Great build. No overkill, very functional. Also a nice, focused tool collection. Just the essential stuff. Love how it all fits in the bench rather than being scattered the entire workshop. Good job!

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

What will you then build with the tools that cost you thousands and your new workbench? A few saw sleds, perhaps, some router jigs, cupboards to house your tools and then there are screws, nails, bolts, etc to house. All these channels are similar, never making anything that comes even close to justifying the money, space and time expended, or rather wasted. Always it's much better in every way to buy things than to build them.

@@markcynic808 Partially true, although building it is a personal pleasure, gives sense of accomplishment, skill builder, useful and helpful to like individuals. It's also obvious that "The Maker" does this type of work for a living. Being able to store tools and hardware in such a manner is also efficient and safety conscience. Reduces clutter and makes it easy to find item all in a close confined area, not to mention that is a useful tool itself. AND besides all that it's just F**cking cool! Thanks Maker

It's completely true. The point is, all this is a waste of money, time and space. With no tools, there's no need for tool storage, a workbench, a workspace or a need to hide clutter or worry about safety. Ever heard of anyone sawing their fingers off buying furniture in a store? I didn't think so.
Tell me, how much have you spent on tools and what have you built for your home - not your workshop or garden - that is even worth the cost of a good cordless drill? My bet is nothing.

At first I thought it was a very simple quick build type bench when I saw the ply bench top and simple 4by2 framing. But then he added about a dozen neat features to turn it into a super bench. I particularly like the heavy wood facing block added to the jaw of the vice, giving it dowel holes on the outsides beyond the steel jaw, allowing dowel push blocks to be put in to push against and hold wood. Well done and thankyou

Hey man. I'm going to use this video as my template to build my workbench and I have no experience. I want to have those big chunky legs his has. They make it look really hefty bro. The add-ons and all that good stuff can come later. I will keep his video in one of my workbench playlists on here and refer back to it in time but the bench is the most important thing to begin with. It's very hard to do anything without a larger work surface so I'm gonna build the frame and top, etc to begin with. The shelves, vise, etc can come in a month or so..

I love the idea of a smaller workbench! He showed putting them on either side of the table saw for cross cuts but you could use it to extend the outfeed table as well. Or you could put benchtop tools on it (like planer or jointer) when using them for extended periods. I think I might build 2 small tables after seeing this. Tomorrow though. I'm busy today.

Lots of great ideas there. Very handy to have such a lot of your most used items to hand. If I could offer one criticism: woodworkers' chisels are like razors. Reaching for one of those tins could result in a nasty accident. Enclosing the blade end in acrylic would be safer and you could still see which chisel you are reaching for.

Some good ideas here. I am often leery of tables like this that have too many custom storage ideas that can easily become outdated as needs change, but those shown here look easily modified. I have built a number of work stations. Some thoughts:
    1. Unless you have the luxury of a LOT of space, a major drawback of these tables is that they are heavy and usually have to stay put. Consider fitting four heavy-duty swiveling and locking casters to the legs so the table can be moved when necessary.
    2. That said, casters or no casters you will be lucky indeed if your floor is flat and level enough that the table won’t wobble.
    3. The bench dog system is nice, but a yoga mat under your materials will keep them from sliding. Pieces of various shapes and sizes are useful, versatile and cheap.
    4. That piece of leather for the face of the vice? Glue it first, then trim with a sharp knife and you will get a flawless fit.
    5. If you really want that top to fuse, glue the thing and then reinforce with a pattern of deck screws or pneumatic staples attached while you are standing on the plywood. (These are, of course, installed only on the underside.) If you plan to drill the bench dog holes, drill tiny pilot holes through the top so there won’t be a conflict of nails/staples and dog holes.
    6. A number of mentions have been made here about plans. Seriously? The beauty of building it yourself is that every dimension can be adjusted to suit factors such as the user’s height and available space, and even the sizes of building materials around the world. Plus the sizes of components like the plastic storage boxes, which come and go from the marketplace. The basic structure of this bench is simple as can be, and easily copied or modified.

POV: By now you've watched around 50 videos of how to build a work bench, yet you're still sitting here and wondering how the hell you're gonna do it owning only a drill and a hand saw + 10 dollars on your bank account.

I just build mine out of pallet wood. I did get lucky and got a job that we had 88 pallets to discard of in the end that had 3-5’ HT pine studs each.

Find a housing community under construction. Go dumpster diving. You'll find all the wood you need.

your design is shockingly similar to my build. A few things to consider if anyone is feeling inspired. (a) i screwed the bottom sheet of plywood to the 2x4 frame before gluing (b) I used two 2x4s in an L-shape for legs and wrapped those around the outside of the 2x4 frame from "a". (c) i also added a sheet of cheaper sheet-good to the bottom of the top frame from "a". I then added a port for my dust extractor that sucks dust out of the area between the top of the top and the bottom of the top [separated by 2x4s] to allow me to sweep my saw dust into the dog-holes. (d) along the "back" edge of the table I have a 3/4 tall strip of wood that flips over the edge with hinges to give me a backstop that can be folded out of the way. (e) i have a t-track that goes all the way down the center of my bench to give me all sorts of ways to hold things down or add accessories in a snap (f) a front door that folds along a horizontal "seam" as you "lay" it on the floor before you slide it under the bench to keep it out of the way

Great video, design and execution. My only point of contention would be the chisel rack. I would have made it deeper as to not expose the cutting edge to damage and personal injury. However superb video. You Sir are a mastercraftsmen and designer.

Admiring and inspiring planning. Though; 1) The drawers at the bottom may be affected when the floor needs some wet cleaning. 2) The cabinets below may need curtains to protect expensive tools from dust. Well crafted.

Plans? Who needs plans? Build it to fit the space available and features you need.
Bear in mind dimensional lumber was used, therefore one just needs to consider length and width. Height should fit your comfort level.

I like instructions/plans for scaling up or down. The way the video is filmed is the best I’ve watched for a build. If The Maker would sell his plans I’m thinking he would have some cash coming in.
