I have the round COMP Q 15’s, 2 of them in a 7 cu.ft ported box tuned to 32 hz on a RF T2500. They hit hard as heck, get super low, and sound very good while doing it. Very clean bass.
That sub is such a beast, I am thinking of getting the same one with the Rockford Fosgate 1500bd monoblock amp and it's gonna slam!!! I just wish Kicker still made the 18's
I'm undecided on porting or sealed. Playing with the Skar 18's kinda making want to stay sealed. Even though my single Kicker CVR15 daily driver box is ported and gets down, it is missing that super tight clean snap. What amp are you running on them ?
Just got 2 of the L7S 15s, I have just one on a kx2400.1 but my box is too small and tuned too high and it still sounds great! Cant wait to build my other box for 2 of them!
I remember when i unboxed my Q class L7 15, it was awesome, but then i sold it and bought 3 SKAR AUDIO VFX 15's and unboxed them ;). So much better now day's, never the less that Q class L7 15 was a great subwoofer. It did smell quite a bit tho when giving it actual rated power.
how do these compare to the old kicker L7 version? ive had my old single 12" L7 for 8 years ! still kicking! but had to repair it, its survived 2 car wrecks and abuse from music for YEARS!
@@thenotoriousrvh6091 oh absolutely! Recently the coil assembly detached from the square cone, so I mixed up some J-B weld. And made sure it was aligned properly as to not have the coil rub the magnet/motor and she's back to banging!
I had the Original L7 15s back in the day and also had the old L5 10"s. My brother now has two Solo X 12"s and omg those old kickers are loud as hell lol. I run Sundown Subs now. But it's good to see kicker still kicking it lol
Doesn't sound too bad, the subs are $499ea the amp depending on CX or KXA are $329 and $649. The amp kit if a 1/0ga Kicker kit is $160 all prices I'm staying are MSRP and products can always be found cheaper than full price.
Haven't heard of that wire before, but as long as the wire is 100 percent OFC (oxygen free copper) it's good. Stay away from CCA (copper Clad aluminum) it's not nearly as good.
sounds decent but id definitely switch up the wiring kit to 0/1gauge & make sure ofc no cca. just use 4gauge in short peices, like if you have a distribution block to amp but long length to battery 0/1gauge.

When deciding on impedance (ohms) it depends on what your amplifiers compatible with. Some amps like a 2ohm final load others a 1ohm or even less. In my case the Kicker KXA2400 is rated full power at 1ohm. So 4 4ohm voice coils wired in parellel (positive to positive, negative to negative) equals 1ohm.
It's not that big of a price difference between 1/0 & 4ga. A little over kill is better than too little. Go for 100 percent OFC 1/0ga that way you have the cable for future upgrades. Stinger 6000 series amp kits can be found for a good bargain shop around.
I contacted kicker and they said they don't have the option for the Q class in the quad box. I was just wondering if I swap out the speakers will they fit

Their over rated and over priced, trust me I've been their and done it. It's good for mabey a 1000 watts, after that the subwoofer will start stinking up
I'm running the KXA2400.1 with no issues. I'm not running things full tilt either. It's quite surprising what it does considering I've been playing with it on stock electrical. The Kicker KXA amps are expensive but you get to save money on electrical. I'll be biting the bullet soon for an alternator & big 3. It should really wake up then 😁.
The spider in the old L7s are yellow and smaller, the spider on the Q class is blue and much bigger. The spider is really the only good upgrade on this subwoofer. Their voice coils are small and junk, can not handle a true 1200 watts. They get hot fast and stink everything up
I can see a few differences, the S doesn't have quite the motor the Q has, but the S is slightly more efficient. $50 msrp price difference. When I talked to Kicker tech when putting this together I was told the S's would be louder because of the efficiency but the Q's would have better SQ. The efficiency difference is S 89.4db 1W/1M vs Q 88.6db 1W/1M. I'd happily give up 0.8db for better SQ, but that's me.

@@jaweed7219 The 1800 would require a 1/0ga and most likely other electrical upgrades to the car, but it would definitely be more than enough for and it would be ok if you added a 2nd sub. As far as price ? Sounds about right. You could possibly shop around and find a better deal.

About time..we finally c a video with 2 15" subs...I've only had 15" s in my car 🚗🚗..it's always about 12" subs..12s ..have no depth...low and blooming..and screaming high 6x9s..no mids.. make sure you get a amp that goes down to 40 herts lp..not 50... that's mid bass..u don't want vocals coming through your voice coils..
I hear ya. In my hay day I as always known as the "ten man", used to do some great things with them. Coming back after a long hiatus decided to play with some big subs. Nothing like a 15's or 18's in a sealed box with good power.
12’S have no depth? While I agree they don’t get as low as 15’s 12’s can definitely get loud and low. There are a lot of playing factors at hand, your box specs, port area, sub specs, cabin resonance, amp specs. I have seen 4 12’s crush 4 15’s in a competition @33hz. Just all depends on your set up
Your spot on. But that's what makes car audio great. There really is no right or wrong, sound is subjective. As long as the person that owns the car likes it nothing else matters. I've done plenty of 10's ported and tuned into the low 20's cleanly.

I got 2 12 but the round version. There built to be as equal to these picked em up Jan 2020 for about 650 for both. Can't complain and they take a nasty beating. I would buy this next year if they redid it again. 850rms to a 12 isn't bad
This is what I dont understand about kicker and this sub...they advertise that it's bigger than the standard round sub, which is true, BUT, let's take for instance the 15. Its a little less cone area than an 18, but takes the same size box and handles less power with a higher Fs than most 18s. Why not just get an 18 instead? If the 15 took the usual amount of airspace as the average round 15, but had the extra area for being a square, then we would have ourselves something. Maybe they should use stronger motors and shrink the box size needed

The 1200 should be ok. But it depends on how much bass your looking for. The 12's will handle the 2400 and of course the more power would be more bass. You could always run what you got and then if want more later add another 1200 1 amp per sub.
No, you need at least a 1000 watts per subwoofer. I would recommend 1500 true watts per subwoofer, that way you don't have to push your amps to get that power the subwoofers need. Get two SKAR AUDIO RP-1500.1 amps and you will love it
The Q class L7 15 has a small voice coil, it does not handle the 1200 watts without stinking up the car. Trust me i owned one and this is why i got rid of mine. I had my gain set correctly so don't go their lol, i gotta say it's way over priced. Kicker needs to do much better then this
Mine did it for a little bit when new if hammered hard. Speaker break in is a real thing. It takes time for parts to loosen up and some of the coatings that are used to protect things from rusting & corrosion during transit to burn off. After a somewhat of a long break in period mine have not "smelled" since. I'm running the Kicker KXA2400.1 @ 1ohm on them.

This is kickers biggest subwoofer they offer today in 2020 . Glad to own one, now finding a proper ported box for this sub is a whole nother story .

Idk, most likely not a whole lot of difference. Kickers are definitely built with abuse and longevity in mind.

The 15's ? No.
But the Q class 12's would be even louder and handle more power. And also add a lot of weight.

Honestly I haven't compared them to the other square series subs. The spider is pretty massive. It's larger and stiffer than the Skar 18's I have.

The big difference is baffle space. You can put that 15" in spaces you cant with an 18.
