Absolutely! I would even go so far as to say that as far as studio album solos go, it IS the best ever. David Gilmour only eclipsed it with Comfortably Numb's live solo in 1994's Pulse Concert. Time reigned for 22 years as the overall best solo IMO and STILL reigns as the best album solo of all time. Comfortably Numb's solo on The Wall album is lacklusture in comparison which may be why David wanted to make it better. With the Time solo, he knew that there was no room for improvement so he left it alone.

Pink Floyd is a band that demands a patient listener. The listener must be in the moment and not anticipating. Also like others have written Dark Side of The Moon is best listened to as a whole piece of music not as individual songs. The album was on the Billboard charts for over 10 years.
When I got my first CD player, circa 1989 or so, the first CD I bought was Dark Side of The Moon! One of my favorite albums .. I've replaced the CD a couple of times since.
Absolutely about Dark Side. It being a concept album the concept of insanity and all that gets us there is better understood when listened to as a whole.
I am so glad that you went ahead and listened to Floyd again! Don't be discouraged by negative people in the comments. People will always have their opinions. Don't let it get to you. Just be you and listen to all kinds of music. And react any way you like. I am a big Pink Floyd fan and I love people discovering their music. It is always an experience. Enjoy!!!
Massive Floyd fan myself, been a huge influence on my life and loves. For any Floyd lovers also check out some of the early 'Yes' albums and The Alan Parsons Project, particularly The Pyramid and I Robot albums, totally awesome creative works and make modern music sound like folks beating Pans and shouting to scare the Cats off lol.
From all of these reaction videos on Time, whenever it get's to the part "Then one day you find 10 years are behind you. No one told you when to run. You missed the starting the gun." invokes a reaction from everyone of the listeners so far. As another you tube member stated "That was the most chilling lyric in music history" Right up to that part the listener is lulled into relaxed state of mind (with exception of the alarm clock at the opening) only to be led to a lyrical verse that expresses anxiety from the story tellers view "in a quiet desperation" with the futility of it all.
This song is about the inevitability of the passage of time, and how it's passage is felt differently at different ages. The first lines are how it seems when we're young. The second lines are how it feels in our early adulthood. The third and forth lines are our feelings in later adulthood into middle age, and the ending--which sounds like the music from "Breathe"--is old age and eventually death. At least, that's how I feel when I hear this song; you may feel differently, and that's all right, since Pink Floyd 's music is open to interpretation. Ironically, this is the song that precedes "Great Gig in the Sky," and listening to them in order would've probably given you a better understanding of what "Gig" was trying to convey. In any event, I'm glad you came back to this album. It really is one of the greatest albums of all time.
The stages you describe can also be heard in the guitar solo. The first part is lazy and drawn out, lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain. Then the solo picks up as you realize you've missed your starting gun and start chasing the sun fruitlessly only to have it come up behind you again. And the final section of the solo settles down again as the person reaches old age. There are very few guitar solos in music that do such a good job of capturing the message of the song, which is what makes it so great.
Watching your reactions is like.....when you watch your favorite movie with someone who's never seen it. You're excited again and see different things. And if they love it too, its a bond. Love your heart and openness to something new.
There is a reason why the album "Dark Side of The Moon", the album this is off of spend a record 917 weeks on the Billboards Top 200 album chart. Because it is an unequaled classic. The next closest rival to that record number of weeks is: Legend: The Best Of..., Bob Marley And The Wailers, 386 weeks.
The guitar god that is David Gilmour! And yes Pink Floyd takes you on a journey. They'll lull you to sleep and then punch you in the face and they are always building towards something on their albums. Roger Waters' lyrics carry a literary weight and when they collide with David Gilmour's musical genius it's a pretty explosive combination. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes dark, but usually beautifully dark. Oh, and they can just plain rock-out at times.
Dang this takes me back to my youth when I would "adjust my attitude", sit in my bean bag chair with my black light on looking at my black light posters with headphones on listening to the entire album on an 8 track cassette and just let my mind float and enjoy...
