      Hi Nona, you made my Glen Rosa time very pleasant… thank you. Now, the final location with the dramatic rock is approx 1km south of the caves, we could see them from where we stood 👍. Doesn’t exactly count does it? 😉

    Comp sitter here Louise, even for a few moments; enjoying your shared splash of swooshery. Thanks for the heads up; I can't say my tripod has grown roots yet, but I'll keep an eye open for the first signs. Another great video Louise. I've come to understand the amount of work this takes. Thanks for sharing. Great b-roll and shots. Thanks to YT for saving my place in the video so I could pickup where I left off some days ago. Want to keep busy, you say? Careful what you wish for; you're liable to get it. Cheers.

      @@louisewelcomephotography I was wondering what midges was 🤔 I was thinking if it was the same as "knott" as we have in Sweden, but they don't look the same on images. I wonder if we have them too 😅

    • @louisewelcomephotography
      @louisewelcomephotography  7 месяцев назад +1

      Small bites flies (really small) that are very light weight. They get caught in your hair, around your face, backs of hands etc... They bite and are so small that they feel like you are being bitten in waves. Really bad around sunset and sunrise especially and they are in their 1000s at times. I got off lightly. They are so light weight that a good breeze makes it very difficult for them. Scotland is notorious for them between mid May until end Sept if you are unlucky. Do you have similar?

    • @jimmywestphoto
      @jimmywestphoto 7 месяцев назад

      @@louisewelcomephotography Oh, ouch doesn't sound pleasent at all haha. Well It does sound like "knott" but they don't look all too similar on images though but maybe they are related somehow 🤷‍♂

    great video Louise, I know Dalcairney Falls quite well and it is a challenging location composition wise and good timing with the water levels too as it can dry up quite a bit meaning the falls dimish quite a bit. Arran was one of the places I was responsible for when I was in the Fire Service and always enjoyed any opportunity to visit there but those midges are a menace🙂. We used Skin So Soft when dealing with wildland fires but no sure how effective it is these days

    • @louisewelcomephotography
      @louisewelcomephotography  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Scotty, really interesting. Dalcairney was lovely and I agree re the flow… v lucky. I’m told that skin so soft may have sold its formula to Smidge but that may be rumour. It certainly seemed the more effective of the two from my highly unscientific study of 6 usages. 😉 good to hear from you sir 👍

    The island looks gorgeous so lush and green I have no comparison other than Catlina Island 25 miles off the California coast and I have hiked and photographed most of the island. The island is owned by the Wrigley family ( chewing gum ) and put into a conservancy in fact they have a winery and a mausoleum for one of the Wrigleys on the island
    I am back home after open heart surgery and recovering it will take me some time before I can get out and hike again

    Nope, because I hardly ever use a tripod. You know your camera/lens set up has image stabilization and VR, trust it. Sure, you can only go SO slow on shutter speed, but shooting hand held allows you so much more mobility!

    • @louisewelcomephotography
      @louisewelcomephotography  7 месяцев назад +1

      The old tripod can be a bit of a crutch I confess… and when I do my IR it’s totally hand held and really freeing. I do tend to shake though with heavier lenses or ‘wave around like a loon’ to quote my husband. Hmm mental note: brave it more Welcome. Cheers Lisa 👍
