last week developed some powdery mildew. It's mature leaves are gone now (also partially from shipping stress because the green house didn't send me a shipping notification, and the box sat in the 100 degree (F) Arizona sun for God knows how long). But there's some new ones so I'm hopeful! Thanks for the tips, Betsy!
Exactly as you described! Happy little plants living in the sub-tropics and then it started raining and got cold and AAAGH! What the heck is that all over my begonia!!!! Option one sounds very scary for begonias that will fry in the Queensland sunshine! Thank you, Betsy. Plants get rained on, leaves can get wet. You just don't want them to stay wet for a really long time--Begonia rex in particular.