Bought the album in 73 when it came out, 46 years ago, still love it, for the full experience headphones and eyes shut, it will take you to a different place
@@Io-Io-Io llistening to PF without headphones or proper placement of speakers is like watching 3d movies without 3d glasses on, you'll miss spatial details
Gets you right in the feels, don't it? That's what Pink Floyd does, reaches down into your emotions and gives them a good stir. They do it very well indeed and can take you places you never expected to go.
Now imagine the emotional place you were in and *then* let it flow into Great Gig in the Sky and it would have been a completely different experience. Dark Side of the Moon is crafted to be a continuous listening experience and man, does it do it well.
(whispering to MRM) some say they took a hit of LSD. We all know Syd did. I do not recommend it but the music that comes from it is close to the experience of it. Now, go get The albums and take their trips without any bad side affects. Listed to Syd Barrett's " Mother" do you think they'll drop the Bomb. Ssshhhh. People want to see you react to this group.
All of their albums AR National Geographic stories about war and people's ignorance. You've got to watch the claymation version Gilmore's On the Turning Away. It will blow your ass out of your ears and your eyes out of your ass. You will believe they are real. And you will feel something for them. Unplugging believable
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you. You are the only reactor to ever even mention my name! You were live and were commenting. I had a mild heart attack on Easter Sunday and called 911. The 911 operator, I credit, for saving my life. He told me to take four baby aspirin and chew them. The Ambulance came and they said that my ECG was showing the sign's. BUT, I did not go with them to the Hospital for fear of getting the virus. So here I sit, waiting. I have no Spleen because of Non - Hodgekins Lymphoma. I have no Left Lung because of Lung Cancer and I have nine Stent's. You're in the Medical field, so you know that there is no light at the end of the tunnel for me. If you listen to Floyd in a dark room, you can actually feel stoned without any drugs. It transports you. I’ve been a musician for 40 years, & this is why I put David Gilmour in my top five guitar players of the 20th century. You want yer mind blown? Check out anything from ‘Animals ‘ the Wall is more of a time commitment as it’s a story you follow. A concept album. ‘The Pro’s & Con’s ofHitchhiking ‘ was another that Waters did after Floyd broke up. He got Eric Clapton on lead guitar, & David Sanborn on sax. Worth a listen. I’ve enjoyed yer responses. Thanks
Hey Ty, "The Great Gig in the Sky" has an interesting story. Clare Torry went in to perform this song about dying, but Pink Floyd told her to sing without words. She used her voice as a musical instrument. I want that to be played at my funeral. The proper way to listen to "The Dark Side of the Moon" is to lay on the floor in front of a pair of 100 watt speakers with 15 inch woofers and turn off all the lights. God bless.
Ikr, his reactions look genuine, something we can relate to. Too many emotions are evoked at the same time that a person looks kinda blank. That's the effect of *The Pink Floyd Sound*
If you ever do a full album reaction, this would be a great one to do. Dark side of the moon is themes all the way through and each sing connects to the next thematically. It's a progression from one song to the next.
Yep, theirs a reason it’s the number1 selling album ( Dark side of the moon) of all time, and stayed on the charts for 23 years... probably a decade longer than any other album buy any other artist ever! I think Hotel California is the next closest to it.
My Mom was 6 months pregnent with me when her and my Dad saw Pink Floyd in concert back in 1994 in Detroit. She said I was moving around the whole concert. Been listening to good music since before I was born. Pink Floyd makes me feel some type of way. Glad they make you feel that way as well.
You and Lost In Vegas are the best reaction videos I've encountered yet. Not fake, not put on, just pure reaction, just the way I like it. The thing I like about this song is the metronome sound is very much like a heartbeat, like the heartbeat is counting off time with the music as well as time itself. All this blends well in the theme of the song. I've said to many of my friends how time seems to be going by faster and faster as I've gotten older. Also, as my friends have kids of their own, to watch out because they grow up before you blink and eye, and poof, they do. Very awesome Pink Floyd song, and very poignant too. Very soothing, very relaxing, very Pink Floyd. Great Gig In The Sky is just a different tone from a different album.
D'oh! You're right! I used to play DSOTM with The Wizard of Oz all the time and somehow completely forgot about that! Maybe I was thinking of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond".
