- Hey! The time has come for me to change things up! As previously mentioned, I'm going to be trying out products that contain things that I have avoided thus far. As my hair grows longer, I'm finding that its needs are a bit different than before... Change can be good, right? ;)
Please don't forget to Like, Share, & Subscribe for more vids!
Btw, I'm definitely going to be trying the conditioner out in different ways than I did here... I see great potential in it lol! :D

Use grease ladies! I started going natural when I started college so needless to say I had no money for expensive products. Silicones kept my hair moisturized longer and grease sealed in the moisture. Oil would keep my hair moisturized for a day or two but grease enabled me to keep my protective styles in all week. Bump these natural hair rules. Most things are good in moderation.
Yesss my hair loves grease
I love grease too. My staple are the blue magic grease and even their other products. Grease works for me and love it.
I loveeeee blue magic. Even royal crown is great. Not expensive and keeps my hair soft.
Samara Sullivan
Thank you! I thought my hair had issues because none of the creamy stuff ever worked great in my hair. I'm sticking with my oils.
You welcome, yes work with whats best
She sounds like Beyoncé
Yes, use the Aussie Moist conditioner. It is SLIPPPPPP city
Yesss!!!! The Aussie Moist line is the best!
Southern Sweet Tee Slip and softness for days
Thanks!
NaturalMe4C The Aussie Moist Conditioner is the businessss!!
I use the conditioner by a sulfate free shampoo
I find that the Aussie Moist conditioner is MUCH better than that one. I use it to cowash and detangle, it's great. The 3 min miracle deep conditioner is really good as well.
I agree. I use the Aussie Moist to co-wash and just last week tried the 3min miracle deep conditioner and was pretty impressed.
I'm going to check it out again! I used to use it when I was relaxed :D
Aussie moist is my bae! lol
I'm now on silicones and sulfates. My hair is growing like a weed! It's never looked better. So I have nothing bad to say.
Diligent Seeking I did huh 😩😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bran Bran lmao right!
Cali Brooklyn1 what are some sulfate shampoos you use
Cali Brooklyn1 what shampoos are you using cause my hair growth is pretty slow
I use sulfates and "cones" on my hair with my shampoo and conditioner. I stick to more natural products for my leave ins. I've never really had a problem using silicones or sulfates and I agree that it seems to protect your hair more than some natural products.
Awesome! I hope I don't have any issues with them either :D
I'm glad you tried this. That layer of "something", was what I did not like. Looking forward to more videos.
Thanks! It was time lol!
do you, boo! the great thing is you already know how your optimum hair feels, so if anything makes it feel less than, you'll know immediately! tfs.
Thank you! Yes if Ms. Fro snaps on me I know to turn back lol
Yes my hair hates that cantu too! But the silicones in hello hydration and Aussie works so well in my hair. I have a silicone series on my channel. TFS
LadyAlexcia Awesome!!
I love aussie moist conditioner! Fav lol 🙌 silicones help my hair !
Natural Hair Natural Me Awesome!!
Aussie moist is AMAZING. Seriously the best conditioner I've used.
MusiqJunkie16 Awesome!!
Babypeachz92 do u leave it in
Sulfate shampoo is working much better than sulfate-free -- removes buildup, thereby allowing the conditioner to absorb better. Serums provide my hair with awesome slip, better than oil. Both are winners although I once dodged them like the plague.
***** Awesome!!
I don't mind using products with silicones but I do mostly avoid them. I completely avoid sulfates though, my hair doesn't need any extra help to be dry, Lol!
Exactly....you will just end up with a dry hot mess!
lol right! That's what my thoughts have been thus far too. I don't plan on shampooing weekly or anything... probably monthly of at all lol
Great video! It's always good to trying new things. As someone who is silicon friendly I recommend an oil prepoo before shampooing. It really helps you hair not feel stripped.
Thank you!!!
