“I don’t think he had a good barber around.” Is one of the funniest comments I’ve heard in 21 years of Tool fandom. Thank you.
I really hope this reaches Maynard, he'll probably have a laugh too. lol.
I havent even watched the video yet-went straight to the comments and am 😂😂😂😂!
Yes indeed lmao. That laughter caved my chest in.
One of the best comments ever
lol! MJK would get a kick out of that 😂
"To remove the shadow, you'd have to remove light itself".
Woah, that is, exactly it. This wise man understood it right away.
I've been listening to Tool since the 90's and have really delved into the meanings behind their lyrics, but that comment blew my mind! Sir you've opened my mind to deeper and deeper levels of understanding here and I am honored. "To remove the shadow you'd have to remove the source of light itself..." thank you thank you thank you! You'll never know how much this comment has unlocked for me, having had my own issues with the subject matter. God Bless You Sir! ❤
Damn
Yes, I just came from the Danny Carey video and this man Abdul is incredibly insightful and open-minded. He gave me a new appreciation for a song I've been listening to for 30 years, which is truly a gift.
Or just light it up from all sides...
As soon as the first ray of light appeared, the first shadow appeared.

"it's such complex music but good thing you have someone like me today" -- the distinct cry of a new TOOL fan being born
Same guy: "Why did you stop it, sir?" - this IS one of Tool's shorter songs to be fair to him ;)
How do these guys understand the message but my parents couldn't? 🤣🤣
Preconceived notions locked in
@@whispersmith Hehe, my response was the other side of that coin. Some people know how to listen. To, with an open mind (and/or heart), let the idea sprout and take form, then inhabit it as it inhabits you, feel it out. Then make a decision.
@@JanjayTrollface i agree. i think its because these guys WANT to understand. they want to learn. i think too many people think they already know enough
When I watch these guys, I often think of Kashmir by Led Zeppelin. Wise men, untainted by the internet and biased news feeds.
@@haiasi8161
I think too many people think they know enough…that’s beautiful, and sad, because it’s true. Kids online, regurgitating bs they’ve read online, then it becomes their life’s goal…like Candace Owen’s said: life is tough, get a helmet. Born in 1968, I always knew your own
life was going to be what you, yourself did with it.
"There he is sir, Danny is there" - got me all emotional like he's seeing his friend all over again.
This channel is a golden example of using technology to better humanity.
we all are happy to share and receive it is our nature
"Why did you stop, sir?" Is what I say after every Tool song ends. I wish they kept going!
That guy joined the Tool army without knowing it lol.
"Even the moonlight casts a shadow" is so poetic
It is amazing how they immediately understood the way Maynard was presenting the song with his movements.. Wow! :)
As an autistic person (a long time Tool fan, and someone with a big interest in psychology) this was an extremely interesting video for me. Because of my autism, I am unable to read people and understand the emotions they're expressing. So while I have my own emotions while listening to the music, I wouldn't understand the emotions in the performance. So seeing these gentleman, who grew up and live in a completely differnet environment than I do, and not understanding the lyrics as they hear it, analyzing and understanding the song and performance was extremely beautiful to see. They are all so well spoken and philosphical. Thank you for showing them, and sharing their input with us ❤
That's the biggest reason that I've been watching for so long. I double majored in psychology and sociology so my interest in watching people is always coming from a psychological viewpoint. I can never get over how well they are able to interpret the meanings of these songs without knowing the lyrics. It's a beautiful thing that music can truly cross all boundaries including language and societal norms
We all can bring our own perspectives that others may not be able to see by themselves. As much as you appreciate their interpretations, I'm sure you'd have your own unique insights that someone like me may not be able to glean. Art really is a great medium to allow us to come closer to understanding each other as long as we are open to it.
I think they would appreciate "Reflection" from Tool a lot.
I don't think they can handle stinkfist lol
Yes. Good shout 👏
I was thinking it would be interesting to see their reaction to "The Grudge."
I was thinking about Triad!
Invincible has lyrics that I relate to even in my relative youth (creeping up on middle age) but I think it would resonate even more with these gentlemen
I love Muharam's passion for music in general. And he is so right about how impressive it is that Maynard can sing the way he does while contorting his body in such strange ways.