I'd never listened to Pink Floyd before but a girl I met at the mall where I worked liked them a lot and so I started listening to them (I liked her) so we'd hopefully have something to talk about. Well, we never really became friends or anything else but PF will always bring me back to that time and her face.
Pink Floyd speaks a lot to birth , life, death, youth, age, politics, business, isolation, fame, greed, poverty, the whole thing, and it brings you to think, and dream, Some like that a lot , some do not.
today's my birthday, 49 years on this planet, and even though I love this song and everything by Pink Floyd, certain lyrics in this song make my heart drop, like "10 years have gotten behind you, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun" and "shorter of breath, and one day closer to DEATH." And today I turn 49. YAYYY🙄✌🎶
Great reaction. 'Time' for "Dark Side of The Moon - Pink Floyd" Full album from start to finish binge. It's an entire experience. The entire album does that "drift" to you. I'm telling you it takes you to another place. You must listen to the album start to finish.. believe me you will love it. And keep up the awesome genuine reactions! ✌🏼🎶🎹🥁🎸🎶🎵💖🙏⚘🕺🏼
♥️♥️♥️❤️❤️❣️❣️ can’t go wrong with Pink Floyd! Grabbing my cat..he’s into Pink Floyd his name is Napoleon.. money, great gig in the sky, comfortably numb ... ❤️♥️❣️
I absolutely adore Pink Floyd. Thanks for listening to this one and sharing your thoughts. My Army roommates (back in the early 80s) combined their stereo systems and set this song to go off at high volume on a timer about 2 minutes before PT formation. Four Bose 901's, two massive Sansui speaker systems, over 800 watts total... this dang song used to blow me off my bunk and start me running for formation so many times... that was a lot of alarm clocks to go off at 800 watts. Took me a while to warm up to this one because of that, but yeah, it's awesome.
This is the thing about Pink Floyd, they take you on journeys. As a matter of fact their 4 main albums are concept albums and meant to be listened to as a whole, Dark Side of the Moon (which both this and Great Gig is on) Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall. The 3 songs that get most people into Pink Floyd are Time, Comfortably Numb and Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Enjoy going down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole!
For any Pink Floyd I would probably recommend watching them live from the Pulse concert. You get to hear the whole song and experience the music and performance too
It’s the beauty of music. They take you away. These are classicly trained musicians. This songs point is to make you reflect as to how short your time here is. Then one day you find 10 years has got behind you, no one told you were to run you missed the starting gun. I hear it and think of my 20’s when you don’t even worry about dying. And the end, home home again I like to be here when I can. When you realize as a old person it’s over. Far away across the the the tolling of the iron bell, your going to die. Calls the faithful to their knees to here the softly spoken magic bell, your dead. Appreciate life and every day you got. Your life is a melody when the bars stop your gone.
That's why everyone loved listening to this stuff. It sends your mind on a journey. You might like Breathe from the same album or Comfortably Numb if you like that "drifty" feel or Money if you like a more percussive rhythm. They have a ton of good music.
I saw Pink Floyd way back in 1975 at Knebworth, England. The gig was awesome! Laser light show; the Red Arrows (overhead (RAF display)) and a large model aircraft suspended by a cable, with flashing lights flying into the stage in time with the crashing music intro!!! Crazy! I know, but you just had to be ther....
Just one of Floyds masterpieces. I got Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl in 1972 at the age of 12. Wore it out! Replaced it in the mid 80's. It has only been played to record cassettes, burn CD's and upload digital copies to my computer and devices. Now my grandkids who are about that age get to enjoy it. You might say its "TIMELESS"
Done it … with my Cary 303/300 CD player, High Fidelity Ultimate interconnects, Cary 300SEI integrated amp, Audio Envy ToneKraft headphone cable, and Sennheiser 800S headphones. Very nice!
It’s always beautiful to watch someone hear for the first time and begin to experience the transcendence. No color. No matter who you love or pray to. Only the deeper experience of being human. Floyd has given me this gift for 50 years. May you find the same.
