I always saw comments of ppl saying David gilmours guitar playing could bring tears to their eyes and always thought to myself “really dude” then I watched that pulse concert and they played comfortably numb. I was involuntarily crying listening to the ending solo. Kept saying to myself “dude wtf, what’s happening”
I get so jealous of you getting to discover Floyd ‘s songs for the first time. It was 40 years ago that I had that experience. I watch a bunch of reaction videos but you are the goat.
JOHNNY FORTENBERRY same here, back in 1975, my brother had the album. Been a fan every since. I can honestly say I have listen to Floyd everyday since that first time back in 75.
Agree that The Great Gig in the Sky should be your next song if you felt the background vocals here. It comes directly after this song and it’s less a “song” and more a musical interlude but its fantastic(it’s actually my favorite song of anything anywhere by anyone ). However, I’m surprised at the lack of people requesting the song Money. It’s one of Floyd’s more popular and more upbeat songs and it’s very dynamic. I think it’d be a song you’d really enjoy
In high school, years and years ago, the line 'The sun is the same in a relative way, but your older.' was my favorite line of any song, and on reflection, it still is.

Agreed. Listening to any individual track from 'The Wall' will be even more challenging because the audio might just cut off at the end; many of the songs across all of Pink Floyd's catalog, in fact, are supposed to roll into the next song uninterrupted.

This is one of those albums that everyone remembers exactly where they were, or what they were doing, when they heard it for the very first time. I sure as hell do!!
you are correct if the version he is watching is from Dark side of the moon (looking at the album cover it seems so but usually i found that on the web they tend to use the versions from the tour albums either delicate or pulse) here but if it is the version from delicate sound of thunder is either the only white lady of the 3 vocalist that i think was Margret Taylor and in pulse i think was Claudia fontaine
@@lucabazzanella7780 The tall black singer is Durga McBroom. You'll recognize her as one of the dancers in "Flashdance". Claudie Fontaine is her sister. Other touring singers have been Margaret Taylor, Rachel Fury, Claire Torre & Vicki Brown ( these 2 at Knebworth) and Sam Brown. Claire is the one who sang "Great Gig in the Sky" and finally got recognition and royalties for her vocal arrangement and performance.
Dude you are making me appreciate Floyd all over again. Their music comes back into my life in different seasons and I can appreciate it in all new ways. Such an absolutely killer band, absolutely legendary, almost every song is just dope. I can't explain it. I can finally start to see what people were getting at who proudly wore pink Floyd shirts and gear before I even knew who they were or anything...I can finally see a little bit of what those people were trying to represent and carry with them to spread to others.
Clare H. Torry (born 29 November 1947) is a Britishsinger, best known for performing the wordless vocals on the song "The Great Gig in the Sky" by the group Pink Floyd on their 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon.
I remember running and skipping back home with my pink floyd record (vinyl) ..... desperate to hear it and wow it was out of this world!! Still resonates and never fails to delight after all these years .... as a Grandma of 4!!
One thing I really enjoy about your reactions is that in many cases I've heard the songs maybe thousands of times and, likely as many of your other fans, know when a certain lyric, riff, vocal, etc is coming up... And to see your honest facial reaction, smile, surprise, hold on bruh, etc. You can truly tell you have an appreciation and ear for music. 🍻👊
Fact. The older you get the more this song grips you and draws you in. It was always my favourite Floyd song even as young as 10 Yrs old. But it's only got better over the last 20 years ☺️
Look at the lyrics as you hear the songs ... they all tell a story that in most circumstances, can relate directly to your life or where your life is going ... part of why I love the 70s-90s ... they tell the story that current music cannot seem to duplicate ... keep the reaction vids going bro ... love em
The female voice in the background is British session singer Clare Torry. She sang backup on the whole album. She really shines in Great Gig in the Sky.
Pink Floyd didn't make songs, they made albums. There is always a continuous theme to all the songs in the given album, like a story unraveling along the way. You can try "Dogs" by them, from their "Animals" album (very underrated and my favorite btw)
Sam Khan for their Concept albums, yes. Only Dark Side, WYWH, Animals, The Wall, The Final Cut are Concept albums, Division Bell had a common theme, but wasnt a concept album. Remember, Dark Side is their 9th studio album.
