I feel his presence and here him giving me guidance on how to use it! It’s a great thing to be able to hand things down to the kids!

Possibly the most gorgeous workbench I've ever seen! Your craftsmanship and attention to detail are spectacular. The design and ability to break it down for moving is excellent. The sliding vice design and details are awesome. Art, heirloom furniture, and tool. This is a masterpiece workbench I hope your kids catch the wood bug and it stays in your family for several generations.

Wish more of the craftmen would be like you, Sir. I'm currently using my grandfather's tools and starting to learn joinery and simple woodcrafts from all the material he left here.
I'm living in the old winecellar/garage with my girlfriend at the small plot of my grandparents and trust me, when I say it: your attitude, precision, talent and perseverance will live on and speak to your children just as you wished!
Through your work and thoughts You are giving priceless heritage to the world, not just your children. Keep up with it, never cease to create!

I was originally going to make a cheeky comment about not seeing any katanas, but that closing remark, "My hope in building this work bench is that, one day, years from now, when I'm long gone, my children will see this old, dusty work bench and hear their dad's voice telling them to always persist," actually made my eyes a little misty.
That's some incredible work, there. I think you definitely qualified as the third type of St. Francis' people who work. Thank you for sharing.

That is the most beautiful project I've ever seen. The Francis quote at the beginning is wholly appropriate, you sir are an artist of the first water and that is shaker level craftsmanship. Your grandsons grandsons and granddaughters granddaughters will still treasure that bench and I would recommend keeping a copy of this video on a memory chip hidden inside one of the pins so that in 200 years someone will watch that speech at the end and hear the voice that they could only have imagined.

So...here are all the times I cried during this video:
I cried at the opening quote
I cried when you were sharpening your tools using a waterstone
I cried when I saw how easily your chisels slice through hardwood end grain
I cried when I saw how thick everything is
I cried when you placed the bench top on the base
I cried when you locked in the sliding piece for your deadman
I cried when you were screwing in the brass screws
I cried when you planed the entire length of that board in one pass
And then I lost it when you started talking about your kids while showing detailed photos of your beautiful bench
You're a true artist! That bench is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

Just found this vid as I search the net for ideas on a work bench. Your words are beautiful at the end. But you missed one thing. Your bench belongs in an art gallery, to show the next generation what can be achieved by patience, aptitude, skill and believing in yourself... that truly was a piece of art you created.....

You are an artist young man, this video was well done (besides the actual bench crafting) music was on point, time lapse sync was excellent, overall great editing. It was also nice to see the family. Keep up the superb work! Thank you very much for sharing.

Beautiful words at the end, my dad was a carpenter I'm a carpenter and I am still seeing things at my mum's home long after my dad has passed that take me right back to being a child, I have a 2 year old boy now and can only wish him the same amazing memories I had growing up and it seems your boys have too. Great work one the bench and great video.

Incredible piece of art. A true dyeing skill, working with ones hands. The utmost attention to the smallest of details and the care of every strike of the mallet and push of a chisel. The look on the young mans face as the top finally laid in place was golden. The patience with a calm mind set is the only way to achieve such beauty.

From all who came to see (experience) this as it was published to those who come to see (experience) it now, I wonder how many found it to be as moving and special as I somehow found it to be? There is something so beautiful and special witnessing the craft and creation contained withing this amazing video. For this viewer this something so special is watching God expressing him/her self self through this incredibly gifted human being. I don't often feel inspired to account such feelings publicly, but this is definitely one of those special times for me.

Well... If you are able to hand out those kinds of inspirational heartfelt praises like that on a regular basis... then "Super Wingman" is a very deserving title... :) but jokes aside... It does have an emotionally uplifting arc all the way to completion... Great video Great work... and very deserving of all the compliments given... Cheers

It’s no wonder a work of art, and can’t attain this perfection without such passion. Anyone who hires you for a contract should be gifted. I throughly enjoyed watching.

The Samurai Carpenter is a no good quitter. Closing shop and going off grid. But, thanks for this workbench. I’m incorporating much of what you do in this workbench into my first workbench! Thanks Samurai! I hope you manage to keep building!

    Great job!
By the way, that quote is by Louis Nizer from Between You and Me, Beechurst Press, 1948. It gets misattributed to Francis of Assisi all the time.
“A man who works with his hands is a laborer.
A man who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
A man who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist."
    -- Louis Nizer, 1904-1994

Good news, the dislikes aren't about the jealousy:) it's just that they no longer wish to receive associated videos in the newsfeed:)
And the vid can get its promotion based on the activity in any case:) btw, the more comments, the better

My dad was a finish carpenter and cabinet maker, and my grandfather before him. They built a wood shop over 2 generations that was sold after his death, 40 years ago. I loved that shop and what I remember most were the tables. Great investment, sir.