Savage vid per usual! I know your just getting into this Pink Floyd journey but if you don’t mind sitting through 18 minutes of greatness their song dogs from their album animals is one of a kind
Dogs is an amazing piece it's also worth listening to you've got to be crazy the song that became dogs. It was originally written for the wish you were here album until Roger decided to change the whole album. Also you can find Raving and drooling which went on to become the song sheep.
I fully understand why you laughed at the Great Gig in the Sky. Its not really one of my favorites. The Music is beautiful but after a few min of her screaming it kinda gets old. Pink Floyd is so much more then that song. Keep Listening to Pink Floyd and maybe you'll grow to appreciate The Great Gig as I have.
Best concert 1973 Detroit...........you could hear a pin drop, dark, pink smoke and hundreds and hundreds of lighters. Will never forget the feeling of this concert. This song takes you on a journey.
Do yourself a favour and watch Comfortably Numb live off the Pulse dvd. It will fry your brain! The second solo is unbelievable. Might even results in tears its that good. Seriously, in my opinion, the best solo ever. Period!
I see everyone always posting about the version on Pulse. I have listened to it several times and maybe had I not heard the absolute greatest version of Comfortably Numb ever (Delicate Sound of Thunder) maybe I would feel different. That 2nd solo from Delicate Sound is sheer awesomeness, actually get drawn in, chills and can never hear it loud enough...
This is why some people refer to Pink Floyd as "Space Rock", because it makes you think of looking up at the stars while it's playing. This is especially true with tracks like "Time" from the album "The Dark Side of the Moon" and "Comfortably Numb" from the album "The Wall". However, there are some instrumental tracks like "Marooned" from the album "The Division Bell" that are so spacy that you could close your eyes and the inside of your skull becomes a planetarium. I highly recommend it because it is just heavenly. Pink Floyd isn't just music, it's a sensual experience that awakens the mind and stirs the imagination with a beauty that can be dark and can be cold but for some reason evokes oceans of bliss. This is the genius that is Pink Floyd, the reason that the album "The Dark Side of the Moon" (which had the prism symbol on it that has become synonymous with Pink Floyd) remained on the Bilboard top-200 charts for an astonishing 949 weeks. Can you think of another album that was still one of the top-200 best-selling albums in the world for eighteen years and three months? No, of course you can't because there isn't one, nothing is even remotely close to DSOTM in this regard. Second to DSOTM is "Legend" by Bob Marley and the Wailers. It is still charting but has only been doing so for 618 weeks (
The start indeed amazed one who listens to it for the first time. And even one (like me) that listens to it for the 4537 time over 30 years. A piece of genius. ---------------- I would like to make 2 special suggestions almost no one will give you: 2 bands: The Warning: start with "survive" at TedX, and then "21st century blood" official video. They have a new song called "dust to dust" which is incredible. Motion Device: "thick skin" and then "doves and snakes'. There's a reason almost no one knows them, but they still are amazing! You'll see it by yourself. React to them and I will explain you why so good musicians are so unknown... Thanks a lot and enjoy! P.S. I will post this comment on a lot of your reactions because you may not see it most of the time because there are plenty of comments.
Pink Floyd has never been one of my absolute favorite bands, but I really do like some of their songs and the musicianship is second to none. They definitely are one of the only bands that have a lot of songs that just take you away on a mental journey, and those female background singers.. wow!
You probably don't do albums, Time is just part of one of the best rock albums of all time, Dark Side of the Moon, but there are two more songs on it that I think you might appreciate, Money and The Great Gig in th Sky, keep going, enjoy your work, introducing me to some new sounds 🤘
1997, U of Miami, sleeping in my new boyfriend's room (now hubby) and he blasts the opening of this song....I look up all startled, say hi to the friend in the room and pass back out...it was 3:30 in the morning.....lol. I can't help but to think of that every time I hear this song.