You have to get high and listen to the whole album at once . It's one of the best records ever made, that takes you on a awesome journey. Each song is building up to the next and so on. The whole album is like one long song. Fuckin amazing! 😘
Love your channel man. You seem like a real down to earth dude that loves music period. I'm glad to see you're down with Pink Floyd. Genius for their time for sure.
This song kicks ass except when you're falling asleep with your Pink Floyd playlist in the background and then all those clocks kick off at once and put you back to square one.
There were four female backup singers on this song, Doris Troy, Lesley Duncan, Lisa Strike, & Barry St. John. Wasn't able to find who the main backup vocalist was. My guess it was Doris Troy, who's main style is R&B, & the only American backup singer. I could be wrong. Either way, thx for reacting to this song, react to The Great Gig In The Sky or High Hopes, although you should really listen to the entire Dark Side Of The Moon album now beginning to end. It's worth it.
@@trdacy Yep, that's what I found too. But Doris Troy was the main R&B vocalist on "Time". If you listen to Doris Troy's big hit "Just One Look", you'll recognize her voice. "Just One Look" is a very classic R&B song.
+Chris Liverpool England Clare was a session vocalist and was not a member of the band. She only worked with them a handful of times and very rarely joined them live.
Didn't expect to feel this way, but watching you reminds me of all the reasons I love Pink Floyd, and many other artists you've reviewed. Seeing your joy is giving me back a little piece of mine. Thank you for that. 💛👊
Pay attention son. When you're listening to Pink Floyd you are receiving messages from GOD. Nothing less than masterful musicianship, with prophetic lyrics and angelic chorus. I'm glad you feel it man. Your soul is intact.
Time is a lyrical masterpiece. Considered one of the greatest lyrical performances of all time. How do you write a song about a subject as all encompassing as time without it coming off as cheesy and cliche or convoluted and overly wordy? Yet Roger Waters (the lyricist and one of Pink Floyd's two vocalists) did exactly that.
It really is, its something that almost everyone can relate to but doesnt beat you over the head with it Also I love your username i used to play MTG and loved the Invasion cycle novels
The Darkside Album was a masterpiece. It's still on the Billboard Top 100 List to this day. I was 4 the first time I heard this album. its still on my rotation. its like comfort food for the soul. An essential and mandatory part of any music lover's collection.
Yawg a lyrical masterpiece indeed and what puts this over the top is that it also has a great guitar solo with great drumming sounds in the opening, and soulful vocals throughout . That song encompassed "everything".
The backup singer is Clare Tony There have been others since but she is the original. Her vocals in The Great Gig In The Sky are simply astonishing. Makes the hair on your arms stand up. Goosebumps !
I only discovered "reaction" videos a few months ago. I have watched MANY reaction channels...covering a lot of music styles. I am a Pink Floyd fan from decades ago, but I also love most of the REAL music from the 60's onwards. KING KTF..YOU are the ONLY genuine "reactor"! So many channels have no idea what they are actually hearing- they have no soul for the music, they just pretend. You are now the only reaction channel I will ever watch. Naturally, it's the Pink Floyd...mostly. *winks* Thanks, and kudos to you kid!
That is the true genius of Pink Floyd - perfect timing, pitch, synchronization, stunning voiceovers, soaring to the heights, uplifting your soul while simultaneously bringing you to tears, it is indeed an emotional roller coaster, absolutely positively outstanding.
Love what you do man! I’ve seen so many reaction videos and you do the best ones! So genuine and real! Tool and Pink Floyd both are roadmaps of amazing and important perspectives!
These “Reaction” videos seem to be a popular thing right now. Cool idea for sure. Seen a couple randomly on my feed. Don’t even remember how I got to your page but last night, watched one and dove into the rabbit hole head first. Music is an incredible and beautiful thing and sharing that gift with other like minded music fiends is always a great experience. It’s awesome watching someone else truly appreciate and vibe to something that you feel the same about. Keep doing your thing man. The journey is endless.
Not sure who that singer in the background was. They had a number of great background vocalists on the album. Great Gig in The Sky really features one of them. Take a listen, you won't regret it.
Dude... althoughi love your being introduced to these songs.... they are merely a "snapshot", you're missing the "movie"... gotta hear THAT album cover to cover.
There's a lot of truth to this. A lot of these 70s rock albums were just that: albums. They weren't a collection of singles, they were a whole, about 46 minutes long.
Its great watching people who here Pink floyd for the first time, I was listening to this 45 years ago, man there is so much stuff you missed, its the best. glad to see you like it , it never ages...
