This is the first video in a longer series about making a versatile Workbench/Workstation. This project is especially awesome for small workshops but the general construction methods can be used for any size wood shop!

Hi Rodney, that company doesnt exist anymore. It was made by Elektra Beckum. However Metabo took over most of their product line and I think still makes it today with only minor changes.

Hey :D Mine is an "Elektra Beckum HC 260". It was made around 1990. The company doesn´t exist anymore but Metabo took over most of their stuff and is still producing it today. I bought it second hand. But there are many different makers of those machines. The prices vary from 800-2000 € depending on the brand.

Hi, nice project. I have 2 question, why have you chosen to laminate your board for the torsion box?
And what do you think about your jointer/ thiknesser
Hi, I laminated the boards, because its cheaper for me and because it should be less likely to warp or crack later.
As for my jointer/ thicknesser, I think its good for small shops, like mine, because it doesn´t need much space. But aside from that, its not always practical, because you can never use both jointer and thicknesser at the same time.
is it possible te use plywood instead of lamination ? (i don't have a jointer/thiknesser yet)

Yes it is, but plywood that thick, or lets say 30 mm instead of the 40 mm I have, would be very expensive. Maybe you can go to a local carpenter shop and ask them what they would charge for planing down the large boards for you, so you could prepare the stock (the first step of planing the thin strips is not 100% necessary). Then you can see what´s the cheaper option.
Btw i buy all my big machines used. That way I save a lot of money. And with 2 or 3 larger projects a jointer/thicknesser already pays off, rough cut sock comes much cheaper than smooth planed stock.