Pink Floyd was one of those "get high" bands. Back in the day when people were dropping acid and smoking weed all day. hahaha... If you haven't listened to 'Dark Side of the Moon' please do. That song is mindblowing. No other band in the world has ever been like Pink Floyd. They were badass. They created fantasize music. They had that ability to take you away to another place. When I was a teenager I would sit for hours listening to The Dark Side of the Moon LP over and over. I still have the original LP I bought when I was 14 years old. My love for Rock music ran deep. Though there are good bands today they still don't have what the bands of the late 60's, 70's and 80's had. There were a few like Nirvana and Guns and Roses and Metalica that rocked hard in the 90's but by the end of the 90's bands like this sort of faded away yielding to a new generation of Bubble Gum Pop and light rock from bands like Creed, Nickleback, and Live took its place. ... Bands like Guns and Roses, Pearl Jam, Linkin Park, 3 Days Grace and Korn just disappeared from the industry's mainstream music. Such a shame. If you haven't heard these bands you should take a listen. I can make a few good recommendations like 3 Days Grace 'The Animal in Me' and Linkin Park such as 'NUMB'...'In the End' or 'What I've Done'.
Pink Floyd - the turning away, one slip, dogs of war, learning to fly off of momentary lapse of reason, powerful lyrics. The whole Dark side of the moon album. The wall the album. Wish you were here is magic. Pink Floyd are true legends!!

Haven't listened to this in ages,& now I AM aged, closer to Death,Than youth so far behind. Good memories & times!
"I can go to sleep to this already"..........(alarm clocks go off) LMAO!
I know! LOL I was just giggling thinking, he ain't gonna be sleeping for long.
You should set down by yourself somtime and listen to this album in its entirety. Amazing!
With headphones
Agreed. At least listen to Breathe. When this song changes feel and the lyrics are “home, home again” that is the reprise of Breathe.
My favorite reaction is when someone can close their eyes and feel it so deep it hits their soul! Thanks for this one. 🔥
Dang this takes me back to my youth when I would "adjust my attitude", sit in my bean bag chair with my black light on looking at my black light posters with headphones on listening to the entire album on an 8 track cassette and just let my mind float and enjoy...
"I can go to sleep on this already"
Then the alarm clocks went off.
Hahahahahaha
Yeah, that was brilliant.
Yeah that's what you should go to sleep , rush out , sort of.......
Bought the album in 73 when it came out, 46 years ago, still love it, for the full experience headphones and eyes shut, it will take you to a different place
Absolutely!!
Was only 6 in 73 but heard it in 1986 full album first time and have listened to album so many times since. Definitely the best album takes me away!

Gets you right in the feels, don't it? That's what Pink Floyd does, reaches down into your emotions and gives them a good stir. They do it very well indeed and can take you places you never expected to go.
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell

To hear the softly spoken magic spells

Thanks
Hey Ty,
"The Great Gig in the Sky" has an interesting story.
God bless.
And a little smoke helps too….
The reason I subbed was because you don't gas up your reactions. They're genuine
Ikr, his reactions look genuine, something we can relate to. Too many emotions are evoked at the same time that a person looks kinda blank. That's the effect of *The Pink Floyd Sound*
David Gilmore. Guitar. Oh man.
If you ever do a full album reaction, this would be a great one to do. Dark side of the moon is themes all the way through and each sing connects to the next thematically. It's a progression from one song to the next.
or Wish you were here and The Wall
should have a listen to Echoes From The Past Sports Arena, Los Angeles, CA, April 26, 1975 or 1975.06.18 Echoes In The Gardens ,Boston, MA

Great Gig is the next song on this album. You really should just listen to it straight through👍
when you closed your eyed they had you ---welcome to pink
Great Gig In The Sky is just a different tone from a different album.
actually the Great Gig in the Sky is the song right after Time on the DSOTM, time even has the female vocals that are similar in it.
D'oh! You're right! I used to play DSOTM with The Wizard of Oz all the time and somehow completely forgot about that! Maybe I was thinking of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond".
Silverblade Dagger: That "metronome sound" is Roger Waters muting all of the strings on his bass guitar and just plucking one string.
@@420since1974 two strings, actually. Tic Toc
Ford Prefect: You are right.