I remember early on in the first year of my journey (I'm now a few months away from year 2, yay!) you encouraged me to use what works for me when I shared with you that I was using products with 'cones in them particularly the Cantu leave in repair cream which I still love and will not repent!, LOL! as well as the Pantene cowash and deep conditioner which I will use once a month or so. I hear some naturals say that cones protect against heat so they are not totally bad. I had not used any heat on my hair at all but I find that I enjoy these products and a few others as well and I will continue to use them as long as they work. Aussie has never been a brand that has worked on my 4c coils neither has Giovanni, Trader Joes etc. So I guess when using cones we still have to find the right products that works best for our hair. Hope this helps, love, hugs and blessings to the family, tfs, God bless.
Thats awesome!! congratulations!!! Yes trial and error along the way but it can be fun :D
Good luck!!!! It is great you are trying new things! I can't wait to start seeing what works for me! I have all these great products from curlbox but I got one more month of the twists! Can't wait to see how this new phase goes for you!! Your comments in the video about your hair being mad was hilarious!!
lol thanks! She was pretty ticked with the shampooing process!
I use Aussie 3 Minute Miracle and mix in oils and glycerin to it to deep condition and the softness is real. I use the Aussie Moist conditioner to co-wash, I like them. Lately I've been using Rhassoul clay to wash though.
i use Herbal Essence's Hello Hydration as well as Totally Twisted. they were my staple products when i first went natural & my hair did so well with them. the youtube product hype is what threw me off through out the years, but i'm back to using those & my hair still loves it
girlnika12 I'm glad you found things that work well for you!! :D
I have fine coily hair and I have found that Garnier fructis sleek and shine Moroccan sleek oil treatment is good. I take some of this and add it to my conditioner and then rinse it, then I take some more and use as a leave -in. This products does have a silicone, but since my hair is longer it really helps me to detangle. I also use Aussie moist 3 minute miracle. As long as a product works for your hair it doesn't matter.
Hey Kriss a great Sulfate Free Shampoo is Design Essentials Almond and Avocado Moisturizing&Detangling Shampoo. I love it! When I rinse it out my hair is soft as well.
Thanks for the heads up! :D
NaturalMe4C And TGIN!! their products are amazing
At least you are willing to try new products. I'm sticking to what works for now. I have tried the Aussie Moist and it was good.
Looking forward to seeing how this new phase turns out for you!
Thank you!!
You kinda look like beyonce
Mimi Pitt lol :D
She even sounds like her
No more like her sister .. Solange
I agree!
When I do use shampoo with a sulfate I usually put my hair in sections and then just coat the roots. Give them a scrub then rise. While rinsing the shampoo cleans the ends of the hair so that it doesn't feel as dry because your not using a whole bunch.
For conditioners I tend to add oils or pureed (and strained) banana to the conditioner making a nice homemade deep conditioner. I usually leave it on for 30 min to an hour then rinse.
Ally~
Thank you!!!
Ditto, Ally! I shampoo in twists to get right to the scalp with the Giovanni 50-50 at the sink, wash it out in the shower. then i get back out and take the twists apart to apply my DC masque (either the gold Shea Moisture or the bright green). Then retwist those and take my actual shower, taking them apart at the end and hitting it with cold water to close those cuticles!
And I ALSO use grease. Carol's Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey for the "O" in my LOC.
I love the "moist" line of Aussie. You should definitely try that and their 3 minute miracle moist version too.
Thanks!
Just purchased the Aussie Smooth 7 in 1 conditioner to co-wash and so far my hair loves it... from one 4C Chik to another!
Vik Thatchik Awesome!!
hey I just found out that there are water soluble silicone! the conditioner I use to condition and as a styling product is the Renpure originals Coconut cream nourishing conditioner. it's like 4 bucks for 16 Oz. great slip and softens my hair!great for twistout for me. I'm 4c too, with low porosity hair
Your personality is like my favorite hair RUclips person. My hair is like Ms.Whitney (Nap85) and I found you because my college roommate was having a hard time with her hair which is like yours. But I keep watching you because you are so fun! Thanks for all the videos!!!
Aww thank you very much!!! I really really appreciate it!!! :D You're so awesome!!!
I love the new 7n1 conditioner, and without a doubt the 3 min miracle. Haven't tried any of the shampoos, but I have not been disappointed with these two conditioners..thx again!
Awesome! !