I love watching the face vocal coaches make when seeing his position lol
I still get goosebumbs when I see that concert.
Gets to me every time 😊
Not when I hear it. It sounds like it was recorded in a trash can. There are literally cell phone videos with better versions of this song. This version was recorded in mono and transferred from a VHS tape.
I think you guys don't want people to like Tool when you let your nostalgia for this version cloud the objective reality of how terrible it sounds.
The band themselves hate this recording.
when i hear it, it suddenly gets dusty in my house..
my eyes are bad with dust.
@@illuminahde Do you have a better version of it?
@@juilescieg Yes. Simply search on RUclips for Tool : Live Sober and listen to the Cell phone recordings people have. The sound quality is legitimately better.
It is criminal that this channel only has 249K subs. CRIMINAL.
This is a venture into anthropology as well as musicology in one place. Two heartbeats of the same drum that make us human beings.
"we all learn together" from your guest says it all...
Watching Abdul ji’s reaction always gives me chills. And the way he lays it all out so well. All of you guys are great!
They are all such wise men! I love what he says about even the moonlight casts a shadow…..that’s poem content!
Wow….excellent comments. I’m always moved by the depth of understanding these men share with us. And also by how Maynard’s performance can show its meaning to people of an entirely different culture.
This was wonderful to watch. Please share my thanks with all of them.
Thanks for the lyric breakdown , tool is multi layered. Welcome to the spiral. 😊 ❤
I’m an alcoholic, and I struggle with the desire to drink every day, even if I win the day.
This song hits home.
Thank you for highlighting this song, band, and issue.
All love 🙏🏼❤️
Life is alwats an uphill battle, at least i think i can speak for most of us on that. Youre never alone. Even if its just for today thats a win for the day. Please look for power in our creator!
I also share the same. I’m still active. I wish you well 😊
One day at a time!
A lyrical analysis of Lateralus would be hella interesting.
I enjoy talking to men of faith about the song Right In Two. It would be nice to see you gentlemen talk about that one.
With Intension as a lead-in, to get the full theme.
We all are dependent on this content because when you show something to someone for the first time, you may relive that first experience yourself trough the person you are showing it to. I crave for more😂
Thank you, and wish you all the best!
Abdul Aziz really understands TOOL, you can see it in his eyes when he watches.
I enjoy watching you all experience this song and the message in it for the first time ❤❤❤❤❤❤
"Even the moonlight casts a shadow
So you would not ve able to go out at night, too"
I'm sorry, credit where it's due, but I'm using that for a song.
Poetic yes
a vocal coach once reacted on the vocalist posture when singing, said it was unbelievable he could still sing so good whilest his posture was un natural to sing.
Props to these gentlemen for listening and approaching something so different from their norm with such open minds! The comments are gold!
This is my favorite band, and a really great song. I loved watching them react to the song and analyze the lyrics and the performance. The artists of Tool have long refused to elaborate on the meanings of their songs because they want you to interpret it yourself. So the way they engaged with it and delved into meanings was great. I think it's a tribute to the art if it intrigues you and compels you enough to think about its meanings. Loved the video!
Your channel/videos always hit me very hard. Growing up Pakistani (mostly in the US) I always felt so lost that no one in my family understood me or understood my music. Now I see these tribal people understanding feelings I felt growing up that these songs helped me with, but why couldn't my parents? It makes me sad but also gives me hope that things can get better.
I hope you continue doing this. I love watching your videos.
I am so happy all of you got to experience Tool! This is my favorite band because the way they make music is so different than anything else out there. Maynard makes sure his voice isn't the main show, he literally uses it as another instrument in the band. They write the music before the lyrics. And the lyrics, wow. Maynard has a wonderful way with words. They are so deep and creative and thought provoking. The band also uses different time signatures than other music as well. Tool is something different and special. I am so happy my favorite Tribal people get to hear my favorite band.
I love Tool, my favorite band, and I just loved this video. Show them Rage Againts the Machine! hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷
Thank you, sirs. Also be aware the addiction was probably heroin, which makes your skin crawl and feel itchy. I love your perspective, as always! God bless!
