This has been the most consistently frequent source of Magic content over the past month or so. I’m super grateful and love all of it! But also, Mitch, you are crazy! Hope you’ve still got a good work/life balance in the midst of your commitment to the channel!
I’m a huge fan of how you formatted this video, keen to see more of it in the future for each precon! Take a break though dude, I’m surprised you’re still putting these out after such an intense spoiler season
Ooohhh man I pulled Allosaurus shepherd with my first pack of jumpstart! And I have a craterfoot behemoth from when it was printed in the innistrad block..... im making a elf deck!!!
You are keeping local card stores in business. I've purchased so many cards and of course folders, card sleeves and every kind of MTG product. I've been surprised that they are just as affordable as Amazon or even cost less. So many guys I chat with watch your channel. Thank You for doing all the work and study for people like me that can't afford hundreds and hundreds of dollars but still want a few deck options. You Win the RUclips Channel of the Year Award!!!
So glad you've started doing precon upgrade guides! I've just been casually getting into Magic the gathering, but I don't want to fall down the rabbit hole of uncontrollable spending!!
Never played commander but I picked this up for when I get to. Then marketwatch mentioned your channel and here I am, liked, followed, subscribed. Good content! Keep it up.
I think the token potential in this deck is huge. I liked this commander since it was spoiled. It's no Krenko when it comes to token making but for elves its amazing.
Shaman of the pack and poison tip archer with essence warden. Also add vito. Gain tons of life, and tons of kill potential and shaman of the pack with all the elves could be a potential one shot kill.
I love this episode, you hit every point I wanted to see. Literally looked at this card when it was spoiled and thought, ya definitely building this. Was super psyched you made an episode of it and was very happy to see you offered variety budget upgrades, something I have been hoping to see from your episodes on certain commanders. Thanks for the absolutely rockstar episode here, much appreciated!
Mitch I believe you stopped a bit short. Staples such as Assassin's Trophy, Windgrace's Judgement, Maelstrom Pulse could be listed here. Also, a long-standing gripe with Elves is their weakness to boardwipes-- Rise of the Dark Realms/Living Death could be considered to help with that.
I tried building mono green elves before but found the deck folded way to easily to wrath effects. Black reanimation effects my be what I was needing for this kind of deck.
The biggest value of ezuri as a commander is that he is board wipe protection. If you tap a mana dork like elvish archdruid or wire wood channeler, you get enough green mana to regenerate all of your elves other than ezuri.
Like they said ezuri helps. I also run eldrazi monument in my elf deck to protect my board while helping against flying (another weakness of elves) and gives my board a pump and evasion.
Nothing I love more than watching upgrade videos like these with tons of good suggestions just to go and look for the cards to see they have all skyrocketed in price from all the good suggestions.
fun fact, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord was already there as an elven Golgari option and is a better option than this new one, fling your elves and wipe the table.
@@taylorkempinski3965 to be fair there is no optimal elf tribal commander, this new one is no better than Jarad is. gives you swarm, can do that with Jarad as well, been doing it for years and then flinging things like a 200/200 heedless one at the entire table. Jarad gives tribal elves a win con.
Throne of the god-pharaoh is another good card for this deck that works well with Lathril's second ability. I love this video. I'm going to take a lot of these ideas and put them into the deck.
Thanks for your great work. The different tiers are perfect. Allows you to mix and match based on budget. Looking forward to the foretell version of this.
I just buyed this starter commander, and I am songlad to found this video. I knew that i had to boost this deck, but this is à very good start for an updating. Thank you from France

Skyshroud poacher, not a elf BUT for 3 mana and tapping the card you can search your library for a elf card and immediately play it while ignoring the casting cost. Helpful for a few reasons, in the precon is a creature card that can deal damage to a opponent for how many Elves are on the field when it comes into play so a great surprise win condition, then there is a elf sorcery(says elf so it can be used) makes a 1/1 elf token for every elf on your field. Basically Doubling your ranks. And basically Any kind of elf in your deck can be summoned for arguable cheap
@@pmt1103 Of course! I forgot that one, it is an awesome addition! However, the interaction with Elvish Promenade doesn't work, as Poacher's oracle reads "Search your library for an Elf *permanent* card", so, sadly, it doesn't works. But still a great addition!
@@P4CCHU Really? I just looked up the card and it states "elf card" it doesn't seem to say permanent in the text. I'm looking it up on tcg player. Am I perhaps looking at it wrong?
@@pmt1103 On Gatherer you can see the oracle text. However, even if the oracle text wouldn't have changed, the interaction wouldn't work because Poacher puts the tutored card on the battlefield, and sorceries can't exist on the battlefield, so in that case... Thank you for all your Kaldheim work! I really enjoyed your spoiler talk. In the distant future, can you throw some love to more Golgari commanders? I would love to see a Chevill, Bane of Monsters deck from you!
Just ordered my upgrades. I'd like to reccomend skyshroud poacher. It is about 20 or so dollars BUT for 3 mana it allows you to search your library for ANY elf card and put it into play, ignoring the casting cost. A great way to either ramp up mana, get a defender and so on. And since it's a tap ability it is affected by untap effects like Vitalize, if done right that's 2 elf cards for cheap cost and considering some of the effects of the cards that are in the precon alone it can deal some serious damage or at the very least give you a strong advantage.
Having the high roller section is great. My roommate and I allow proxies but we prefer not to have too many. So a couple super expensive cards is appreciated!

One card to consider is Elvish Guidance, which in this kind of deck could turn a land into a Gaea's Cradle (or even better since it counts all Elves in play)
I was hoping to see more black and golgari stuff in these recommendations. I've used an ezuri deck for ages and was hoping for recommendations that maybe weren't just staples in mono green elves. So I’ve been wondering a couple things that I think would be interesting for you to touch on. First is what color/ color combinations(not 5 color) have the most color specific options for infinite mana. Second is what do you think the best commander for a token swarm deck is without going infinite ?
"There's absolutely no right or wrong ways to upgrade a deck"
My sarcastic ass: I'm gonna take Reki out of my Sisay decks!!
Goodmorning
This type of video is perfect
It's really unfortunate that Ezuri is no longer that price point. Be lucky to find one under $10, as all the ones I've seen are around that mark
Him: Upgrad this deck! It's awesome on it's own!
Me: So basically I took it apart to upgrade my Abomination of Llanowar deck instead.
Valid for sure, I love Abomination of Llanowar but, not the biggest fan of voltron decks so, I like him in the 99 more. 👌
@@samuelwood8010 Oh yeah he's in a commander deck! I only play commander lol, although I have played a draft game once.
Great Henge would be useful as well