Luv your honesty and enjoy your videos EVERYTIME! !
Aww thanks!!!
Hey Kriss, I enjoyed this video. I look forward to seeing you experiment with new products. Like I mentioned before I love the Aussie moist conditioner and the 3 minute miracle conditioner. My other new favorite conditioner is the herbal essence wild naturals moisturize your locks, it smells amazing and I use it as a leave in.
Thanks Deb! I tried those out when I was relaxed :D I have to check them out again!
Maybe you should try prepooing with some oils and also when I shampoo I like to go over the shampoo with a conditioner before rinsing them both out. I think both of these help me to not have that stripped feeling afterwards.
***** I have a twa (just big chopped two weeks ago) but when my hair is longer I will definitely remember that. Good tip!
Thanks so much!! :) Yeah I thought about that but I wanted to see how moisturizing this brand of shampoo was lol. My hair missed the conditioner though lol
LOL I love the dramatic break in with the music lol epic
lol thanks! !
if you use silicone in your hair do an hot oil treatment using olive oil or coconut oil the most penetrating oils, let it set for about 30 mins and use a sulfate shampoo silicone free, this will rid your hair of any prior silicones, for moisture to penetrate the strands, silicones are not bad they actually provide some vital strengthen benefits for natural hair. there's just a sciences to using them and maintaing a healthy head of natural hair, wonderful video
Hey Kriss! I think u should just apply the shampoo to your scalp, not to your hair itself :) that avoids stripping the hair but still cleans the scalp
Kemy96 Thanks for the tip!!
Try Aussie's 3-minute conditioner! I love it! Also, they have one for color which I now use. The regular one has nothing on the Deeeeep 3min condish, from what I hear! Herbal essence is also BOMB (blue containers)
Thanks!!
Blue magic hunny. I have 4c hair and it keeps my hair moisturized for days. I wash condition then apply the blue magic grease. Pure heaven. Simple, cheap, and it works.
Kimberly Johnson That's awesome!! I'm not against grease :D
That shampoo dried my hair out Soo much. I just use African black soap in my hair. Now, that's a win!
Thanks for sharing. I started using silicones last summer and I survived. LOL I love the Aussie Moist and the Aussie Confidently Clean for cowashing. And my new favorite leave in is the Aussie Split Ender leave in.
I haven't tried a sulfate shampoo, but have found love with the Joico Color Endure Shampoo ( not the violet one). Shampoo is something I quit once natural as will, but so glad I have reincorporated it into my regimen. You should look into some of the joico products too. The moisture recovery line its really good.
By Grace Beauty Thank you for the suggestions! I definitely need them lol!!! Finding a good shampoo that my hair (picky as she is) like is going to be a process...
I realized today that I'm going to cowash every week and shampoo maybe once a month or every 2 months. My hair does and feels the same as you said yours did with the shampoo, and I don't even want to have to deal with it anymore. Good job on trying something new! :-)
Thanks!! Yeah conditioner is definitely my hair's preference! :D
I haven't tried the Aussie you used, but the Aussie Moist is the business - provides a ton of slip and hair feels super moisturized after using.
I'm a huge fan of the ORS Argan Oil Sulfate Free Shampoo. For a shampoo, it has incredible slip and tangle-melting abilities- I don't know what magic is in it but it's awesome. The conditioner is pretty good as well. And of course I cosign on all the Aussie Moist conditioner shouts! It's awesome!
mimiluau Thanks soo much for the suggestions!!!
My favorite shampoo is the Palmers New Shea Formula. I've only found it in some walmarts, but it is so moisturizing I can detangle with it AND it is sulfate free and you don't need a lot :) but as for cones, that Aussie 3 min is no joke, and I was thinking of going CGM with my products, but I don't think I can really give it up. What I did do was add some oils to it, like grapeseed, jojoba, and olive, and get my DC and oil rinse needs met in one moment. I also like the Palmers New Shea curling cream and that has a cone too, but this cold weather needs some heavy protective products IMO.