The beautiful thing about this channel is that it keeps happening... No matter our cultural differences, they're seeing and pointing out the same things we all see. So awesome and inspiring. Wish I could shake all these gentlemen's hands.
I was going to comment that too. We have so much more in common than what we realise - I love that this channel shows it.
These videos give me such a powerful inspiration to learn a new language.
I love this channel.
He's saying 'Mother Mary can you whisper' not Whistle 🤗
Thank you guys for being so open and for linking our different cultures! Thank you for your openness and kindness
Beautiful video, gentlemen.
I love these Tool reactions, keep them coming :) Great work, I love to see the angle, that your guests see these songs from :) Also, I wonder, after seeing this performance and understanding how deep Maynard is with his lyrics, energy and performance, do they still think a more upbeat singer such as Michael Jackson would be better suited to the band? :)
Beautiful. This is Divine work.
Always interesting, Trybal friends!
I fucking love these guys! This is now my favorite music site. Hands down.
I love your reactions to Tool! There will never be another band like them. Hope to see more Tool reaction from yall!
Maybe wanna try Pneuma again but the official audio with headphones. Such an immersive experience.✨✨✨
Saw Tool in concert in 1998 - Was an amazing experience. It's great to see you all exploring this in so much depth
Really appreciate seeing this! Happy to see Tool on the channel!
i love what you do, and i love the reactions! well done
Excellent conversation and insight as usual. You are wonderful people. Blessings to you all. Thank you
Nice. Love tool.
I really enjoyed this video, the review was impeccable.
Fantastic reaction. Love this channel, more Tool!
I waited for a quiet moment to watch this with full attention. I love your deep dive with this one, you have touched me letting them share this with me.❤ So wise and I bet Maynard and the guys would be chuffed, flattered and surprised.😅
I love watching this channel. I cannot express how thankful I am for the sharing of culture
Excellent vid, gentleman!
Much respect for how well you manage to translate the lyrics for the gentlemen in this video, it can be extremely tough to do, especially since the meanings themselves often don't fully translate over. Syntax is difficult, especially with languages with very different structures.
God i love Tool. And this channel yall are great!
I love these beautiful gems of human beings and their thoughtful comments and insights. There's so much incredible music for them to discover too the options are endless.
I’ve listened to this song dozens of times over the last 30 years. But hearing these gentlemen discuss it still somehow gives me new insight and understanding. Thanks to them for always being open to listen and broaden their perspectives. In turn, it broadens mine as well.
I really enjoyed the format of the video and was impressed with how easily the folks picked up on things about the artist/song given the language challenges.
Thank you so much for looking at this. I was one (of many) that asked for it. Please consider taking a look at the song "46+2" which speaks to mankind's next evolution🙏
Now, they have received the Mandatory Maynard.
Thanks for this =D
Muharam, Adnan and Abdul, I love you guys. Keep up the good work it helps bring us together 🙏💚
this made my heart melt as a drummer, thank you guys for all these words about drummers, I wish you a very peacefule live my friends!
I really miss old Tool. Undertow is their second best album ever. So underrated these days.
I've loved TOOL since 1991, and I am soo glad you guys did a song by them, I find the interpretations insightful and accurate to my views on this song.
Peace be with you.
Trybals, you’re doing something truly great for the world. Our cultures don’t define us, our humanity does. Your Mr. Rogers videos should be mandatory watching for world diplomats. Thank you all for sharing with the world.
The way he’s still able to sing with such force and his diaphragm is all twisted and bent is simply amazing.
Also the body language- as if he’s in pain.
Thank you sir
This warms me
Everything about this is wonderful!!! Tool are of wizards sonics and lyrics! Can't wait for Third Eye live and studio!!!! Perfection!! Thank you! 🙏🏻
"To me his music is a reflection of truth honestly" this is amazing to hear. Was cool to see how some opinions changed from the Pneuma performance. And your interpretation of the lyrics, while not exact, were able to capture the essence and translate it well to each of them who were able to understand very quickly. Super good video!
Awesome!! I’m so glad they enjoyed and appreciated the song. Great job to everyone! I wouldn’t be sad if they listened to more Tool/ A Perfect Circle. Thanks, Adnan!