Yep. legalize ganja and play this all the time....we'd all realize how stupid anger and rage are and how f'd up it is to spend your few trips around the sun doing dumb shit.
The singer is Claire Torry who also sings Great Gig In the Sky. She improvised Great Gig in 2 and 1/2 takes. The company only paid her £30 session fee. Years later the group bumped into Claire in a cafe. When they heard what she got paid they gave her a large cheque but years later she got co-writing credit and sued the company and won an undisclosed sum. She wasn't angry or blamed Pink Floyd as she often sung with them after.

Yesssssss!!!
Preston! I think you should listen to comfortably numb from their pulse concert. You would absolutely love the solo at the end. So emotional and so genius. David Gilmore is a god.
Many consider this the greatest guitar solo ever recorded!
Robert Menottis that's right
He already did Comfortably Numb.
Julia Van Blarcom but live version is better
Oh, I whole heartedly agree.
But it's unlikely that he'll react to the same song twice. Unfortunately.
This is one of those albums that everyone remembers exactly where they were, or what they were doing, when they heard it for the very first time. I sure as hell do!!
The woman singing in the background is Clair Torry. She is the that angelic soulful voice on Great Gig in The Sky as well. Can listen to her all day.
Claire sang Great Gig in the Sky- not Time. See mikimike's list below is correct as verified on the video of making DSoM
David Gilmour can get more out of a single note than any other guitar player I've ever heard.
Chad Jones 🙌🏻👏🏻
David Gilmour played guitar for Pink Floyd
truth.
but he's playing it twice and laying the tracks over each other
but he's playing it twice and laying the tracks over each other
Man, your reactions are great. To see somebody enjoy stuff like you have for years is fun to watch. Keep doing what you're doing!! 👍👍
I love Comfortably Numb but hearing it live at the Pulse Concert is epic.
Best experienced with decent headphones and some primo sativa.
garethwright6 In the dark.
Listening with focal elex headphones with just the right NOS tube on the LYR 3, sounds pretty sweet to me
LSD and album on repeat
Bro i've been binging your videos because they remind me of how these songs hit me when i was first listening to them, keep it up!
Backing vocals for Pink Floyd's Time
Doris Troy - backing vocals
Lesley Duncan - backing vocals
Liza Strike - backing vocals
Barry St. John - backing vocals
Thank you
you are correct if the version he is watching is from Dark side of the moon (looking at the album cover it seems so but usually i found that on the web they tend to use the versions from the tour albums either delicate or pulse) here but if it is the version from delicate sound of thunder is either the only white lady of the 3 vocalist that i think was Margret Taylor and in pulse i think was Claudia fontaine
I love you, Preston! This is the best! Thank you for being open to this music. I love Pink Floyd... THANK YOU
Clare H. Torry (born 29 November 1947) is a Britishsinger, best known for performing the wordless vocals on the song "The Great Gig in the Sky" by the group Pink Floyd on their 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon.
Clare Torry doesn’t sing on this track. It’s Doris Troy.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd. Do that one next. You will love it!!
If you listen to this song over time it will become your favourite Floyd song. It's science
Shine on you Crazy Diamond.... it will be your new favorite 🤠
Nobody seems to request this one on this channel, while it's clearly in every Pink Floyd Top 5 you can find anywhere... It's a mystery.
I know right. Pink Floyd is soooooo awesome.
Please Preston do this song and you will be a serious Pink Tool fan
All the Parts of Shine on!
Actually, the whole damn album!
@,Blair Bowers, you'd b a fool, not to b a fan of PINK TOOL! lol.
You almost miss something if you try to break Dark Side of the Moon into "songs"! It is best start to finish, then do it again.
This☝️👏
animals is their best album. just not considered their "mainstream" best
Animals! By far my favorite Pink Floyd album start to finish! Dark Side a very, very close second!
You have to get high and listen to the whole album at once . It's one of the best records ever made, that takes you on a awesome journey. Each song is building up to the next and so on. The whole album is like one long song. Fuckin amazing! 😘
Let us not forget "Echos".
No need to get high. The music gets you high just close your eyes.
Such a positive happy guy❤ Thank you for being you
Did this on shrooms while in wilderness and it was truly awesome
@@jacobmcintosh5166 no need indee, but it's a nice bonus :)
😂😂 so many nights I've been on the edge of sleep and practically fall out of bed when this song starts
The singer on 'The Great Gig In The Sky is Claire H Torry
The whole album is one big experienced. And, you gotta watch the wizard of oz sync
@@trdacy Yep, that's what I found too. But Doris Troy was the main R&B vocalist on "Time". If you listen to Doris Troy's big hit "Just One Look", you'll recognize her voice. "Just One Look" is a very classic R&B song.