Good luck on your new phase! We look forward to your updates :)
But if you do want to try sulfate frfr, try the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition line (yellow bottle). I was also able to detangle with their shampoo. Also Herbal Essences, I like The Sleeker The Butter and Honey I'm Strong lines. Also good shampoo detanglers. I have that instant retangle type of hair so that is my test with any product line. I can always find a good conditioner, but finding a good shampoo that cleans and moisturizes, especially since all I do is frequent wngs, is essential for my hair health.
Thank you so much!!
Hey,
Great video. I have soooooo many products in my stash that have silicones. Right now I'm on a ayurvedic/MHM challenge for myself until march to see how my hair progresses, but after that, I plan on revisiting my HH products, Aussie moist products, etc. Your right, you can definitely feel a kinda film on your hair after using the cones.
Thanks!! I hope your challenge works out!!
I've never used that kind of Aussie but I do know that I CANNOT live without the Aussie moist conditioner. It takes me 45 mins to cowash and detangle with it.
Awesome!!
Use the herbal essence hello hydration as a cowash. My natural 4c hair is in love. I know it has a silicone in it, but the slip and the moisture retention is amazing.
Thanks!!
I understand the change, just recently my scalp is more itchy even though i have not changed anything in my regimen. I am 3years natural and my hair is going through new phases, so i am having to switch things up. Thank u for sharing.
Thank you! God bless!!
Have you tried the Creme of Nature Shampoos? It doesn't leave my hair feeling stripped at all. Also, what about pre-pooing overnight with coconut oil before your washing session? It has helped my hair fight breakage!
Your skin looks soo flawless, omg!
Thanks! I had a little help from Revlon ;)
Yes I'm glad u made this decision. 👌. I'm proud of u. I use Nexxus humectres conditioner. Its heavy silicone based. For deep conditioning. 💯👌
Thanks!!
Wow, I love this Argan Life sulfate free shampoo. It smells so great. It's wonderful on my hair. I am so glad a friend of mine told me about it. I definitely recommend buying this.
Good solution
The Aussie moist conditioner is very moisturizing.
Thanks!
Good for you Kriss! I plan to try products with not so great ingredients also this year.
Thanks! Awesome! We got this lol!
I have used the conditioner for years my hair loves it. After watching this video, I wanted to try shampoo. I found it at target on clearance! big old bottle for $5, my hair likes it, super suds I needed it to wash out the butters. Glad I tried it, sulfate free just wasn't giving me a deep clean.
I LOVE your hair! And your skin looks amazing in this video!!! I would love to hear what your routine is like to maintain it :)
Great video and thanks for sharing!!
Thank you!! I have a skin care vid thatvo did back in the summer that I've done for 2 years :D I've been making a few changes since my skin is changing :Di hope to update as soon as I land on a new regimen.
So while I was transitioning and when I first BC'd I completely stayed away from cones. I recently started using products with cones... the baaaad ones. My hair is thriving and seems to love the bad cones. I don't shampoo, I cowash and mudwash and henna regularly. I have no build up. And I use alot of cones now....a lot. Do what works. Great progress on your hair!
Skye Blue That's awesome!! My relaxed hair loved cones but it wasn't truly moisturized.... so now I wanna see if my natural hair can love cones but also be moisturized from my other products as well :D
love your hair!! thanks for the review
you have nice eyebrows
and pretty😍
I love the Aussie deep conditioners and they are my holy grail products they leave my type 4 hair moisturized for at least 5-days.
CaramelCurls 15 Awesome!!
I'm glad to see you tried something different, I hate when people act like if you do certain things to your hair and they talk about it so bad that you would think it's a sin. lol but good for you, and if you don't like it, you can always go back to your other products and methods.
Thank you!! :D
I use the leave-in conditioner from Palmers. It contains silicone which is not water-soluble. With it, I don't have frizz till my next wash which is a week later. I wash my hair first with neutralizing shampoo and then i follow up with Carol's Daughter conditioner(s).
Awesome! ! Thanks!
I've been using that conditioner ( Aussie Moist) as a cowash for months now. I love it!!
Should be okay,as long as you clarify regularly.