Thank you for bringing these gentlemen and showing the world what your way of thinking is, they are all very wise, an affectionate greeting to them and my respects.
Maybe later, in some videos, you will also like to see and listen to music from Brazil, since it is very different and particular. Or also folklore from Argentina.
Best reaction ever, they nailed it
I love seeing how some things can transcend cultures. Tool is certainly one of the most talented groups of our time.
I appreciate this channel very much for giving me an insight to people who I will never meet in person. So much of the news is about hate and war between our two parts of the world and it is so tragic and sad. I imagine many of our core values are likely the same. I wish I could have one if not all of these men as a neighbor (I might need a translator though).
You should do Rollins Band - Liar. Great song, great video.
First, what a beautiful language. Pleasing to the ears.
Second, I love the different ideas from each generation.
Third, thank you for trying to relate to western music.
Would love to hear some eastern music and what it means to you all.
Great at interpreting the message.
its really nice listening to the elder's opinion. you will learn alot
I've watched a alot of your reactions and I love how all of you interpret the songs. You are so insightful and wise. I have a new appreciation for our Pakistani brothers. God bless you. I look forward to your next review.❤
I will be honest I do not really know the music of "Tool" so I was sharing a first time watching, too!
Check out the lateralus album, ideally in its entirety. Among their best
welcome to the wormhole...it goes deep
Hello sir, I am a longtime fan of your videos and diehard fan of TOOL. It is fascinating to see these gentlemen’s reactions to the previous video for Pneuma as well as this one- and I humbly ask you to please make a video of them reacting to the songs “Disposition” and “Reflection” as they have always struck a chord in me being a descent of South Asian culture born and raised in America. I am curious of how’d they’d react to the use of the tabla in “Disposition”and the very primal sensation I pick up when listening to “Reflection.” Thank you again for these videos.
Tool is my favorite band...never thought i would see these guys react to them
The apparently I will watch anyone do a reaction video about tool, but these guys are by far the most interesting. Listen to them takes me back and makes me remember why tool is so influential in my musical upbringing. They definitely have a more poetic disposition when describing the lyrics and their presentation
I love the villagers reactions! Great content fascinating 😊
The lead singer's mother's name is Judith Marie Maynard. Marie/Mary... A play on the holy Mary mother of Jesus, which he attributes to his pious mother as well. Cheers. Fun reacts. Thanks!
Their breakdown of the lyrics was amazing, my heart is moved
I've been waiting for them to react to tool 🔧
Tool has several very beautiful and deep songs, I think they would like some songs from the Lateralus album. I love this channel, I hope you keep up the great work ❤
Was a pretty big Tool fan growing up and never saw any live footage back then thanks to no RUclips etc. An impressive live performance, but not nuanced enough I think for the elders to properly get into and enjoy. I think more instrumental stuff would be good to see, highly recommend Rush's Xanadu live - I think the guys would be blown away by the talent on top of Geddy lee's incredibly high voice! Great video!
Man I hope you get them on Reflection, they're gonna love that one.
Awesome. From the seed planted by Maynard and the band, to Adnan giving the song water for the students to see and share the shade. Awesome! Peace/JT
more tool!
Now after seeing this one and the Pneuma drum cam video, I suggest showing them a video of one of the recent tours so they can see how they've evolved since that show. Just a thought.
It would be amazing to see Trybals react to Pagan Poetry from Bjork, the live version at the Royal Opera House. I think expecially mr. Muharam would really enjoy her voice, and the music.
Thank you.
MOAR
The man with the long beard is right. Without eliminating all light and being consumed by the shadow, you never hit your bottom and therefore never see any reason to resist the shadow.
One of the first things I learned in AA. There has to be a bottom for real recovery. Otherwise that shadow will whisper to you, 'You can do this on your own.' And back you go.
Wow am I happy they are reacting to TOOL.
Maynard was in the rage against the machine song "know your enemy" I would love to see their reaction to those meaningful lyrics and interesting sound.
Adnan, I love this channel and your music picks. Some day I hope you will show them Radiohead. Paranoid Android, No Surprises are a couple of my favourites from them with great lyrics, especially the latter.
