Great info! It's about time we finally get the CX-50 Hybrid. The lease on my 2021 CX-5 is up at the end of January, so perfect timing! However, the addition of Bose audio and ventilated seats to the Meridian Edition for 2025 makes my decision harder. I always balked at the lack of Bose on the Meridian, especially at that price point. Ventilated seats are icing on the cake. Decisions, decisions...

@@luigipapo234 They did it correct from the start in Canada. I never understood why the Meridian did not come with Bose in the US, especially for the price of the Meridian. I'm glad Mazda corrected that for the US market for this new model year.

Thank you for the update! My lease on my 2023 CX-50 Preferred Plus comes up at the end of November 2025. First, I had been thinking about leasing a 2026 CX-50 Select. More recently I have thought about buying the CX-50 Select because Mazda quality and reliability, and once paid off I don't have to continue to make car payments for a while (only when I finally decide to replace it). Then I heard about the hybrid CX-50. At first I was "meh" about it, but if I were to buy it instead of leasing it I would have more years for the better fuel economy to pay for the higher price, and after that it's all savings. Since it's the Toyota hybrid system I have no worries about quality (my daughter drives a 2015 Prius C which has been very good).
Meanwhile, I came across another RUclips video (GearheadDrive) talking about the 2025 CX-5. This one is the next generation model with major exterior differences. While the source didn't confirm I believe that this is for the Asian/Australian/European market. It is also going to have a hybrid model, and like our CX-50 hybrid this new CX-5 will also use the Toyota hybrid system.

I'm one of the first buyers of the 2023 CX50 here in Vancouver, Canada, and honestly fell in love with the drive and design. I could never find any in the class that is as fun to drive as the CX-50. I'm seriously thinking of trading in my GT Turbo for the Hybrid, but my concern is that since it's using the Rav 4's hybrid system, will the drive feel the same as the current CX-50? What do you expect, Jonathan?

Hybrids typically use an engine that runs the Atkinson cycle, which is more fuel efficient. The Mazda 2.5L does not run this cycle, so fuel economy would suffer if it was used instead. I also don't think Mazda's long exhaust header used with the SKYACTIV engines will allow enough room in the engine bay to add the two electric motors, planetary gearset, and electronics used in Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive.

My two biggest complaints are. 1) Mazda needs to use a real sunroof. They barely open. Im sure they haven't fixed that issue for the 2025 models. 2) the first turbo model is more than 10k more than the base model is crazy to me. I know there are more features on the turbos, but they could still offer it at least as an option on the 34k model. The cx50 and cx90 came out pretty close to the same time. Yet the cx90 has a more modern rear end, a real sunroof, and all turbo models. The cx90 starts out a couple thousand CHEAPER than the cheapest turbo cx50. I cant make sense of this. I want to love the cx50, but it seems all the love went into the look. Then they quit trying