When my hair is finally a bit stretched from things like a braid out, I'm at times reluctant to use water based products and conditioners on it again because it will all shrink in 10 seconds. The Blue Magic castor oil (or any grease for that matter), helps keep moist and shinny without have to restart trying to stretch my hair but instead i can move forward and get it to look even longer. i love the shea moisture, water based organic hair products, spritzing and all but thats wash day only. bring on the grease.
Mirma LV You know what? I think I'm gonna give grease a go! I'm not against grease I've always been more concerned about HAVING to shampoo my hair since my hair obviously doesn't like shampoo lol. :D
I appreciate the fact of you being creative for the video. I would have been scared that my hair would knot up. Lol. I heard the aussie moist conditioner was pretty good tho. Great vid.
MsSkinty1 Thank you!!
I know this video is old, but the way your hair reacted to the cantu leave in is exactly how my hair was when I uses it. I would use it before class and by the time my class was over, my hair was dry again. That was like 3 years ago though, and I haven't used any of the cantu line since.
Here's a tip you should try. Before you add any water to your hair, apply shampoo only to the scalp on dry hair. Believe it or not, you can finger detangle with most shampoos if you apply them to a dry scalp. I have tried that method with Shea Moisture's Coconut and Hibiscus shampoo and African Pride Shampoo (both the shea butter and olive oil ones).
Thanks!!
You should definetley try the aussie 3 min miracle! its sooo moisturizing, it detangles well, and best of all.... its very affordable.
Thank you!!!
You should try the Suave Almond and Shea butter shampoo and conditioner if you havent! I haven't tried the shampoo yet, but if it's anything at all like the conditioner you will be pleasantly surprised! It's super inexpensive as well!
Thanks!!! My transitioning hair didn't dig those two but maybe my fully natural will lol
Great video. I like how you prayed about it! Lol! I have tried some sulfate free shampoo and I am still steering away as I had to condition and moisturize like crazy to get back to my natural state. And for me that was just too much work. I still prefer cowashing only with conditioner and about once or twice a month deep cleansing with just Apple Cider Vinegar. That's what works BEST for me! I am not as far along in my journey just about 1 yr and a half so taking that into consideration. I appreciate you doing a oldie but goodie video without the high tech equipment and studio. Just take me back to the bathroom lol!! I know I am a hot mess I just feel more comfortable watching you there. Lol! I've been watching too long. Preferences.
Yes! Prayer works! Thank you!!
I use cantu leave in during the colder months. Keeps my hair really soft. In the summer, it makes my hair poof and shrink as soon as I leave the house lol. I use shampoo to wash but I wash my hair in twists so the tangling is lessened. It's nice to try new things.
I agree! New is fun!
My hair likes the organix coconut line. I shampoo once a month and my hair never feels striped with that shampoo...great video
Kayanna Scott Brown Awesome!!!
Sistawithrealhair here on youtube uses silicones on her hair and she's a natural girl too... if you haven't seen her hair... OMG its beyond... Good luck! xoxo
Have you tried Carol's Daughter Lisa's Hair Elixir Clarifying Sulfate-Free Shampoo and 7-in-1 Complete Conditioner? Like most people, I usually never finish any hair products that I try. I like these products so much, I just purchased my 3rd set. It leaves my hair soft, detangled and has a minty scent. Even though the shampoo is Sulfate-Free it gets a really good lather.
Great! I haven't tried that line out before :D
Try Cortex conditioner. It gives the best slip. You can get it from Amazon.
Thanks!!
Try diluting the shampoo by half. My fav detangling conditioner is Pantene CoWash for naturals.
Thanks!!
My favorite sulfate/silicone conditionerr/ shampoo is the moisture recovery by Joico. I think you'll like it.
Carols daughter monoi conditioner and the deep conditioner are amazing
r3gina94 Awesome!!!
I love Aussie's conditioners, but I'm not using the shampoos. Try "Yes to Carrots, (or Tomatoes) shampoos. They're sulfate free and they lather well.
EH CBunny Thanks for the tip!
I like your look today. simple and natural
Abena Henewaa Thanks!!
welcome
I loved this 🙌🏽
Thanks!!
I love your videos!!! Can you maybe flat iron your hair just to give us a length check, not saying put heat to your hair everyday but just to just us a little length???
