5 Fabulous Compositions from Nature

- In this video I head to Scotland in search of quiet compositions... and by that I mean the type of images that are all too often overlooked and not what I call shouty! I didn't go in search of five per se, but this is the figure that I arrived at. The part of Scotland that I was focused on during this trip is the south western side of the mainland, not far from the Isle of Arran and Bute. It turned out to be two weeks of campervan bliss and some of the best photo locations that I have ever been to. I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching.

Your videos are photography education, calm, nature-filled prescription to everyday life. I really appreciate your plant and wildlife discussion. As a plant person, I can never get enough of your featuring the native plants. Thank you for your work!
More inspirational images from Simon Booth! Love them all but that fern image was the show-stopper for me. Great work as always Simon! Non-Nature Macro Photographer: "What a lovely, soft breeze today!" Nature Macro Photographer: "The wind is HOWLING today!!!"😊
The stone photos are so good, the texture is like oil painting, thanks for sharing.
Hello Simon, there is nothing better than going on a hike and finding something you have never seen before. How exciting that you found that particular plant! The fern shot was particularly wonderful- an example of nature’s perfection. Thank you for all of your efforts. Carla
I loved the “rock wave” (#4) and the ferns (#5).
Beautiful photo and really interesting video as always. I must actually be starting to get a bit better at understanding photography as I said to myself I prefer the landscape version because it has more room around the flowers and then you said the same thing. Really enjoy your videos Simon so knowledgeable thank you very much 🙏
Nice video 👍🙂
Simon, thanks again for your educational video. These images are amazing. I went to Millport this morning thinking that’s where you were next to the ferry, but sadly not. Keep your videos coming. Thank again William.
I think I put the location on the map William. Thanks for watching.
I know this is a tragic disclosure to make and, believe me, i feel deeply ashamed, but seeing and hearing you shooting my dream camera handheld is, quite possibly, the highlight of my day. Right - i'll take myself off now and autoflagellate with a bundle of mature Rubus stems. Great vid. Cheers.
Hi Simon, I had a trip to Kintyre myself, last week, it was my second visit (first being last october) I came across the rocks you photographed, on another beach further down the coast, they are spectacular & so interesting, what was also interesting about your video was the colours you pointed out, the grey/green colour of the rock was what stood out to me, but you seen the red veins in the rock, great to get another perception on such a great subject I spent the best part of 2 days photographing them.
Well worth two days of any photographers life.
Lovely to see you looking well Simon! Great video!
Great photos and a lot of inspiration 🤗
Thanks Simon. Really good to see you looking so well. This diverse range of images is just delightful. Hope midge weren’t too annoying.
Thank you Simon for taking the time and effort to make and bring us yet another truly inspiring video. I've been shooting fast moving wildlife this past three years, but I also like to take time out doing some slower paced nature photography.
Beautiful images as usual!
Thank you again for your brilliant content and fabulous delivery style.
lovely to see you at the coast Simon. I live near a rocky beach or two at Mumbles and love how the view changes with every wave that comes through, and the geology is fascinating.
My daughter and I were privileged last summer to watch a family of three GS woodies - 2 adults and a juvenile - in our little patch of local woodland. a marvellous sight to see
highly enjoyable video as per 🙂
Particularly like the 3 Beach photos 😊x
great set of images there Simon. Would have been wonderful to explore places that are new to you. The beach certainly had a lot of potential. so many patterns, colours and textures. Thanks for sharing something of these spaces with us.
Great video and that triptych is lovely !Great work and Thanks for sharing!!
Hello Simon
Realy wonderful peaceful images. Have a nice time :-).
What a wonderful beach with so much texture to play with. The central triptych image was just lovely. Thanks for an enjoyable journey and delve into your photographic world.
Wonderful images and great video Simon 👍
A really exceptional collection of photos in today’s video Simon. Many thanks for sharing your work and your inspiration in this manner.
I loved the stone pictures on the beach which has given me the inspiration to try.
Beautiful work, Simon
If I'm not mistaken the piri piri burr is what inspired the invention of Velcro.
.....simply magical!!
Grazie!
Great ideas!!!!! Thanks…
Magnificent.
Beautiful photos. May I know what lens did you use?
Fantastic video Simon and the patterns in the rocks on the beach were amazing. Re your first shot and not being able to get low enough with your tripod, did you know that you can buy a compact Plate Head that has a very low profile. It is designed to work with your Kingjoy C85 tripod. It is mainly used for panoramic shooting as the top of the plate swivels but would have worked in your scenario. All you do is unscrew your ballhead from your tripod and screw on the Compact Plate Head onto the levelling base of your C85. Marcus McAdam demonstrated its use in one of the Photography Online videos when they were talking about losing weight with your gear. They sell them in the Mc2Photography / Photography Online shop.
Hello and thank you for the tip. I work closely with Kingjoy so I am aware of the plate.
There's a beach near me with lots of different stones on it, I don't recall having much success. Perhaps I need to try again.
Would you consider it sacrilege to create your own dark background with your jumper or bag?
I would as it happens. I'm happy to manipulate what is there but not to that extent. I once introduced a false background to a bird feeding station very early on in my journey, but knowing it was false never sat comfortably with me. I never look at these images anymore.