Tyson Newman Clare Torry from the uk was the main female vocalist from 1971-86
+Chris Liverpool England Clare was a session vocalist and was not a member of the band. She only worked with them a handful of times and very rarely joined them live.
Didn't expect to feel this way, but watching you reminds me of all the reasons I love Pink Floyd, and many other artists you've reviewed. Seeing your joy is giving me back a little piece of mine. Thank you for that. 💛👊
So fun to watch someone discovering Pink Floyd! Your life has changed for the better my brother
Pay attention son. When you're listening to Pink Floyd you are receiving messages from GOD. Nothing less than masterful musicianship, with prophetic lyrics and angelic chorus. I'm glad you feel it man. Your soul is intact.
Via the means of an atheist. Fascinating idea though.
Man that's perfect....receiving messages from God. That is exactly right.
It really is, its something that almost everyone can relate to but doesnt beat you over the head with it
Also I love your username i used to play MTG and loved the Invasion cycle novels
Actually, Waters did not sing on this track. David Gilmour sang first lead, Richard Wright sang the second stanza of each verse.
He encapsulates the somber acceptance if the subject, without riding off a chorus or seeming too moody
I love how you FEEL the music. You can read it in every fiber of your being
Pigs (Three Different Ones), Have A Cigar, Echoes, Another Brick In The Wall (full version)
im with you on all that but i have to say Animals the whole album is just nasty. i picked Dogs but that album is soo good
Aaron Hickman dogs is another good one :)
Yes! Have a cigar ❤
Yes! Yes! and Eh...
I feel this way when I listen to them every time. After 35 years of listening to em. Time is timeless
You are at the top of reaction videos.
I got goosebumps watching you get goosebumps! Such an amazing song! Such a genuine, feel-good reaction :)
Claire H Torry
OMG I just started listing to this song for the fist time with a nice set of headphones .WOW. Nothing today can compare....
Timothy McCune you have to listen to the entire album start to finish with a good pair of headphones trust me you won’t be disappointed!
You are one of the few genuine music listeners I've found on youtube, most do reaction videos just for hits.
Just stumbled on this and your reactions...LOVE!! ‘The sun is the same in a relative way, but you’re older’. Ijs.
Santana - BLACK MAGIC WOMAN!
Dude... althoughi love your being introduced to these songs.... they are merely a "snapshot", you're missing the "movie"... gotta hear THAT album cover to cover.
There's a lot of truth to this. A lot of these 70s rock albums were just that: albums. They weren't a collection of singles, they were a whole, about 46 minutes long.
Truth.
Would love to see him do a reaction to The Wall. That Pink Floyd movie was amazing.
Yes! Even if we never see a recording of your reaction, please listen to the entire album.
#truth...
Its great watching people who here Pink floyd for the first time, I was listening to this 45 years ago, man there is so much stuff you missed, its the best.
glad to see you like it , it never ages...
My all time fav PF song.....glad you got it...great reaction...Thanks!
Play Pink Floyd across the country and reduce crime 15%!
Yep. legalize ganja and play this all the time....we'd all realize how stupid anger and rage are and how f'd up it is to spend your few trips around the sun doing dumb shit.
‘The Great Gig In The Sky ‘ features vocals by the same female singer. Do that next!
She wasn't angry or blamed Pink Floyd as she often sung with them after.
man I could sit in a room with you for hours showing eacho other songs. Your the friend that people love showing their favorite song to because you actually listen and show expression lol
I'm lucky enough to have seen Pink Floyd twice😁 PIGS, Great Gig in the Sky & Have A Cigar are a MUST for u!!!! U will 💖 them all!!! Great Gig in the Sky is beyond soulful😉
Atheist in Alabama I saw roger waters in Copenhagen 2 months ago, but I would be better to see them together.
Thank GOD for Pink Floyd!
this album is one of the best to listen to while high.
I made it a priority for my 2 kids to hear all of pink floyd when they were young. Like classic literature, it should be required listening. Bravo to you sir for appreciating some of the best music to ever be created.
Reaction both beautiful and hilarious and just right, not over or under . Only Preston can pull that off!