Thanks!!! lol I actually don't mind not having hang time lol. Plus my hair reverts like immediately .. :D
Great video. I enjoy those products.
Love the video .thanks .
Thank you! !
Thanks!!
Try the Suave Professionals SLEEK Conditioner. Completely changed my view on 'cone' conditioners.
curlytea Thanks for the tip!!
A couple of months ago I wanted to incorporate silicones.... So I tried Aussie moist. Let's just say my hair felt the same way you described. It was nice for the first couple of use, but after a while my hair began to dry out and could not retain moisture.
If this is a very old bottle of Aussie Moist, when you're done, please get a new bottle. The slip is crazy. Works on my 4c hair like it was sent from heaven.
Hey! I had purchased those products fresh. :D But I find that the Miraculously Smooth Conditioner works better for me. :D
I use ORS Mayonnaise once a month. I have 4b/c hair and my hair LOVESS it. It contains sulfate.
Clarissa Liesdek oooh! I used to love that stuff! I still have a very old almost empty jar from my relaxed days lol!
I love Aussie Moist, you should try their newest conditioner the 7 N 1 Miracle conditioner. Idk about their shampoos I never tried them, but those 2 conditioners I buy them in 2's lol. Ive not tried the Smooth but I have tried th 2 minute miracle in Smoother and didn't care for them. But Moist and 7 N 1 are heavenly, I think the 7N1 miracle is actually better than moist, awesome slip for finger detangeling
Hi, you should try the Herbal Essence Naked Moisture Shampoo and Cleansing Conditioner. They don't have sulfates, not sure about the silicones but, the work well, smell great, band I love them. I get them at Target and they a super affordable. I think you would like it. Have a good weekend.
Thank you!!!
Hi Kris!! I had missed watching your videos. I have recently bought a product from Sprouts called Acure shampoo! It's natural it did my hair well, though I normally use Castile soap I decided to venture off. It's good to take a chance on new items! ;)
Tobby Kowal That's awesome!! Yes, I'm enjoying the branch out lol!!! Even though there has been some TRIAL and ERROR lol!
Nena I truly understand, lol!
My hair loves the vo5 conditioner! Lol!
I know it's like the cheapest stuff on the market, but I get no breakage or shedding when I use it....... I'm aware of how the cones coat the hair so I try not to use it often.
Awesome! !
Do you have any senior viewers. I am 61 years old and can't get my natural to grow much.
if you want your hair to grow longer then i suggest wild growth hair oil, or doo grow growth oil (disclaimer it might make ur scalp slightly itch) or if you want to take less processed measures you could go with a mixture of coconut oil, Jamaican black castor oil, rose mary oil, and what ever essential natural oils you like and a good daily scalp massage.
BluDrop5 Thank you so much for responding
CHI I appreciate your response.
My hair kind of has a love hate with the aussie smooth but it love the aussie moist! Also the hello hydration by herbal essences is life lol
Mimi Green lol Awesome!!
So I always use sulfate shampoo but after shampooing I apply coconut oil and then whatever conditioner I'm using. Rinse, loc up and im good2go! Also sometimes I prepoo with evoo.
Nice!!
Hello, i'm natural since 2013 but i can't live without moroccanoil products, i put them into my hair only once a month because they are so expensive but they're a bomb!
Gazelle Arabe Awesome!
AUSSIE MOIST not smooth mix with oil and honey is my favorite. I got the 2 and 1 shampoo mix with 50% more aussie conditioner and oil to prevent the strip feeling. If your a cowash natural shampoo is not a favorite. Build up easy your force to shampoo like me. Mixology is my way of making the all in one product to meet my needs.
Thanks Kriss.
no problem! :D
Thanks for sharing I love your Personality, btw what program do you edit your videos with?TY:)
Thank you!! I use imovie :D
Although its not taboo, one of my faves right now is rhassoul clay! Cleansing and conditioning all in one saves me so much time on wash day! My hair clumps beautifully and is sooo moisturized and ughh ...I digress😳 lolz
Awesome!!!
"Already prayed about it." Lol! I
lol!