Very well said! They're a thinking man's band.
today's my birthday, 49 years on this planet, and even though I love this song and everything by Pink Floyd, certain lyrics in this song make my heart drop, like "10 years have gotten behind you, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun" and "shorter of breath, and one day closer to DEATH." And today I turn 49. YAYYY🙄✌🎶
This entire album is perfection
Each member of Pink Floyd is incredibly talented on their own, but together they are PHENOMENAL.
I've done that, beer instead of cherry coke:) I've listened to this since 1973 and the solo still gives me chills!
The power of Pink Floyd- to take you to another place entirely. These guys are amazing!

Some people aren't ready for Pink Floyd. But when you are ready, and you hear that first song that speaks to you......Life changing.
Love that song!! Great video. I drifted away for a second or two also. Lol
Me to
Welcome to Floyd. It’s more than music, it’s an experience.
Main Albums? What the Sam Hill are you talking about?Dark Side of the Moon was released 12 YEARS after they released their 1st one.
DOTM was released in 73......They never released any albums in 61 because they hadn't even formed then.
@@rashford1156 you are correct, their 1st was released in '67, not sure about that typo.
One of the most iconic music groups of all-time. Amazing lyrics, and so far ahead of their time with rock-n-roll music arrangement.
Us And Them is another good one off that Dark Side of the Moon album.
Maybe the best
Was just thinking that It's my favorite 😊
For any Pink Floyd I would probably recommend watching them live from the Pulse concert. You get to hear the whole song and experience the music and performance too
Your reaction to all the clocks striking the hour at once was priceless!
Thank you for not pausing or skipping. The entire Dark Side album will carry you away.
I love Pink Floyd. I used to listen to it on my 8 track player while doing house work. Turned up loud of course. Thanks for the memories. 💜
That's why everyone loved listening to this stuff. It sends your mind on a journey. You might like Breathe from the same album or Comfortably Numb if you like that "drifty" feel or Money if you like a more percussive rhythm. They have a ton of good music.
"Comfortably Numb" is from 1979's "The Wall" album, not 1973's "The Dark Side Of The Moon".
This is a great band...their works are pure genius...no one can touch what they did...Ty your drifting into the music....
I don't know how this works but I wish I could hit the like button a million times
That's what I said.
Get the cd dark side of the moon saddest song ever wish you were here i have all cds god bless you
When you closed your eyes.....I thought...yep.....Pink Floyd has transported another soul!!!!
"I can go to sleep to this already"... and I'm thinking... "oh no you won't" ;-)
Can't go wrong with the Floyd...
If it fails to move you, you are dead...
You might say its "TIMELESS"
pink Floyd is really best enjoyed with a high fidelity sound system or quality head phones, lights off and eyes closed.
Yes sir....fuck yeah dogs is the shit son
Dogs is an amazing piece it's also worth listening to you've got to be crazy the song that became dogs. It was originally written for the wish you were here album until Roger decided to change the whole album. Also you can find Raving and drooling which went on to become the song sheep.
yeah, the first time i heard dogs i didnt know who they were yet. but that song just blew my fricken mind
Time is my favorite Pink Floyd song. Amazing lyrics and that Gilmour solo is EPIC.
Period!
Thats a good one listen its about drugs ........
Sad sad sad
I see everyone always posting about the version on Pulse. I have listened to it several times and maybe had I not heard the absolute greatest version of Comfortably Numb ever (Delicate Sound of Thunder) maybe I would feel different. That 2nd solo from Delicate Sound is sheer awesomeness, actually get drawn in, chills and can never hear it loud enough...
@@paulgetman9087 First song I ever heard of PF... hopelessly, irretrievably hooked..
It is still charting but has only been doing so for 618 weeks (
most reaction videos are click bait you my friend are real ,truth is always in the eyes and natural body movement

The start indeed amazed one who listens to it for the first time.
And even one (like me) that listens to it for the 4537 time over 30 years.

I would like to make 2 special suggestions almost no one will give you:
2 bands:
The Warning: start with "survive" at TedX, and then "21st century blood" official video.
I recommend headphones for all Floyd music......just mo betta that way.
Head Phones make you deaf in the Long run. Fuck Head Phones.
I did a lot of shrooms and smoked a lot of pot while listening to this 30 years ago. then I joined the military and became a cop😂✌
