  • Medusa Steel Coaster at Six Flags Mexico is considered by many to be one of the best roller coasters from Rocky Mountain Construction. But do I agree? Not quite.

    Love your reviews and I love this coaster! I rode it in 2014 and it felt like a freaking rocket.

      @@CanobieCoaster I don't like the second lift hill and the green side is not as intense as the blue side. Just my opinion.

    They recently gave new trains to this and the slc. I've heard batman was smooth even with the bulky slc restrains, so maybe it runs like great nor'easter without the headchoppers. Apparently it's so smooth that some locals said the vests made it worse. As for medusa, the new trains are black instead of red-orangeish like the ones they were running before, I'm not sure if they are the same as the ones in newer Rmcs, but they do have 6 car trains, so maybe it runs better.

      I found the old trains on Batman rough anyway, so I'm glad it got new ones. Interesting that they may have gotten new trains for Medusa.

    I rode it in February of 2019. The most annoying thing about the park was that it was slow, one-train ops for every coaster in the park, so the lines felt like a Saturday in July, not a Tuesday in February. Medusa was a two-hour line, and I only got one ride, which was very frustrating.
    I also think that Medusa’s reputation has been exaggerated over the years, perhaps relying on the way it ran in its opening season. But I would also give the coaster a nine, and in fact I would say it’s mid-tier RMC, not lower-tier. For me the layout is just so fantastically fun.

      Six Flags Mexico can get some really long queues, so I was thankful the Flash Pass was only $10-15 USD.

      Canobie Coaster I have never done a flash pass in my life, but this was one of two occasions when I left the park thinking I probably should have (the other was at Cedar Point).

    I feel similarly with Twisted Colossus. Everyone ranks it sooo high but it's my bottom ranked RMC for a variety of reasons

      I'm in the boat that loves Twisted Colossus, but I don't mind the lift hill in between.

    I remember back when the coaster was just a wooden roller coaster named Medusa and it was on the Travel Channel's Insane Coaster Wars. It's hard to believe it won considering it was up against Superman: Krypton Coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. It was also strange considering that episode aired in 2014 which was a year after it finished operating as a CCI coaster. I am not sure whether this coaster did or did not need the RMC renovation, but it looks like a very exciting ride as it is now and that's all that matters to me.

    • @CanobieCoaster

      By all accounts, the RMC conversion is better than the original. The POVs I saw of wood Medusa looked slow at points.

      I got to ride the original Medusa and even though it was a pretty good ride with very nice pacing, it was insanely rough. You could maybe ride it three times a day, but you couldn't marathon it unless you hated your neck. Hybrid is so much better and you can ride it all day long.

    Appreciate the honest opinion. I rode Medusa in January this year and thought that it was running amazing. They were running both trains with six cars (both trains were Frankensteined), though the back row was roped off. It didn't have the strongest airtime of the RMCs I've ridden, but the pacing and variety of elements were what sold it for me. I ranked it 3rd of the RMCs I've ridden, behind Steel Vengeance and Lightning Rod.

      That's weird they had the back car roped off. And looking back at my 2018 photos, they had a Frankentrain there as well so that seems to be the norm for them.

      @@CanobieCoaster i have to ride that torture device at least 10 times a year, i think it got them after six flags reacquired them, but you should come back cuz ROS is hauling and has almost skyrush/el toro airtime now

    • @StamfordBridge
      @StamfordBridge 4 года назад +1

      Millennium Force Man ROS in the front row has great airtime. But I have to ask, why do you “have to” ride that SLC ten times a year? Btw, I’ve been on a whole lot of SLCs and that one for me is the all-around worst.

    • @CanobieCoaster

      I went to Darien Lake last year and got some great rides on Ride of Steel. I also got a stunningly good ride in the front row of Predator.

    • @StamfordBridge
      @StamfordBridge 4 года назад +1

      Canobie Coaster I have only ridden Predator twice, once in the front and once in the back. But given the two rides I got, it’s hard for me to imagine a “stunningly good” ride on that coaster. 🤷‍♂️

  • @joannwright783
    @joannwright783 3 года назад

    I can kinda understand why you have to be fatter to ride. I think the train’s design makes it so you are not secured in correctly if you are skinny because the restraint locks into place so far apart.

  • @teddym2808

    Sadly I still think it's running average.. Coaster Studios back row POV from 2 months ago feels so slow compared to one from 2015.. I mean I watched the recent POV and thought "hang on, why did I have this on my to do list"? Seriously. It feels slow even in the POV.
    Why on Earth would anyone think that VR on an RMC is a good idea. The mind boggles.
    🤦‍♂
